اول سموئیل 3

۱ 1 و آن پسر، سموئیل، به حضور عیلی، خداوند را خدمت می‌نمود، و در آن روزهاکلام خداوند نادر بود و رویا مکشوف نمی شد.

And the child Samuel ministered to the Lord before Heli the priest: and the word of the Lord was precious in those days, there was no distinct vision.

۲ 2 و در آن زمان واقع شد که چون عیلی در جایش خوابیده بود و چشمانش آغاز تار شدن نموده، نمی توانست دید،

And it came to pass at that time that Heli was sleeping in his place; and his eyes began to fail, and could not see.

۳ 3 و چراغ خدا هنوز خاموش نشده، و سموئیل در هیکل خداوند، جایی که تابوت خدا بود، می‌خوابید،

And the lamp of God [was burning] before it was trimmed, and Samuel slept in the temple, where [was] the ark of God.

۴ 4 خداوند سموئیل را خواند و او گفت: «لبیک.»

And the Lord called, Samuel, Samuel; and he said, Behold, [here am] I.

۵ 5 پس نزد عیلی شتافته، گفت: «اینک حاضرم زیرا مرا خواندی.» او گفت: «نخواندم، برگشته، بخواب.» و او برگشته، خوابید.

And he ran to Heli, and said, [Here am] I, for you did call me: and he said, I did not call you; return, go to sleep; and he returned and went to sleep.

۶ 6 و خداوند بار دیگر خواند: «ای سموئیل!» وسموئیل برخاسته، نزد عیلی آمده، گفت: «اینک حاضرم زیرا مرا خواندی.» او گفت: «ای پسرم تورا نخواندم، برگشته، بخواب.»

And the Lord called again, Samuel, Samuel: and he went to Heli the second time, and said, Behold [here am] I, for you did call me: and he said, I called you not; return, go to sleep.

۷ 7 و سموئیل، خداوند را هنوز نمی شناخت وکلام خداوند تا حال بر او منکشف نشده بود.

And [it was] before Samuel knew the Lord, and [before] the word of the Lord was revealed to him.

۸ 8 وخداوند باز سموئیل را بار سوم خواند و اوبرخاسته، نزد عیلی آمده، گفت: «اینک حاضرم زیرا مرا خواندی.» آنگاه عیلی فهمید که یهوه، پسر را خوانده است.

And the Lord called Samuel again for the third time: and he arose and went to Heli, and said, Behold, I [am here], for you did call me: and Heli perceived that the Lord [had] called the child.

۹ 9 و عیلی به سموئیل گفت: «برو و بخواب و اگر تو را بخواند، بگو‌ای خداوندبفرما زیرا که بنده تو می‌شنود.» پس سموئیل رفته، در جای خود خوابید.

And he said, Return, child, go to sleep; and it shall come to pass if he shall call you, that you shall say, Speak for your servant hears: and Samuel went and lay down in his place.

۱۰ 10 و خداوند آمده، بایستاد و مثل دفعه های پیش خواند: «ای سموئیل! ای سموئیل!» سموئیل گفت: «بفرما زیرا که بنده تو می‌شنود.»

And the Lord came, and stood, and called him as before: and Samuel said, Speak, for your servant hears.

۱۱ 11 و خداوند به سموئیل گفت: «اینک من کاری در اسرائیل می‌کنم که گوشهای هر‌که بشنود، صدا خواهد داد.

And the Lord said to Samuel, Behold, I execute my words in Israel; whoever hears them, both his ears shall tingle.

۱۲ 12 در آن روز هر‌چه درباره خانه عیلی گفتم بر او اجرا خواهم داشت، و شروع نموده، به انجام خواهم رسانید.

In that day I will raise up against Heli all things that I have said against his house; I will begin, and I will make an end.

۱۳ 13 زیرا به او خبردادم که من بر خانه او تا به ابد داوری خواهم نمودبه‌سبب گناهی که می‌داند، چونکه پسرانش برخود لعنت آوردند و او ایشان را منع ننمود.

And I have told him that I will be avenged on his house perpetually for the iniquities of his sons, because his sons spoke evil against God, and he did not admonish them.

۱۴ 14 بنابراین برای خاندان عیلی قسم خوردم که گناه خاندان عیلی به قربانی و هدیه، تا به ابد کفاره نخواهد شد.»

And [it shall] not [go on] so; I have sworn to the house of Eli, the iniquity of the house of Eli shall not be atoned for with incense or sacrifices for ever.

۱۵ 15 و سموئیل تا صبح خوابید و درهای خانه خداوند را باز کرد، و سموئیل ترسید که عیلی رااز رویا اطلاع دهد.

And Samuel slept till morning, and rose early in the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the Lord; and Samuel feared to tell [Heli] the vision.

۱۶ 16 اما عیلی سموئیل راخوانده، گفت: «ای پسرم سموئیل!» او گفت: «لبیک»

And Heli said to Samuel, Samuel, [my] son; and he said, Behold, [here am] I.

۱۷ 17 گفت: «چه سخنی است که به تو گفته است؟ آن را از من مخفی مدار. خدا با تو چنین بلکه زیاده از این عمل نماید، اگر از هر‌آنچه به توگفته است چیزی از من مخفی داری.»

And he said, What [was] the word that was spoken to you? I pray you hide it not from me: may God do these things to you, and more also, if you hide from me any thing of all the words that were spoken to you in your ears.

۱۸ 18 پس سموئیل همه‌چیز را برای او بیان کرد و چیزی ازآن مخفی نداشت. و او گفت «خداوند است آنچه در نظر او پسند آید بکند.»

And Samuel reported all the words, and hid them not from him. And Heli said, He [is] the Lord, he shall do that which is good in his sight.

۱۹ 19 و سموئیل بزرگ می‌شد و خداوند با وی می‌بود و نمی گذاشت که یکی از سخنانش بر زمین بیفتد.

And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and there did not fall one of his words to the ground.

۲۰ 20 و تمامی اسرائیل از دان تا بئرشبع دانستند که سموئیل برقرار شده است تا نبی خداوند باشد.

And all Israel knew from Dan even to Bersabee, that Samuel [was] faithful as a prophet to the Lord.

۲۱ 21 و خداوند بار دیگر در شیلوه ظاهر شد، زیرا که خداوند در شیلوه خود را برسموئیل به کلام خداوند ظاهر ساخت.

And the Lord manifested himself again in Selom, for the Lord revealed himself to Samuel; and Samuel was accredited to all Israel as a prophet to the Lord from one end of the land to the other: and Heli [was] very old, and his sons kept advancing [in wickedness], and their way [was] evil before the Lord.
