2 Mosebok 11

1 Då sagde Herren til Moses: «Endå ei ulukke vil eg føra yver Farao og egyptarane, so skal han sleppa dykk av; han skal ikkje berre gjeva dykk lov til å fara, men beint fram driva dykk ut.

Now the Lord had saide vnto Moses, yet will I bring one plague more vpon Pharaoh, and vpon Egypt: after that, he will let you go hence: when he letteth you goe, he shall at once chase you hence.

2 Seg no du med folket at kvar mann skal beda grannen sin, og kvar kona grannekona si, um sylv og gull!»

Speake thou nowe to the people, that euery man require of his neighbour, and euery woman of her neighbour iewels of siluer and iewels of gold.

3 Og Herren gjorde det so at egyptarane fekk godvilje for Israels-folket; og so var og Moses ein ovstor mann i Egyptarlandet, både for kongsmennerne og for hitt folket.

And the Lord gaue the people fauour in the sight of the Egyptians: also Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaohs seruantes, and in the sight of the people.)

4 Og Moses sagde: «So segjer Herren: «Når det lid til midnatt, vil eg fara midt igjenom Egyptarland.

Also Moses sayde, Thus sayth the Lord, About midnight will I goe out into the middes of Egypt.

5 Då skal det døy, alt som frumbore er i Egyptarlandet, frå den frumborne sonen åt Farao, som sit i høgsetet sitt, til den frumborne sonen åt trælkjerringi, som sit og dreg handkverni, og alle frumsungarne i buskapen.

And all the first borne in the lande of Egypt shall die, from the first borne of Pharaoh that sitteth on his throne, vnto the first borne of the maide seruant, that is at the mille, and all the first borne of beastes.

6 Og frå heile Egyptarland skal det stiga eit øgjeleg skrik, so ingen skal hava høyrt slikt illskrik anten fyrr eller sidan.

Then there shalbe a great crie throughout all the land of Egypt, such as was neuer none like, nor shalbe.

7 Men ikkje ein hund skal gøy på nokon i Israel, korkje på folk eller fe. Då skal de verta vare at Herren gjer skil på egyptarane og Israel.»

But against none of ye children of Israel shall a dogge moue his tongue, neyther against man nor beast, that ye may knowe that the Lord putteth a difference betweene the Egyptians and Israel.

8 Og alle desse mennerne dine skal koma til meg, og kasta seg ned for meg og segja: «Far herifrå, både du og heile det folket som fylgjer deg!» Og so skal eg fara.» Og han gjekk burt frå Farao i brennande harm.

And all these thy seruants shall come downe vnto me, and fal before me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that are at thy feete, and after this will I depart. So he went out from Pharaoh very angry.

9 Då Herren sagde til Moses: «Farao skal ikkje høyra på dykk, so eg kann få gjort mange under i Egyptarlandet, »

And the Lord saide vnto Moses, Pharaoh shall not heare you, that my wonders may bee multiplied in the land of Egypt.

10 so gjorde Moses og Aron alle desse underi for augo åt Farao; men Herren hadde lagt so strid ein hug i Farao, og han slepte ikkje Israels-folket or landet sitt.

So Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: but the Lord hardened Pharaohs heart, and he suffred not the children of Israel to goe out of his lande.
