< Luka 23 >

1 Bhai likundi lyowe, gubhajimingene, nikwaapeleka a Yeshu kwa a Pilato.
The whole council rose and took him to Pilate.
2 Gubhatandubhenje kwaashitakiya bhalinkutinji, “Bhene bhandubha bhatendaga kwaapuganyanga bhandunji bhetu, bhalikwalimbiyanga kulipa koli kwa a Kaishali na bhalikwiishema a Kilishitu na a mpalume.”
There they started to accuse him. “We found this man deceiving our nation, telling people not to pay taxes to Caesar, and claiming he is Messiah, a king,” they said.
3 A Pilato gubhaabhushiye a Yeshu, “Mmwe a mpalume bha Bhayaudi?” A Yeshu gubhaajangwile “Mmwe ni nkubheleketa.”
“Are you the King of the Jews?” Pilate asked him. “So you say,” replied Jesus.
4 A Pilato gubhaabhalanjilenje ashikalongolele bha bhaabhishila na lugwinjili lwa bhandu, “Ngakushibhona shibhalebhile abha bhandubha.”
Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, “I don't find this man guilty of any crime.”
5 Ikabheje na bhalabhonji gubhapundilenje kukwiya bhalinkutinji, “Bhanakwiya nnjasha kwa majiganyo gabho nshilambo showe sha ku Yudea, kundubhila ku Galilaya, mpaka apano.”
But they insisted, saying, “He is inciting rebellion all over Judea with his teachings, from Galilee to right here in Jerusalem.”
6 A Pilato bhakapilikaneje genego gubhabhushiye, “Bhuli, abha bhandubha bha ku Galilaya?”
When he heard this, Pilate asked, “Is this man a Galilean?”
7 Bhakamumanyeje kuti a Yeshu bhaliji mu Ukulungwa gwa a Elode, gubhaapeleshe kwa a Elode, pabha gene mobhago pubhaliji pa Yelushalemu pepala.
When he discovered that Jesus came under Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod who was also in Jerusalem at the time.
8 A Elode guyaanonyele bhakaabhoneje a Yeshu. Pabha bhapilikene ngani jabho, kwa nneyo kwa mobha gamagwinji bhatendaga loleya kwaabhona. Na kabhili bhatendaga pinga bhaabhone bhalitenda ilangulo.
Herod was very pleased to see Jesus since he had wanted to meet him for a long time. He had heard about Jesus and was hoping to see him perform a miracle.
9 Bhai, a Elode gubhakabhile nkwabhuya, ikabheje a Yeshu bhangaajangula shoshowe.
He asked Jesus many questions, but Jesus did not answer him at all.
10 Ashikalongolele bha bhaabhishila na bhaajandika bha shalia, gubhajimingene nkukong'ondela mashitaka gabhonji kwa kakati.
The chief priests and religious teachers stood there, angrily accusing him.
11 Bhai, a Elode na ashimanjola bhabho, gubhaalembulenje a Yeshu nikwatendela mbenji, kungai gubhaawashiyenje lijoo lya Upalume, gubhabhujilenabhonji kwa a Pilato.
Herod and his soldiers treated Jesus with contempt and mocked him. Then they placed a royal robe on him and sent him back to Pilate.
12 A Elode na a Pilato bhukala pubhalinginji bhamagongo, kutandubhila lyene lyubhalyo gubhalinginji bhambwiga.
From that day on Herod and Pilate were friends—before that they had been enemies.
13 Bhai, a Pilato gubhashemile shitamo sha ashikalongolele bha bhaabhishila na ashikalongolele bhana bha bhandunji,
Pilate called together the chief priests, rulers, and the people,
14 gubhaabhalanjilenje, “Nshimbeleshelanga abha bhandubha kuti, bhanaapuganya bhandu. Ngakagulileje lyene lilobheli pameyo genunji, nangashibhona shibhalebhile shilingana na mashitaka genunji.
and told them, “You brought this man before me, accusing him of inciting the people to rebellion. I've carefully examined him in your presence, and do not find him guilty of the charges you have brought against him.
15 Numbe nngabha nne jikape, ikabhe nkali a Elode bhangashibhona shoshowe shibhalebhile, nigubhamujishiye. Pabha abha bhandubha shakwapi shibhatendile shapinjikwa bhaukumulwe kubhulagwa.
Neither did Herod, for he sent him back to us. He has done nothing that demands he should be put to death.
16 Kwa nneyo shinajile bhakomwe ibhoko, kungai shinaaleshelele.”
So I will have him flogged and then release him.”
17 Pabha bhashinkupinjikwa kwaagopolelanga nkutabhwa jumo lyubha lya shikukuu.
18 Ikabheje bhowe gwaajobhelenje gwanakamo, “Mwaabhulaje abho, ntugopolele a Bhalabha!”
But they all shouted together, “Kill this man, and release Barabbas to us.”
19 A Bhalabha bhashinkutabhwa kwa ligongo lya nnjasha yatendeshe pa shilambo na ligongo lya bhulaga bhandu.
(Barabbas had been put in prison for taking part in a rebellion in the city, and for murder.)
20 A Pilato bhapinjile kwaaleshelela a Yeshu, bhai gubhakungulwishe kabhili na bhandunji,
Pilate wanted to release Jesus, so spoke to them again.
21 ikabheje bhalabhonji gubhapundilenje jobhela, “Mwaakomele munshalabha, mwaakomele munshalabha!”
But they kept on shouting, “Crucify him! Crucify him!”
22 A Pilato gubhaabhalanjilenje gwatatu, “Bhalebhile nndi? Ngakushibhona shoshowe shibhalebhile shapinjikwa bhabhulagwe, kwa nneyo shindume bhakomwe ibhoko, naaleshelele.”
Pilate asked them for the third time, “But why? What crime has he committed? I don't find any reason for executing him. So I will have him flogged and then release him.”
23 Ikabheje bhalabhonji gubhapundilenje kujobhela, kuti a Yeshu bhanapinjikwa bhakomelwe munshalabha. Kungai, malobhe gabhonji gugapilikanishe.
But they continued insisting with loud shouts, demanding that he be crucified. Their shouting succeeded,
24 Bhai a Pilato gubhaukumwile kuti, itendeshe malinga shibhapinjilenje.
and Pilate gave the sentence they demanded.
25 Gubhaaleshelele a Bhalabha bhatabhilwe kwa ligongo lya nnjasha na bhulaga bhandu. Gubhaakamwiye a Yeshu kwa ashimanjola, bhaatendelanje malinga shibhapingangaga.
He released the man imprisoned for rebellion and murder, but he sent Jesus to be put to death in accordance with their demands.
26 Bhalinginji nkwaapeleka, gubhaimikenenje naka mundu jumo ashemwaga Shimoni jwa ku Kilene, alikopoka kunngunda. Bhai, gubhankamwilenje, gubhantwishilenje nshalabha gula aujigale nnyuma ja a Yeshu.
As the soldiers led him away, they seized a man called Simon of Cyrene, who had come in from the countryside. They put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.
27 Bhandunji, makundi kwa makundi gubhaakagulenje, munkumbimo bhapalinji bhanabhakongwe bhaagutilangaga ililo.
A large crowd followed him, along with women who were mourning and lamenting him.
28 A Yeshu gubhaatendebhushilenje, gubhashite, “Mmanganya ashinabhiti bha pa Yelushalemu! Nnang'utilanje nne, ikabhe mwiigutilanje mwaashayene na ashibhana bhenu.
Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, don't weep for me. Weep for yourselves and your children.
29 Pabha, shigaishe mobha pushimmeleketanje, mbaya ashinannii na bhakanabhe kolanga wala kujonjeya!
For the time is coming when they'll say, ‘Happy are those who are childless, and those who never had babies, and those who never nursed them.’
30 Penepo, bhandunji shibhailugululanje itumbi, ‘Ntugwilanje!’ Na ijomboya, ‘Ntuunishilanje’!
They'll say to the mountains, ‘Fall down on us,’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’
31 Ibhaga bhandunji bhakuutendelanga nnei nkongo gwa mmii, shiibhe bhuli kwa nkongo gwa nnjumu?”
For if they do this to wood that is green, what will happen when it's dried out?”
32 Bhandunji bhana bhabhili bhaalebhanga, bhashinkupelekwanga bhabhulagwanje pamo na a Yeshu.
They also took two others who were criminals to be executed with him.
33 Bhakaikanganeje pashemwaga, Shibhanga sha Ntwe, penepo gubhaakomelenje munshalabha a Yeshu na bhandunji bhabhili bhaalebhanga bhala, jumo kunkono nnilo, na juna kunkono nshinda.
When they reached the place called the Skull they crucified him together with the criminals, one on his right, and the other on his left.
34 A Yeshu gubhashite, “Atati mwaaleshelelanje, pabha bhakakwimanyanga ibhatendanga.” Gubhagebhenenje nngubho yabho kwa tendela shikoma.
Jesus said, “Father, please forgive them, for they don't know what they're doing.” They divided up his clothes by throwing dice for them.
35 Bhandunji gubhajimingene bhalilosheyanga. Na bhalabhonji ashikalongolele bha Shiyaudi gubhaatendelenje mbenji bhalinkutinji, “Bhashikwatapulanga bhananji, nnaino bhaitapule bhayene, monaga bhenebha bhali a Kilishitu bha a Nnungu!”
The people stood and watched and the leaders sneered at Jesus. “He saved others, let him save himself, if he is really God's Messiah, the Chosen One,” they said.
36 Ashimanjola nneyo peyo gubhaatendelenje mbenji a Yeshu, gubhaajendelenje nikwaapa divai ja shashama bhapapile,
The soldiers also mocked him, coming up to him and offering him wine vinegar, saying,
37 bhalinkutinji, “Monaga mmwe nni A mpalume bha Bhayaudi, mwiitapule mmayene.”
“If you're the King of the Jews, then save yourself.”
38 Na pantundu nshalabha gwabho pashinkujandikwa mmbila “BHENEBHA A MPALUME BHA BHAYAUDI.”
Above Jesus was a sign on which it was written, “This is the King of the Jews.”
39 Na nkulebha jumo akomelwe munshalabha jula, gwabhatukene alinkuti, “Bhuli, igala mmwe nngati a Kilishitu? Bhai mwiitapule mmayene, ntutapule na uwe.”
One of the criminals hanging there joined in the insults against Jesus. “Aren't you the Messiah?” he asked. “Then save yourself—and us too!”
40 Ikabheje nkulebha juna jula gwankalipile mwine alinkuti, “Ugwe ukakwaajogopa a Nnungu? Numbe uli na ukumu jojo.
But the other criminal disagreed and argued with him, “Don't you fear God even when you're suffering the same punishment?” he asked.
41 Uwe tushiukumulwa kwa aki, kwa itendi yetu. Ikabheje abha bhandubha shakwapi shoshowe shibhalebhile.”
“For us the sentence is right since we're being punished for what we did, but this man didn't do anything wrong.”
42 Kungai nigwashite, “Mmwe a Yeshu! Nngumbushile pushinnjinjile mu Upalume gwenupo.”
Then he said, “Jesus, please remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
43 A Yeshu gubhannjangwile, “Kweli ngunakuubhalanjila, lelope shuubhe na nne kupaladisho.”
Jesus replied, “I promise you today you will be with me in paradise.”
44 Puyaaliji malanga ga shaa shita ja mui, lubhindu lukutabhaga shilambo showe mpaka shaa tisha,
By this time it was around noon and darkness fell over the whole land until three in the afternoon.
45 na lukulungushi lwa Nniekalu lukupapukaga ipande ibhili.
The sun's light was shut out, and the Temple veil was torn in two.
46 A Yeshu gubhagutile kwa utiya, “Atati, mmakono genu ngunabhika mbumu yangu.” Bhakamaliyeje kubheleketa genego gubhamalile.
Jesus called out in a loud voice, “Father, I place myself in your hands.” Having said this he breathed his last.
47 Penepo, bhakulungwa bha ashimanjola bhala bhakagabhoneje gatendeshe gala, gubhaaniye a Nnungu bhalinkuti, “Kweli abha bhandubha pubhaliji bha aki.”
When the centurion saw what had happened he praised God and said, “Surely this man was innocent.”
48 Bhandu bhowe bhaikengene pepala kulolesheya genego, bhakagabhonanjeje gene gatendeshe gala, gubhabhujilengene kunngwabhonji, bhalikwikomanga pantima nkuinjika.
When all the crowds that had come to watch saw what happened they went home beating their chests in grief.
49 Ashambwiga ajabho a Yeshu, na bhanabhakongwe bhakagulangaga kukopoka ku Galilaya, gubhajimingene kwa talika bhalilolesheyanga genego.
But all those who knew Jesus, including the women who'd followed him from Galilee, watched from a distance.
50 Bhai bhashinkupagwa bhandu bhamo lina lyabho a Yoshepu, bhaliji bhanguja na bha aki. Pubhaliji bha lukumbi lukulu lwa Bhayaudi,
There was a man called Joseph who was good and honest. He was a member of the council,
but he hadn't agreed with its decisions and actions. He came from the Jewish town of Arimathea, and was waiting expectantly for the kingdom of God.
52 A Yoshepu gubhaajendele a Pilato, gubhajujile bhapegwe shiilu sha a Yeshu.
Joseph went to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body.
53 Kungai gubhatulwiye shiilu munshalabha, gubhailijilile shanda ja kitani ja mmbone, gubhabhishile nnikabhuli lyaolilwe nnindandawe likulungwa, lyaliji likanabhe shikwa mundu.
Once he'd taken it down, he wrapped it in a linen cloth. He laid Jesus in an unused tomb cut into the rock.
54 Pulyaaliji lyubha lya kolokoya indu ya Lyubha lya Pumulila, na pulyaaliji tome na tandubha.
It was preparation day and the Sabbath would soon begin.
55 Bhanabhakongwe bhajilengene pamo na a Yeshu kukopoka ku Galilaya, gubhaakagwilenje a Yoshepu, gubhaliweninji likabhuli na shibhashite kwaashika a Yeshu.
The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee had followed Joseph and had seen the tomb where Jesus' body had been laid.
56 Kungai, gubhabhujengene kumui, gubhajenjilenje mauta ga nunjila ga kwenda pakaya shiilu sha a Yeshu. Lyubha lya Pumulila, gubhapumulilenje malinga shiyalajilwe na shalia.
They returned home and prepared spices and ointments. But on the Sabbath they rested, observing the commandment.
