کارهای رسولان 16

۱ 1 و به دربه و لستره آمد که اینک شاگردی تیموتاوس نام آنجا بود، پسر زن یهودیه مومنه لیکن پدرش یونانی بود.

And he came also to Derbe and Lystra, where there was a certain disciple named Timothy, the son of a believing Jewess, and of a Greek father.

۲ 2 که برادران در لستره و ایقونیه بر او شهادت می‌دادند.

He was well spoken of by the brothers in Lystra and Iconiun.

۳ 3 چون پولس خواست او همراه وی بیاید، او راگرفته مختون ساخت، به‌سبب یهودیانی که در آن نواحی بودند زیرا که همه پدرش را می‌شناختندکه یونانی بود.

Now Paul, wishing that this man should accompany him on his journey, took him and circumcised him because of the local Jews, who all knew that his father was a Greek.

۴ 4 و در هر شهری که می‌گشتند، قانونها را که رسولان و کشیشان در اورشلیم حکم فرموده بودند، بدیشان می‌سپردند تا حفظ نمایند.

And as they went on their way through the cities they handed them the resolutions which the apostles and the elders in Jerusalem had ordained for them to keep.

۵ 5 پس کلیساها در ایمان استوار می‌شدند و روزبروز در شماره افزوده می‌گشتند.

So the churches were strengthened in the faith and continued to increase in number daily.

۶ 6 و چون از فریجیه و دیار غلاطیه عبورکردند، روح‌القدس ایشان را از رسانیدن کلام به آسیا منع نمود.

Then they went through Phrygia and Galatia, the Holy Spirit having forbidden them to proclaim the message in Asia.

۷ 7 پس به میسیا آمده، سعی نمودندکه به بطینیا بروند، لیکن روح عیسی ایشان رااجازت نداد.

When they got as far as Mysia, they attempted to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not permit it;

۸ 8 و از میسیا گذشته به ترواس رسیدند.

and so they passed by Mysia and went on down to Troas.

۹ 9 شبی پولس را رویایی رخ نمود که شخصی از اهل مکادونیه ایستاده بود التماس نموده گفت: «به مکادونیه آمده، ما را امداد فرما.»

Here a vision appeared to Paul in the night. There stood a man of Macedonia, entreating him and saying, "Come over into Macedonia and help us!"

۱۰ 10 چون این‌رویا را دید، بی‌درنگ عازم سفرمکادونیه شدیم، زیرا به یقین دانستیم که خداوندما را خوانده است تا بشارت بدیشان رسانیم.

So when he had seen the vision, we sought at once to go forth into Macedonia, because we concluded that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.

۱۱ 11 پس از ترواس به کشتی نشسته، به راه مستقیم به ساموتراکی رفتیم و روز دیگر به نیاپولیس.

So we set sail from Troas and ran a straight course to Samothrace. The next day we arrived in Neapolis,

۱۲ 12 و از آنجا به فیلپی رفتیم که شهر اول ازسرحد مکادونیه و کلونیه است و در آن شهر‌چندروز توقف نمودیم.

and thence came to Philippi, a city of Macedonia, the fore most in its district, a Roman colony. There we stayed for some time.

۱۳ 13 و در روز سبت از شهربیرون شده و به کنار رودخانه جایی که نماز می گذاردند، نشسته با زنانی که در آنجا جمع می‌شدند سخن راندیم.

On the Sabbath Day we went outside the city gate, to a riverside, where we supposed there was a place of prayer; and we sat down and talked to the women who had gathered there.

۱۴ 14 و زنی لیدیه نام، ارغوان فروش، که از شهر طیاتیرا و خداپرست بود، می‌شنید که خداوند دل او را گشود تا سخنان پولس را بشنود.

Among them was a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, who belonged to the town of Thyatira. She, since she was a worshiper of God, listened to us, and the Lord opened her heart to attend to what Paul said.

۱۵ 15 و چون او و اهل خانه‌اش تعمید یافتند، خواهش نموده، گفت: «اگر شما رایقین است که به خداوند ایمان آوردم، به خانه من درآمده، بمانید.» و ما را الحاح نمود.

When she was baptized, and her household, she urged us, saying, "If in your judgment I am a believer in the Lord, come and stay at my house." And she compelled us to come.

۱۶ 16 و واقع شد که چون ما به محل نمازمی رفتیم، کنیزی که روح تفال داشت و ازغیب گویی منافع بسیار برای آقایان خود پیدامی نمود، به ما برخورد.

Now as we were going to the place of prayer, a certain slave girl met us, who had a spirit of divination, and who brought her masters great gain by fortune-telling.

۱۷ 17 و از عقب پولس و ماآمده، ندا کرده، می‌گفت که «این مردمان خدام خدای تعالی می‌باشند که شما را از طریق نجات اعلام می‌نمایند.»

She used to follow after Paul and us, crying out again and again, "These men are servants of the most high God, who proclaimed to you the way of salvation."

۱۸ 18 و چون این کار را روزهای بسیار می‌کرد، پولس دلتنگ شده، برگشت و به روح گفت: «تو را می‌فرمایم به نام عیسی مسیح ازاین دختر بیرون بیا.» که در ساعت از او بیرون شد.

She persisted in this for many days, until Paul, worn out, turned round and said to the spirit, "I charge you, in the name of Jesus Christ, to come out of her." In that very hour it came out of her.

۱۹ 19 اما چون آقایانش دیدند که از کسب خودمایوس شدند، پولس و سیلاس را گرفته، در بازارنزد حکام کشیدند.

But when her owners saw that their hopes of gain were gone, they seized Paul and Silas, and dragged them before the magistrates, into the market-place.

۲۰ 20 و ایشان را نزد والیان حاضرساخته، گفتند: «این دو شخص شهر ما را به شورش آورده‌اند و از یهود هستند،

Then they brought them before the praetors, saying. "These fellows are Jews, who are making a great disturbance in our city.

۲۱ 21 و رسومی را اعلام می‌نمایند که پذیرفتن و به‌جا آوردن آنهابر ما که رومیان هستیم، جایز نیست.»

"They are teaching customs which it is not lawful for us as Romans to adopt or practise."

۲۲ 22 پس خلق بر ایشان هجوم آوردند و والیان جامه های ایشان را کنده، فرمودند ایشان را چوب بزنند.

The crowd, too, rose up together against them, and the praetors, after having them stripped, and after ordering them to be flogged,

۲۳ 23 و چون ایشان را چوب بسیار زدند، به زندان افکندند و داروغه زندان را تاکید فرمودند که ایشان را محکم نگاه دارد.

had many lashes inflicted upon them, and put them in prison, with a charge to the jailer to keep them safe.

۲۴ 24 و چون او بدینطورامر یافت، ایشان را به زندان درونی انداخت وپایهای ایشان را در کنده مضبوط کرد.

On receiving so strict an order he cast them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.

۲۵ 25 اما قریب به نصف شب، پولس و سیلاس دعا کرده، خدا را تسبیح می‌خواندند و زندانیان ایشان را می‌شنیدند.

But at midnight, while Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them,

۲۶ 26 که ناگاه زلزله‌ای عظیم حادث گشت بحدی که بیناد زندان به جنبش درآمد و دفعه همه درها باز شد و زنجیرها از همه فرو ریخت.

suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the very foundations of the prison-house were shaken; and instantly all the doors were opened, and every one’s chains fell off.

۲۷ 27 اما داروغه بیدار شده، چون درهای زندان را گشوده دید، شمشیر خود راکشیده، خواست خود را بکشد زیرا گمان برد که زندانیان فرار کرده‌اند.

The jailer, roused from sleep, and seeing the doors wide open, drew his sword and was about to kill himself, because he thought that the prisoners had escaped.

۲۸ 28 اما پولس به آواز بلندصدا زده، گفت: «خود را ضرری مرسان زیرا که ماهمه در اینجا هستیم.»

But Paul shouted loudly to him. "Do yourself no harm; for we are all here!"

۲۹ 29 پس چراغ طلب نموده، به اندرون جست و لرزان شده، نزد پولس وسیلاس افتاد.

So he called for lights, and sprang in, and, trembling for fear, fell down before Paul and Silas,

۳۰ 30 و ایشان را بیرون آورده، گفت: «ای آقایان، مرا چه باید کرد تا نجات یابم؟»

and brought them out, saying, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

۳۱ 31 گفتند: «به خداوند عیسی مسیح ایمان آور که تو و اهل خانه ات نجات خواهید یافت.»

"Believe on the Lord Jesus," they answered, "and you will be saved, you and all your household."

۳۲ 32 آنگاه کلام خداوند را برای او وتمامی اهل بیتش بیان کردند.

Then they spoke the message of the Lord to him, as well as to all who were in his house.

۳۳ 33 پس ایشان را برداشته، در همان ساعت شب زخمهای ایشان را شست و خود و همه کسانش فی الفور تعمید یافتند.

And he took them, the same hour of the night, and washed their wounds, and he was baptized at once, he and all his.

۳۴ 34 و ایشان را به خانه خود درآورده، خوانی پیش ایشان نهاد و باتمامی عیال خود به خدا ایمان آورده، شادگردیدند.

And after bringing them up into his house, he set food before them, overjoyed with all his household in having believed in God.

۳۵ 35 اما چون روز شد، والیان فراشان فرستاده، گفتند: «آن دو شخص را رها نما.»

But in the morning the praetors sent their lictors with the order, "Let these men go."

۳۶ 36 آنگاه داروغه پولس را از این سخنان آگاهانیدکه «والیان فرستاده‌اند تا رستگار شوید. پس الان بیرون آمده، به سلامتی روانه شوید.»

The jailer reported the words to Paul, saying. "The praetors have sent to release you; so come out, and go in peace."

۳۷ 37 لیکن پولس بدیشان گفت: «ما را که مردمان رومی می‌باشیم، آشکارا و بی‌حجت زده، به زندان انداختند. آیا الان ما را به پنهانی بیرون می‌نمایند؟ نی بلکه خود آمده، ما را بیرون بیاورند.

But Paul said. "They have flogged us publicly, uncondemned, men that are Roman citizens; and have thrown us into prison. Are they now going to get rid of us secretly? No, indeed! Let them come here, themselves and take us out."

۳۸ 38 پس فراشان این سخنان را به والیان گفتند و چون شنیدند که رومی هستند بترسیدند

The lictors reported these words to the praetors, who were frightened when they heard that they were Romans.

۳۹ 39 و آمده، بدیشان التماس نموده، بیرون آوردندو خواهش کردند که از شهر بروند.

So they came and conciliated them, and after taking them out of prison, begged them to leave the town.

۴۰ 40 آنگاه اززندان بیرون آمده، به خانه لیدیه شتافتند و بابرادران ملاقات نموده و ایشان را نصیحت کرده، روانه شدند.

So Paul and Silas came out of the prison, and went to Lydia’s house; and after they had seen the brethren and encouraged them, they left Philippi.
