1 രാജാക്കന്മാർ 1

1 ദാവീദ് രാജാവു വയസ്സുചെന്നു വൃദ്ധനായപ്പോൾ അവനെ കമ്പിളി പുതപ്പിച്ചിട്ടും കുളിർ മാറിയില്ല.

Now, King David, was old, advanced in days, —and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat.

2 ആകയാൽ അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ അവനോടു: യജമാനനായ രാജാവിന്നുവേണ്ടി കന്യകയായൊരു യുവതിയെ അന്വേഷിക്കട്ടെ; അവൾ രാജസന്നിധിയിൽ ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചുനില്ക്കയും യജമാനനായ രാജാവിന്റെ കുളിർ മാറേണ്ടതിന്നു തിരുമാൎവ്വിൽ കിടക്കയും ചെയ്യട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Wherefore his servants said unto him—Let there be sought for my lord the king, a young woman—a virgin, so shall she stand before the king, that she may become his companion, —and she shall lie in thy bosom, and my lord the king shall get, heat.

3 അങ്ങനെ അവർ സൌന്ദൎയ്യമുള്ള ഒരു യുവതിയെ യിസ്രായേൽദേശത്തെല്ലാടവും അന്വേഷിച്ചു ശൂനേംകാരത്തിയായ അബീശഗിനെ കണ്ടു രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

So they sought a fair young woman, throughout all the bounds of Israel, —and found Abishag, the Shunammite, and brought her in, unto the king.

4 ആ യുവതി അതിസുന്ദരിയായിരുന്നു; അവൾ രാജാവിന്നു പരിചാരകിയായി ശുശ്രൂഷചെയ്തു; എന്നാൽ രാജാവു അവളെ പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചില്ല.

Now, the young woman, was exceeding fair, —so she became unto the king a companion, and ministered unto him, but, the king, knew her not.

5 അനന്തരം ഹഗ്ഗീത്തിന്റെ മകനായ അദോനീയാവു നിഗളിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു: ഞാൻ രാജാവാകുമെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു രഥങ്ങളെയും കുതിരച്ചേവകരെയും തനിക്കു മുമ്പായി ഓടുവാൻ അമ്പതു അകമ്പടികളെയും സമ്പാദിച്ചു.

And, Adonijah son of Haggith, exalted himself, saying—I, will be king. Therefore prepared he for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.

6 അവന്റെ അപ്പൻ അവനെ മുഷിപ്പിക്കരുതെന്നുവെച്ചു അവന്റെ ജീവകാലത്തൊരിക്കലും: നീ ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തതു എന്തു എന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല; അവനും ബഹുസുന്ദരനായിരുന്നു. അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെശേഷം ആയിരുന്നു അവൻ ജനിച്ചതു.

Now his father had not displeased him all his days, by saying—Why, thus, hast thou done? Moreover also, he, was of exceeding handsome appearance, and, him, did his mother bear, after Absolom.

7 അവൻ സെരൂയയുടെ മകനായ യോവാബിനോടും പുരോഹിതനായ അബ്യാഥാരിനോടും ആലോചിച്ചുവന്നു; ഇവർ അദോനീയാവിന്നു പിന്തുണയായിരുന്നു.

So then he had speech with Joab, son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest, —and they gave help, following Adonijah.

8 എന്നാൽ പുരോഹിതനായ സാദോക്കും യഹോയാദയുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവും പ്രവാചകനായ നാഥാനും ശിമെയിയും രേയിയും ദാവീദിന്റെ വീരന്മാരും അദോനീയാവിന്റെ പക്ഷം ചേൎന്നിരുന്നില്ല.

But, Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.

9 അദോനീയാവു ഏൻ-രോഗേലിന്നു സമീപത്തു സോഹേലെത്ത് എന്ന കല്ലിന്നരികെവെച്ചു ആടുമാടുകളെയും തടിപ്പിച്ച മൃഗങ്ങളെയും അറുത്തു രാജകുമാരന്മാരായ തന്റെ സകലസഹോദരന്മാരെയും രാജഭൃത്യന്മാരായ യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാരെയൊക്കെയും ക്ഷണിച്ചു.

And Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and heifers, near the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En-rogel, —and invited all his brethren, sons of the king, and all the men of Judah, servants of the king;

10 എങ്കിലും നാഥാൻപ്രവാചകനെയും ബെനായാവെയും വീരന്മാരെയും തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ശലോമോനെയും അവൻ ക്ഷണിച്ചില്ല.

but, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he invited not.

11 എന്നാൽ നാഥാൻ ശലോമോന്റെ അമ്മയായ ബത്ത്-ശേബയോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: ഹഗ്ഗീത്തിന്റെ മകനായ അദോനീയാവു രാജാവായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നീ കേട്ടില്ലയോ? നമ്മുടെ യജമാനനായ ദാവീദ് അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടുമില്ല.

Then spake Nathan unto Bath-sheba mother of Solomon, saying—Hast thou not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith hath become king, and, our lord David, knoweth it not?

12 ആകയാൽ വരിക; നിന്റെ ജീവനെയും നിന്റെ മകനായ ശലോമോന്റെ ജീവനെയും രക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ നിനക്കു ആലോചന പറഞ്ഞുതരാം.

Now, therefore, come; let me give thee counsel, I pray thee, —so shalt thou rescue thine own life, and the life of thy son, Solomon.

13 നീ ദാവീദ് രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു: യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, നിന്റെ മകനായ ശലോമോൻ എന്റെ അനന്തരവനായി വാണു എന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കും എന്നു നീ അടിയനോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തില്ലയോ? പിന്നെ അദോനീയാവു വാഴുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിക്ക.

Go, and get thee in unto King David, and thou shalt say unto him—Didst not, thou thyself, my lord O king, swear unto thy handmaid, saying—Solomon thy son, shall become king after me, yea, he, shall sit upon my throne? Why, then, hath, Adonijah, become king?

14 നീ അവിടെ രാജാവിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ, ഞാനും നിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വന്നു നിന്റെ വാക്കു ഉറപ്പിച്ചുകൊള്ളാം.

Lo! while thou art yet speaking there with the king, I also, will come in after thee, and confirm thy words.

15 അങ്ങനെ ബത്ത്-ശേബ പള്ളിയറയിൽ രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു; രാജാവു വയോധികനായിരുന്നു; ശൂനേംകാരത്തിയായ അബീശഗ് രാജാവിന്നു ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

So Bath-sheba went in unto the king, into the chamber, now, the king, was very old, —and Abishag the Shunammite, was ministering unto the king.

16 ബത്ത്-ശേബ കുനിഞ്ഞു രാജാവിനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു. നിനക്കു എന്തു വേണം എന്നു രാജാവു ചോദിച്ചു.

And Bath-sheba bowed, and did homage unto the king, —and the king said—What aileth thee?

17 അവൾ അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: എന്റെ യജമാനനേ, നിന്റെ മകൻ ശലോമോൻ എന്റെ അനന്തരവനായി വാണു എന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കും എന്നു നീ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ അടിയനോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ.

And she said unto him—My lord, thou thyself, didst swear by Yahweh thy God, unto thy handmaid, Assuredly, Solomon thy son, shall become king after me, —yea, he, shall sit upon my throne.

18 ഇപ്പോൾ ഇതാ, അദോനീയാവു രാജാവായിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവു അറിയുന്നതുമില്ല.

But, now, lo! Adonijah, hath become king; now, therefore, my lord, O king, thou knowest it not:

19 അവൻ അനവധി കാളകളെയും തടിപ്പിച്ച മൃഗങ്ങളെയും ആടുകളെയും അറുത്തു, രാജകുമാരന്മാരെയൊക്കെയും പുരോഹിതനായ അബ്യാഥാരിനെയും സേനാധിപതിയായ യോവാബിനെയും ക്ഷണിച്ചു. എങ്കിലും നിന്റെ ദാസനായ ശലോമോനെ അവൻ ക്ഷണിച്ചില്ല.

and he hath sacrificed oxen and heifers and sheep, in abundance, and hath invited all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab general of the army, —but, Solomon thy servant, hath he not invited.

20 യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, യജമാനനായ രാജാവിന്റെ അനന്തരവനായി സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതു ആരെന്നു നീ അറിയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിന്റെയും കണ്ണു നിന്നെ നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

Thou, therefore, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel, are upon thee, —to tell them, who shall sit upon the throne of my lord the king, after him.

21 അല്ലാഞ്ഞാൽ, യജമാനനായ രാജാവു തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചശേഷം, ഞാനും എന്റെ മകൻ ശലോമോനും കുറ്റക്കാരായിരിക്കും.

Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, then shall I and my son Solomon be counted, offenders.

22 അവൾ രാജാവിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഇതാ, നാഥാൻ പ്രവാചകൻ വരുന്നു.

And lo! while yet she was speaking with the king, Nathan the prophet, came in.

23 നാഥാൻ പ്രവാചകൻ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു രാജാവിനോടു അറിയിച്ചു. അവൻ രാജസന്നിധിയിൽ ചെന്നു രാജാവിനെ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

So they told the king, saying, Lo! Nathan the prophet! And, when he had come in before the king, he bowed himself down to the king with his face to the ground.

24 നാഥാൻ പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ: യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, അദോനീയാവു എന്റെ അനന്തരവനായി വാണു എന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കും എന്നു നീ കല്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

Then said Nathan—My lord, O king, hast, thou, said, Adonijah, shall become king after me, —yea, he, shall sit upon my throne?

25 അവൻ ഇന്നു ചെന്നു അനവധി കാളകളെയും തടിപ്പിച്ച മൃഗങ്ങളെയും ആടുകളെയും അറുത്തു, രാജകുമാരന്മാരെയൊക്കെയും സേനാധിപതിമാരെയും പുരോഹിതനായ അബ്യാഥാരിനെയും ക്ഷണിച്ചു. അവർ അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഭക്ഷിച്ചു പാനംചെയ്തു: അദോനീയാരാജാവേ, ജയജയ എന്നു പറയുന്നു.

For he hath gone down to-day, and hath sacrificed oxen and heifers and sheep, in abundance, and hath invited all the sons of the king, and the generals of the army, and Abiathar the priest, and, there they are—eating and drinking before him, —and they have said—Long live King Adonijah!

26 എന്നാൽ അടിയനെയും പുരോഹിതനായ സാദോക്കിനെയും യഹോയാദയുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവെയും നിന്റെ ദാസനായ ശലോമോനെയും അവൻ ക്ഷണിച്ചില്ല.

But, me, even me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Solomon thy servant, hath he not invited.

27 യജമാനനായ രാജാവിന്റെ അനന്തരവനായി സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതു ആരെന്നു അടിയങ്ങളെ നീ അറിയിക്കാതെ ഇരിക്കെ ഈ കാൎയ്യം യജമാനനായ രാജാവിന്റെ കല്പനയാലോ നടന്നതു?

If, of my lord the king, this thing had been brought to pass, then wouldest thou not have made known unto thy servant, who should sit upon the throne of my lord the king, after him?

28 ബത്ത്-ശേബയെ വിളിപ്പിൻ എന്നു ദാവീദ് രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചു. അവൾ രാജസന്നിധിയിൽ ചെന്നു രാജാവിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നിന്നു.

Then responded King David, and said, Call me Bath-sheba. So she came in before the king, and stood before the king.

29 എന്നാറെ രാജാവു: എന്റെ ജീവനെ സകലകഷ്ടത്തിൽനിന്നും വീണ്ടെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയാണ,

And the king sware, and said, —By the life of Yahweh, who hath redeemed my life out of every strait,

30 നിന്റെ മകനായ ശലോമോൻ എന്റെ അനന്തരവനായി വാണു എനിക്കു പകരം എന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കും എന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ സത്യംചെയ്തതുപോലെ തന്നേ ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിവൎത്തിക്കും എന്നു സത്യംചെയ്തു പറഞ്ഞു.

even as I sware unto thee by Yahweh, God of Israel, saying, Assuredly, Solomon thy son, shall become king after me, yea, he, shall sit upon my throne, in my stead, even so, will I do this day.

31 അപ്പോൾ ബത്ത്-ശേബ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു രാജാവിനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു: എന്റെ യജമാനനായ ദാവീദ് രാജാവു ദീൎഘായുസ്സായിരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then Bath-sheba bowed with her face to the ground, and did homage unto the king, —and said—Let my lord, King David, live to times age-abiding!

32 പിന്നെ ദാവീദ്: പുരോഹിതനായ സാദോക്കിനെയും പ്രവാചകനായ നാഥാനെയും യഹോയാദയുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവെയും വിളിപ്പിൻ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അവർ രാജസന്നിധിയിൽ ചെന്നുനിന്നു.

Then said King David—Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada. And they came in before the king.

33 രാജാവു അവരോടു കല്പിച്ചതെന്തെന്നാൽ: നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു എന്റെ മകനായ ശാലോമോനെ എന്റെ കോവർകഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറ്റി താഴെ ഗീഹോനിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകുവിൻ.

Then said the king unto them—Take ye with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon the mule which pertaineth unto myself, —and bring him down unto Gihon;

34 അവിടെവെച്ചു സാദോക്പുരോഹിതനും നാഥാൻപ്രവാചകനും അവനെ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്യേണം; പിന്നെ കാഹളം ഊതി: ശലമോൻരാജാവേ, ജയജയ എന്നു ഘോഷിച്ചുപറവിൻ.

then shall Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there as king over Israel, —and ye shall blow with the horn, and say—Long live King Solomon!

35 അതിന്റെശേഷം നിങ്ങൾ അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരുവിൻ; അവൻ വന്നു എന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരുന്നു എനിക്കു പകരം വാഴേണം; യിസ്രായേലിന്നും യെഹൂദെക്കും പ്രഭുവായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ അവനെ നിയമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

Then shall ye come up after him, and he shall enter, and sit upon my throne, yea, he, shall become king in my stead; even, him, have I charged to become leader, over Israel, and over Judah.

36 അപ്പോൾ യെഹോയാദയുടെ മകൻ ബെനായാവു രാജാവിനോടു: ആമേൻ; യജമാനനായ രാജാവിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയും അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ കല്പിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.

Then did Benaiah son of Jehoiada make response unto the king, and say—Amen! so, say Yahweh, God of my lord the king.

37 യഹോവ യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നതുപോലെ ശലോമോനോടുംകൂടെ ഇരിക്കയും യജമാനനായ ദാവീദ് രാജാവിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തെക്കാളും അവന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തെ ശ്രേഷ്ഠമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

As Yahweh hath been with my lord the king, so, let him he with Solomon, —and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord, King David.

38 അങ്ങനെ സാദോക്പുരോഹിതനും നാഥാൻപ്രവാചകനും യെഹോയാദയുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവും ക്രേത്യരും പ്ലേത്യരും ചെന്നു ദാവീദ്‌രാജാവിന്റെ കോവർകഴുതപ്പുറത്തു ശലോമോനെ കയറ്റി ഗീഹോനിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി,

So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, with the Cherethites and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon the mule of King David, —and they escorted him to Gihon.

39 സാദോക്പുരോഹിതൻ തൃക്കൂടാരത്തിൽനിന്നു തൈലക്കൊമ്പു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു ശലോമോനെ അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തു. അവർ കാഹളം ഊതി, ജനമൊക്കെയും ശലോമോൻരാജാവേ, ജയജയ എന്നു ഘോഷിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.

Then took Zadok the priest, the horn of oil out of the Tent, and anointed Solomon, —and they blew with a [ram’s] horn, and all the people said, Long live King Solomon!

40 പിന്നെ ജനമൊക്കയും അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു; ജനം കുഴലൂതി; അവരുടെ ഘോഷംകൊണ്ടു ഭൂമികുലുങ്ങുമാറു അത്യന്തം സന്തോഷിച്ചു.

And all the people came up after him, the people themselves also, playing with flutes, and rejoicing with great joy, —so that the earth rent with the sound of them.

41 അദോനീയാവും കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന സകല വിരുന്നുകാരും ഭക്ഷണം കഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അതു കേട്ടു. കാഹളനാദം കേട്ടപ്പോൾ യോവാബ്: പട്ടണം കലങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ ആരവം എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

And Adonijah, and all the guests who were with him, heard it, just as, they, had made an end of eating, —and, when Joab heard the sound of a horn, he said—Wherefore the noise of the city, in tumult?

42 അവൻ പറയുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ ഇതാ, പുരോഹിതനായ അബ്യാഥാരിന്റെ മകൻ യോനാഥാൻ വരുന്നു; അദോനീയാവു അവനോടു: അകത്തുവരിക; നീ യോഗ്യപുരുഷൻ; നീ നല്ലവൎത്തമാനം കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

While yet he was speaking, lo! Jonathan son of Abiathar the priest, came in, —and Adonijah said—Come in, for, a worthy man, thou art, and, good tidings, dost thou bring.

43 യോനാഥാൻ അദോനീയാവോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതു: നമ്മുടെ യജമാനനായ ദാവീദ് രാജാവു ശലോമോനെ രാജാവാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

But Jonathan responded and said to Adonijah, —Of a truth, our lord, King David, hath made, Solomon, king.

44 രാജാവു സാദോക്പുരോഹിതനെയും നാഥാൻപ്രവാചകനെയും യെഹോയാദയുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവെയും ക്രേത്യരെയും പ്ലേത്യരെയും അവനോടുകൂടെ അയച്ചു. അവർ അവനെ രാജാവിന്റെ കോവർകഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറ്റി.

And the king hath sent with him—Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, with the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, —and they have caused him to ride upon the mule of the king;

45 സാദോക്പുരോഹിതനും നാഥാൻപ്രവാചകനും അവനെ ഗീഹോനിൽവെച്ചു രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തു. അവർ പട്ടണം മുഴങ്ങുംവണ്ണം സന്തോഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു അവിടെനിന്നു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി. ഇതാകുന്നു നിങ്ങൾ കേട്ട ഘോഷം.

and Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king, in Gihon, and they went up from thence rejoicing, so that the city rang again, —That, is the noise ye have heard.

46 അത്രയുമല്ല ശലോമോൻ രാജസിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു;

Moreover also, Solomon hath taken his seat upon the throne of the kingdom.

47 രാജഭൃത്യന്മാരും നമ്മുടെ യജമാനനായ ദാവീദ് രാജാവിനെ അഭിവന്ദനം ചെയ്‌വാൻ ചെന്നു; നിന്റെ ദൈവം ശലോമോന്റെ നാമത്തെ നിന്റെ നാമത്തെക്കാൾ ഉൽകൃഷ്ടവും അവന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തെ നിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തെക്കാൾ ശ്രേഷ്ഠവും ആക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Moreover also, the servants of the king have been in, to bless our lord King David, saying—Thy God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne, —And the king bowed himself upon his bed.

48 രാജാവു തന്റെ കട്ടിലിന്മേൽ നമസ്കരിച്ചു: ഇന്നു എന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ എന്റെ സന്തതി ഇരിക്കുന്നതു എന്റെ കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു കാണ്മാൻ സംഗതി വരുത്തിയ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ സ്തുതിക്കപ്പെടുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Moreover also, thus and thus, hath said the king, —Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, who hath given, to-day, one to sit upon my throne, mine own eyes also beholding it.

49 ഉടനെ അദോനീയാവിന്റെ വിരുന്നുകാർ ഒക്കെയും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ വഴിക്കു പോയി.

Then trembled and rose up, all Adonijah’s guests, —and departed, every man his own way.

50 അദോനീയാവും ശലോമോനെ പേടിച്ചു ചെന്നു യാഗപീഠത്തിന്റെ കൊമ്പുകളെ പിടിച്ചു.

Adonijah also, feared because of Solomon, —and rose and went, and caught hold of the horns of the altar.

51 അദോനീയാവു ശലോമോൻരാജാവിനെ പേടിക്കുന്നു; ശലോമോൻരാജാവു അടിയനെ വാൾകൊണ്ടു കൊല്ലുകയില്ല എന്നു ഇന്നു എന്നോടു സത്യം ചെയ്യട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്റെ കൊമ്പുകളെ പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ശലോമോൻ വൎത്തമാനം കേട്ടു.

And it was told Solomon, saying, Lo! Adonijah, feareth King Solomon, —lo! therefore, he hath laid hold of the horns of the altar, saying, Let King Solomon swear unto me at once that he will not put his servant to death with the sword.

52 അവൻ യോഗ്യനായിരുന്നാൽ അവന്റെ തലയിലെ ഒരു രോമവും നിലത്തു വീഴുകയില്ല; അവനിൽ കുറ്റം കണ്ടാലോ അവൻ മരിക്കേണം എന്നു ശലോമോൻ കല്പിച്ചു.

Then said Solomon, If he will be a man of worth, there shall not one hair of him fall to the earth, —but, if mischief be found in him, then shall he die.

53 അങ്ങനെ ശലോമോൻരാജാവു ആളയച്ചു; അവർ അവനെ യാഗപീഠത്തിങ്കൽനിന്നു ഇറക്കി കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. അവൻ വന്നു ശലോമോൻരാജാവിനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു. ശലോമോൻ അവനോടു: നിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ പൊയ്ക്കൊൾക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

So King Solomon sent, and brought him down from the altar, and he came in, and bowed himself down to King Solomon, —and Solomon said unto him—Go to thine own house.
