1 Her kjem talet på dei fylkesbuarne som for ut or utlægdi, dei som Babel-kongen Nebukadnessar hadde ført burt til Babel, og som no for heim att til Jerusalem og Juda, kvar til sin by.
And these [are] the people of the land that went up, of the number of prisoners who were removed, whom Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon carried away to Babylon, and they returned to Juda and Jerusalem, every man to his city;

the children of Dalaea, the children of Bua, the children of Tobias, the children of Necoda, six hundred [and] fifty-two.

These sought their genealogy [as though] they had been reckoned, but they were not found; and they were removed, [as polluted], from the priesthood.
63 Jarlen dømde at dei ikkje måtte eta av det høgheilage fyrr det stod fram ein prest som hadde urim og tummim.
And the Athersastha told them that they should not eat of the most holy things, until a priest should arise with Lights and Perfections.
64 Heile lyden til var i alt tvo og fyrti tusund tri hundrad og seksti,
And all the congregation together [were] about forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty;
65 umfram trælarne og trælkvinnorne; talet på deim var sju tusund tri hundrad og sju og tretti. Dertil kom tvo hundrad songarar, karar og kvende.
besides their menservants and maidservants, [and] these were seven thousand three hundred [and] thirty-seven: and [among] these were two hundred singing men and singing women.
66 Dei hadde sju hundrad og seks og tretti hestar, tvo hundrad og fem og fyrti muldyr,
Their horses [were] seven hundred [and] thirty-six, their mules, two hundred [and] forty-five.
67 fire hundrad og fem og tretti kamelar og seks tusund sju hundrad og tjuge asen.
Their camels, four hundred [and] thirty-five; their asses, six thousand seven hundred [and] twenty.
68 Då dei kom fram til Herrens hus i Jerusalem, gav nokre av ættarhovdingarne godviljugt ei gåva til gudshuset, so det kunde verta uppbygt att på den gamle staden.
And [some] of the chiefs of families, when they went into the house of the Lord that was in Jerusalem, offered willingly for the house of God, to establish it on its prepared place.
69 Kvar av deim lagde i byggjekassa, etter som han hadde råd til, og det kom inn tri hundrad tusund dalar i gull og fem og tjuge tusund dalar i sylv, dertil eit hundrad prestekjolar.
According to their power they gave into the treasury of the work pure gold sixty-one thousand pieces, and five thousand pounds of silver, and one hundred priests' garments.
70 Prestarne og levitarne og nokre av lyden, songarane, dørvaktarane og tempelsveinarne, sette då bu i sine byar, og heile Israel elles busette seg kvar i sin by.
So the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nathinim, lived in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
