< Soakas 14 >

1 Ke lalmwetmet, sie mutan el musaeak sou se, a lalfon uh ku in kunausya.
Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.
2 Kutena mwet su moulkin moul suwohs, elos akkalemye lah elos akfulatye LEUM GOD; elos su tia moul suwohs elos akkalemye lah elos pilesral.
He who walks in his uprightness fears the LORD, but he who is perverse in his ways despises him.
3 Inse fulat lun sie mwet lalfon oru el kaskas pusla; a kas lun sie mwet lalmwetmet karinganul sifacna.
The fool’s talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.
4 Fin wangin ox in amakin plao uh, ac wangin koanon nien fil mongo sum. A fin oasr, na nien fil mongo sum ac sessesla ke wheat.
Where no oxen are, the crib is clean, but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
5 Sie mwet loh oaru el fahkak ma pwaye pacl nukewa, a sie mwet loh soaru el kikiap pacl nukewa.
A truthful witness will not lie, but a false witness pours out lies.
6 Sie mwet inse fulat el tia ku in sun lalmwetmet, a mwet oasr etauk la, fisrasr elos in eis mwe lutlut.
A scoffer seeks wisdom, and doesn’t find it, but knowledge comes easily to a discerning person.
7 Nimet apkuran nu yurin mwet lalfon. Wangin ma elos ac ku in luti kom.
Stay away from a foolish man, for you won’t find knowledge on his lips.
8 Efu ku mwet lalkung uh lalmwetmet? Mweyen el etu ma elan oru. Efu ku mwet sulalkung uh lalfon? Mweyen el nunku mu el etu ma nukewa.
The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.
9 Wangin fosrnga lun mwet lalfon ke elos orala ma koluk, a mwet wo elos suk in oasr nunak munas nu selos.
Fools mock at making atonement for sins, but amongst the upright there is good will.
10 Wangin mwet ku in etu na pwaye lah fuka engan lom ku asor lom. Kom mukena pa etu. Wangin mwet ku in wi kom kac.
The heart knows its own bitterness and joy; he will not share these with a stranger.
11 Lohm sin sie mwet wo ac tu na tukun kunausyukla lohm sin sie mwet koluk.
The house of the wicked will be overthrown, but the tent of the upright will flourish.
12 Sahp inkanek soko ma kom pangon mu suwohs uh, ac ku in kolkomla nu ke misa.
There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
13 Israsr uh ku in okanla inse asor. Pacl engan uh wanginla, asor sac srakna oasr.
Even in laughter the heart may be sorrowful, and mirth may end in heaviness.
14 Mwet koluk uh fah eis ma fal nu ke ma elos oru. Mwet wo uh fah eis lacnen orekma wo lalos.
The unfaithful will be repaid for his own ways; likewise a good man will be rewarded for his ways.
15 Sie mwet lalfon el lulalfongi ma nukewa; a mwet lalkung elos taranna yen elos fahsr nu we.
A simple man believes everything, but the prudent man carefully considers his ways.
16 Mwet etauk elos karinganang in tia sun mwe lokoalok, a mwet lalfon uh nikin sensen, ac sa na in mukuila.
A wise man fears and shuns evil, but the fool is hot headed and reckless.
17 Mwet mongsa uh oru ma lalfon; ac mwet kinauk inkanek kutasrik ac fah srungayuk.
He who is quick to become angry will commit folly, and a crafty man is hated.
18 Mwet nikin ac eis fokin lalfon lalos, a mwet lalkung ac usrui etauk.
The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19 Mwet koluk ac fah epasr ye mutun mwet suwoswos ac pusisel in siyuk kasru selos.
The evil bow down before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20 Wangin mwet lungse orek kawuk nu sin sie mwet sukasrup, finne mwet tulan lal; a sie mwet kasrup, oasr mwet kawuk puspis lal.
The poor person is shunned even by his own neighbour, but the rich person has many friends.
21 Kom fin lungse kom in engan, na kom in kulang nu sin mwet sukasrup; sie ma koluk pa in pilesru kutena mwet.
He who despises his neighbour sins, but he who has pity on the poor is blessed.
22 Kom fin oru sie orekma wo, mwet uh ac lulalfongi kom ac sunakin kom, a kom fin wi oru orekma koluk, kom fahsr ke sie inkanek tafongla.
Don’t they go astray who plot evil? But love and faithfulness belong to those who plan good.
23 Orekma, na kom fah eis woiya. Kom fin mutana sramsarm, kom ac sukasrup.
In all hard work there is profit, but the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.
24 Mwet lalmwetmet uh eis mwe kasrup; a mwet lalfon eteyuk ke lalfon lalos.
The crown of the wise is their riches, but the folly of fools crowns them with folly.
25 Sie mwet loh su kaskas pwaye el molela moul lun sie mwet; a el fin fahk kas kikiap, el lafwekin sie mwet.
A truthful witness saves souls, but a false witness is deceitful.
26 Akfulatye LEUM GOD, fah sang lulalfongi ku ac moul misla nu sin sie mwet ac sou lal.
In the fear of the LORD is a secure fortress, and he will be a refuge for his children.
27 Ya kom lungse tuh kom in tia sa misa? Sie unon in moul pa akfulatye LEUM GOD.
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, turning people from the snares of death.
28 Fulat lun sie tokosra tuku ke pisen mwet ma el leumi. Fin wangin mwet, na el tia oaoa.
In the multitude of people is the king’s glory, but in the lack of people is the destruction of the prince.
29 Kom fin mongfisrasr, kom lalmwetmet; a kom fin mongsa, kom akkalemye lupan lalfon lom.
He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a quick temper displays folly.
30 Inse misla uh mwe akkeye mano, a sok uh oana sie mas ma akkulamye mano.
The life of the body is a heart at peace, but envy rots the bones.
31 Kom fin akkeokye mwet sukasrup, kom aklusrongtenye God su oralosla; a ke kom kulang nu sin mwet sukasrup, kom akfulatye God.
He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honours him.
32 Mwet koluk uh putatla ke sripen orekma koluk lalos, a mwet wo uh molla ke sripen moul suwohs lalos.
The wicked is brought down in his calamity, but in death, the righteous has a refuge.
33 Lalmwetmet uh oan in nunak nukewa lun sie mwet etauk. Mwet lalfon uh wangin etu la ke lalmwetmet uh.
Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, and is even made known in the inward part of fools.
34 Suwoswos ac oru sie mutunfacl in ku ac fulat. Ma koluk uh mwe akmwekinye sie mutunfacl.
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.
35 Tokosra uh elos insewowo ke mwet pwapa fulat lalos su oaru in oru ma kuna; a elos kalyaelos su tia akfalye ma kunalos.
The king’s favour is towards a servant who deals wisely, but his wrath is towards one who causes shame.
