< Psalmorum 132 >

1 Canticum graduum. Memento Domine David, et omnis mansuetudinis eius:
A Song of Ascents. LORD, remember David and all his affliction,
2 Sicut iuravit Domino, votum vovit Deo Iacob:
how he swore to the LORD, and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3 Si introiero in tabernaculum domus meæ, si ascendero in lectum strati mei:
“Surely I will not come into the structure of my house, nor go up into my bed;
4 Si dedero somnum oculis meis, et palpebris meis dormitationem:
I will not give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids,
5 Et requiem temporibus meis: donec inveniam locum Domino, tabernaculum Deo Iacob.
until I find out a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
6 Ecce audivimus eam in Ephrata: invenimus eam in campis silvæ.
Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah. We found it in the field of Jaar.
7 Introibimus in tabernaculum eius: adorabimus in loco, ubi steterunt pedes eius.
“We will go into his dwelling place. We will worship at his footstool.”
8 Surge Domine in requiem tuam, tu et arca sanctificationis tuæ.
Arise, LORD, into your resting place, you, and the ark of your strength.
9 Sacerdotes tui induantur iustitiam: et sancti tui exultent.
Let your priests be clothed with righteousness. Let your holy ones shout for joy!
10 Propter David servum tuum, non avertas faciem Christi tui.
For your servant David’s sake, don’t turn away the face of your anointed one.
11 Iuravit Dominus David veritatem, et non frustrabitur eam: de fructu ventris tui ponam super sedem tuam.
The LORD has sworn to David in truth. He will not turn from it: “I will set the fruit of your body on your throne.
12 Si custodierint filii tui testamentum meum, et testimonia mea hæc, quæ docebo eos: Et filii eorum usque in sæculum, sedebunt super sedem tuam.
If your children will keep my covenant, my testimony that I will teach them, their children also will sit on your throne forever more.”
13 Quoniam elegit Dominus Sion: elegit eam in habitationem sibi.
For the LORD has chosen Zion. He has desired it for his habitation.
14 Hæc requies mea in sæculum sæculi: hic habitabo, quoniam elegi eam.
“This is my resting place forever. I will live here, for I have desired it.
15 Viduam eius benedicens benedicam: pauperes eius saturabo panibus.
I will abundantly bless her provision. I will satisfy her poor with bread.
16 Sacerdotes eius induam salutari: et sancti eius exultatione exultabunt.
I will also clothe her priests with salvation. Her holy ones will shout aloud for joy.
17 Illuc producam cornu David, paravi lucernam Christo meo.
I will make the horn of David to bud there. I have ordained a lamp for my anointed.
18 Inimicos eius induam confusione: super ipsum autem efflorebit sanctificatio mea.
I will clothe his enemies with shame, but on himself, his crown will shine.”
