< Hosea 12 >

1 Mandrazan-tioke t’i Efraime, mañeañe tiok’atiñanañe; ampitoabore’e vande naho joy lomoñandro, mbore milahatse amy Asore, mbore mañondrañe menake amy Mitsraime.
Ephraim herds the wind and hunts the sirocco. All day long they heap up falsehood and fraud, make a treaty with Assyria, and sends tribute of olive oil to Egypt.
2 Manan-kabò am’ Iehodà ka t’Iehovà, o sata’eo ro hitiliha’ Iakobe; o fitoloña’eo ro hañondroha’e aze.
The Lord has a charge to bring against Israel, to punish Jacob for his acts, according to his deeds will he requite him,
3 Rinambe’e an-tomi’e an-koviñe ao i zoke’ey, le nifanehak’ aman’ Añahare an-kaozara’e;
In the womb he supplanted his brother, in manhood he wrestled with God,
4 Eka nigore’e i anjeliy vaho nahatañe; nirovetse re naho nitoreova’e; i nioni’e e Betele añey, le ao ty nitsara’e aman-tika.
He wrestled with the angel and prevailed, he wept and sought his blessing. At Bethel the Lord found him, and there he spoke with us.
5 Eka, Iehovà, Andrianañahare’ i màroy; Iehovà ty tahina’e.
And the Lord is the God of hosts, the Lord is his name!
6 Aa le mimpolia mb’aman’Añahare’o; tambozoro ty fatarihañe naho ty hatò, vaho itamao nainai’e t’i Andrianañahare’o.
So now, by the help of your God, return. Keep true love and justice. Trust in your God without ceasing.
7 I mpampibalibalikey, balantsim-pamañahiañe ty am-pità’e ao; tea’e ty mikatramo.
A merchant uses false scales: They love to defraud.
8 Hoe t’i Efraime, Toe fa mpañaleale raho, nahatrea vara maro; tsy eo ty haharendreke tahiñe amako, ndra hakeo amo fitoloñakoo.
Ephraim says, ‘Yes, I have become rich, I have secured wealth for myself. But despite my gains no one will find a crime I can be convicted of!’
9 Zaho Iehovà Andrianañahare’o boak’ an-tane’ i Mitsraime añe; mbe hampimoneñeko an-kibohotse rehe manahak’ amo andro namantañañeo.
I am the Lord your God, ever since the land of Egypt. I will make you again dwell in tents, as in days of old.
10 Nisaontsieko o mpitokio, nampitomboeko aroñaroñe, vaho nandrazañe am-pitàm-pitoky.
I spoke continually by the prophets. It was I who multiplied visions, and spoke in parables through the prophets.
11 Aman-tahiñe hao t’i Gilade? toe hakoahañe, ie nañenga bania e Gilgale ao; eka, votrim-bato am-bavahali’ o hatsakeo o kitreli’eo.
In Gilead is iniquity, they will come to nothing. In Gilgal they sacrifice bulls, so their altars will be as stone heaps, among the furrows of the field.
12 F’ie nilay mb’an-tete’ i Arame añe t’Iakobe, nitoroñe ho a i tañamjomba’ey, eka nimpiarake ty amy vali’ey.
And Jacob fled to the territory of Aram, and Israel worked to earn a wife: for a wife he herded sheep.
13 Mpitoky ty nañendesa’ Iehovà t’Israele boake Mitsraime ao, vaho mpitoky ty nañarovañ’ aze;
The Lord brought Israel up from Egypt by a prophet, and by a prophet Israel was guarded.
14 nikai-jaka añ’afero t’i Efraime; aa le hapoke ama’e ty lio’e; vaho hondrohe’ i Talè’e ama’e ty inje’e.
Ephraim has given bitter provocation. His Lord will leave upon him his guilt of bloodshed, and for his contempt he will repay him.
