خروج 5

۱ 1 و بعد از آن موسی و هارون آمده، به فرعون گفتند: «یهوه خدای اسرائیل چنین می‌گوید: قوم مرا رها کن تا برای من در صحرا عیدنگاه دارند.»

And after this went in Moses and Aaron to Pharao, and they said to him, These things says the Lord God of Israel, Send my people away, that they may keep a feast to me in the wilderness.

۲ 2 فرعون گفت: «یهوه کیست که قول او را بشنوم و اسرائیل را رهایی دهم؟ یهوه رانمی شناسم و اسرائیل را نیز رها نخواهم کرد.»

And Pharao said, Who is he that I should hearken to his voice, so that I should send away the children of Israel? I do not know the Lord, and I will not let Israel go.

۳ 3 گفتند: «خدای عبرانیان ما را ملاقات کرده است، پس الان سفر سه روزه به صحرا برویم، ونزد یهوه، خدای خود، قربانی بگذرانیم، مبادا مارا به وبا یا شمشیر مبتلا سازد.»

And they say to him, The God of the Hebrews has called us to him: we will go therefore a three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God, lest at any time death or slaughter happen to us.

۴ 4 پس پادشاه مصربدیشان گفت: «ای موسی و هارون چرا قوم را ازکارهای ایشان بازمی دارید؟ به شغلهای خودبروید!»

And the king of Egypt said to them, Why do ye, Moses and Aaron, turn the people from their works? depart each of you to your works.

۵ 5 و فرعون گفت: «اینک الان اهل زمین بسیارند، و ایشان را از شغلهای ایشان بیکارمی سازید.»

And Pharao said, Behold now, the people is very numerous; let us not then give them rest from their work.

۶ 6 و در آن روز، فرعون سرکاران و ناظران قوم خود را قدغن فرموده، گفت:

And Pharao gave orders to the task-masters of the people and the accountants, saying,

۷ 7 «بعد از این، کاه برای خشت سازی مثل سابق بدین قوم مدهید. خود بروند و کاه برای خویشتن جمع کنند.

Ye shall no longer give straw to the people for brick-making as yesterday and the third day; but let them go themselves, and collect straw for themselves.

۸ 8 وهمان حساب خشتهایی را که پیشتر می‌ساختند، برایشان بگذارید، و از آن هیچ کم مکنید، زیراکاهلند، و از این‌رو فریاد می‌کنند و می‌گویند: برویم تا برای خدای خود قربانی گذرانیم.

And thou shalt impose on them daily the rate of brick-making which they perform: thou shalt not abate anything, for they are idle; therefore have they cried, saying, Let us arise and do sacrifice to our God.

۹ 9 وخدمت ایشان سخت‌تر شود تا در آن مشغول شوند، و به سخنان باطل اعتنا نکنند.»

Let the works of these men be made grievous, and let them care for these things, and not care for vain words.

۱۰ 10 پس سرکاران و ناظران قوم بیرون آمده، قوم را خطاب کرده، گفتند: «فرعون چنین می‌فرماید که من کاه به شما نمی دهم.

And the taskmasters and the accountants hastened them, and they spoke to the people, saying, thus says Pharao, I [will] give you straw no longer.

۱۱ 11 خود بروید و کاه برای خود ازهرجا که بیابید بگیرید، و از خدمت شما هیچ کم نخواهد شد.»

Go ye, yourselves, get for yourselves straw whencesoever ye can find it, for nothing is diminished from your rate.

۱۲ 12 پس قوم در تمامی زمین مصر پراکنده شدند تا خاشاک به عوض کاه جمع کنند.

So the people were dispersed in all the land of Egypt, to gather stubble for straw.

۱۳ 13 وسرکاران، ایشان را شتابانیده، گفتند: «کارهای خود را تمام کنید، یعنی حساب هر روز را درروزش، مثل وقتی که کاه بود.»

and the taskmasters hastened them, saying, Fulfil your regular daily tasks, even as when straw was given you.

۱۴ 14 و ناظران، بنی‌اسرائیل را که سرکاران فرعون بر ایشان گماشته بودند، می‌زدند و می‌گفتند: «چرا خدمت معین خشت سازی خود را در این‌روزها مثل سابق تمام نمی کنید؟»

And the accountants of the race of the children of Israel, who were set over them by the masters of Pharao, were scourged, [[and questioned, ] men] saying, Why have ye not fulfilled your rates of brick-work as yesterday and the third day, to-day also?

۱۵ 15 آنگاه ناظران بنی‌اسرائیل آمده، نزد فرعون فریاد کرده، گفتند: «چرا به بندگان خود چنین می‌کنی؟

And the accountants of the children of Israel went in and cried to Pharao, saying, Why dost thou act thus to thy servants?

۱۶ 16 کاه به بندگانت نمی دهند و می‌گویند: خشت برای مابسازید! و اینک بندگانت را می‌زنند و اما خطا ازقوم تو می‌باشد.»

Straw is not given to thy servants, and they tell us to make brick; and behold thy servants have been scourged: thou wilt therefore injure thy people.

۱۷ 17 گفت: «کاهل هستید. شماکاهلید! از این سبب شما می‌گویید: برویم و برای خداوند قربانی بگذرانیم.

And he said to them, Ye are idle, ye are idlers: therefore ye say, Let us go [and] do sacrifice to our God.

۱۸ 18 اکنون رفته، خدمت بکنید، و کاه به شما داده نخواهد شد، و حساب خشت را خواهید داد.»

Now then go and work, for straw shall not be given to you, yet ye shall return the rate of bricks.

۱۹ 19 و ناظران بنی‌اسرائیل دیدند که در بدی گرفتار شده‌اند، زیرا گفت: «ازحساب یومیه خشتهای خود هیچ کم مکنید.»

And the accountants of the children of Israel saw themselves in an evil plight, [men] saying, Ye shall not fail to deliver the daily rate of the brick-making.

۲۰ 20 و چون از نزد فرعون بیرون آمدند، به موسی وهارون برخوردند، که برای ملاقات ایشان ایستاده بودند.

And they met Moses and Aaron coming forth to meet them, as they came forth from Pharao.

۲۱ 21 و بدیشان گفتند: «خداوند بر شما بنگردو داوری فرماید! زیرا که رایحه ما را نزد فرعون وملازمانش متعفن ساخته‌اید، و شمشیری به‌دست ایشان داده‌اید تا ما را بکشند.»

And they said to them, The Lord look upon you and judge you, for ye have made our savour abominable before Pharao, and before his servants, to put a sword into his hands to slay us.

۲۲ 22 آنگاه موسی نزد خداوند برگشته، گفت: «خداوندا چرا بدین قوم بدی کردی؟ و برای چه مرا فرستادی؟

And Moses turned to the Lord, and said, I pray, Lord, why hast thou afflicted this people? and wherefore hast thou sent me?

۲۳ 23 زیرا از وقتی که نزد فرعون آمدم تا به نام تو سخن گویم، بدین قوم بدی کرده است و قوم خود را هرگز خلاصی ندادی.»

For from the time that I went to Pharao to speak in thy name, he has afflicted this people, and thou hast not delivered thy people.
