دوم سموئیل 1

۱ 1 و بعد از وفات شاول و مراجعت داود از مقاتله عمالقه واقع شد که داود دو روز درصقلغ توقف نمود.

And it comes to pass after the death of Saul, that David has returned from striking the Amalekite, and David dwells in Ziklag [for] two days,

۲ 2 و در روز سوم ناگاه شخصی از نزد شاول با لباس دریده و خاک بر سرش ریخته از لشکر آمد، و چون نزد داود رسید، به زمین افتاده، تعظیم نمود.

and it comes to pass, on the third day, that behold, a man has come in out of the camp from Saul, and his garments [are] torn, and earth [is] on his head; and it comes to pass in his coming to David, that he falls to the earth and pays respect.

۳ 3 و داود وی را گفت: «ازکجا آمدی؟» او در جواب وی گفت: «از لشکراسرائیل فرار کرده‌ام.»

And David says to him, “Where do you come from?” And he says to him, “I have escaped out of the camp of Israel.”

۴ 4 داود وی را گفت: «مراخبر بده که کار چگونه شده است.» او گفت: «قوم از جنگ فرار کردند و بسیاری از قوم نیز افتادند ومردند، و هم شاول و پسرش، یوناتان، مردند.»

And David says to him, “What has been the matter? Please declare [it] to me.” And he says, “That the people have fled from the battle, and also a multitude of the people have fallen, and they die; and also Saul and his son Jonathan have died.”

۵ 5 پس داود به جوانی که او را مخبر ساخته بود، گفت: «چگونه دانستی که شاول و پسرش یوناتان مرده‌اند.»

And David says to the youth who is declaring [it] to him, “How have you known that Saul and his son Jonathan [are] dead?”

۶ 6 و جوانی که او را مخبر ساخته بود، گفت: «اتفاق مرا در کوه جلبوع گذر افتاد و اینک شاول بر نیزه خود تکیه می‌نمود، و اینک ارابه‌ها وسواران او را به سختی تعاقب می‌کردند.

And the youth who is declaring [it] to him says, “I happened to meet in Mount Gilboa, and behold, Saul is leaning on his spear; and behold, the chariots and those possessing horses have followed him;

۷ 7 و به عقب نگریسته، مرا دید و مرا خواند و جواب دادم، لبیک.

and he turns behind him, and sees me, and calls to me, and I say, Here I [am].

۸ 8 او مرا گفت: تو کیستی؟ وی را گفتم: عمالیقی هستم.

And he says to me, Who [are] you? And I say to him, I [am] an Amalekite.

۹ 9 او به من گفت: تمنا اینکه بر من بایستی و مرا بکشی زیرا که پریشانی مرا در‌گرفته است چونکه تمام جانم تا بحال در من است.

And he says to me, Please stand over me and put me to death, for the arrow has seized me, for all my soul [is] still in me.

۱۰ 10 پس بر او ایستاده، او را کشتم زیرا دانستم که بعد از افتادنش زنده نخواهد ماند و تاجی که برسرش و بازوبندی که بر بازویش بود، گرفته، آنها را اینجا نزد آقایم آوردم.»

And I stand over him, and put him to death, for I knew that he does not live after his falling, and I take the crown which [is] on his head, and the bracelet which [is] on his arm, and bring them to my lord here.”

۱۱ 11 آنگاه داود جامه خود را گرفته، آن را دریدو تمامی کسانی که همراهش بودند، چنین کردند.

And David takes hold on his garments, and tears them, and also all the men who [are] with him,

۱۲ 12 و برای شاول و پسرش، یوناتان، و برای قوم خداوند و خاندان اسرائیل ماتم گرفتند و گریه کردند، و تا شام روزه داشتند، زیرا که به دم شمشیر افتاده بودند.

and they mourn, and weep, and fast until the evening, for Saul, and for his son Jonathan, and for the people of YHWH, and for the house of Israel, because they have fallen by the sword.

۱۳ 13 و داود به جوانی که او رامخبر ساخت، گفت: «تو از کجا هستی؟» او گفت: «من پسر مرد غریب عمالیقی هستم.»

And David says to the youth who is declaring [it] to him, “Where [are] you from?” And he says, “I [am] the son of a sojourner, an Amalekite.”

۱۴ 14 داود وی را گفت: «چگونه نترسیدی که دست خود را بلندکرده، مسیح خداوند را هلاک ساختی؟»

And David says to him, “How were you not afraid to put forth your hand to destroy the anointed of YHWH?”

۱۵ 15 آنگاه داود یکی از خادمان خود را طلبیده، گفت: «نزدیک آمده، او را بکش.» پس او را زد که مرد.

And David calls to one of the youths and says, “Draw near—fall on him”; and he strikes him, and he dies;

۱۶ 16 و داود او راگفت: «خونت بر سر خودت باشدزیرا که دهانت بر تو شهادت داده، گفت که من مسیح خداوند را کشتم.»

and David says to him, “Your blood [is] on your own head, for your mouth has testified against you, saying, I put to death the anointed of YHWH.”

۱۷ 17 و داود این مرثیه را درباره شاول و پسرش یوناتان انشا کرد.

And David laments with this lamentation over Saul, and over his son Jonathan;

۱۸ 18 و امر فرمود که نشید قوس رابه بنی یهودا تعلیم دهند. اینک در سفر یاشرمکتوب است:

and he says to teach the sons of Judah “The Bow”; behold, it is written on the Scroll of the Upright:

۱۹ 19 «زیبایی تو‌ای اسرائیل در مکانهای بلندت کشته شد. جباران چگونه افتادند.

“The beauty of Israel [Is] wounded on your high places; How the mighty have fallen!

۲۰ 20 در جت اطلاع ندهید و در کوچه های اشقلون خبر مرسانید، مبادا دختران فلسطینیان شادی کنند. و مبادا دختران نامختونان وجد نمایند.

Do not declare [it] in Gath, Do not proclaim the tidings in the streets of Ashkelon, Lest they rejoice—The daughters of the Philistines, Lest they exult—The daughters of the uncircumcised!

۲۱ 21 ‌ای کوههای جلبوع، شبنم و باران بر شما نبارد. و نه از کشتزارهایت هدایا بشود، زیرا در آنجاسپر جباران دور انداخته شد. سپر شاول که گویابه روغن مسح نشده بود.

Mountains of Gilboa! No dew nor rain be on you, And fields of raised-offerings! For there has become loathsome The shield of the mighty, The shield of Saul—without the anointed with oil.

۲۲ 22 از خون کشتگان و از پیه جباران، کمان یوناتان برنگردید. و شمشیر شاول تهی برنگشت.

From the blood of the wounded, From the fat of the mighty, The bow of Jonathan Has not turned backward; And the sword of Saul does not return empty.

۲۳ 23 شاول و یوناتان در حیات خویش محبوب نازنین بودند. و در موت خود از یکدیگر جدانشدند. از عقابها تیزپرتر و از شیران تواناتر بودند.

Saul and Jonathan! They are loved and pleasant in their lives, And in their death they have not been parted. They have been lighter than eagles, They have been mightier than lions!

۲۴ 24 ‌ای دختران اسرائیل برای شاول گریه کنید که شما را به قرمز و نفایس ملبس می‌ساخت وزیورهای طلا بر لباس شما می‌گذاشت.

Daughters of Israel! Weep for Saul, Who is clothing you [in] scarlet with delights. Who is lifting up ornaments of gold on your clothing.

۲۵ 25 شجاعان در معرض جنگ چگونه افتادند. ای یوناتان بر مکان های بلند خود کشته شدی.

How the mighty have fallen In the midst of the battle! Jonathan [was] wounded on your high places!

۲۶ 26 ‌ای برادر من یوناتان برای تو دلتنگ شده‌ام. برای من بسیار نازنین بودی. محبت تو با من عجیب تر از محبت زنان بود.

I am in distress for you, my brother Jonathan, You were very pleasant to me; Your love was wonderful to me, Above the love of women!

۲۷ 27 جباران چگونه افتادند. و چگونه اسلحه جنگ تلف شد.»

How the mighty have fallen, Indeed, the weapons of war perish!”
