اول تواریخ 19

۱ 1 و بعد از اين واقع شد که ناحاش، پادشاه بني عَمُّون مرد و پسرش در جاي او سلطنت نمود.

And it came to pass after this, [that] Naas the king of the children of Ammon died, and Anan his son reigned in his stead.

۲ 2 و داود گفت: « با حانُون بن ناحاش احسان نمايم چنانکه پدرش به من احسان کرد.» پس داود قاصدان فرستاد تا او را درباره پدرش تعزيت گويند. و خادمان داود به زمين بني عَمُّون نزد حانُون براي تعزيت وي آمدند.

And David said, I will act kindly toward Anan the son of Naas, as his father acted kindly towards me. And David sent messengers to condole with him on the death of his father. So the servants of David came into the land of the children of Ammon to Anan, to comfort him.

۳ 3 و سروران بني عَمُّون به حانُون گفتند: « آيا گمان مي بري که به جهت تکريم پدر تو است که داود تعزيت کنندگان نزد تو فرستاده است؟ ني بلکه بندگانش به جهت تفحص و انقلاب و جاسوسي زمين نزد تو آمدند.»

And the chiefs of the children of Ammon said to Anan, Is it to honour thy father before thee, that David has sent comforters to thee? Have not his servants come to thee that they might search the city, and to spy out the land?

۴ 4 پس حانُون خادمان داود را گرفته، ريش ايشان را تراشيد و لباسهاي ايشان را از ميان تا جاي نشستن دريده، ايشان را رها کرد.

And Anan took the servants of David, and shaved them, and cut off the half of their garments as far as their tunic, and sent them away.

۵ 5 و چون بعضي آمده، داود را از حالت آن کسان خبر دادند، به استقبال ايشان فرستاد زيرا که ايشان بسيار خجل بودند، و پادشاه گفت: « در اَريحا بمانيد تا ريشهاي شما درآيد و بعد از آن برگرديد.»

And there came men to report to David concerning the men: and he sent to meet them, for they were greatly disgraced: and the king said, Dwell in Jericho until your beards have grown, and return.

۶ 6 و چون بني عَمُّون ديدند که نزد داود مکروه شده اند، حانُون و بني عَمُّون هزار وزنه نقره فرستادند تا ارابه ها و سواران از اَرام نَهرَين و اَرام مَعکَه و صُوبَه براي خود اجير سازند.

And the children of Ammon saw that the people of David were ashamed, and Anan and the children of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to hire for themselves chariots and horsemen out of Syria of Mesopotamia, and out of Syria Maacha, and from Sobal.

۷ 7 پس سي و دو هزار ارابه و پادشاه مَعکَه و جمعيت او را براي خود اجير کردند، و ايشان بيرون آمده، در مقابل مِيدَبا اُردو زدند، و بني عَمُّون از شهر هاي خود جمع شده، براي مقاتله آمدند.

And they hired for themselves two and thirty thousand chariots, and the king of Maacha and his people; and they came and encamped before Medaba: and the children of Ammon assembled out of their cities, and came to fight.

۸ 8 و چون داود اين را شنيد، يوآب و تمامي لشکر شجاعان را فرستاد.

And David heard, and sent Joab and all the host of mighty men.

۹ 9 و بني عَمُّون بيرون آمده، نزد دروازه شهر براي جنگ صف آرايي نمودند. و پادشاهاني که آمده بودند، در صحرا عليحده بودند.

And the children of Ammon came forth, and set themselves in array for battle by the gate of the city: and the kings that were come forth encamped by themselves in the plain.

۱۰ 10 و چون يوآب ديد که روي صفوف جنگ، هم از پيش و هم از عقبش بود، از تمامي برگزيدگان اسرائيل گروهي را انتخاب کرده، در مقابل اَرميان صف آرايي نمود.

And Joab saw that they were fronting [him] to fight against him before and behind, and he chose [some] out of all the young men of Israel, and they set themselves in array against the Syrian.

۱۱ 11 و بقيه قوم را به دست برادر خود اَبِشاي سپرده و به مقابل بني عَمُّون صف کشيدند.

And the rest of the people he gave into the hand of his brother Abesai, and they set themselves in array against the children of Ammon.

۱۲ 12 و گفت: « اگر اَرميان بر من غالب آيند، به مدد من بيا؛ و اگر بني عَمُّون بر تو غالب آيند، به جهت امداد تو خواهم آمد.

And he said, If the Syrian should prevail against me, then shalt thou deliver me: and if the children of Ammon should prevail against thee, then will I deliver thee.

۱۳ 13 دلير باش که به جهت قوم خويش و به جهت شهر هاي خداي خود مردانه بکوشيم و خداوند آنچه را در نظرش پسند آيد بکند.»

Be of good courage, and let us be strong, for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the Lord shall do what [is] good in his eyes.

۱۴ 14 پس يوآب و گروهي که همراهش بودند، نزديک شدند تا با اَرميان جنگ کنند و ايشان از حضور وي فرار کردند.

So Joab and the people that were with him set themselves in battle array against the Syrians, and they fled from them.

۱۵ 15 و چون بني عَمُّون ديدند که اَراميان فرار کردند، ايشان نيز از حضور برادرش اَبِشاي گريخته، داخل شهر شدند؛ و يوآب به اورشليم برگشت.

And the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians fled, and they also fled from before Abesai, and from before Joab his brother, and they came to the city: and Joab came to Jerusalem.

۱۶ 16 و چون اَراميان ديدند که از حضور اسرائيل شکست يافتند، ايشان قاصدان فرستاده، اَراميان را که به آن طرف نهر بودند، و شُوفَک سردار لشکر هَدَرعَزَر پيشواي ايشان بود.

And the Syrian saw that Israel had defeated him, and he sent messengers, and they brought out the Syrians from beyond the river; and Sophath the commander-in-chief of the forces of Adraazar [was] before them.

۱۷ 17 و چون خبر به داود رسيد، تمامي اسرائيل را جمع کرده، از اُردُن عبور نمود وبه ايشان رسيده، مقابل ايشان صف آرايي نمود. و چون داود جنگ را با اَراميان آراسته بود، ايشان با وي جنگ کردند.

And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and crossed over Jordan, and came upon them, and set the battle in array against them. So David set [his army] in array to fight against the Syrians, and they fought against him.

۱۸ 18 و اَراميان از حضور اسرائيل فرار کردند و داود مردان هفت هزار ارابه و چهل هزار پياده از اَراميان را کشت، و شُوفَک سردار لشکر را به قتل رسانيد.

And the Syrians fled from before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians seven thousand [riders in] chariots, and forty thousand infantry, and he slew Sophath the commander-in-chief of the forces.

۱۹ 19 و چون بندگان هَدَرعَزَر ديدند که از حضور اسرائيل شکست خوردند، با داود صلح نموده، بنده او شدند، و اَراميان بعد از آن در اعانت بني عَمُّون اقدام ننمودند.

And the servants of Adraazar saw that they were defeated before Israel, and they made peace with David and served him: and the Syrians would not any more help the children of Ammon.
