2 രാജാക്കന്മാർ 8

1 ൧ അനന്തരം എലീശാ താൻ മകനെ ജീവിപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തിരുന്ന സ്ത്രീയോട്: “നീയും നിന്റെ കുടുംബവും ഇവിടെനിന്ന് പുറപ്പെട്ട് എവിടെയെങ്കിലും പരദേശവാസം ചെയ്തുകൊള്ളുക; യഹോവ ഒരു ക്ഷാമം വരുത്തുവാൻ പോകുന്നു; അത് ഏഴു സംവത്സരം ദേശത്ത് ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.

Now Elisha had spoken to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, “Arise, and go, you and your household, and stay for a while wherever you can; for the LORD has called for a famine. It will also come on the land for seven years.”

2 ൨ ആ സ്ത്രീ ദൈവപുരുഷൻ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ചെയ്തു; അവളും കുടുബവും ഫെലിസ്ത്യദേശത്ത് ഏഴു സംവത്സരം പരദേശവാസം ചെയ്തു.

The woman arose, and did according to the man of God’s word. She went with her household, and lived in the land of the Philistines for seven years.

3 ൩ ഏഴു സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ട് അവൾ ഫെലിസ്ത്യദേശത്തുനിന്ന് മടങ്ങിവന്നു; പിന്നെ അവൾ തന്റെ നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട വീടും നിലവും സംബന്ധിച്ച് രാജാവിനോട് സങ്കടം ബോധിപ്പിക്കുവാൻ ചെന്നു.

At the end of seven years, the woman returned from the land of the Philistines. Then she went out to beg the king for her house and for her land.

4 ൪ ആ സമയം രാജാവ് ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരനായ ഗേഹസിയോട് സംസാരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. “എലീശാ ചെയ്ത വൻകാര്യങ്ങളൊക്കെ നീ എന്നോട് വിവരിച്ചുപറക” എന്ന് രാജാവ് കല്പിച്ചു.

Now the king was talking with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, “Please tell me all the great things that Elisha has done.”

5 ൫ മരിച്ചുപോയവനെ ജീവിപ്പിച്ച വിവരം അവൻ രാജാവിനെ കേൾപ്പിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നെ എലീശാ മകനെ ജീവിപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തിരുന്ന ആ സ്ത്രീ വന്ന് തന്റെ വീടും നിലവും സംബന്ധിച്ച് രാജാവിനോട് സങ്കടം ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ ഗേഹസി: “യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, ഇവൾ തന്നേ ആ സ്ത്രീ; എലീശാ ജീവിപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്ത മകൻ ഇവൻ തന്നേ” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.

As he was telling the king how he had restored to life him who was dead, behold, the woman whose son he had restored to life begged the king for her house and for her land. Gehazi said, “My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.”

6 ൬ രാജാവ് സ്ത്രീയോട് ചോദിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവളും അത് വിവരിച്ച് പറഞ്ഞു. രാജാവ് ഒരു ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനെ നിയമിച്ചു: “അവൾക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്നതൊക്കെയും അവൾ ദേശം വിട്ടുപോയ നാൾമുതൽ ഇതുവരെയുള്ള നിലത്തിന്റെ ആദായവും ഇവൾക്കു കൊടുപ്പിക്കണം” എന്ന് കല്പിച്ചു.

When the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed to her a certain officer, saying, “Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.”

7 ൭ അനന്തരം എലീശാ ദമ്മേശെക്കിൽ ചെന്നു; അന്ന് അരാം രാജാവായ ബെൻ-ഹദദ് രോഗിയായി കിടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു; ദൈവപുരുഷൻ വന്നിട്ടുണ്ട് എന്ന് അവന് അറിവുകിട്ടി.

Elisha came to Damascus; and Benhadad the king of Syria was sick. He was told, “The man of God has come here.”

8 ൮ രാജാവ് ഹസായേലിനോട്: “ഒരു സമ്മാനം എടുത്തുകൊണ്ട് ദൈവപുരുഷനെ ചെന്നുകണ്ട്, ‘ഈ ദീനം മാറി എനിക്ക് സൗഖ്യം വരുമോ’ എന്ന് അവൻ മുഖാന്തരം യഹോവയോട് ചോദിക്ക” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.

The king said to Hazael, “Take a present in your hand, and go meet the man of God, and enquire of the LORD by him, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’”

9 ൯ അങ്ങനെ ഹസായേൽ ദമ്മേശെക്കിലെ എല്ലാതരത്തിലും ഉള്ള വിശേഷവസ്തുക്കൾ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത് നാല്പത് ഒട്ടകച്ചുമടായി അവനെ ചെന്നുകണ്ട് അവന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു: “നിന്റെ മകൻ അരാം രാജാവായ ബെൻ-ഹദദ് എന്നെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ‘ഈ ദീനം മാറി എനിക്ക് സൗഖ്യം വരുമോ’ എന്ന് ചോദിക്കുന്നു” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന് എലീശാ;

So Hazael went to meet him and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels’ burden, and came and stood before him and said, “Your son Benhadad king of Syria has sent me to you, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’”

10 ൧൦ നീ ചെന്ന് അവനോട്: “നിനക്ക് നിശ്ചയമായി സൗഖ്യം വരും എന്ന് പറക; എന്നാൽ അവൻ നിശ്ചയമായി മരിച്ചുപോകുമെന്ന് യഹോവ എനിക്ക് വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിത്തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.

Elisha said to him, “Go, tell him, ‘You will surely recover;’ however the LORD has shown me that he will surely die.”

11 ൧൧ പിന്നെ അവന് ലജ്ജ തോന്നുവോളം ഇമവെട്ടാതെ അവനെ ഉറ്റുനോക്കി ദൈവപുരുഷൻ കരഞ്ഞു.

He settled his gaze steadfastly on him, until he was ashamed. Then the man of God wept.

12 ൧൨ “യജമാനൻ കരയുന്നത് എന്ത്?” എന്ന് ഹസായേൽ ചോദിച്ചതിന് അവൻ: “നീ യിസ്രായേൽ മക്കളോട് ചെയ്യുവാനിരിക്കുന്ന ദോഷം ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു തന്നേ; നീ അവരുടെ ദുർഗ്ഗങ്ങളെ തീയിൽ ചുടുകയും അവരുടെ യൗവനക്കാരെ വാൾകൊണ്ട് കൊല്ലുകയും അവരുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ അടിച്ചു കൊല്ലുകയും അവരുടെ ഗർഭിണികളുടെ ഉദരം പിളർക്കയും ചെയ്യും” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.

Hazael said, “Why do you weep, my lord?” He answered, “Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel. You will set their strongholds on fire, and you will kill their young men with the sword, and will dash their little ones in pieces, and rip up their pregnant women.”

13 ൧൩ “ഈ മഹാകാര്യം ചെയ്യുവാനിരിക്കുന്ന നായായ അടിയൻ എന്തുമാത്രമുള്ളു” എന്ന് ഹസായേൽ പറഞ്ഞതിന് എലീശാ: “നീ അരാമിൽ രാജാവാകുമെന്ന് യഹോവ എനിക്ക് വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിത്തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.

Hazael said, “But what is your servant, who is but a dog, that he could do this great thing?” Elisha answered, “The LORD has shown me that you will be king over Syria.”

14 ൧൪ അവൻ എലീശയെ വിട്ട് പുറപ്പെട്ട് തന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നപ്പോൾ: “എലീശാ നിന്നോട് എന്ത് പറഞ്ഞു” എന്ന് അവൻ ചോദിച്ചു. “നിനക്ക് നിശ്ചയമായി സൗഖ്യം വരും എന്ന് അവൻ എന്നോട് പറഞ്ഞു” എന്ന് അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

Then he departed from Elisha, and came to his master, who said to him, “What did Elisha say to you?” He answered, “He told me that you would surely recover.”

15 ൧൫ പിറ്റെന്നാൾ അവൻ ഒരു കമ്പിളി എടുത്ത് വെള്ളത്തിൽ മുക്കി അവന്റെ മുഖത്തിട്ടു; അതിനാൽ അവൻ ശ്വാസം മുട്ടി മരിച്ചുപോയി; ഹസായേൽ അവനു പകരം രാജാവായി.

On the next day, he took a thick cloth, dipped it in water, and spread it on the king’s face, so that he died. Then Hazael reigned in his place.

16 ൧൬ യിസ്രായേൽ രാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോരാമിന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ അഞ്ചാം ആണ്ടിൽ, യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യെഹൂദയിൽ രാജാവായിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നെ, യെഹൂദാ രാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ മകൻ യെഹോരാം യെഹൂദയിൽ രാജാവായി.

In the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being king of Judah then, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.

17 ൧൭ അവൻ വാഴ്ച തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവന് മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ട് വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവൻ എട്ട് സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമിൽ വാണു.

He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign. He reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

18 ൧൮ ആഹാബിന്റെ മകൾ അവന് ഭാര്യയായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് അവൻ ആഹാബ് ഗൃഹത്തെപ്പോലെ യിസ്രായേൽ രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വഴിയിൽ നടന്ന് യഹോവയ്ക്ക് അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളത് ചെയ്തു.

He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did Ahab’s house, for he married Ahab’s daughter. He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight.

19 ൧൯ എങ്കിലും യഹോവ തന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിനോട്, അവനും അവന്റെ മക്കൾക്കും എന്നേക്കും ഒരു ദീപം നല്കും, എന്ന് വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്തിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് അവന്റെ നിമിത്തം യെഹൂദയെ നശിപ്പിക്കുവാൻ തനിക്കു മനസ്സായില്ല.

However, the LORD would not destroy Judah, for David his servant’s sake, as he promised him to give to him a lamp for his children always.

20 ൨൦ അവന്റെ കാലത്ത് ഏദോമ്യർ യെഹൂദയുടെ അധികാരത്തോട് മത്സരിച്ചു തങ്ങൾക്ക് ഒരു രാജാവിനെ വാഴിച്ചു.

In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.

21 ൨൧ അപ്പോൾ യെഹോരാം നിരവധി രഥങ്ങളുമായി സായിരിലേക്ക് ചെന്നു; എന്നാൽ രാത്രിയിൽ അവൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് തന്നെ വളഞ്ഞിരുന്ന ഏദോമ്യരെയും രഥനായകന്മാരെയും തോല്പിച്ചു; പടയാളികൾ തങ്ങളുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളിലേക്ക് ഓടിപ്പോയി.

Then Joram crossed over to Zair, and all his chariots with him; and he rose up by night and struck the Edomites who surrounded him with the captains of the chariots; and the people fled to their tents.

22 ൨൨ ഏദോമ്യർ യെഹൂദയുടെ അധികാരത്തോട് ഇന്നുവരെ മത്സരിച്ചു നില്ക്കുന്നു; ആ കാലത്ത് തന്നെ ലിബ്നയും മത്സരിച്ചു.

So Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah to this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.

23 ൨൩ യെഹോരാമിന്റെ മറ്റ് വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവൻ ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും യെഹൂദാ രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

The rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

24 ൨൪ യെഹോരാം തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടുകൂടെ ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ അഹസ്യാവ് അവന് പകരം രാജാവായി.

Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in David’s city; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his place.

25 ൨൫ യിസ്രായേൽ രാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ മകൻ യോരാമിന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ പന്ത്രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടിൽ യെഹൂദാ രാജാവായ യെഹോരാമിന്റെ മകൻ അഹസ്യാവ് രാജാവായി.

In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign.

26 ൨൬ അഹസ്യാവ് വാഴ്ച തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവന് ഇരുപത്തിരണ്ടു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവൻ ഒരു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമിൽ വാണു. അവന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ പേർ അഥല്യാ എന്നായിരുന്നു; അവൾ യിസ്രായേൽ രാജാവായ ഒമ്രിയുടെ പൌത്രി ആയിരുന്നു.

Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri king of Israel.

27 ൨൭ അവൻ ആഹാബ് ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ വഴിയിൽ നടന്ന് ആഹാബ് ഗൃഹം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ യഹോവയ്ക്ക് അനിഷ്ടമായ കാര്യങ്ങൾ ചെയ്തു; അവൻ ആഹാബിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തോട് വിവാഹബന്ധമുള്ളവൻ ആയിരുന്നുവല്ലോ.

He walked in the way of Ahab’s house and did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, as did Ahab’s house, for he was the son-in-law of Ahab’s house.

28 ൨൮ അവൻ ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോരാമിനോടുകൂടെ ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്ക് അരാം രാജാവായ ഹസായേലിനോട് യുദ്ധം ചെയ്‌വാൻ പോയി; എന്നാൽ അരാമ്യർ യോരാമിനെ മുറിവേല്പിച്ചു.

He went with Joram the son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth Gilead, and the Syrians wounded Joram.

29 ൨൯ അരാം രാജാവായ ഹസായേലിനോടുള്ള യുദ്ധത്തിൽ രാമയിൽവെച്ച് ഉണ്ടായ മുറിവുകൾക്ക് യിസ്രയേലിൽ ചികിത്സചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന് യോരാംരാജാവ് മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി; ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോരാം രോഗിയായതുകൊണ്ട് കൊണ്ട് യെഹൂദാ രാജാവായ യെഹോരാമിന്റെ മകൻ അഹസ്യാവ് യിസ്രയേലിൽ അവനെ കാണ്മാൻ ചെന്നിരുന്നു.

King Joram returned to be healed in Jezreel from the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. Ahaziah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.
