< Psalmorum 64 >

1 Psalmus David, in finem. Exaudi Deus orationem meam cum deprecor: a timore inimici eripe animam meam.
For the chief musician. A psalm of David. Hear my voice, God, listen to my complaint; preserve my life from fear of my enemies.
2 Protexisti me a conventu malignantium: a multitudine operantium iniquitatem.
Hide me from the secret plotting of evildoers, from the commotion of the doers of iniquity.
3 Quia exacuerunt ut gladium linguas suas: intenderunt arcum rem amaram,
They have sharpened their tongues like swords; they have aimed their arrows, bitter words,
4 ut sagittent in occultis immaculatum.
so that they may shoot from secret places at someone who is innocent; suddenly they shoot at him and fear nothing.
5 Subito sagittabunt eum, et non timebunt: firmaverunt sibi sermonem nequam. Narraverunt ut absconderent laqueos: dixerunt: Quis videbit eos?
They encourage themselves in an evil plan; they consult privately together in order to set traps; they say, “Who will see us?”
6 Scrutati sunt iniquitates: defecerunt scrutantes scrutinio. Accedet homo ad cor altum:
They invent sinful plans; “We have finished,” they say, “a careful plan.” The inner thoughts and hearts of man are deep.
7 et exaltabitur Deus. Sagittae parvulorum factae sunt plagae eorum:
But God will shoot them; suddenly they will be wounded with his arrows.
8 et infirmatae sunt contra eos linguae eorum. Conturbati sunt omnes qui videbant eos:
They will be made to stumble, since their own tongues are against them; all who see them will wag their heads.
9 et timuit omnis homo. Et annunciaverunt opera Dei: et facta eius intellexerunt.
All people will fear and will declare God's deeds. They will wisely think about what he has done.
10 Laetabitur iustus in Domino, et sperabit in eo, et laudabuntur omnes recti corde.
The righteous will be glad about Yahweh and will take refuge in him; all the upright in heart will take pride in him.
