2 ਸਮੂਏਲ 13
1 ੧ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦੀ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਭੈਣ ਜੋ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਸੀ। ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ।
It happened after this, that Absalom the son of David had a beautiful sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.
2 ੨ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਬੇਚੈਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਭੈਣ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਕੁਆਰੀ ਸੀ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨਾ ਔਖਾ ਜਾਣ ਪਿਆ।
Amnon was so troubled that he fell sick because of his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and it seemed hard to Amnon to do anything to her.
But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David's brother. Now Jonadab was very crafty.
4 ੪ ਸੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਰਾਜਾ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਦਿਨੋਂ-ਦਿਨ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ? ਭਲਾ, ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਦੱਸੇਗਾ? ਤਦ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦੀ ਭੈਣ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
He said to him, "Why, son of the king, are you so sad from day to day? Won't you tell me?" Amnon said to him, "I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister."
5 ੫ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯੋਨਾਦਾਬ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਮੰਜੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਗੀ ਬਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਤੇਰਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਆਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖੀਂ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਭੈਣ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਖੋ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਆਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਰੋਟੀ ਖੁਆਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਪਕਾਵੇ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਖਾਵਾਂ।
Jonadab said to him, "Lie down on your bed, and pretend to be sick. When your father comes to see you, tell him, 'Please let my sister Tamar come and give me bread to eat, and dress the food in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it from her hand.'"
6 ੬ ਤਦ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਲੰਮਾ ਪਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਰਾਜਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੇਰੀ ਭੈਣ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਉਣ ਦਿਓ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਇੱਕ ਦੋ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਤਲੇ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਭੋਜਨ ਕਰਾਂ।
So Amnon lay down and faked being sick. When the king came to see him, Amnon said to the king, "Please let my sister Tamar come, and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat from her hand."
Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, "Go now to your brother Amnon and prepare food for him."
8 ੮ ਸੋ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮੰਜੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਟਾ ਗੁੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਤਲੀਆਂ,
So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house; and he was lying down. And she took dough, and kneaded it, and made cakes while he watched, and baked the cakes.
9 ੯ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਥਾਲੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਖਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਮਨ੍ਹਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਤਦ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣ ਸੋ ਸਭ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ।
She took the pan, and poured them out before him; but he refused to eat. Amnon said, "Have all men leave me." Every man went out from him.
10 ੧੦ ਤਦ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੇ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਕੋਠੜੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਭੋਜਨ ਲੈ ਆ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਖਾਵਾਂ। ਸੋ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਤਲੀਆਂ ਸਨ ਲਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਠੜੀ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਲੈ ਆਈ।
Amnon said to Tamar, "Bring the food into the room, that I may eat from your hand." Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them into the room to Amnon her brother.
11 ੧੧ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਭੋਜਨ ਖਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਲੈ ਆਈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਕੁੜੀਏ, ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਗ ਕਰ!
When she had brought them near to him to eat, he took hold of her, and said to her, "Come, lie with me, my sister."
12 ੧੨ ਉਹ ਬੋਲੀ, ਨਹੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾ, ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਬਰਦਸਤੀ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨਾ ਯੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ! ਤੂੰ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਮੂਰਖਤਾ ਨਾ ਕਰ।
She answered him, "No, my brother, do not force me. For no such thing ought to be done in Israel. Do not do this folly.
13 ੧੩ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਕਲੰਕ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਲਾਹਵਾਂਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੂਰਖ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ! ਤੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਖ। ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਤੋਂ ਨਾਂਹ ਨਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
I, where would I carry my shame? And as for you, you will be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, please speak to the king; for he will not withhold me from you."
However he would not listen to her voice; but being stronger than she was, he overpowered her and raped her.
15 ੧੫ ਫਿਰ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਡਾਢਾ ਵੈਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਵੈਰ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਧ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਉੱਠ, ਚੱਲੀ ਜਾ!
Then Amnon hated her with intense hatred, so that the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her. And Amnon said to her, "Get up, go away."
16 ੧੬ ਤਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੱਢ ਦੇਣ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਉਸ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਧ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਗ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ! ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਾ ਸੁਣੀ।
And Tamar said to him, "Don't, my brother, for this latter evil in sending me away is greater than the former thing that you did to me." But he would not listen to her.
17 ੧੭ ਤਦ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੁਆਨ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ ਸੱਦ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਇਹ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਘਰੋਂ ਹੁਣੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦੇ!
Then he called the young man who served him, and said, "Send this one away from me, and bolt the door after her."
18 ੧੮ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਰੰਗ-ਬਿਰੰਗੀ ਕੁੜਤੀ ਪਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁਆਰੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਬਸਤਰ ਪਹਿਨਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ। ਸੋ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।
Now she was wearing an ornamented robe, for this was what the king's virgin daughters used to wear. Then his servant brought her out, and bolted the door after her.
19 ੧੯ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਪਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਰੰਗ-ਬਿਰੰਗੀ ਕੁੜਤੀ ਜੋ ਪਹਿਨੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ ਪਾੜ ਸੁੱਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਧਰ ਕੇ ਚੀਕਾਂ ਮਾਰਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਤੁਰੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ।
Tamar put ashes on her head, and tore her ornamented robe that she wore. And she put her hand on her head and went away, crying aloud as she went.
20 ੨੦ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੁਝ ਕੀਤਾ? ਪਰ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਭੈਣ, ਹੁਣ ਚੁੱਪ ਰਹਿ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਰਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਲਈ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਨਾ ਕਰ। ਤਦ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਦਾਸ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬੈਠੀ ਰਹੀ।
Absalom her brother said to her, "Has Amnon your brother been with you? But now hold your peace, my sister. He is your brother. Do not take this thing to heart." So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom's house.
But when king David heard of all these things, he was very angry. But he did not inflict pain on the spirit of his son Amnon, because he loved him, for he was his firstborn.
22 ੨੨ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਚੰਗਾ-ਮੰਦਾ ਨਾ ਆਖਿਆ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਭੈਣ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਬਰਦਸਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ
Absalom spoke to Amnon neither good nor bad; for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had violated his sister Tamar.
23 ੨੩ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੋ ਪੂਰੇ ਦੋ ਸਾਲ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਬਆਲ-ਹਸੋਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਉੱਨ ਕਤਰਵਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਥੇ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ।
It happened after two full years, that Absalom had sheepshearers in Baal Hazor, which is beside Ephraim: and Absalom invited all the king's sons.
24 ੨੪ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਰਾਜੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਵੇਖੋ, ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਉੱਨ ਕਤਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਹਨ ਸੋ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲਣ।
Absalom came to the king, and said, "See now, your servant has sheepshearers. Please let the king and his servants go with your servant."
25 ੨੫ ਤਦ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਨਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਵਾਂਗੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਭਾਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਨਾਂਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਸ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
The king said to Absalom, "No, my son, let us not all go, lest we be burdensome to you." But he pleaded with him; however he would not go, but blessed him.
26 ੨੬ ਤਦ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਭੇਜ ਦਿਓ। ਤਾਂ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਉਹ ਕਿਉਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਵੇ?
Then Absalom said, "If not, please let my brother Amnon go with us." The king said to him, "Why should he go with you?"
27 ੨੭ ਤਦ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪਾਇਆ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਜ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
But Absalom pleaded with him, and he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him. And Absalom prepared a feast like a king's feast.
28 ੨੮ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹੋ। ਜਦ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਦਾ ਦਿਲ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਪੀ ਕੇ ਮਤਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਖਾਂ ਕਿ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿਓ! ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟਣਾ। ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਾ ਡਰਿਓ! ਭਲਾ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ? ਸੋ ਤਕੜੇ ਹੋਵੋ, ਹੱਥ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰੋ!
And Absalom commanded his servants, saying, "Mark now, when Amnon's heart is merry with wine; and when I tell you, 'Strike Amnon,' then kill him. Do not be afraid. Haven't I commanded you? Be courageous, and be valiant."
29 ੨੯ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦੇ ਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ। ਤਦ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਜ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਉੱਠੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਖੱਚਰਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਭੱਜ ਗਏ।
The servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man got up on his mule, and fled.
30 ੩੦ ਤਦ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਅਜੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਸਨ ਜੋ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਹੋਈ ਕਿ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਬਚਿਆ!
It happened, while they were in the way, that the news came to David, saying, "Absalom has slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left."
31 ੩੧ ਤਦ ਰਾਜਾ ਉੱਠਿਆ, ਆਪਣੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਾੜ ਸੁੱਟੇ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਲੰਮਾ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਵੀ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਾੜ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
Then the king arose, and tore his garments, and lay on the ground; and all his servants stood by with their clothes torn.
32 ੩੨ ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਸ਼ਿਮਆਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਨਾਦਾਬ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੋਲਿਆ, ਮੇਰਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਇਹ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਨ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਸਗੋਂ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਹੀ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਭੈਣ ਤਾਮਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਬਰਦਸਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਮਿੱਥ ਲਈ ਸੀ।
Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David's brother, answered, "Do not let my lord the king suppose that they have killed all the young men, the king's sons; for Amnon only is dead; for by the appointment of Absalom this has been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.
33 ੩੩ ਸੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਰਾਜਾ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਨਾ ਸਮਝੇ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਹੀ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Now therefore do not let my lord the king take the thing to his heart, to think that all the king's sons are dead; for Amnon only is dead."
34 ੩੪ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੱਠ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਜੁਆਨ ਰਾਖੇ ਨੇ ਜਦ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖੀਆਂ ਉਤਾਹਾਂ ਚੁੱਕੀਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਵੇਖੇ ਜੋ ਵੱਡੀ ਭੀੜ ਪਰਬਤ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਸੀ।
But Absalom fled. And the young man who kept the watch lifted up his eyes and looked, and he saw many men coming on the road behind him from the side of the mountain in the descent. And the watchman came and told the king, and said, "I have seen many men coming from the Horonan road by the side of the mountain."
35 ੩੫ ਤਦ ਯੋਨਾਦਾਬ ਨੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਵੇਖੋ ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰ ਆ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਹੋਇਆ।
Jonadab said to the king, "Look, the king's sons are coming. It is as your servant said."
36 ੩੬ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਗੱਲ ਆਖ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਤਾਂ ਰਾਜਕੁਮਾਰ ਆ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਅਤੇ ਚੀਕਾਂ ਮਾਰ-ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਰੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਭੁੱਬਾਂ ਮਾਰ-ਮਾਰ ਰੋਇਆ।
It happened, as soon as he had finished speaking, that look, the king's sons came, and lifted up their voice, and wept. The king also and all his servants wept bitterly.
37 ੩੭ ਪਰ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੱਠ ਕੇ ਗਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਅਮੀਹੂਦ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਤਲਮਈ ਕੋਲ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਲਈ ਸੋਗ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ।
But Absalom fled, and went to Talmai the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day.
So Absalom fled, and went to Geshur, and was there three years.
39 ੩੯ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਰਾਜਾ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਤਰਸਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਮਨੋਨ ਦੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਆ ਗਈ ਸੀ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਮਰ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਸੀ।
And the spirit of the king longed to go forth to Absalom: for he was comforted concerning Amnon, since he was dead.
