റോമർ 9
1 ഞാൻ ക്രിസ്തുവിൽ സത്യം പറയുന്നു; ഞാൻ പറയുന്നതു ഭോഷ്കല്ല;
I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience bearing witness with me in the Holy Spirit,
2 എനിക്കു വലിയ ദുഃഖവും ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ഇടവിടാതെ നോവും ഉണ്ടു എന്നു എന്റെ മനസ്സാക്ഷി എനിക്കു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിൽ സാക്ഷിയായിരിക്കുന്നു.
that I have great sorrow and unceasing pain in my heart.
3 ജഡപ്രകാരം എന്റെ ചാൎച്ചക്കാരായ എന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാൎക്കു വേണ്ടി ഞാൻ തന്നേ ക്രിസ്തുവിനോടു വേറുവിട്ടു ശാപഗ്രസ്തനാവാൻ ഞാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കാമായിരുന്നു.
For I could wish that I myself were anathema from Christ for my brethren’s sake, my kinsmen according to the flesh:
4 അവർ യിസ്രായേല്യർ; പുത്രത്വവും തേജസ്സും നിയമങ്ങളും ന്യായപ്രമാണവും ആരാധനയും വാഗ്ദത്തങ്ങളും അവൎക്കുള്ളവ;
who are Israelites; whose is the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service [of God], and the promises;
5 പിതാക്കന്മാരും അവൎക്കുള്ളവർ തന്നേ; ജഡപ്രകാരം ക്രിസ്തുവും അവരിൽനിന്നല്ലോ ഉത്ഭവിച്ചതു; അവൻ സൎവ്വത്തിന്നും മീതെ ദൈവമായി എന്നെന്നേക്കും വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടവൻ. ആമേൻ. (aiōn g165)
whose are the fathers, and of whom is Christ as concerning the flesh, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
6 ദൈവവചനം വൃഥാവായിപ്പോയി എന്നല്ല; യിസ്രായേലിൽനിന്നു ഉത്ഭവിച്ചവർ എല്ലാം യിസ്രായേല്യർ എന്നും
But [it is] not as though the word of God hath come to nought. For they are not all Israel, that are of Israel:
7 അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ സന്തതിയാകയാൽ എല്ലാവരും മക്കൾ എന്നും വരികയില്ല; “യിസ്ഹാക്കിൽനിന്നു ജനിക്കുന്നവർ നിന്റെ സന്തതി എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും” എന്നേയുള്ളു.
neither, because they are Abraham’s seed, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
8 അതിന്റെ അൎത്ഥമോ: ജഡപ്രകാരം ജനിച്ച മക്കൾ അല്ല ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മക്കൾ; വാഗ്ദത്തപ്രകാരം ജനിച്ച മക്കളെയത്രേ സന്തതി എന്നു എണ്ണുന്നു.
That is, it is not the children of the flesh that are children of God; but the children of the promise are reckoned for a seed.
9 “ഈ സമയത്തേക്കു ഞാൻ വരും; അപ്പോൾ സാറെക്കു ഒരു മകൻ ഉണ്ടാകും” എന്നല്ലോ വാഗ്ദത്തവചനം.
For this is a word of promise, According to this season will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.
10 അത്രയുമല്ല, റിബെക്കയും നമ്മുടെ പിതാവായ യിസ്ഹാക്ക് എന്ന ഏകനാൽ ഗൎഭം ധരിച്ചു,
And not only so; but Rebecca also having conceived by one, [even] by our father Isaac—
11 കുട്ടികൾ ജനിക്കയോ ഗുണമാകട്ടെ ദോഷമാകട്ടെ ഒന്നും പ്രവൎത്തിക്കയോ ചെയ്യുംമുമ്പേ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിൻ പ്രകാരമുള്ള ദൈവനിൎണ്ണയം പ്രവൃത്തികൾ നിമിത്തമല്ല വിളിച്ചവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം നിമിത്തം തന്നേ വരേണ്ടതിന്നു:
for [the children] being not yet born, neither having done anything good or bad, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth,
12 “മൂത്തവൻ ഇളയവനെ സേവിക്കും” എന്നു അവളോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
it was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
13 “ഞാൻ യാക്കോബിനെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു ഏശാവിനെ ദ്വേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
Even as it is written, Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.
14 ആകയാൽ നാം എന്തു പറയേണ്ടു? ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പക്കൽ അനീതി ഉണ്ടോ? ഒരു നാളും ഇല്ല.
What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
15 “എനിക്കു കരുണ തോന്നേണം എന്നുള്ളവനോടു കരുണ തോന്നുകയും എനിക്കു കനിവു തോന്നേണം എന്നുള്ളവനോടു കനിവു തോന്നുകയും ചെയ്യും” എന്നു അവൻ മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.
For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.
16 അതുകൊണ്ടു ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നവനാലുമല്ല, ഓടുന്നവനാലുമല്ല, കരുണ തോന്നുന്ന ദൈവത്താലത്രേ സകലവും സാധിക്കുന്നതു.
So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that hath mercy.
17 “ഇതിന്നായിട്ടു തന്നേ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ നിൎത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നതു; നിന്നിൽ എന്റെ ശക്തി കാണിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും എന്റെ നാമം സൎവ്വഭൂമിയിലും പ്രസ്താവിക്കപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നും തന്നേ” എന്നു തിരുവെഴുത്തിൽ ഫറവോനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.
For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, For this very purpose did I raise thee up, that I might show in thee my power, and that my name might be published abroad in all the earth.
18 അങ്ങനെ തനിക്കു മനസ്സുള്ളവനോടു അവന്നു കരുണ തോന്നുന്നു; തനിക്കു മനസ്സുള്ളവരെ അവൻ കഠിനനാക്കുന്നു.
So then he hath mercy on whom he will, and whom he will he hardeneth.
19 ആകയാൽ അവൻ പിന്നെ കുറ്റം പറയുന്നതു എന്തു? ആർ അവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടത്തോടു എതിൎത്തുനില്ക്കുന്നു എന്നു നീ എന്നോടു ചോദിക്കും.
Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he still find fault? For who withstandeth his will?
20 അയ്യോ, മനുഷ്യാ, ദൈവത്തൊടു പ്രത്യുത്തരം പറയുന്ന നീ ആർ? മനഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതു മനഞ്ഞവനോടു: നീ എന്നെ ഇങ്ങനെ ചമെച്ചതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിക്കുമോ?
Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why didst thou make me thus?
21 അല്ല, കുശവന്നു അതേ പിണ്ഡത്തിൽനിന്നു ഒരു പാത്രം മാനത്തിന്നും മറ്റൊരു പാത്രം അപമാനത്തിന്നും ഉണ്ടാക്കുവാൻ മണ്ണിന്മേൽ അധികാരം ഇല്ലയോ?
Or hath not the potter a right over the clay, from the same lump to make one part a vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?
22 എന്നാൽ ദൈവം തന്റെ കോപം കാണിപ്പാനും ശക്തി വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുവാനും യെഹൂദന്മാരിൽനിന്നു മാത്രമല്ല,
What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering vessels of wrath fitted unto destruction:
23 ജാതികളിൽനിന്നും വിളിച്ചു തേജസ്സിന്നായി മുന്നൊരുക്കിയ കരുണാപാത്രങ്ങളായ നമ്മിൽ
and that he might make known the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercy, which he afore prepared unto glory,
24 തന്റെ തേജസ്സിന്റെ ധനം വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുവാനും ഇച്ഛിച്ചിട്ടു നാശയോഗ്യമായ കോപപാത്രങ്ങളെ വളരെ ദീൎഘക്ഷമയോടെ സഹിച്ചു എങ്കിൽ എന്തു?
[even] us, whom he also called, not from the Jews only, but also from the Gentiles?
25 “എന്റെ ജനമല്ലാത്തവരെ എന്റെ ജനം എന്നും പ്രിയയല്ലാത്തവളെ പ്രിയ എന്നും ഞാൻ വിളിക്കും.
As he saith also in Hosea, I will call that my people, which was not my people; And her beloved, that was not beloved.
26 നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ ജനമല്ല എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞ ഇടത്തിൽ അവർ ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മക്കൾ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും” എന്നു ഹോശേയാപുസ്തകത്തിലും അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുവല്ലോ.
And it shall be, [that] in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, There shall they be called sons of the living God.
27 യെശയ്യാവോ യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കുറിച്ചു: “യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ എണ്ണം കടൽക്കരയിലെ മണൽപോലെ ആയിരുന്നാലും ശേഷിപ്പത്രേ രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടൂ.
And Isaiah crieth concerning Israel, If the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, it is the remnant that shall be saved:
28 കൎത്താവു ഭൂമിയിൽ തന്റെ വചനം നിവൎത്തിച്ചു ക്ഷണത്തിൽ തീൎക്കും” എന്നു വിളിച്ചു പറയുന്നു.
for the Lord will execute [his] word upon the earth, finishing it and cutting it short.
29 “സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ കൎത്താവു നമുക്കു സന്തതിയെ ശേഷിപ്പിച്ചില്ലെങ്കിൽ നാം സൊദോമെപ്പോലെ ആകുമായിരുന്നു, ഗൊമോറെക്കു സദൃശമാകുമായിരുന്നു” എന്നു യെശയ്യാ മുമ്പുകൂട്ടി പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
And, as Isaiah hath said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, We had become as Sodom, and had been made like unto Gomorrah.
30 ആകയാൽ നാം എന്തു പറയേണ്ടു? നീതിയെ പിന്തുടരാത്ത ജാതികൾ നീതിപ്രാപിച്ചു, വിശ്വാസത്താലുള്ള നീതി തന്നേ.
What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who followed not after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith:
31 നീതിയുടെ പ്രമാണം പിന്തുടൎന്ന യിസ്രായേലോ ആ പ്രമാണത്തിങ്കൽ എത്തിയില്ല.
but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, did not arrive at [that] law.
32 അതെന്തുകൊണ്ടു? വിശ്വാസത്താലല്ല, പ്രവൃത്തികളാൽ അന്വേഷിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു തന്നേ അവർ ഇടൎച്ചക്കല്ലിന്മേൽ തട്ടി ഇടറി:
Wherefore? Because [they sought it] not by faith, but as it were by works. They stumbled at the stone of stumbling;
33 “ഇതാ, ഞാൻ സീയോനിൽ ഇടൎച്ചക്കല്ലും തടങ്ങൽ പാറയും വെക്കുന്നു; അവനിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവൻ ലജ്ജിച്ചു പോകയില്ല” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
even as it is written, Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence: And he that believeth on him shall not be put to shame.
