< Psalmorum 118 >

1 Alleluia. Confitemini Domino quoniam bonus: quoniam in saeculum misericordia eius.
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.
2 Dicat nunc Israel quoniam bonus: quoniam in saeculum misericordia eius.
Let Israel now say that his loving kindness endures forever.
3 Dicat nunc domus Aaron: quoniam in saeculum misericordia eius.
Let the house of Aaron now say that his loving kindness endures forever.
Now let those who fear the LORD say that his loving kindness endures forever.
5 De tribulatione invocavi Dominum: et exaudivit me in latitudine Dominus.
Out of my distress, I called on the LORD. The LORD answered me with freedom.
6 Dominus mihi adiutor: non timebo quid faciat mihi homo.
The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can humans do to me?
7 Dominus mihi adiutor: et ego despiciam inimicos meos.
The LORD is my helper; and I will look in triumph on those who hate me.
It is better to take refuge in the LORD, than to put confidence in man.
It is better to take refuge in the LORD, than to put confidence in princes.
10 Omnes gentes circuierunt me: et in nomine Domini quia ultus sum in eos.
All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the LORD, I cut them off.
11 Circumdantes circumdederunt me: et in nomine Domini quia ultus sum in eos.
They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me. In the name of the LORD I indeed cut them off.
12 Circumdederunt me sicut apes, et exarserunt sicut ignis in spinis: et in nomine Domini quia ultus sum in eos.
They surrounded me like bees. They blazed like a fire among thorns. In the name of the LORD I cut them off.
13 Impulsus eversus sum ut caderem: et Dominus suscepit me.
I was pushed hard, to make me fall, but the LORD helped me.
The LORD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.
15 Vox exultationis, et salutis in tabernaculis iustorum.
The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous. "The right hand of the LORD does valiantly.
16 Dextera Domini fecit virtutem: dextera Domini exaltavit me, dextera Domini fecit virtutem.
The right hand of the LORD is exalted. The right hand of the LORD does valiantly."
I will not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.
18 Castigans castigavit me Dominus: et morti non tradidit me.
The LORD has punished me severely, but he has not given me over to death.
19 Aperite mihi portas iustitiae, ingressus in eas confitebor Domino:
Open to me the gates of righteousness. I will enter into them and praise the LORD.
20 haec porta Domini, iusti intrabunt in eam.
This is the gate of the LORD; the righteous will enter into it.
21 Confitebor tibi quoniam exaudisti me: et factus es mihi in salutem.
I will give thanks to you, for you have answered me, and have become my salvation.
22 Lapidem, quem reprobaverunt aedificantes: hic factus est in caput anguli.
The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
This is the LORD's doing. It is marvelous in our eyes.
This is the day that the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.
25 O Domine salvum me fac, o Domine bene prosperare:
Save us now, we beg you, LORD. LORD, we beg you, send prosperity now.
26 benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini. Benediximus vobis de domo Domini:
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD. We have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.
27 Deus Dominus, et illuxit nobis. Constituite diem sollemnem in condensis, usque ad cornu altaris.
The LORD is God, and he has given us light. Bind the sacrifice with cords, even to the horns of the altar.
28 Deus meus es tu, et confitebor tibi: Deus meus es tu, et exaltabo te. Confitebor tibi quoniam exaudisti me: et factus es mihi in salutem.
You are my God, and I will give thanks to you. You are my God, I will exalt you.
29 Confitemini Domino quoniam bonus: quoniam in saeculum misericordia eius.
Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.
