1 १ आसाच्या राज्याच्या छत्तिसाव्या वर्षी इस्राएलाचा राजा बाशाने यहूदावर स्वारी केली. बाशा हा इस्राएलचा राजा रामा हे नगर निवडून त्याने त्याची मजबुती केली. यहूदाचा राजा आसा याच्याकडे कोणालाही येण्याजाण्याला प्रतिबंध व्हावा हा त्याचा त्यामागचा हेतू होता.

In the sixe and thirtieth yeere of the reigne of Asa came Baasha king of Israel vp against Iudah, and built Ramah to let none passe out or goe in to Asa king of Iudah.

2 २ तेव्हा आसाने परमेश्वराच्या मंदिराच्या भांडारातून व राजमहालातून सोने आणि चांदी काढून घेतली. अरामाचा राजा बेन-हदाद दिमिष्काला राहत होता. आसाने त्याच्याकडे सोने, आणि चांदी पाठवून त्यास निरोप पाठवला,

Then Asa brought out siluer and gold out of the treasures of the house of the Lord, and of the Kings house, and sent to Benhadad King of Aram that dwelt at Damascus, saying,

3 ३ “आपण आपसात एक करार करू आपल्या दोघांच्या पित्यामध्येही तसा करार केलेला होता मी माझ्याकडचे सोने व रुपे तुझ्याकडे पाठवत आहे. इस्राएलचा राजा बाशा याच्याबरोबरचा तुझा करार मोड म्हणजे तो माझ्याकडे पाठ फिरवेल आणि मला त्रस्त करणार नाही.”

There is a couenant betweene me and thee, and betweene my father and thy father: behold, I haue sent thee siluer and golde: come, breake thy league with Baasha King of Israel that hee may depart from me.

4 ४ बेन-हदाद आसाच्या गोष्टीशी सहमत झाला. त्याने इस्राएली नगरांवर आपले सैन्याचे सरदार पाठवले. त्या सरदारांनी ईयोन, दान आबेल-मईम या नगरांवर हल्ला केला कोठारे असलेल्या नफतालीच्या नगरांवरही त्यांनी चढाई केली.

And Benhadad hearkened vnto King Asa, and sent the captaines of the armies which hee had, against the cities of Israel. And they smote Iion, and Dan, and Abel-maim, and all the store cities of Naphtali.

5 ५ या चढायांचे वृत्त बाशाच्या कानावर गेले. तेव्हा त्याने रामा शहराच्या मजबुतीचे काम अर्धवट सोडून दिले.

And when Baasha heard it, he left building of Ramah, and let his worke cease.

6 ६ राजा आसाने मग सर्व यहूदी लोकांना बोलावले. बाशा ने रामा नगर बांधण्यासाठी वापरलेले दगड, लाकूड ही सामग्री हस्तगत केली. त्यांनी ती गिबा आणि मिस्पा या नगरांच्या बांधकामासाठी वापरली.

Then Asa the King tooke all Iudah, and caryed away the stones of Ramah and the tymber thereof, wherewith Baasha did builde, and he built therewith Geba and Mizpah.

7 ७ यावेळी हनानी नावाचा द्रष्टा यहूदाचा राजा आसा याच्याकडे आला व त्यास म्हणाला, “आसा तू मदतीसाठी तुझ्या परमेश्वर देवावर भरवंसा न ठेवता अरामाच्या राजावर अवलंबून राहिलास. तू परमेश्वराचे साहाय्य घ्यायला हवे होतेस. पण तू परमेश्वराचा धावा केला नाहीस म्हणून अरामाचे सैन्य तुझ्या हातातून सुटून गेले आहे.

And at that same time Hanani the Seer came to Asa King of Iudah, and saide vnto him, Because thou hast rested vpon the king of Aram, and not rested in the Lord thy God, therefore is the hoste of the King of Aram escaped out of thine hande.

8 ८ कूशी आणि लुबी यांचे सैन्य तर केवढे बलाढ्य होते! त्यांच्याकडे कितीतरी रथ आणि स्वार होते पण तेव्हा तू परमेश्वरावर भरवंसा ठेवलास आणि परमेश्वराने तुला विजय मिळवून दिला.

The Ethiopians and the Lubims, were they not a great hoste with charets and horsemen, exceeding many? yet because thou diddest rest vpon the Lord, he deliuered them into thine had.

9 ९ अखिल पृथ्वीवर परमेश्वराचे नेत्र निरीक्षण करीत असतात जे कोणी सरळ मनाने त्याच्याशी वर्ततात अशांना तो आपले पाठबळ देतो. पण तू मात्र मूर्खपणा केला आहेस. तेव्हा यापुढे तुला लढायांना तोंड द्यावे लागेल.”

For the eyes of the Lord beholde all the earth to shewe him selfe strong with them that are of perfite heart towarde him: thou hast then done foolishly in this: therefore from henceforth thou shalt haue warres.

10 १० द्रष्ट्याच्या या बोलण्याचा आसास राग आला व क्रोधाच्या भरात त्याने त्यास तुरुंगात डांबले. याच काळात आसा काही लोकांशी फार निर्दयतेने वागला.

Then Asa was wroth with the Seer, and put him into a prison: for he was displeased with him, because of this thing. And Asa oppressed certaine of the people at the same time.

11 ११ आसाची सर्व कृत्ये इस्राएल व यहूदी राजांचा इतिहास या पुस्तकात लिहिलेले आहेत.

And behold, the actes of Asa first and last, loe, they are written in the booke of the Kings of Iudah and Israel.

12 १२ आपल्या राज्याच्या एकोणचाळीसाव्या वर्षी आसा पायाच्या दुखण्याने बेजार झाला. त्याचा आजार खूप बळावला तरी त्याने दुखण्यात परमेश्वराचा धावा केला नाही. त्याने वैद्यांकरवी इलाज करून घेतला.

And Asa in the nine and thirtieth yeere of his reigne was diseased in his feete, and his disease was extreme: yet he sought not the Lord in his disease, but to the Phisicions.

13 १३ आपल्या कारकिर्दीच्या एक्केचाळीसाव्या वर्षी आसा मरण पावला व आपल्या पूर्वजांबरोबर त्याने चिरविश्रांती घेतली.

So Asa slept with his fathers, and dyed in the one and fourtieth yeere of his reigne.

14 १४ दावीद नगरात त्याने आधीच स्वत: साठी करून घेतलेल्या कबरीत लोकांनी त्याचे दफन केले. विविध सुवासिक द्रव्ये आणि मसाले घातलेल्या बिछान्यावर लोकांनी त्यास ठेवले. त्याच्या सन्मानाप्रीत्यर्थ त्यांनी मोठा जाळ केला.

And they buryed him in one of his sepulchres, which he had made for him selfe in the citie of Dauid, and layed him in the bed, which they had filled with sweete odours and diuers kindes of spices made by the arte of the apoticarie: and they burnt odours for him with an exceeding great fire.
