پیدایش 44

۱ 1 پس به ناظر خانه خود امر کرده، گفت: عدلهای این مردمان را به قدری که می‌توانند برد، از غله پر کن، و نقد هر کسی را به دهنه عدلش بگذار.

Then commanded he him who was over his house saying—Fill the sacks of the men, with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man’s silver in the mouth of his sack;

۲ 2 و جام مرا، یعنی جام نقره را، در دهنه عدل آن کوچکتر، با قیمت غله‌اش بگذار.» پس موافق آن سخنی که یوسف گفته بود، کرد.

and my cup—the cup of silver, shalt thou put in the mouth of the sack of the youngest, with his corn-silver. So he did, according to the word of Joseph, which he had spoken.

۳ 3 و چون صبح روشن شد، آن مردان را باحماران ایشان، روانه کردند.

By the time, the morning, was light, the men, had been sent away, they, and their asses.

۴ 4 و ایشان از شهربیرون شده، هنوز مسافتی چند طی نکرده بودند، که یوسف به ناظر خانه خود گفت: «بر پا شده، درعقب این اشخاص بشتاب، و چون بدیشان فرارسیدی، ایشان را بگو: چرا بدی به عوض نیکویی کردید؟

They themselves, had gone out of the city—they had not gone far, when Joseph said to him who was over his house, Rise chase after the men, —so shalt thou overtake them and shalt say unto them, Wherefore have ye requited evil for good?

۵ 5 آیا این نیست آنکه آقایم در آن می‌نوشد، و از آن تفال می‌زند؟ در آنچه کردید، بد کردید.»

Is not this that in which my lord drinketh, and whereby, he himself, doth divine? Ye have done evil in what ye have done.

۶ 6 پس چون بدیشان در‌رسید، این سخنان رابدیشان گفت.

So he overtook them, —and spake unto them these words.

۷ 7 به وی گفتند: «چرا آقایم چنین می‌گوید؟ حاشا از غلامانت که مرتکب چنین کارشوند!

And they said unto him, Wherefore should my lord speak such words as these? Far be thy servants, from doing such a thing as this!

۸ 8 همانا نقدی را که در دهنه عدلهای خودیافته بودیم، از زمین کنعان نزد تو باز آوردیم، پس چگونه باشد که از خانه آقایت طلا یا نقره بدزدیم.

Lo! the silver that we found in the mouth of our sacks, we brought back unto thee out of the land of Canaan, —how then could we steal out of the house of thy lord, silver or gold?

۹ 9 نزد هر کدام از غلامانت یافت شود، بمیرد، و مانیز غلام آقای خود باشیم.»

With whomsoever of thy servants it can be found, he shall die, —and, we also, will become my lord’s servants.

۱۰ 10 گفت: «هم الان موافق سخن شما بشود، آنکه نزد او یافت شود، غلام من باشد، و شما آزادباشید.»

And he said, Yea, now, according to your words, so, let it be, —he with whom it is found, shall be my servant, Ye, however, shall be clear.

۱۱ 11 پس تعجیل نموده، هر کس عدل خودرا به زمین فرود آورد، و هر یکی عدل خود را بازکرد.

So they hastened and took down each man his sack to the ground, —and opened each man his sack.

۱۲ 12 و او تجسس کرد، و از مهتر شروع نموده، به کهتر ختم کرد. و جام در عدل بنیامین یافته شد.

Then made he thorough search, with the eldest, he began, and with the youngest, he ended, —and the cup was found in the sack of Benjamin!

۱۳ 13 آنگاه رخت خود را چاک زدند، و هر کس الاغ خود را بار کرده، به شهر برگشتند.

And they rent their mantles, —and laded each man his ass, and returned to the city.

۱۴ 14 و یهودا با برادرانش به خانه یوسف آمدند، و او هنوز آنجا بود، و به حضور وی بر زمین افتادند.

And Judah and his brethren came into the house of Joseph, he, yet being there, —and fell down before him to the earth.

۱۵ 15 یوسف بدیشان گفت: «این چه‌کاری است که کردید؟ آیا ندانستید که چون من مردی، البته تفال می‌زنم؟»

And Joseph said to them, What is this deed which ye have done? Know ye not that such a man as I, can even divine?

۱۶ 16 یهودا گفت: «به آقایم چه گوییم، و چه عرض کنیم، و چگونه بی‌گناهی خویش را ثابت نماییم؟ خدا گناه غلامانت رادریافت نموده است؛ اینک ما نیز و آنکه جام بدستش یافت شد، غلامان آقای خود خواهیم بود.»

Then said Judah—What shall we say to my lord, how shall we speak and how shall we justify ourselves, —when, God himself, hath found out the iniquity of thy servants? Behold us! my lord’s servants, both we, and he in whose hand the cup hath been found.

۱۷ 17 گفت: «حاشا از من که چنین کنم! بلکه آنکه جام بدستش یافت شد، غلام من باشد، وشما به سلامتی نزد پدر خویش بروید.»

And he said, Far be it from me to do this thing! The man in whose hand the cup hath been found, he, shall be my servant, but as for you, go ye up in peace unto your father.

۱۸ 18 آنگاه یهودا نزدیک وی آمده، گفت: «ای آقایم بشنوغلامت به گوش آقای خود سخنی بگوید. وغضبت بر غلام خود افروخته نشود، زیرا که توچون فرعون هستی.

Then Judah drew near unto him, and said—Pardon my lord! Pray let thy servant speak a word in the ears of my lord, and do not let thine anger be kindled against thy servant, —for, thus, art, thou as Pharaoh!

۱۹ 19 آقایم از غلامانت پرسیده، گفت: “آیا شما را پدر یا برادری است؟”

It was, my lord, who asked his servants, saying, —Have ye a father, or a brother?

۲۰ 20 و به آقای خود عرض کردیم: “که ما را پدرپیری است، و پسر کوچک پیری او که برادرش مرده است، و او تنها از مادر خود مانده است، وپدر او را دوست می‌دارد.”

So we said unto my lord, We have an aged father, and the child of his old age a youth, —his brother, being dead, he alone, is left of his mother and, his father, loveth him.

۲۱ 21 و به غلامان خودگفتی: “وی را نزد من آرید تا چشمان خود را بروی نهم.”

So then thou saidst unto thy servants, Bring him down unto me, —that I may set mine eyes upon him.

۲۲ 22 و به آقای خود گفتیم: “آن جوان نمی تواند از پدر خود جدا شود، چه اگر از پدرخویش جدا شود او خواهد مرد.”

And we said unto my lord, The lad cannot leave his father, —as surely as he leaveth his father, so surely will he, die.

۲۳ 23 و به غلامان خود گفتی: “اگر برادر کهتر شما با شما نیاید، روی مرا دیگر نخواهید دید.”

And thou saidst unto thy servants, Except your youngest brother do come down with you, ye shall not again behold my face.

۲۴ 24 پس واقع شد که چون نزد غلامت، پدر خود، رسیدیم، سخنان آقای خود را بدو باز‌گفتیم.

So it came to pass when we had gone up unto thy servant, my father, that we told him the words of my lord.

۲۵ 25 و پدر ما گفت: “برگشته اندک خوراکی برای ما بخرید.”

Then said our father, —Go again buy us a little food,

۲۶ 26 گفتیم: “نمی توانیم رفت، لیکن اگر برادر کهتر باما آید، خواهیم رفت، زیرا که روی آن مرد رانمی توانیم دید اگر برادر کوچک با ما نباشد.”

And we said, We cannot go down, —If our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down, for we cannot see the face of the man if, our youngest brother, is not with us.

۲۷ 27 وغلامت، پدر من، به ما گفت: “شما آگاهید که زوجه‌ام برای من دو پسر زایید.

Then said thy servant my father, unto us, —Ye yourselves, know, that, two, did my wife bear to me,

۲۸ 28 و یکی از نزدمن بیرون رفت، و من گفتم هر آینه دریده شده است، و بعد از آن او را ندیدم.

and the one went forth from me, and I said—Certainly he hath been, torn in pieces, —And I have never seen him since.

۲۹ 29 اگر این را نیز ازنزد من ببرید، و زیانی بدو رسد، همانا موی سفیدمرا به حزن به گور فرود خواهید برد.” (Sheol h7585)

As surely as ye take, this one also, away from before my face and there befall him any mischief, so surely shall ye bring down my grey hairs, with misfortune to hades. (Sheol h7585)

۳۰ 30 و الان اگر نزد غلامت، پدر خود بروم، و این جوان با مانباشد، و حال آنکه جان او به‌جان وی بسته است،

Now, therefore, as surely as I go in unto thy servant my father, and, the lad, is not with us, —seeing that his soul is bound up with the lad’s soul,

۳۱ 31 واقع خواهد شد که چون ببیند پسر نیست، او خواهد مرد. و غلامانت موی سفید غلامت، پدرخود را به حزن به گور فرود خواهند برد. (Sheol h7585)

so surely shall it come to pass that when he seeth that the lad is not with us, then will he die. So shall thy servants bring down the grey hairs of thy servant our father, with sorrow to hades. (Sheol h7585)

۳۲ 32 زیراکه غلامت نزد پدر خود ضامن پسر شده، گفتم: “هرگاه او را نزد تو باز نیاورم، تا ابدالاباد نزد پدرخود مقصر خواهم شد.”

For thy servant, became surety for the lad, while away from my father saying, —If I bring him not unto thee, then will I count myself a sinner against my father all the days.

۳۳ 33 پس الان تمنا اینکه غلامت به عوض پسر در بندگی آقای خود بماند، و پسر، همراه برادران خود برود.

Now, therefore, I pray thee let thy servant remain instead of the lad, as servant to my lord, —but as for the lad, let him go up with his brethren.

۳۴ 34 زیرا چگونه نزد پدر خود بروم و پسر با من نباشد، مبادا بلایی را که به پدرم واقع شود ببینم.»

For how can I go up unto my father, should the lad, not be with me? lest I look on the calamity, that shall find out my father,
