1 शमुवेल 8
It happened, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel.
2 २ त्याच्या प्रथम जन्मलेल्या मुलाचे नाव योएल व दुसऱ्याचे नाव अबीया असे होते; बैर-शेबा येथे ते न्यायाधीश होते.
Now the name of his firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abijah: they were judges in Beersheba.
3 ३ परंतु त्याचे पुत्र त्याच्या मार्गाने चालत नसत, तर ते अप्रामाणिक लाभांच्या पाठीमागे लागले होते. ते लाच घेऊन विपरीत न्याय करीत असत.
His sons did not walk in his ways, but turned aside toward dishonest gain, and took bribes, and perverted justice.
Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel to Ramah;
5 ५ आणि ते त्यास म्हणाले, “पाहा तुम्ही वयोवृद्ध झाले आहात आणि तुमचे पुत्र तुमच्या मार्गाने चालत नाहीत. आता सर्व राष्ट्रांप्रमाणे आमचा न्याय करायला आम्हावर राजा नेमा.”
and they said to him, "Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations."
6 ६ परंतु, “आमचा न्याय करायला आम्हांला राजा द्या,” असे जे त्यांनी म्हटले, त्याबद्दल शमुवेलाला वाईट वाटले. म्हणून शमुवेलाने परमेश्वराकडे प्रार्थना केली.
But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, "Give us a king to judge us." Samuel prayed to the LORD.
7 ७ तेव्हा परमेश्वराने शमुवेलास म्हटले, “लोक सांगतात त्या सर्वबाबतीत तू त्यांचा शब्द ऐक; कारण त्यांनी तुला नाकारले नाही, तर मला नाकारले आहे.
The LORD said to Samuel, "Listen to the voice of the people in all that they tell you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me, that I should not be king over them.
8 ८ मी त्यांना मिसरातून वर आणले त्या दिवसापासून आजपर्यंत जी सर्व कामे त्यांनी केली त्याप्रमाणे त्यांनी हे केले आहे, मला सोडून अन्य देवाची सेवा त्यांनी केली, आणि तसेच त्यांनी तुझ्याशी केले आहे.”
According to all the works which they have done to me since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even to this day, in that they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also to you.
9 ९ तर आता त्यांचे ऐक; तथापि तू त्याच्याशी खडसावून बोल आणि जो राजा त्याच्यावर राज्य करील त्याची रीत त्यांना समजावून सांग.
Now therefore listen to their voice: however you shall protest solemnly to them, and shall show them the way of the king who shall reign over them."
Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who asked of him a king.
11 ११ तो त्यांना म्हणाला, “जो राजा तुम्हावर राज्य करील त्याची रीत अशी होईल; तो तुमचे पुत्र घेऊन आपल्या रथांसाठी व आपले घोडेस्वार होण्यासाठी ठेवील आणि त्याच्या रथांपुढे ते धावतील.
He said, "This will be the way of the king who shall reign over you: he will take your sons, and appoint them to him, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and they shall run before his chariots.
12 १२ तो त्यांना आपले हजारांचे सरदार नेमून ठेवील. जमीन नांगरायला, आपली पिके कापायला, आणि आपली लढाईची शस्त्रे व आपली रथांची शस्त्रे करायला ठेवील.
And he will appoint for himself commanders of thousands, and commanders of fifties; and he will assign some to plow his ground, and to reap his harvest, and gather his vintage, and to make his implements of war, and the equipment of his chariots.
13 १३ तो तुमच्या मुली सुगंधी द्रव्ये तयार करणाऱ्या, स्वयंपाकिणी, आणि भटारखान्यात काम करणाऱ्या होण्यास घेईल.
He will take your daughters to be perfumers, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.
14 १४ तुमची जी उत्तम ती शेते, तुमचे द्राक्षमळे, आणि तुमचे जैतूनाचे मळे घेऊन, ते तो त्याच्या चाकरांना देईल.
He will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your olive groves, even their best, and give them to his servants.
He will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.
He will take your male servants, and your female servants, and your best cattle, and your donkeys, and put them to his work.
He will take the tenth of your flocks: and you shall be his servants.
18 १८ त्यानंतर तुम्ही आपणासाठी निवडलेल्या राजामुळे ओरडाल; परंतु परमेश्वर त्या दिवसात तुम्हास उत्तर देणार नाही.”
You shall cry out in that day because of your king whom you shall have chosen for yourselves, and the LORD will not answer you in that day."
But the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel; and they said, "No; but we will have a king over us,
20 २० म्हणजे आम्ही इतर सर्व राष्ट्रांसारखे होऊ, आणि आमचा राजा आमचा न्याय करील व आम्हापुढे चालून आमच्या लढाया लढेल.”
that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles."
Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he repeated them in the hearing of the LORD.
22 २२ मग तेव्हा परमेश्वर शमुवेलाशी बोलला, “तू त्यांचा शब्द ऐकून त्याच्यांवर राज्य करायला राजा नेमून ठेव.” तेव्हा शमुवेल इस्राएलाच्या मनुष्यांना म्हणाला, “तुम्ही प्रत्येकजण आपापल्या नगरास परत जा.”
The LORD said to Samuel, "Listen to their voice, and make them a king." Samuel said to the men of Israel, "Every man go to his city."
