دوم سموئیل 14

۱ 1 و یوآب بن صرویه فهمید که دل پادشاه به ابشالوم مایل است.

And when now Joab the son of Zeruyah perceived that the heart of the king was [turned] toward Abshalom:

۲ 2 پس یوآب به تقوع فرستاده، زنی دانشمند از آنجا آورد و به وی گفت: «تمنا اینکه خویشتن را مثل ماتم کننده ظاهر سازی، و لباس تعزیت پوشی و خود را به روغن تدهین نکنی و مثل زنی که روزهای بسیار به جهت مرده ماتم گرفته باشد، بشوی.

Then sent Joab to Tekoa', and he fetched thence a wise woman, and said to her, Feign. I pray thee, as though thou mournest, and do put on mourning garments, and anoint thyself not with oil; but be as a woman that hath these many days been mourning for the dead.

۳ 3 و نزدپادشاه داخل شده، او را بدین مضمون بگویی.» پس یوآب سخنان را به دهانش گذاشت.

And thou must come to the king and speak with him after these words: and Joab put the words into her mouth.

۴ 4 و چون زن تقوعیه با پادشاه سخن گفت، به روی خود به زمین افتاده، تعظیم نمود و گفت: «ای پادشاه، اعانت فرما.»

And the woman from Tekoa' spoke to the king, and fell on her face to the ground, and bowed herself, and said, Help, O king!

۵ 5 و پادشاه به او گفت: «تو راچه شده است؟» عرض کرد: «اینک من زن بیوه هستم و شوهرم مرده است.

And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she said, Truly, I am a widow-woman; since my husband is dead.

۶ 6 و کنیز تو را دو پسر بود و ایشان با یکدیگر در صحرا مخاصمه نمودند و کسی نبود که ایشان را از یکدیگر جداکند. پس یکی از ایشان دیگری را زد و کشت.

And thy hand-maid had two sons, and they two quarreled together in the field, and there was no one between them to help [either]; so the one smote the other, and slew him.

۷ 7 واینک تمامی قبیله بر کنیز تو برخاسته، و می‌گویندقاتل برادر خود را بسپار تا او را به عوض جان برادرش که کشته شده است، به قتل برسانیم، ووارث را نیز هلاک کنیم. و به اینطور اخگر مرا که باقی‌مانده است، خاموش خواهند کرد، و برای شوهرم نه اسم و نه اعقاب بر روی زمین واخواهند گذاشت.»

And, behold, the whole family is risen up against thy handmaid, and they said, Give up the slayer of his brother, that we may have him put to death, for the life of his brother whom he hath killed; and we will destroy also the heir: and thus they will quench my coal which is remaining, so as not to allow to my husband either name or remainder upon the face of the earth.

۸ 8 پادشاه به زن فرمود: «به خانه ات برو و من درباره ات حکم خواهم نمود.»

And the king said unto the woman, Go to thy house, and I will issue [my] charge concerning thee.

۹ 9 و زن تقوعیه به پادشاه عرض کرد: «ای آقایم پادشاه، تقصیر بر من و بر خاندان من باشد و پادشاه و کرسی اوبی تقصیر باشند.»

Then said the woman of Tekoa unto the king, On me, my Lord, O king, be the iniquity, and on my father's house: and may the king and his throne be guiltless.

۱۰ 10 و پادشاه گفت: «هر‌که با توسخن گوید، او را نزد من بیاور، و دیگر به تو ضررنخواهد رسانید.»

And the king said, Whosoever speaketh aught unto thee, bring him to me, and he shall not touch thee any more.

۱۱ 11 پس زن گفت: «ای پادشاه، یهوه، خدای خود را به یاد آور تا ولی مقتول، دیگر هلاک نکند، مبادا پسر مرا تلف سازند.» پادشاه گفت: «به حیات خداوند قسم که مویی ازسر پسرت به زمین نخواهد افتاد.»

Then said she, Let the king, I pray thee, remember the Lord thy God, so as not to suffer the avenger of the blood to cause yet more destruction, and that they may not destroy my son. And he said, As the Lord liveth, there shall not fall one hair of thy son to the earth.

۱۲ 12 پس زن گفت: «مستدعی آنکه کنیزت باآقای خود پادشاه سخنی گوید.» گفت: «بگو.»

Then said the woman, Let thy hand-maid, I pray thee, speak unto my Lord the king one word. And he said, Speak on.

۱۳ 13 زن گفت: «پس چرا درباره قوم خدا مثل این تدبیر کرده‌ای و پادشاه در گفتن این سخن مثل تقصیرکار است، چونکه پادشاه آواره شده خود راباز نیاورده است.

And the woman said, Wherefore then hast thou thought such a thing against the people of God? and since the king doth speak this thing, he is as a guilty man, if the king do not permit his banished one to return home.

۱۴ 14 زیرا ما باید البته بمیریم ومثل آب هستیم که به زمین ریخته شود، و آن رانتوان جمع کرد، و خدا جان را نمی گیرد بلکه تدبیرها می‌کند تا آواره شده‌ای از او آواره نشود.

For we must needs die, and are as water which is spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; and yet doth God not take away life; and he deviseth thoughts, so that the banished one may not remain banished from him.

۱۵ 15 و حال که به قصد عرض کردن این سخن، نزدآقای خود، پادشاه، آمدم، سبب این بود که خلق، مرا ترسانیدند، و کنیزت فکر کرد که چون به پادشاه عرض کنم، احتمال دارد که پادشاه عرض کنیز خود را به انجام خواهد رسانید.

And now that I am come to speak unto my Lord the king of this thing, [happened] because the people made me afraid; and therefore thy hand-maid said, I will still speak unto the king; perhaps the king may act [in accordance with] the word of his hand-maid.

۱۶ 16 زیراپادشاه اجابت خواهد نمود که کنیز خود را ازدست کسی‌که می‌خواهد مرا و پسرم را با هم ازمیراث خدا هلاک سازد، برهاند.

For the king may hear [me], to deliver his hand-maid out of the hand of the man [that desireth] to exterminate me and my son together out of the inheritance of God.

۱۷ 17 و کنیز تو فکرکرد که کلام آقایم، پادشاه، باعث تسلی خواهدبود، زیرا که آقایم، پادشاه، مثل فرشته خداست تانیک و بد را تشخیص کند، و یهوه، خدای توهمراه تو باشد.»

And thy hand-maid said, May the word of my Lord the king now become [the means of giving] repose; for as an angel of God, so is my Lord the king to comprehend the good and the bad: and may the Lord thy God be with thee.

۱۸ 18 پس پادشاه در جواب زن فرمود: «چیزی راکه از تو سوال می‌کنم، از من مخفی مدار.» زن عرض کرد «آقایم پادشاه، بفرماید.»

Then answered the king and said unto the woman, Conceal not, I pray thee, from me a word concerning what I am going to ask thee. And the woman said, Let my Lord the king but speak.

۱۹ 19 پادشاه گفت: «آیا دست یوآب در همه این کار با تونیست؟» زن در جواب عرض کرد: «به حیات جان تو، ای آقایم پادشاه که هیچ‌کس از هرچه آقایم پادشاه بفرماید به طرف راست یا چپ نمی تواندانحراف ورزد، زیرا که بنده تو یوآب، اوست که مرا امر فرموده است، و اوست که تمامی این سخنان را به دهان کنیزت گذاشته است.

And the king said, Is not the hand of Joab with thee in all this? And the woman answered and said, As thy soul liveth, my Lord, O king! none can turn to the right or to the left from all that my Lord the king hath spoken; for it was thy servant Joab who hath bidden me, and it was he that hath put in the mouth of thy hand-maid all these words.

۲۰ 20 برای تبدیل صورت این امر، بنده تو، یوآب، این کار راکرده است، اما حکمت آقایم، مثل حکمت فرشته خدا می‌باشد تا هر‌چه بر روی زمین است، بداند.»

In order to change the appearance of the matter hath thy servant Joab done this thing: and my Lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all that is [done] on the earth.

۲۱ 21 پس پادشاه به یوآب گفت: «اینک این کار راکرده‌ام. حال برو و ابشالوم جوان را باز آور.»

And the king said unto Joab, Behold, now, thou hast done this thing: go then, bring back the young man Abshalom.

۲۲ 22 آنگاه یوآب به روی خود به زمین افتاده، تعظیم نمود، و پادشاه را تحسین کرد و یوآب گفت: «ای آقایم پادشاه امروز بنده ات می‌داند که در نظر تو التفات یافته‌ام چونکه پادشاه کار بنده خود را به انجام رسانیده است.»

And Joab fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself, and blessed the king: and Joab said, Today is thy servant convinced that I have found grace in thy eyes, my Lord, O king; since the king hath acted in accordance with the word of thy servant.

۲۳ 23 پس یوآب برخاسته، به جشور رفت و ابشالوم را به اورشلیم بازآورد.

And Joab arose and went to Geshur, and brought Abshalom to Jerusalem.

۲۴ 24 و پادشاه فرمود که به خانه خودبرگردد و روی مرا نبیند. پس ابشالوم به خانه خودرفت و روی پادشاه را ندید.

And the king said, Let him repair to his own house, but my face he shall not see. So Abshalom repaired to his own house, but the king's face he did not see.

۲۵ 25 و در تمامی اسرائیل کسی نیکو منظر وبسیار ممدوح مثل ابشالوم نبود که از کف پا تا فرق سرش در او عیبی نبود.

And like Abshalom there was no man as handsome in all Israel, so that he was greatly praised: from the sole of his foot up to the crown of his head there was no blemish on him.

۲۶ 26 و هنگامی که موی سرخود را می‌چید، (زیرا آن را در آخر هر سال می‌چید، چونکه بر او سنگین می‌شد و از آن سبب آن را می‌چید) موی سر خود را وزن نموده، دویست مثقال به وزن شاه می‌یافت.

And when he shaved off [the hair of] his head [and it was at the end of every year that he shaved it off; because it was too heavy on him, so that he had to shave it off: ] he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels by the king's weight.

۲۷ 27 و برای ابشالوم سه پسر و یک دختر مسمی به تامارزاییده شدند. و او دختری نیکو صورت بود.

And there was born unto Abshalom three sons and one daughter, whose name was Thamar: this one was a woman of handsome appearance.

۲۸ 28 و ابشالوم دو سال تمام در اورشلیم مانده، روی پادشاه را ندید.

And Abshalom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem, and the king's face he did not see.

۲۹ 29 پس ابشالوم، یوآب راطلبید تا او را نزد پادشاه بفرستد. اما نخواست که نزد وی بیاید. و باز بار دیگر فرستاد و نخواست که بیاید.

Abshalom sent out therefore for Joab, to send him to the king; but he would not come to him: and he sent again the second time; but he would not come.

۳۰ 30 پس به خادمان خود گفت: «ببینید، مزرعه یوآب نزد مزرعه من است و در آنجا جودارد. بروید و آن را به آتش بسوزانید.» پس خادمان ابشالوم مزرعه را به آتش سوزانیدند.

He thereupon said unto his servants, See, Joab's field is alongside of mine, and he hath barley there: go and set it on fire. And Abshalom's servants set the field on fire.

۳۱ 31 آنگاه یوآب برخاسته، نزد ابشالوم به خانه‌اش رفته، وی را گفت که «چرا خادمان تو مزرعه مراآتش زده‌اند؟»

Then did Joab arise, and he went to Abshalom unto his house, and said unto him, Wherefore have thy servants set the field belonging to me on fire?

۳۲ 32 ابشالوم به یوآب گفت: «اینک نزد تو فرستاده، گفتم: اینجا بیا تا تو را نزد پادشاه بفرستم تا بگویی برای چه از جشور آمده‌ام؟ مرابهتر می‌بود که تابحال در آنجا مانده باشم، پس حال روی پادشاه را ببینم و اگر گناهی در من باشد، مرا بکشد.»

And Abshalom said to Joab, Behold, I had sent unto thee, saying, Come hither, that I may send thee to the king, to say, Wherefore am I come from Geshur? it would be better for me were I yet there: and now let me see the king's face; and if there be any iniquity in me, let him put me to death.

۳۳ 33 پس یوآب نزد پادشاه رفته، او را مخبر ساخت. و او ابشالوم را طلبید که پیش پادشاه آمد و به حضور پادشاه رو به زمین افتاده، تعظیم کرده و پادشاه، ابشالوم را بوسید.

So Joab went to the king, and told it to him: and he called for Abshalom, who came to the king, and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king; and the king kissed Abshalom.
