यर्मिया 42
1 तब सेनाका सबै कप्तान र कारेहका छोरा योहानान, होशयाहका छोरा येजन्याह अनि सानादेखि ठुलासम्म सबै मानिसले यर्मिया अगमवक्ताकहाँ आए ।
Then all the army commanders and Johanan son of Kareah, Jezaniah son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least to the greatest approached Jeremiah the prophet.
2 तिनीहरूले तिनलाई भने, “हाम्रो बिन्ती सुन्नुहोस् । परमप्रभु तपाईंका परमेश्वरलाई यी बाँकी रहेका मानिसहरूको पक्षमा बिन्ती चढाउनुहोस्, किनकि तपाईं देख्नुहुन्छ, हामी सङ्ख्यामा एकदम थोरै छौं ।
They said to him, “Let our pleas come before you. Pray for us to Yahweh your God for these people who remain since we are so few in number, as you see.
3 हामीले जानुपर्ने बाटो हामीलाई देखाउन र हामीले के गर्नुपर्छ भनेर परमप्रभु तपाईंका परमेश्वरलाई सोध्नुहोस् ।”
Ask Yahweh your God to tell us the way we should go and what we should do.”
4 त्यसैले यर्मिया अगमवक्ताले तिनीहरूलाई भने, “मैले तिमीहरूको कुरा सुनेको छु । हेर, तिमीहरूले अनुरोध गरेझैं म परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरलाई प्रार्थना चढाउनेछु । परमप्रभुले जे जवाफ दिनुहुन्छ, म तिमीहरूलाई बताउनेछु । म तिमीहरूबाट कुनै कुरो लुकाउनेछैनँ ।”
So Jeremiah the prophet said to them, “I have heard you. Look, I will pray to Yahweh your God as you have requested. Whatever Yahweh answers, I will tell you. I will keep nothing back from you.”
5 तिनीहरूले यर्मियालाई भने, “परमप्रभु तपाईंका परमेश्वरले हामीलाई भन्नुभएअनुसार हामीले गरेनौं भने, परमप्रभु नै हाम्रा विरुद्धमा साँचो र विश्वासयोग्य साक्षी होऊन् ।
They said to Jeremiah, “May Yahweh be a true and faithful witness against us, if we do not do everything that Yahweh your God tells us to do.
6 असल होस् या खराब होस्, हामी परमप्रभु हाम्रा परमेश्वरको कुरा मान्नेछौं, जसकहाँ हामी तपाईंलाई पठाउँदैछौं, जसको कारण हामीले परमप्रभु हाम्रा परमेश्वरको कुरा मान्दा हाम्रो भलो होस् ।”
Whether it is good or if it is bad, we will obey the voice of Yahweh our God, to whom we are sending you, so that it may be well with us when we obey the voice of Yahweh our God.”
7 दस दिनको अन्त्यमा परमप्रभुको वचन यर्मियाकहाँ आयो ।
At the end of ten days, the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah.
8 त्यसैले यर्मियाले कारेहका छोरा योहानान र तिनीसित भएका सेनाका सबै कप्तान र सानादेखि ठुलासम्म सबै मानिसलाई बोलाए ।
So Jeremiah called to Johanan son of Kareah and all the army commanders with him, and to all the people from the least to the greatest.
9 तब तिनले उनीहरूलाई भने, “परमप्रभु इस्राएलका परमेश्वर यसो भन्नुहुन्छ, जसकहाँ तिमीहरूले मलाई तिमीहरूका बिन्ती राख्न पठायौ,
Then he said to them, “This is what Yahweh, the God of Israel—to whom you sent me so I might lay your pleas before him—says,
10 'तिमीहरू फर्केर जान्छौ र यस देशमा बस्छौ भने, म तिमीहरूलाई निर्माण गर्नेछु, भत्काउनेछैनँ । म तिमीहरूलाई रोप्नेछु, उखेल्नेछैनँ, किनकि मैले तिमीहरूमाथि ल्याएको विपत्ति म हटाउनेछु ।
'If you go back and live in this land, then I will build you and not tear you down; I will plant you and not pull you up, for I will turn back the disaster that I have brought on you.
11 बेबिलोनका राजा जसदेखि तिमीहरू डराउँदैछौ, अब त्यसदेखि नडराओ । उदेखि नडराओ, यो परमप्रभुको घोषणा हो, किनकि उसको हातबाट तिमीहरूको उद्धार गर्न र तिमीहरूलाई छुटकारा दिन म तिमीहरूसँगै छु ।
Do not fear the king of Babylon, whom you are fearing. Do not fear him—this is Yahweh's declaration—since I am with you to save you and rescue you from his hand.
12 किनकि म तिमीहरूलाई कृपा देखाउनेछु । म तिमीहरूमाथि दया देखाउनेछु, र म तिमीहरूलाई फर्काएर तिमीहरूकै देशमा ल्याउनेछु ।
For I will give you mercy. I will have compassion on you, and I will bring you back to your land.
13 तर तिमीहरूले यसो भन्छौ, 'हामी यस देशमा बस्नेछैनौं'—अनि तिमीहरूले मेरो आवाज, परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरको आवाज सुन्दैनौ ।
But suppose that you say, “We will not stay in this land”—if you do not listen to my voice, the voice of Yahweh your God.
14 तिमीहरूले यसो भन्छौ, 'हामी मिश्रदेशमा जानेछौं, जहाँ हामीले फेरि युद्ध देख्नेछैनौं, जहाँ हामीले तुरहीको आवाज सुन्नेछैनौं, र हामी खानाको लागि भोकाउनेछैनौं । हामी त्यहाँ बस्नेछौं' ।”
Suppose that you say, “No! We will go to the land of Egypt, where we will not see any war, where we will not hear the sound of the trumpet, and we will not go hungry for food. We will live there.”
15 ए यहूदामा बाँकी रहेका मानिसहरू हो, परमप्रभुको यो वचन सुन । सर्वशक्तिमान् परमप्रभु इस्राएलका परमेश्वर यसो भन्नुहुन्छ, 'तिमीहरूले मिश्रदेशमा नै जाने, त्यहाँ जाने र बस्ने पक्का गरिसकेका छौ भने,
Now listen to this word of Yahweh, you remnant of Judah. Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, says this, 'If you actually set out to go to Egypt, to go and live there,
16 तब जुन तरवारदेखि तिमीहरू डराउँछौ, त्यसले खेदेर तिमीहरूलाई मिश्रदेशमा भेट्टाउनेछ । तिमीहरू जुन अनिकालको विषयमा चिन्तित छौ, त्यसले नै तिमीहरूलाई मिश्रसम्म खेद्नेछ, र तिमीहरू त्यहीँ मर्नेछौ ।
then the sword that you fear will overtake you there in the land of Egypt. The famine that you are worrying about will pursue you to Egypt, and you will die there.
17 त्यसैले मिश्रमा गएर त्यहीँ बस्ने निधो गरेका सबै पुरुष तरवार, अनिकाल र विपत्तिले मर्नेछन् । तिनीहरूका बिचमा कोही पनि बाँच्नेछैन, मैले तिनीहरूमाथि ल्याउने विपत्तिबाट कोही पनि उम्कनेछैन ।
So it will happen that all the men who set out to go to Egypt to live there will die by sword, famine, or plague. There will be no survivor of them, no one to escape the disaster that I will bring on them.
18 किनकि सर्वशक्तिमान् परमप्रभु इस्राएलका परमेश्वर यसो भन्नुहुन्छः जसरी मेरो रिस र क्रोध यरूशलेमका बासिन्दाहरूमाथि खन्याइएको थियो, तिमीहरू मिश्रमा गयौ भने त्यसरी नै मेरो क्रोध खन्याइनेछ । तिमीहरू सराप र त्रासको पात्र, सराप खाने पात्र र अपमानको कुरा बन्नेछौ, र फेरि तिमीहरूले यो देश देख्नेछैनौ ।”
For Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, says this: Just as my wrath and my fury were poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, in the same way my fury will be poured out on you if you go to Egypt. You will become an object of cursing and a horror, an object for speaking curses, and something dishonorable, and you will not see this place again.'”
19 तब यर्मियाले भने, “ए यहूदाका बाँकी रहेका मानिसहरू हो, तिमीहरूको विषयमा परमप्रभुले बोल्नुभएको छ । तिमीहरू मिश्रमा नजाओ । आज मैले तिमीहरूको विरुद्धमा गवाही दिएको छु भनी तिमीहरूलाई पक्का थाहा छ ।
Then Jeremiah said, “Yahweh has spoken concerning you—the remnant of Judah. Do not go to Egypt! You certainly know that I have been a witness against you today.
20 तिमीहरूले मलाई परमप्रभु आफ्ना परमेश्वरकहाँ यसो भनेर पठाउँदा तिमीहरूले आफैलाई घातक रूपमा धोका दियौ, 'हाम्रा निम्ति परमप्रभु हाम्रा परमेश्वरमा प्रार्थना गर्नुहोस् । परमप्रभु हाम्रा परमेश्वरले बताउनुहुने हरेक कुरा हामीलाई बताउनुहोस्, र हामी त्यो पूरा गर्नेछौं ।'
For you fatally deceived yourselves when you sent me to Yahweh your God and said, 'Pray to Yahweh our God for us. Everything that Yahweh our God says, tell us, and we will carry it out.'
21 किनकि मैले आज तिमीहरूलाई त्यो बताएको छु, तर तिमीहरूले परमप्रभु आफ्ना परमेश्वरको कुरा सुनेका छैनौ वा जे कुरा भन्नू भनी उहाँले मलाई तिमीहरूकहाँ पठाउनुभयो, त्यो तिमीहरूले मानेका छैनौ ।
For I have reported to you today, but you have not listened to the voice of Yahweh your God or to anything about which he sent me to you.
22 त्यसैले अब तिमीहरूले जुन ठाउँमा गएर बस्ने इच्छा गरेका छौ, त्यहाँ तिमीहरू तरवार, अनिकाल र विपत्तिले मर्नेछौ भन्ने कुरा तिमीहरूले पक्का रूपले जानिराख ।”
So now, you should certainly know that you will die by sword, famine, and plague in the place where you desired to go to live.”
