१ शमूएल 16

1 परमप्रभुले शमूएललाई भन्‍नुभयो, “मैले शाऊललाई इस्राएलको राजा हुनबाट इन्कार गरेको कारणले तँ उसको निम्ति कहिलेसम्म विलाप गर्नेछस्? तेरो सीङ्‌मा तेल भर् र जा । म तँलाई बेथलेहेमको यिशैकहाँ पठाउनेछु, किनकि मैले त्यसका छोराहरूका बिचबाट एक जनालाई मेरो निम्ति राजा चुनेको छु ।”

And YHWH said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.

2 शमूएलले सोधे, “म कसरी जान सक्‍छु? शाऊलले यो सुने भने, उसले मलाई मार्नेछ ।” परमप्रभुले भन्‍नुभयो, “तँसँगै एउटा कोरली लैजा र भन्, 'म परमप्रभुलाई बलिदान चढाउन आएको छु ।'

And Samuel said, How can I go? if Saul hear it, he Will kill me. And YHWH said, Take an heifer with thee, and say, I am come to sacrifice to YHWH.

3 यिशैलाई पनि बलिदानमा बोला र तैंले के गर्नुपर्नेछ म तँलाई देखाउनेछु । मैले तँलाई देखाएको एक जनालाई तैंले अभिषेक गर्नेछस् ।”

And call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will shew thee what thou shalt do: and thou shalt anoint unto me him whom I name unto thee.

4 शमूएलले परमप्रभुले भन्‍नुभएझैं गरे र बेथलेहेम गए । सहरका धर्म-गुरुहरू तिनलाई भेट्न आउँदा तिनीहरू डरले कामिरहेका थिए र भने, “के तपाईं शान्तिमा नै आउँदै हुनुहुन्छ?”

And Samuel did that which YHWH spake, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably?

5 तिनले भने, “शान्तिमा नै हो । म परमप्रभुलाई बिलदान चढाउन आएको छु । आफैलाई अलग गर्न तयार होओ र मसँगै बलिदानमा आओ ।” तिनले यिशै र तिनका छोराहरूलाई अलग गरे र तिनीहरूलाई बलिदानमा निमन्त्रणा गरे ।

And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto YHWH: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.

6 जब तिनीहरू आए, तिनले एलीआबलाई हेरे र मनमनै भने परमप्रभुको अभिषिक्‍त जन निश्‍चय नै तिनको सामु उभिरहेका थिए ।

And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely YHWH 's anointed is before him.

7 तर परमप्रभुले शमूएललाई भन्‍नुभयो, “त्यसको बाह्य स्वरूप वा त्यसको कदको उचाइलाई नहेर्, किनभने मैले त्यसलाई इन्कार गरेको छु । किनभने परमप्रभुले मानिसले झैं हे्र्नुहुन्‍न । मानिसले बाहिरी स्वरूपलाई हेर्छ, तर परमप्रभुले हृदयलाई हेर्नुहुन्छ ।”

But YHWH said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for YHWH seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but YHWH looketh on the heart.

8 यिशैले अबीनादाबलाई बोलाए र शमूएलको सामुन्‍ने हिंड्न लगाए । तब शमूएलले भने, “परमप्रभुले यसलाई पनि चुन्‍नुभएको छैन ।”

Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, Neither hath YHWH chosen this.

9 यिशैले शम्मालाई नि हिंड्न लगाए, तर शमूएलले भने, “परमप्रभुले यसलाई पनि चुन्‍नुभएको छैन ।”

Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. And he said, Neither hath YHWH chosen this.

10 यिशैले तिनका सातै जना छोराहरूलाई शमूएलको सामु हिंड्न लगाए । शमूएलले यिशैलाई भने, “परमप्रभुले यिनीहरू कुनैलाई पनि चुन्‍नुभएको छैन ।”

Again, Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, YHWH hath not chosen these.

11 तब शमूएलले यिशैलाई भने, “के तपाईंका छोराहरू सबै जना यहाँ नै छन्?” तिनले जवाफ दिए, “अझै कान्छो बाँकी नै छ, तर उसले भेडाको गोठाला गरिरहेको छ ।” शमूएलले यिशैलाई भने, “कसैलाई पठाउनुहोस् र तिनलाई झिकाउनुहोस् । तिनी यहाँ नआएसम्म, हामी बस्‍नेछैनौं ।”

And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.

12 यिशैले कसैलाई पठाए र तिनलाई ल्याए । यो छोराको राता गाला, सुन्दर आँखा र सुन्दर स्वरूप थियो । परमप्रभुले भन्‍नुभयो, “उठ्, त्यसलाई अभिषेक गर् । किनभने यही नै हो ।”

And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And YHWH said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.

13 अनि शमूएलले तेल भएको सीङ् लिए र तिनलाई आफ्‍ना दाजुहरूका माझमा अभिषेक गरे । त्यस दिनदेखि परमप्रभुको आत्मा दाऊदमाथि आउनुभयो । त्यसपछि शमूएल उठे र रामातिर गए ।

Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of YHWH came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

14 परमप्रभुको आत्माले शाऊललाई छोड्नुभयो र परमप्रभुको हानिकारक आत्माले तिनलाई दुःख दियो ।

But the Spirit of YHWH departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from YHWH troubled him.

15 शाऊलका सेवकहरूले तिनलाई भने, “हे्र्नुहोस्, परमप्रभुको हानिकारक आत्माले तपाईंलाई दुःख दिन्छ ।

And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from Elohim troubleth thee.

16 तपाईंको सामु भएका सेवकहरूलाई कोही वीणा बजाउन निपुण व्यक्‍तिलाई खोज्‍न हाम्रो मालिकले आज्ञा गर्नुहोस् । जब परमप्रभुको हानिकारक आत्मा तपाईंमाथि आउँछ, त्यसले वीणा बजाउनेछ, र तपाईं ठीक हुनुहुनेछ ।”

Let ourmaster now command thy servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from Elohim is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well.

17 शाऊलले तिनका सेवकहरूलाई भने, “बजाउन निपुण एक जना मानिस मेरो निम्ति खोज र त्यसलाई मकहाँ ल्याऊ ।”

And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me.

18 जवानहरूमध्ये एक जनाले जवाफ दिए, “मैले बेथलेहमका यिशैका छोरा बजाउनमा निपुण, बलियो, साहसी, लडाकु, बोलीवचनमा चतुर, सुन्‍दर मानिस देखेको छु । अनि परमप्रभु तिनीसँग हुनुहुन्छ ।”

Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and YHWH is with him.

19 त्यसैले शाऊलले यिशैकहाँ दूतहरू पठाए र भने, “भेडाहरूसँग भएको तिम्रो छोरा दाऊदलाई मकहाँ पठाऊ ।”

Wherefore Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, and said, Send me David thy son, which is with the sheep.

20 यिशैले रोटी, दाखमद्यको भाँडो, एउटा पाठोलाई गधामा बोकाए र आफ्‍नो छोरा दाऊदसँगै ती शाऊलकहाँ पठाए ।

And Jesse took an ass laden with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son unto Saul.

21 तब दाऊद शाऊलकहाँ आए र तिनको सेवामा प्रवेश गरे । शाऊलले तिनलाई धेरै प्रेम गरे र तिनी उनको हतियार बोक्‍ने बने ।

And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer.

22 “दाऊद मेरो सामु खडा रहोस्, किनभने उसले मेरो दृष्‍टिमा निगाह पाएको छ” भन्‍ने सामाचार शाऊलले यिशैलाई पठाए ।

And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray thee, stand before me; for he hath found favour in my sight.

23 जब-जब शाऊलमाथि परमेश्‍वरको हानिकारक आत्मा आउँथ्यो, दाऊदले वीणा लिन्थे र त्‍यो बजाउँथे । यसरी शाऊल पुनः ताजा र सञ्‍चो हुन्थे, र हानिकारक आत्माले तिनीलाई छोड्‍थ्‍यो।

And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from Elohim was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.
