1 ശമൂവേൽ 12

1 അനന്തരം ശമൂവേൽ എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനോടും പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ: നിങ്ങൾ എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതിൽ ഒക്കെയും ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു, നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഒരു രാജാവിനെയും വാഴിച്ചുതന്നു.

Samuel said to all Israel, "Look, I have listened to your voice in all that you said to me, and have made a king over you.

2 ഇപ്പോൾ രാജാവു നിങ്ങളുടെ നായകനായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാനോ വൃദ്ധനും നരച്ചവനുമായി; എന്റെ മക്കൾ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു; എന്റെ ബാല്യംമുതൽ ഇന്നുവരെയും ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു നായകനായിരുന്നു.

Now, look, the king walks before you; and I am old and gray-headed; and look, my sons are with you: and I have walked before you from my youth to this day.

3 ഞാൻ ഇതാ, ഇവിടെ നില്ക്കുന്നു: ഞാൻ ഒരുത്തന്റെ കാളയെ അപഹരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ? ഒരുത്തന്റെ കഴുതയെ അപഹരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ? ഞാൻ വല്ലവനെയും ചതിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ? വല്ലവനെയും പീഡിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ? ഞാൻ വല്ലവന്റെയും കയ്യിൽനിന്നു കൈക്കൂലി വാങ്ങി എന്റെ കണ്ണു കുരുടാക്കീട്ടുണ്ടോ? യഹോവയുടെയും അവന്റെ അഭിഷിക്തന്റെയും മുമ്പാകെ എന്റെ നേരെ സാക്ഷീകരിപ്പിൻ; ഞാൻ അതു മടക്കിത്തരാം.

Here I am. Testify against me before YHWH, and before his anointed. Whose ox have I taken, or whose donkey have I taken, or whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed, or from whose hand have I taken a bribe, or a shoe? Testify against me, and I will restore it to you."

4 അതിന്നു അവർ: നീ ഞങ്ങളെ ചതിക്കയോ പീഡിപ്പിക്കയോ യാതൊരുത്തന്റെയും കയ്യിൽനിന്നു വല്ലതും അപഹരിക്കയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

They said, "You have not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither have you taken anything of any man's hand."

5 അവൻ പിന്നെയും അവരോടു: നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ പേരിൽ ഒന്നും കണ്ടില്ല എന്നുള്ളതിന്നു യഹോവ സാക്ഷി; അവന്റെ അഭിഷിക്തനും ഇന്നു സാക്ഷി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

He said to them, "YHWH is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that you have not found anything in my hand." They said, "He is witness."

6 അപ്പോൾ ശമൂവേൽ ജനത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ: മോശെയെയും അഹരോനെയും കല്പിച്ചാക്കുകയും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവരികയും ചെയ്തവൻ യഹോവ തന്നേ.

Samuel said to the people, "It is YHWH who appointed Moses and Aaron, and that brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt.

7 ആകയാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ ഒത്തുനില്പിൻ; യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാൎക്കും ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള സകലനീതികളെയും കുറിച്ചു ഞാൻ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നിങ്ങളോടു വ്യവഹരിക്കും.

Now therefore stand still, that I may plead with you before YHWH concerning all the righteous acts of YHWH, which he did to you and to your fathers.

8 യാക്കോബ് മിസ്രയീമിൽ ചെന്നു പാൎത്തു; അവിടെവെച്ചു നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചപ്പോൾ യഹോവ മോശെയെയും അഹരോനെയും അയച്ചു; അവർ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെ മിസ്രയീമിൽനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ഈ സ്ഥലത്തു പാൎക്കുമാറാക്കി.

"When Jacob went into Egypt, and the Egyptians oppressed them, and your fathers cried to YHWH, then YHWH sent Moses and Aaron, who brought your fathers out of Egypt, and made them to dwell in this place.

9 എന്നാൽ അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ മറന്നപ്പോൾ അവൻ അവരെ ഹാസോരിലെ സേനാപതിയായ സീസെരയുടെ കയ്യിലും ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കയ്യിലും മോവാബ്‌രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിലും ഏല്പിച്ചു, അവർ അവരോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തു.

"But they forgot YHWH their God; and he sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the army of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab; and they fought against them.

10 അപ്പോൾ അവർ യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചു: ഞങ്ങൾ യഹോവയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു ബാൽവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെയും അസ്തോരെത്ത് പ്രതിഷ്ഠകളെയും സേവിച്ചു പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇപ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങളെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കയ്യിൽ നിന്നു രക്ഷിക്കേണമേ; എന്നാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്നെ സേവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And they cried to YHWH, and they said, 'We have sinned, because we have forsaken YHWH, and have served the Baals and the Ashtaroth: but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve you.'

11 എന്നാറെ യഹോവ യെരുബ്ബാൽ, ബെദാൻ, യിഫ്താഹ്, ശമൂവേൽ എന്നിവരെ അയച്ചു ചുറ്റുമുള്ള ശത്രുക്കളുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു നിങ്ങളെ വിടുവിച്ചു; നിങ്ങൾ നിൎഭയമായി വസിച്ചു.

YHWH sent Jerubbaal, and Barak, and Jephthah, and Samuel, and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side; and you lived in safety.

12 പിന്നെ അമ്മോന്യരുടെ രാജാവായ നാഹാശ് നിങ്ങളുടെ നേരെ വരുന്നതു നിങ്ങൾ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു രാജാവായിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങൾ എന്നോടു: ഒരു രാജാവു ഞങ്ങളുടെമേൽ വാഴേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

"When you saw that Nahash the king of the people of Ammon came against you, you said to me, 'No, but a king shall reign over us;' when YHWH your God was your king.

13 ഇപ്പോൾ ഇതാ, നിങ്ങൾ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തവനും ആഗ്രഹിച്ചവനുമായ രാജാവു; യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഒരു രാജാവിനെ കല്പിച്ചാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

Now therefore see the king whom you have chosen, and whom you have asked for: and look, YHWH has set a king over you.

14 നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനയെ മറുക്കാതെ യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു അവനെ സേവിച്ചു അവന്റെ വാക്കു അനുസരിക്കയും നിങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളെ വാഴുന്ന രാജാവും നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു ചേൎന്നിരിക്കയും ചെയ്താൽ കൊള്ളാം.

If you will fear YHWH, and serve him, and listen to his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of YHWH, and both you and also the king who reigns over you are followers of YHWH your God, then he will rescue you.

15 എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു അനുസരിക്കാതെ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനയെ മറുത്താൽ യഹോവയുടെ കൈ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാൎക്കു വിരോധമായിരുന്നതുപോലെ നിങ്ങൾക്കും വിരോധമായിരിക്കും.

But if you will not listen to the voice of YHWH, but rebel against the commandment of YHWH, then the hand of YHWH will be against you, and against your king to destroy you.

16 ആകയാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ നിന്നു യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾ കാൺകെ ചെയ്‌വാൻ പോകുന്ന ഈ വലിയ കാൎയ്യം കണ്ടുകൊൾവിൻ.

"Now therefore stand still and see this great thing, which YHWH will do before your eyes.

17 ഇതു കോതമ്പുകൊയ്ത്തിന്റെ കാലമല്ലോ; ഞാൻ യഹോവയോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കും; അവൻ ഇടിയും മഴയും അയക്കും; നിങ്ങൾ ഒരു രാജാവിനെ ചോദിക്കയാൽ യഹോവയോടു ചെയ്ത ദോഷം എത്ര വലിയതെന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അതിനാൽ കണ്ടറിയും.

Isn't it wheat harvest today? I will call to YHWH, that he may send thunder and rain; and you shall know and see that your wickedness is great, which you have done in the sight of YHWH, in asking for a king."

18 അങ്ങനെ ശമൂവേൽ യഹോവയോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; യഹോവ അന്നു ഇടിയും മഴയും അയച്ചു; ജനമെല്ലാം യഹോവയെയും ശമൂവേലിനെയും ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.

So Samuel called to YHWH; and YHWH sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared YHWH and Samuel.

19 ജനമെല്ലാം ശമൂവേലിനോടു: അടിയങ്ങൾക്കു വേണ്ടി നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പ്രാൎത്ഥിക്കേണമേ; ഞങ്ങൾ മരിച്ചുപോകരുതേ; ഒരു രാജാവിനെ അപേക്ഷിച്ചതിൽ ഞങ്ങളുടെ സകലപാപങ്ങളോടും ഞങ്ങൾ ഈ ഒരു ദോഷവും കൂട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

All the people said to Samuel, "Pray for your servants to YHWH your God, that we not die; for we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask us a king."

20 ശമൂവേൽ ജനത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: ഭയപ്പെടായ്‌വിൻ; നിങ്ങൾ ഈ ദോഷമൊക്കെയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും യഹോവയെ വിട്ടുമാറാതെ പൂൎണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടെ യഹോവയെ സേവിപ്പിൻ.

Samuel said to the people, "Do not be afraid. You have indeed done all this evil; yet do not turn aside from following YHWH, but serve YHWH with all your heart.

21 വിട്ടുമാറി, ഉപകാരമില്ലാത്തവയും രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ കഴിയാത്തവയുമായ മിത്ഥ്യാമൂൎത്തികളോടു നിങ്ങൾ ചേരരുതു; അവ മിത്ഥ്യാവസ്തു തന്നേയല്ലോ.

Do not turn aside to go after vain things which can't profit nor deliver, for they are vain.

22 യഹോവ തന്റെ മഹത്തായ നാമംനിമിത്തം തന്റെ ജനത്തെ കൈവിടുകയില്ല; നിങ്ങളെ തന്റെ ജനമാക്കിക്കൊൾവാൻ യഹോവെക്കു ഇഷ്ടം തോന്നിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

For YHWH will not forsake his people for his great name's sake, because it has pleased YHWH to make you a people to himself.

23 ഞാനോ നിങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രാൎത്ഥിക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്‌വാൻ ഇടവരരുതേ; ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു നല്ലതും ചൊവ്വുള്ളതുമായ വഴി ഉപദേശിക്കും.

Moreover as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against YHWH in ceasing to pray for you: but I will instruct you in the good and the right way.

24 യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു പൂൎണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടും പരമാൎത്ഥതയോടുംകൂടെ സേവിക്കമാത്രം ചെയ്‌വിൻ; അവൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു എത്ര വലിയ കാൎയ്യം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഓൎത്തുകൊൾവിൻ.

Only fear YHWH, and serve him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things he has done for you.

25 എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ ഇനിയും ദോഷം ചെയ്താൽ നിങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവും നശിച്ചുപോകും.

But if you shall still do wickedly, you shall be swept away, both you and your king."
