1 രാജാക്കന്മാർ 12
And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king.
2 ൨ നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകൻ യൊരോബെയാം ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ വച്ച് അത് കേട്ടപ്പോൾ - ശലോമോൻരാജാവിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽനിന്ന് യൊരോബെയാം ഓടിപ്പോയി ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ പാർക്കുകയായിരുന്നു
And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it, (for he was yet in Egypt, wither he had fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt,
3 ൩ യിസ്രായേല്യർ ആളയച്ച് അവനെ വിളിച്ചു വരുത്തിയിരുന്നു - യൊരോബെയാമും യിസ്രായേൽസഭയൊക്കെയും വന്ന് രെഹബെയാമിനോട് സംസാരിച്ചു:
and they sent and called him; ) that Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spake unto Rehoboam, saying,
4 ൪ “നിന്റെ അപ്പൻ ഭാരമുള്ള നുകമാണ് ഞങ്ങളുടെമേൽ വെച്ചത്; നിന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ കഠിനവേലയും അവൻ ഞങ്ങളുടെമേൽ വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഭാരമുള്ള നുകവും നീ കുറെച്ചു തരേണം; എന്നാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്നെ സേവിക്കാം” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.
5 ൫ അവൻ അവരോട്: “നിങ്ങൾ പോയി മൂന്ന് ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ട് വീണ്ടും എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുവിൻ “എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ജനം പോയി.
And he said unto them, Depart yet for three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.
6 ൬ രെഹബെയാംരാജാവ് തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ശലോമോന്റെ ജീവകാലത്ത് തന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ നിന്നിരുന്ന വൃദ്ധന്മാരോട് ആലോചിച്ചു: ‘ഈ ജനത്തോട് ഉത്തരം പറയേണ്ടതിന് നിങ്ങൾ എന്താലോചന പറയുന്നു’ എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചു.
And king Rehoboam took counsel with the old men, that had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, What counsel give ye me to return answer to this people?
7 ൭ അതിന് അവർ അവനോട്: ‘നീ ഇന്ന് ഈ ജനത്തിന് ഒരു സേവകനായിത്തീർന്ന് അവരെ സേവിച്ച് അവരോട് നല്ലവാക്ക് പറഞ്ഞാൽ അവർ എന്നും നിനക്ക് ദാസന്മാരായിരിക്കും’ എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.
8 ൮ എന്നാൽ വൃദ്ധന്മാർ തന്നോട് പറഞ്ഞ ആലോചന അവൻ ത്യജിച്ച്, തന്നോടുകൂടെ വളർന്നവരും, തന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ നില്‍ക്കുന്നവരുമായ യൗവനക്കാരോട് ആലോചന ചോദിച്ചു:
But he forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men that were grown up with him, that stood before him.
9 ൯ ‘നിന്റെ അപ്പൻ ഞങ്ങളുടെമേൽ വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന നുകം ഭാരം കുറെച്ച് തരേണം’ എന്നിങ്ങനെ എന്നോട് സംസാരിച്ച ഈ ജനത്തോട് നാം എന്ത് മറുപടി പറയേണം? നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉപദേശം എന്താണ്?’ എന്ന് അവരോട് ചോദിച്ചു.
And he said unto them, What counsel give ye, that we may return answer to this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke that thy father did put upon us lighter?
10 ൧൦ തന്നോടുകൂടെ വളർന്നുവന്ന യൗവനക്കാർ അവനോട്: “നിന്റെ അപ്പൻ ഭാരമുള്ള നുകം ഞങ്ങളുടെമേൽ വെച്ചു; നീ അത് ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ഭാരം കുറച്ച് തരേണം” എന്ന് നിന്നോട് പറഞ്ഞ ഈ ജനത്തോട് നീ ഈ വിധം ഉത്തരം പറയേണം: “എന്റെ ചെറുവിരൽ എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ അരക്കെട്ടിനെക്കാൾ വണ്ണമുള്ളതായിരിക്കും.
And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou say unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou speak unto them, My little finger is thicker than my father’s loins.
11 ൧൧ എന്റെ അപ്പൻ നിങ്ങളുടെമേൽ ഭാരമുള്ള നുകം ചുമത്തി; ഞാൻ അതിന് ഭാരം കൂട്ടും; എന്റെ അപ്പൻ നിങ്ങളെ ചാട്ടകൊണ്ട് ദണ്ഡിപ്പിച്ചു; ഞാനോ തേളുകളെക്കൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങളെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിക്കും” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു.
And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
12 ൧൨ ‘മൂന്നാംദിവസം എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വീണ്ടും വരുവിൻ’ എന്ന് രാജാവ് പറഞ്ഞതനുസരിച്ച് യൊരോബെയാമും സകലജനവും മൂന്നാംദിവസം രെഹബെയാമിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു.
So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king bade, saying, Come to me again the third day.
13 ൧൩ എന്നാൽ രാജാവ് ജനത്തോട് കഠിനമായി ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു; വൃദ്ധന്മാർ തന്നോട് പറഞ്ഞ ആലോചനയെ അവൻ ത്യജിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him;
14 ൧൪ യൗവനക്കാരുടെ ആലോചനപോലെ അവരോട്: “എന്റെ അപ്പൻ ഭാരമുള്ള നുകം നിങ്ങളുടെമേൽ വെച്ചു; ഞാനോ നിങ്ങളുടെ നുകത്തിന് ഭാരം കൂട്ടും; എന്റെ അപ്പൻ നിങ്ങളെ ചാട്ടകൊണ്ട് ദണ്ഡിപ്പിച്ചു; ഞാനോ തേളുകളെക്കൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങളെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിക്കും” എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
and spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions;
15 ൧൫ ഇങ്ങനെ രാജാവ് ജനത്തിന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടില്ല; യഹോവ ശീലോന്യനായ അഹിയാവ് മുഖാന്തരം നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകൻ യൊരോബെയാമിനോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനം നിവൃത്തിയാകേണ്ടതിന് ഈ കാര്യം യഹോവയുടെ ഹിതപ്രകാരം സംഭവിച്ചു.
So the king hearkened not unto the people; for it was a thing brought about of the LORD, that he might establish his word, which the LORD spake by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
16 ൧൬ രാജാവ് തങ്ങളുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേൾക്കയില്ലെന്ന് എല്ലാ യിസ്രായേലും കണ്ടപ്പോൾ ജനം രാജാവിനോട്: “ദാവീദിങ്കൽ ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് എന്ത് ഓഹരി? യിശ്ശായിപുത്രനിൽ ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് അവകാശമില്ലല്ലോ; യിസ്രായേലേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളിലേക്ക് പൊയ്ക്കൊൾവിൻ; ദാവീദേ, നിന്റെ സ്വന്തഗൃഹം പരിപാലിച്ചുകൊൾക” എന്നുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞ്, തങ്ങളുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
And when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.
But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
18 ൧൮ പിന്നെ രെഹബെയാംരാജാവ് ഭണ്ഡാരമേൽവിചാരകനായ അദോരാമിനെ അയച്ചു; എന്നാൽ എല്ലാ യിസ്രായേലും കൂടി അവനെ കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞ് കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു; രെഹബെയാംരാജാവോ വേഗത്തിൽ രഥം കയറി യെരൂശലേമിലേക്ക് ഓടിപ്പോന്നു.
Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the levy; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. And king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
So Israel rebelled against the house of David, unto this day.
20 ൨൦ യൊരോബെയാം മടങ്ങിവന്നു എന്ന് യിസ്രായേലൊക്കെയും കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അവർ ആളയച്ച് അവനെ സഭയിലേക്ക് വിളിപ്പിച്ച് അവനെ എല്ലാ യിസ്രായേലിനും രാജാവാക്കി; യെഹൂദാഗോത്രം അല്ലാതെ മറ്റാരും ദാവീദ്ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ പക്ഷം ചേർന്നില്ല.
And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was returned, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.
21 ൨൧ രെഹബെയാം യെരൂശലേമിൽ വന്നശേഷം യിസ്രായേൽ ഗൃഹത്തോട് യുദ്ധം ചെയ്ത് തന്റെ രാജത്വം വീണ്ടെടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്, അവൻ യെഹൂദാഗൃഹത്തിൽ നിന്നും ബെന്യാമീൻ ഗോത്രത്തിൽനിന്നും ശ്രേഷ്ഠയോദ്ധാക്കളായ ഒരുലക്ഷത്തി എൺപതിനായിരംപേരെ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി.
And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, and the tribe of Benjamin, an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.
But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
23 ൨൩ യെഹൂദാരാജാവും ശലോമോന്റെ മകനുമായ രെഹബെയാമിനോടും, യെഹൂദയിലേയും ബെന്യാമീനിലേയും സകല ഗൃഹത്തോടും ശേഷം ജനത്തോടും നീ പറയേണ്ടത്: “നിങ്ങൾ പുറപ്പെടരുത്;
Speak unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people, saying,
24 ൨൪ നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരായ യിസ്രായേൽ മക്കളോട് യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുകയുമരുത്; ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങിപ്പോകുവിൻ; ഈ കാര്യം എന്റെ ഹിതത്താൽ സംഭവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു. അവർ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട് അനുസരിച്ച് മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is of me. So they hearkened unto the word of the LORD, and returned and went their way, according to the word of the LORD.
25 ൨൫ അനന്തരം യൊരോബെയാം എഫ്രയീംമലനാട്ടിലെ ശെഖേമിനെ പണിത് അവിടെ പാർത്തു. അവൻ അവിടെനിന്ന് പുറപ്പെട്ട് പെനീയേലും പണിതു.
Then Jeroboam built Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and he went out from thence, and built Penuel.
And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David:
27 ൨൭ ഈ ജനം യെരൂശലേമിൽ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ യാഗം കഴിക്കുവാൻ പോയാൽ അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം യെഹൂദാരാജാവും തങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനനുമായ രെഹബെയാമിനോട് കൂറ് കാണിച്ച്, അവന്റെ പക്ഷം ചേർന്ന് എന്നെ കൊല്ലുകയും ചെയ്യും.’
if this people go up to offer sacrifices in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah; and they shall kill me, and return to Rehoboam king of Judah.
28 ൨൮ ആകയാൽ രാജാവിന് ലഭിച്ച ഉപദേശപ്രകാരം, അവൻ പൊന്നുകൊണ്ട് രണ്ട് കാളക്കുട്ടിയെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി; “യെരൂശലേംവരെ പോകുന്നത് നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടാണ്; യിസ്രായേലേ, നിന്നെ ഈജിപ്റ്റ്ദേശത്തുനിന്ന് കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ദൈവം ഇതാ” എന്ന് അവരോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold; and he said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem; behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
And he set the one in Beth-el, and the other put he in Dan.
And this thing became a sin: for the people went [to worship] before the one, even unto Dan.
31 ൩൧ അവൻ പൂജാഗിരിക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടാക്കി, സർവ്വജനത്തിൽനിന്നും ലേവ്യരല്ലാത്തവരെ പുരോഹിതന്മാരായി നിയമിച്ചു.
And he made houses of high places, and made priests from among all the people, which were not of the sons of Levi.
32 ൩൨ യെഹൂദയിൽ ആചരിച്ചുവന്ന ഉത്സവംപോലെ യൊരോബെയാം എട്ടാം മാസം പതിനഞ്ചാം തിയ്യതി ഒരു ഉത്സവം നിശ്ചയിച്ച് യാഗപീഠത്തിൽ യാഗങ്ങൾ അർപ്പിച്ചു; താൻ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ കാളക്കുട്ടികൾക്ക് യാഗം കഴിക്കേണ്ടതിന് ബേഥേലിലും അവൻ അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചെയ്തു; താൻ ബേഥേലിൽ നിർമ്മിച്ച പൂജാഗിരികളിൽ പുരോഹിതന്മാരേയും നിയമിച്ചു.
And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he went up unto the altar; so did he in Beth-el, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Beth-el the priests of the high places which he had made.
33 ൩൩ അവൻ സ്വയം നിശ്ചയിച്ച എട്ടാം മാസം പതിനഞ്ചാം തിയ്യതി ബേഥേലിൽ താൻ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ യാഗപീഠത്തിൽ ചെന്ന് യാഗം കഴിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേൽ മക്കൾക്ക് ഒരു ഉത്സവം നിയമിച്ച്, ധൂപപീഠത്തിൽ ധൂപം അർപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
And he went up unto the altar which he had made in Beth-el on the fifteenth day in the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart: and he ordained a feast for the children of Israel, and went up unto the altar, to burn incense.
