| و ابراهیم پیر و سالخورده شد، وخداوند، ابراهیم را در هر چیز برکت داد. | ۱ 1 |
Now, Abraham, was old, far gone in days, —and, Yahweh, had blessed Abraham, in all things.
| و ابراهیم به خادم خود، که بزرگ خانه وی، و بر تمام مایملک او مختار بود، گفت: «اکنون دست خود را زیر ران من بگذار. | ۲ 2 |
So Abraham said unto his servant, elder of his house, ruler of all that he had, —Place, I pray thee thy hand under my thigh;
| و به یهوه، خدای آسمان و خدای زمین، تو را قسم می‌دهم، که زنی برای پسرم از دختر کنعانیان، که در میان ایشان ساکنم، نگیری، | ۳ 3 |
that I may put thee on oath, by Yahweh God of the heavens and God of the earth—That thou wilt not take a wife for my son, from among the daughters of the Canaanites in the midst of whom, I, am dwelling:
| بلکه به ولایت من و به مولدم بروی، و از آنجا زنی برای پسرم اسحاق بگیری.» | ۴ 4 |
but unto my own land and unto my own kindred, wilt go, —So shalt thou take a wife for my son—for Isaac.
| خادم به وی گفت: «شاید آن زن راضی نباشد که با من بدین زمین بیاید؟ آیا پسرت را بدان زمینی که از آن بیرون آمدی، بازبرم؟» | ۵ 5 |
And the servant said unto him, Peradventure the woman may not be willing to follow me into this land, —May I take back thy son, into the land from whence thou camest?
| ابراهیم وی را گفت: «زنهار، پسر مرا بدانجا باز مبری. | ۶ 6 |
And Abraham said unto him, —Beware that thou do not take back my son thither!
| یهوه، خدای آسمان، که مرا از خانه پدرم و اززمین مولد من، بیرون آورد، و به من تکلم کرد، وقسم خورده، گفت: “که این زمین را به ذریت توخواهم داد.” او فرشته خود را پیش روی توخواهد فرستاد، تا زنی برای پسرم از آنجا بگیری. | ۷ 7 |
Yahweh, God of the heavens, and God of the earth, who took me out of the house of my father, and out of the land of my kindred, and, who spake to me, and who sware to me, saying, To thy seed, will I give this land, he, will send his messenger before thee, so shalt thou take a wife for my son from thence.
| اما اگر آن زن از آمدن با تو رضا ندهد، از این قسم من، بری خواهی بود، لیکن زنهار، پسر مرابدانجا باز نبری.» | ۸ 8 |
But if unwilling be the woman to follow thee, then shalt thou be clear from this mine oath, —Only my son, shalt thou not take back thither
| پس خادم دست خود را زیرران آقای خود ابراهیم نهاد، و در این امر برای اوقسم خورد. | ۹ 9 |
So the servant placed his hand, under the thigh of Abraham, his lord, —and sware to him, over this thing.
| و خادم ده شتر، از شتران آقای خود گرفته، برفت. و همه اموال مولایش به‌دست او بود. پس روانه شده، به شهر ناحور در ارام نهرین آمد. | ۱۰ 10 |
Then took the servant ten camels, from among the camels of his lord, and went his way, —all the goods of his master being in his hand, —so be mounted, and went his way unto Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor.
| وبه وقت عصر، هنگامی که زنان برای کشیدن آب بیرون می‌آمدند، شتران خود را در خارج شهر، برلب چاه آب خوابانید. | ۱۱ 11 |
And he made the camels kneel down outside the city, against the well of water, —at the time of evening, at the time of the coming forth of the women that drew water,
| و گفت: «ای یهوه، خدای آقایم ابراهیم، امروز مرا کامیاب بفرما، و باآقایم ابراهیم احسان بنما. | ۱۲ 12 |
Then he said, O Yahweh, God of my lord Abraham! I pray thee cause it to fall out before me today, that thou deal in lovingkindness with my lord Abraham.
| اینک من بر این چشمه آب ایستاده‌ام، و دختران اهل این شهر، به جهت کشیدن آب بیرون می‌آیند. | ۱۳ 13 |
Here am, I, stationed by the fountain of water, —and, the daughters of the men of the city, are coming forth to draw water:
| پس چنین بشود که آن دختری که به وی گویم: “سبوی خودرا فرودآر تا بنوشم “، و او گوید: “بنوش و شترانت را نیز سیراب کنم “، همان باشد که نصیب بنده خود اسحاق کرده باشی، تا بدین، بدانم که با آقایم احسان فرموده‌ای.» | ۱۴ 14 |
so it shall come to pass that the young woman unto whom I shall say. Let down pray. thy pitcher that I may drink, and she shall say, Drink, and to thy camels also, will I give to drink, that, her! hast thou appointed for thy servant for Isaac, And, hereby, shall I get to know, that thou hast dealt in lovingkindness with my lord!
| و او هنوز از سخن‌گفتن فارغ نشده بود که ناگاه، رفقه، دختر بتوئیل، پسر ملکه، زن ناحور، برادر ابراهیم، بیرون آمد و سبویی بر کتف داشت. | ۱۵ 15 |
And it came to pass, ere yet, he, had done speaking, that lo! Rebekah, was coming forth who had been born to Bethuel son of Milcah, wife of Nahor, brother of Abraham, —with her pitcher upon her shoulder,
| و آن دختر بسیار نیکومنظر و باکره بود، ومردی او را نشناخته بود. پس به چشمه فرورفت، و سبوی خود را پر کرده، بالا آمد. | ۱۶ 16 |
Now the young woman! was of very pleasing appearance, a virgin whom, no man, had known, —and she went down unto the fountain, and filled her pitcher and came up.
| آنگاه خادم به استقبال او بشتافت و گفت: «جرعه‌ای آب ازسبوی خود به من بنوشان.» | ۱۷ 17 |
And the servant ran to meet her, —and said, I pray thee let me drink a little water out of thy pitcher.
| گفت: «ای آقای من بنوش»، و سبوی خود را بزودی بر دست خودفرودآورده، او را نوشانید. | ۱۸ 18 |
And she said, Drink my lord, —And she hastened and lowered her pitcher on her hand and let him drink.
| و چون ازنوشانیدنش فارغ شد، گفت: «برای شترانت نیزبکشم تا از نوشیدن بازایستند.» | ۱۹ 19 |
And when she had done giving him drink, —she said For thy camels also, will I draw, until they have done drinking.
| پس سبوی خود را بزودی در آبخور خالی کرد و باز به سوی چاه، برای کشیدن بدوید، و از بهر همه شترانش کشید. | ۲۰ 20 |
So she hastened and emptied her pitcher into the drinking-trough, and ran again unto the well, to draw, —and she drew for all his camels.
| و آن مرد بر وی چشم دوخته بود وسکوت داشت، تا بداند که خداوند، سفر او راخیریت اثر نموده است یا نه. | ۲۱ 21 |
Now the man, was eagerly watching her, —keeping silence to see—whether Yahweh had prospered his way., or not.
| و واقع شد، چون شتران از نوشیدن بازایستادند، که آن مرد حلقه طلای نیم مثقال وزن، ودو ابرنجین برای دستهایش، که ده مثقال طلا وزن آنها بود، بیرون آورد. | ۲۲ 22 |
And it came to pass when the camels had done drinking, that the man took a ring of gold, half a shekel its weight, —and two bracelets for her hands, ten of gold their weight;
| و گفت: «به من بگو که دختر کیستی؟ آیا در خانه پدرت جایی برای ماباشد تا شب را بسر بریم؟» | ۲۳ 23 |
and said Whose daughter art, thou? I pray thee, tell me. Is there in the house of thy father a place for us to tarry the night?
| وی را گفت: «من دختر بتوئیل، پسر ملکه که او را از ناحور زایید، می‌باشم.» | ۲۴ 24 |
And she said unto him, Daughter of Bethuel, am, I,—[Bethuel] son of Milcah whom she bare to Nahor.
| و بدو گفت: «نزد ما کاه و علف فراوان است، و جای نیز برای منزل.» | ۲۵ 25 |
And she said unto him, Both straw and fodder in plenty, have we, —also a place to tarry the night.
| آنگاه آن مرد خم شد، خداوند را پرستش نمود | ۲۶ 26 |
Then the man bowed his head, and bent himself down unto Yahweh;
| و گفت: «متبارک باد یهوه، خدای آقایم ابراهیم، که لطف و وفای خود را از آقایم دریغ نداشت، و چون من در راه بودم، خداوند مرا به خانه برادران آقایم راهنمایی فرمود.» | ۲۷ 27 |
and said, Blessed be Yahweh. God of my lord Abraham, who hath not withdrawn his lovingkindness and his faithfulness, from my lord, —I—being in the way, Yahweh led me unto the house of the brethren of my lord!
| پس آن دختر دوان دوان رفته، اهل خانه مادر خویش را از این وقایع خبر داد. | ۲۸ 28 |
And the young woman ran, and told the household of her mother, —according to these words.
| و رفقه رابرادری لابان نام بود. پس لابان به نزد آن مرد، به‌سر چشمه، دوان دوان بیرون آمد. | ۲۹ 29 |
Now, Rebekah, had a brother, whose name, was Laban, —so Laban ran unto the man outside, unto the fountain.
| و واقع شدکه چون آن حلقه و ابرنجینها را بر دستهای خواهر خود دید، و سخنهای خواهر خود، رفقه را شنید که می‌گفت آن مرد چنین به من گفته است، به نزد وی آمد. و اینک نزد شتران به‌سر چشمه ایستاده بود. | ۳۰ 30 |
And it came to pass, when he saw the ring, and the bracelets on the hands of his sister, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister saying, Thus, did the man speak unto me, that he came unto the man, and lo! he was standing by the camels near the fountain;
| و گفت: «ای مبارک خداوند، بیا، چرا بیرون ایستاده‌ای؟ من خانه را و منزلی برای شتران، مهیا ساخته‌ام.» | ۳۱ 31 |
and he said, Come in. thou blessed of Yahweh, —Wherefore shouldst thou stand outside, when I have made ready the house and a place for the camels?
| پس آن مرد به خانه درآمد، و لابان شتران را باز کرد، و کاه و علف به شتران داد، و آب به جهت شستن پایهایش و پایهای رفقایش آورد. | ۳۲ 32 |
So the man came in towards the house, and ungirded the camels, —and there was given him straw and fodder for the camels, and water for bathing his own feet and the feet of the men who were with him;
| و غذا پیش او نهادند. وی گفت: «تا مقصود خود را بازنگویم، چیزی نخورم.» گفت: «بگو.» | ۳۳ 33 |
and [food] was set before him to eat, But he said, I cannot eat, until I have spoken my words. And he said—Speak!
| گفت: «من خادم ابراهیم هستم. | ۳۴ 34 |
Then said he, —Servant of Abraham, am I.
| وخداوند، آقای مرا بسیار برکت داده و او بزرگ شده است، و گله‌ها و رمه‌ها و نقره و طلا و غلامان و کنیزان و شتران و الاغان بدو داده است. | ۳۵ 35 |
Now, Yahweh, having blessed my lord exceedingly, and made him great, —and given him flocks and herds and silver and gold, and men-servants and maid-servants, and camels, and asses,
| وزوجه آقایم ساره، بعد از پیر شدن، پسری برای آقایم زایید، و آنچه دارد، بدو داده است. | ۳۶ 36 |
then did Sarah wife of my lord, bear a son to my lord, after she had become old, —so he gave to him all that he had;
| وآقایم مرا قسم داد و گفت که “زنی برای پسرم ازدختران کنعانیان که در زمین ایشان ساکنم، نگیری. | ۳۷ 37 |
And my lord put me on oath saying, —Thou shalt not take a wife for my son, of the daughters of the Canaanites in whose land, I, am dwelling;
| بلکه به خانه پدرم و به قبیله من بروی، و زنی برای پسرم بگیری.” | ۳۸ 38 |
but, unto the house of my father, shalt thou go, and unto my family, —and take a wife for my son.
| و به آقای خودگفتم: “شاید آن زن همراه من نیاید؟” | ۳۹ 39 |
So I said unto my lord, —Peradventure the woman will not follow me.
| او به من گفت: “یهوه که به حضور او سالک بوده‌ام، فرشته خود را با تو خواهد فرستاد، و سفر تو راخیریت اثر خواهد گردانید، تا زنی برای پسرم ازقبیله‌ام و از خانه پدرم بگیری. | ۴۰ 40 |
And he said unto me, —Yahweh, before whom I have walked to and fro, will send his messenger with thee, so shall he prosper thy way, and thou shalt take a wife for my son out of my kindred and out of the house of my father.
| آنگاه از قسم من بری خواهی گشت، چون به نزد قبیله‌ام رفتی، هرگاه زنی به تو ندادند، از سوگند من بری خواهی بود.” | ۴۱ 41 |
Then, shalt thou clear thyself from mine oath, for thou shalt go in unto my kindred, —and, if they will not grant her unto thee, then shalt thou be clear from mine oath.
| پس امروز به‌سر چشمه رسیدم و گفتم: “ای یهوه، خدای آقایم ابراهیم، اگر حال، سفر مراکه به آن آمده‌ام، کامیاب خواهی کرد. | ۴۲ 42 |
So I came in to-day, unto the fountain, —and I said O Yahweh God of my lord Abraham! if, I pray thee thou art prospering my way whereon I am going,
| اینک من به‌سر این چشمه آب ایستاده‌ام. پس چنین بشودکه آن دختری که برای کشیدن آب بیرون آید، وبه وی گویم: “مرا از سبوی خود جرعه‌ای آب بنوشان “، | ۴۳ 43 |
here, am I stationed by the fountain of water, —so then it shall come to pass that, the maiden that is coming forth to draw, and I shall say unto her Let me drink. I pray thee a little water out of thy pitcher;
| و به من گوید: “بیاشام، و برای شترانت نیز آب می‌کشم “، او همان زن باشد که خداوند، نصیب آقازاده من کرده است. | ۴۴ 44 |
and she shall say unto me Both, thou, drink, and for thy camels also, will I draw, the same, shall be the woman whom Yahweh hath appointed for the son of my lord.
| و من هنوز از گفتن این، در دل خود فارغ نشده بودم، که ناگاه، رفقه با سبویی بر کتف خود بیرون آمد، و به چشمه پایین رفت، تا آب بکشد. و به وی گفتم: “جرعه‌ای آب به من بنوشان.” | ۴۵ 45 |
Ere yet, I, could make an end of speaking unto mine own heart, lo! then Rebekah, coming forth, with her pitcher on her shoulder, and she went down to the fountain, and drew, —and I said unto her Let me drink I pray thee!
| پس سبوی خودرا بزودی از کتف خود فروآورده، گفت: “بیاشام، و شترانت را نیز آب می‌دهم.” پس نوشیدم وشتران را نیز آب داد. | ۴۶ 46 |
So she hastened and lowered her pitcher from off her, and said. Drink! and to thy camels also, will I give to drink, —So I drank and the camels also, she let drink.
| و از او پرسیده، گفتم: “تودختر کیستی؟” گفت: “دختر بتوئیل بن ناحور که ملکه، او را برای او زایید.” پس حلقه را در بینی او، و ابرنجینها را بر دستهایش گذاشتم. | ۴۷ 47 |
Then I asked her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she said Daughter of Bethuel son of Nahor, whom, Milcah, bare to him, —Then put I the ring upon her nose, and the bracelets upon her hands;
| آنگاه سجده کرده، خداوند را پرستش نمودم. و یهوه، خدای آقای خود ابراهیم را، متبارک خواندم، که مرا به راه راست هدایت فرمود، تا دختر برادرآقای خود را، برای پسرش بگیرم. | ۴۸ 48 |
and bowed my head and bent myself down unto Yahweh, —and I blessed Yahweh God of my lord Abraham, who had led me in a way of faithfulness, to take the daughter of the brother of my lord for his son.
| اکنون اگربخواهید با آقایم احسان و صداقت کنید، پس مراخبر دهید. و اگر نه مرا خبر دهید، تا بطرف راست یا چپ ره سپر شوم.» | ۴۹ 49 |
Now, therefore, if ye are dealing in lovingkindness and faithfulness with my lord, tell me, —and, if not, tell me, that I may turn unto the right hand or unto the left.
| لابان و بتوئیل در جواب گفتند: «این امر ازخداوند صادر شده است، با تو نیک یا بدنمی توانیم گفت. | ۵۰ 50 |
Then answered Laban and Bethuel and said, from Yahweh, hath come forth the word, —we cannot speak unto thee ill or well.
| اینک رفقه حاضر است، او رابرداشته، روانه شو تا زن پسر آقایت باشد، چنانکه خداوند گفته است.» | ۵۱ 51 |
Lo! Rebekah, is before thee, Take her and go thy way, —And let her become wife unto the son of thy lord, as Yahweh hath spoken.
| و واقع شد که چون خادم ابراهیم سخن ایشان را شنید، خداوند را به زمین سجده کرد. | ۵۲ 52 |
And it came to pass when Abraham’s servant heard their words, that he bowed himself down towards the earth unto Yahweh.
| و خادم، آلات نقره و آلات طلا و رختها رابیرون آورده، پیشکش رفقه کرد، و برادر و مادر اورا چیزهای نفیسه داد. | ۵۳ 53 |
Then the servant brought forth jewels of silver and jewels of gold and raiment, and gave unto Rebekah, —and precious things, gave he to her brother and to her mother.
| و او و رفقایش خوردندو آشامیدند و شب را بسر بردند. و بامدادان برخاسته، گفت: «مرا به سوی آقایم روانه نمایید.» | ۵۴ 54 |
And they did eat and drink he, and the men who were with him, and they tarried the night, —and when they arose in the morning, he said Let me go unto my lord!
| برادر و مادر او گفتند: «دختر با ما ده روزی بماند و بعد از آن روانه شود.» | ۵۵ 55 |
Then said her brother and her mother, Let the young woman remain with us some days or rather ten, —After that, she shall go.
| بدیشان گفت: «مرا معطل مسازید، خداوند سفر مرا کامیاب گردانیده است، پس مرا روانه نمایید تا بنزد آقای خود بروم.» | ۵۶ 56 |
And he said unto them, Do not hinder me, when, Yahweh, hath prospered my journey, —Let me go, that I may take my journey unto my lord!
| گفتند: «دختر را بخوانیم و اززبانش بپرسیم.» | ۵۷ 57 |
Then said they, We must call the young woman and ask at her mouth.
| پس رفقه را خواندند و به وی گفتند: «با این مرد خواهی رفت؟» گفت: «می‌روم.» | ۵۸ 58 |
So they called Rebekah and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go.
| آنگاه خواهر خود رفقه، و دایه‌اش را، با خادم ابراهیم و رفقایش روانه کردند. | ۵۹ 59 |
So they let go Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham’s servant and his men.
| ورفقه را برکت داده به وی گفتند: «تو خواهر ماهستی، مادر هزار کرورها باش، و ذریت تو، دروازه دشمنان خود را متصرف شوند.» | ۶۰ 60 |
And they blessed Rebekah and said to her, Our sister! become thou, thousands of ten thousands, —And let thy seed take possession of the gate of them that hate them!
| پس رفقه با کنیزانش برخاسته، بر شتران سوار شدند، و از عقب آن مرد روانه گردیدند. وخادم، رفقه را برداشته، برفت. | ۶۱ 61 |
Then mounted Rebekah and her young woman and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man, —so the servant took Rebekah. and went his way.
| و اسحاق از راه بئرلحی رئی می‌آمد، زیرا که او در ارض جنوب ساکن بود. | ۶۲ 62 |
Now, Isaac, had come in at the entrance, of Beer-lahai-roi, —for, he, was dwelling in the land of the South:
| و هنگام شام، اسحاق برای تفکر به صحرا بیرون رفت، و چون نظر بالا کرد، دید که شتران می‌آیند. | ۶۳ 63 |
and Isaac came forth to meditate in the field at the approach of evening, —so he lifted up his eyes and looked, and lo! camels, coming in.
| و رفقه چشمان خود را بلندکرده، اسحاق را دید، و از شتر خود فرود آمد، | ۶۴ 64 |
And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and saw Isaac, —so she alighted with haste from off the camel;
| زیرا که از خادم پرسید: «این مرد کیست که درصحرا به استقبال ما می‌آید؟» و خادم گفت: «آقای من است.» پس برقع خود را گرفته، خود راپوشانید. | ۶۵ 65 |
and said unto the servant, Who is this man that is walking in the field to meet us? And the servant said, That, is my lord. So she took the veil and covered herself.
| و خادم، همه کارهایی را که کرده بود، به اسحاق باز‌گفت. | ۶۶ 66 |
And the servant recounted to Isaac, —all the things which he had done.
| و اسحاق، رفقه را به خیمه مادر خود، ساره، آورد، و او را به زنی خود گرفته، دل در او بست. و اسحاق بعد از وفات مادر خود، تسلی پذیرفت. | ۶۷ 67 |
And Isaac brought her into the tent of Sarah his mother; thus he took Rebekah and she became his wife and he loved her, —and Isaac consoled himself, for the loss of his mother.
