യെശയ്യാവ് 37
And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he tore his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.
2 ൨ പിന്നെ അവൻ രാജധാനിവിചാരകൻ എല്യാക്കീമിനെയും രായസക്കാരൻ ശെബ്നയെയും പുരോഹിതന്മാരിൽ മൂപ്പന്മാരെയും ചാക്കുടുത്തവരായി ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു.
And he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.
3 ൩ അവർ അവനോട് പറഞ്ഞത്: “ഹിസ്കീയാവ് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുന്നു: ‘ഇതു കഷ്ടവും ശാസനയും നിന്ദയും ഉള്ള ദിവസമത്രേ; കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾ ജനിക്കാറായിരിക്കുന്നു; പ്രസവിക്കുവാനോ ശക്തിയില്ല.
And they said to him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.
4 ൪ ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തെ നിന്ദിക്കുവാൻ രബ്-ശാക്കേയെ അവന്റെ യജമാനനായ അശ്ശൂർ രാജാവ് അയച്ചു പറയിക്കുന്ന വാക്ക് നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ പക്ഷേ കേൾക്കും; നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന വാക്കിനു പ്രതികാരംചെയ്യും; അതിനാൽ ഇനിയും ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവർക്കു വേണ്ടി പക്ഷവാദം കഴിക്കണമേ’”.
It may be the LORD thy God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God, and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: therefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that is left.
So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.
6 ൬ “നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനനോടു പറയേണ്ടത് എന്തെന്നാൽ: ‘യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: അശ്ശൂർരാജാവിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ എന്നെ നിന്ദിച്ചതായി നീ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന വാക്കുനിമിത്തം ഭയപ്പെടണ്ടാ.
And Isaiah said to them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words that thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
7 ൭ ഞാൻ അവന് ഒരു മനോവിഭ്രമം വരുത്തും; അവൻ ഒരു ശ്രുതി കേട്ടിട്ട് സ്വദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകും; ഞാൻ അവനെ അവന്റെ സ്വന്തദേശത്തുവച്ചു വാൾകൊണ്ടു വീഴുമാറാക്കും’”.
Behold, I will send a wind upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.
8 ൮ രബ്-ശാക്കേ മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്ന് അശ്ശൂർ രാജാവ് ലിബ്നയുടെ നേരെ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുന്നതു കണ്ടു; അവൻ ലാക്കീശ് വിട്ടുപോയി എന്ന് അവൻ കേട്ടിരുന്നു.
So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: for he had heard that he had departed from Lachish.
9 ൯ എന്നാൽ കൂശ്‌രാജാവായ തിർഹാക്ക തന്റെ നേരെ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുവാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു കേട്ടിട്ട് അശ്ശൂർ രാജാവായ സൻഹേരീബ് ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു കല്പിച്ചത്:
And he heard it said concerning Tirhakah king of Cush, He is come forth to make war with thee. And when he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,
10 ൧൦ “നിങ്ങൾ യെഹൂദാ രാജാവായ ഹിസ്കീയാവോടു പറയേണ്ടത്: ‘“യെരൂശലേം അശ്ശൂർരാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചുകളയുകയില്ല” എന്നു നീ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ ദൈവം നിന്നെ ചതിക്കരുത്.
Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God, in whom thou trustest, deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
11 ൧൧ അശ്ശൂർരാജാക്കന്മാർ സകലദേശങ്ങളോടും ചെയ്തതും അവയ്ക്ക് ഉന്മൂലനാശം വരുത്തിയതും നീ കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ; നീ വിടുവിക്കപ്പെടുമോ?
Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by destroying them utterly; and shalt thou be delivered?
12 ൧൨ ഗോസാൻ, ഹാരാൻ, രേസെഫ, തെലസ്സാരിലെ ഏദേന്യർ എന്നിങ്ങനെ എന്റെ പൂര്‍വ്വ പിതാക്കന്മാർ നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞ ജനതകളുടെ ദേവന്മാർ അവരെ വിടുവിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ?
Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed, as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden who were in Telassar?
13 ൧൩ ഹമാത്ത് രാജാവും അർപ്പാദ്‌ രാജാവും സെഫർവ്വയീംപട്ടണം, ഹേന, ഇവ്വ എന്നിവയ്ക്കു രാജാവായിരുന്നവനും എവിടെ?’”
Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arphad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah?
14 ൧൪ ഹിസ്കീയാവ് ദൂതന്മാരുടെ കൈയിൽനിന്ന് എഴുത്തു വാങ്ങി വായിച്ചു; ഹിസ്കീയാവ് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ ചെന്നു യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ അത് വിടർത്തി.
And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up to the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.
And Hezekiah prayed to the LORD, saying,
16 ൧൬ “യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ കെരൂബുകളുടെ മീതെ അധിവസിക്കുന്നവനായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവേ, അങ്ങ് ഒരുവൻ മാത്രം ഭൂമിയിലെ സർവ്വരാജ്യങ്ങൾക്കും ദൈവമാകുന്നു; അങ്ങ് ആകാശത്തെയും ഭൂമിയെയും ഉണ്ടാക്കി.
O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubim, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth.
17 ൧൭ യഹോവേ, ചെവിചായിച്ചു കേൾക്കണമേ; യഹോവേ, തൃക്കണ്ണു തുറന്നു നോക്കണമേ; ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തെ നിന്ദിക്കുവാൻ ആളയച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന സൻഹേരീബിന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ കേൾക്കണമേ.
Incline thy ear, O LORD, and hear; open thy eyes, O LORD, and see: and hear all the words of Sennacherib, who hath sent to reproach the living God.
Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations, and their countries,
19 ൧൯ അവരുടെ ദേവന്മാരെ തീയിൽ ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞതു സത്യം തന്നെ; അവ ദേവന്മാരല്ല, മനുഷ്യരുടെ കൈപ്പണിയായ മരവും കല്ലും മാത്രം ആയിരുന്നുവല്ലോ; അതിനാൽ അവർ അവയെ നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.
20 ൨൦ ഇപ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, അങ്ങ് ഒരുവൻ മാത്രം യഹോവ എന്നു ഭൂമിയിലെ സകലരാജ്യങ്ങളും അറിയേണ്ടതിന് ഞങ്ങളെ അവന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്നു രക്ഷിക്കണമേ”.
Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD, even thou only.
21 ൨൧ ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാവ് ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചത് എന്തെന്നാൽ: “യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ‘നീ അശ്ശൂർ രാജാവായ സൻഹേരീബ് നിമിത്തം എന്നോട് പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചതുകൊണ്ട്,
Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Though thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria:
22 ൨൨ അവനെക്കുറിച്ച് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനം ഇതാകുന്നു: “സീയോൻപുത്രിയായ കന്യക നിന്നെ നിന്ദിച്ചു പരിഹസിക്കുന്നു; യെരൂശലേംപുത്രി നിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ തല കുലുക്കുന്നു.
This is the word which the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin, the daughter of Zion, hath despised thee, and mocked thee; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.
23 ൨൩ നീ ആരെയാകുന്നു നിന്ദിച്ചു ദുഷിച്ചത്? ആർക്ക് വിരോധമായിട്ടാകുന്നു നീ ശബ്ദം ഉയർത്തുകയും തല ഉന്നതമായി ഉയർത്തുകയും ചെയ്തത്? യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധദൈവം വിരോധമായിട്ടു തന്നെയല്ലയോ?
Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted thy eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.
24 ൨൪ നിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ മുഖാന്തരം നീ കർത്താവിനെ നിന്ദിച്ചു; ‘എന്റെ അസംഖ്യരഥങ്ങളോടു കൂടി ഞാൻ മലമുകളിലും ലെബാനോന്റെ ശിഖരങ്ങളിലും കയറിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അതിലെ പൊക്കമുള്ള ദേവദാരുക്കളും വിശേഷമായ സരളവൃക്ഷങ്ങളും ഞാൻ മുറിക്കും; അതിന്റെ അറ്റത്തെ കൊടുമുടിവരെയും അതിന്റെ അതിനിബിഡമായ കാടുവരെയും ഞാൻ കടന്നുചെല്ലും;
By thy servants hast thou reproached the Lord, and hast said, By the multitude of my chariots have I come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon; and I will cut down its tall cedars, and its choice fir trees: and I will enter into the height of its border, and the forest of his Carmel.
25 ൨൫ ഞാൻ വെള്ളം കുഴിച്ചെടുത്തു കുടിക്കും; എന്റെ കാലടികളാൽ ഈജിപ്റ്റിലെ സകലനദികളെയും വറ്റിക്കും’ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
I have dug, and drunk water; and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of the besieged places.
26 ൨൬ ഞാൻ പണ്ടുപണ്ടേ അതിനെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി; പൂർവ്വകാലത്തുതന്നെ അതിനെ നിർമ്മിച്ചു എന്നു നീ കേട്ടിട്ടില്ലയോ? നീ ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളെ മുടിച്ചു ശൂന്യകൂമ്പാരങ്ങളാക്കുവാൻ ഞാൻ ഇപ്പോൾ സംഗതി വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
Hast thou not heard long ago, how I have done it; and of ancient times, that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste fortified cities into ruinous heaps.
27 ൨൭ അതുകൊണ്ട് അവയിലെ നിവാസികൾ ദുർബ്ബലന്മാരായി വിരണ്ട് അമ്പരന്നുപോയി; അവർ വയലിലെ പുല്ലും പച്ചച്ചെടിയും പുരപ്പുറങ്ങളിലെ പുല്ലും വളരുംമുമ്പ് കരിഞ്ഞുപോയ ധാന്യവുംപോലെ ആയിത്തീർന്നു.
Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded: they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as grain blighted before it is grown up.
28 ൨൮ എന്നാൽ നിന്റെ ഇരിപ്പും നിന്റെ ഗമനവും ആഗമനവും എന്റെ നേരെയുള്ള നിന്റെ കോപഭ്രാന്തും ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു.
But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.
29 ൨൯ എന്റെ നേരെയുള്ള നിന്റെ കോപഭ്രാന്തുകൊണ്ടും നിന്റെ അഹങ്കാരം എന്റെ ചെവിയിൽ എത്തിയിരിക്കുകകൊണ്ടും ഞാൻ എന്റെ കൊളുത്തു നിന്റെ മൂക്കിലും എന്റെ കടിഞ്ഞാൺ നിന്റെ അധരങ്ങളിലും ഇട്ടു നീ വന്ന വഴിക്കുതന്നെ നിന്നെ മടക്കി കൊണ്ടുപോകും”.
Because thy rage against me, and thy tumult, is come up into my ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
30 ൩൦ എന്നാൽ ഇതു നിനക്ക് അടയാളമാകും: നിങ്ങൾ ഈ വർഷം പടുവിത്തു വിളയുന്നതും രണ്ടാം വർഷം താനെ കിളുർത്തുവിളയുന്നതും തിന്നും; മൂന്നാം വർഷം നിങ്ങൾ വിതച്ചു കൊയ്യുകയും മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കി അവയുടെ പഴം തിന്നുകയും ചെയ്യും.
And this shall be a sign to thee, Ye shall eat this year such as groweth of itself; and the second year that which springeth of the same: and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.
And the remnant that hath escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward:
32 ൩൨ ഒരു ശേഷിപ്പ് യെരൂശലേമിൽ നിന്നും ഒരു രക്ഷിതഗണം സീയോൻ പർവ്വതത്തിൽനിന്നും പുറപ്പെട്ടുവരും;’ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ തീക്ഷ്ണത അതിനെ അനുഷ്ഠിക്കും”.
For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape from mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.
33 ൩൩ അതുകൊണ്ട് യഹോവ അശ്ശൂർരാജാവിനെക്കുറിച്ച് ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “അവൻ ഈ നഗരത്തിലേക്കു വരുകയില്ല; ഒരു അമ്പ് അവിടെ എയ്യുകയുമില്ല; അതിന്റെ നേരെ പരിചയോടുകൂടി വരുകയില്ല; അതിനെതിരെ ഉപരോധ മൺകൂന ഉണ്ടാക്കുകയുമില്ല.
Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor cast a mount against it.
By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.
35 ൩൫ “എന്റെ നിമിത്തവും എന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ നിമിത്തവും ഞാൻ ഈ നഗരത്തെ പാലിച്ചു രക്ഷിക്കും” എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.
For I will defend this city to save it for my own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.
36 ൩൬ എന്നാൽ യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു അശ്ശൂർപാളയത്തിൽ ഒരുലക്ഷത്തെൺപത്തയ്യായിരം പേരെ കൊന്നു; ജനം രാവിലെ എഴുന്നേറ്റപ്പോൾ അവർ എല്ലാവരും ശവങ്ങളായി കിടക്കുന്നത് കണ്ടു.
Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred and eighty and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead bodies.
So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
38 ൩൮ എന്നാൽ അവൻ തന്റെ ദേവനായ നിസ്രോക്കിന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്ന സമയത്ത് അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരായ അദ്രമ്മേലെക്കും ശരേസെരും അവനെ വാൾകൊണ്ടു കൊന്നിട്ട് അരാരാത്ത് ദേശത്തേക്ക് ഓടിപ്പൊയ്ക്കളഞ്ഞു; അവന്റെ മകനായ ഏസെർ-ഹദ്ദോൻ അവനു പകരം രാജാവായി.
And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Armenia: and Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead.
