< Matthew 8 >

1 Ke Jesus el oatui liki fineol uh, un mwet puspis fahsr tokol.
When Jesus had come down from the hill, great crowds followed him.
2 Na sie mwet musen lepa tuku nu yorol, ac sikukmutunte ye mutal ac fahk, “Leum, fin ou lungse lom, kom ku in aknasnasyeyula.”
He saw a leper who came up, and bowed to the ground before him, and said, ‘Master, if only you are willing, you are able to make me clean.’
3 Jesus el asroela paol, kahlilya ac fahk, “Nga lungse. Kom in nasnasla!” Ke kitin pacl ac na mwet sac kwela liki mas lal.
Stretching out his hand, Jesus touched him, saying as he did so, ‘I am willing; become clean.’ Instantly he was made clean from his leprosy;
4 Na Jesus el fahk nu sel, “Liyaung tuh kom in tia fahk nu sin kutena mwet, a fahla ingena ac fahkkomyak nu sin mwet tol. Sang mwe kisa ma Moses el sap in orek uh, tuh in mwe akpwayeye nu sin mwet nukewa lah kom kwela.”
and then Jesus said to him, ‘Be careful not to say a word to anyone, but go and show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift directed by Moses, as evidence of your cure.’
5 Ke Jesus el utyak nu Capernaum, sie mwet leum lun solse Rome sonol ac kwafe sel,
After Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion in the Roman army came up to him, entreating his help.
6 “Leum, mwet kulansap luk el mas na oan in lohm sik ah, tia ku in mukuikui ac el arulana keok.”
‘Sir,’ he said, ‘my manservant is lying ill at my house with a stroke of paralysis, and is suffering terribly.’
7 Ac Jesus el fahk, “Nga ac som ac akkeyalla.”
‘I will come and cure him,’ answered Jesus.
8 Na leum sac fahk, “Leum, nga arulana kupansuwol kom in tuku nu in lohm sik ah. Tari kom sap mukena, ac mwet kulansap luk el ac kwela.
‘Sir,’ the centurion went on, ‘I am unworthy to receive you under my roof; but only speak, and my manservant will be cured.

For I myself am a man under the orders of others, with soldiers under me; and, if I say to one of them “Go,” he goes, and to another “Come,” he comes, and to my slave “Do this,” he does it.’
10 Ke Jesus el lohng ma inge, el lut ac fahk nu sin mwet ma fahsr tokol uh, “Pwayena nga fahk nu suwos, nga soenna liye lupan lulalfongi ouinge in acn Israel.
Jesus was surprised to hear this, and said to those who were following him, ‘Never I tell you, in any Israelite have I met with such faith as this!
11 Nga fahk nu suwos lah mwet puspis ac fah tuku kutulap me ac roto me, ac muta yorol Abraham, Isaac ac Jacob ke pacl in kufwa in Tokosrai lun kusrao.

while the heirs to the kingdom will be banished into the darkness outside; there, there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.’

Then Jesus said to the centurion, ‘Go now, and it will be according to your faith.’ And the man was cured that very hour.
14 Jesus el som nu in lohm sel Peter, ac el liye nina kien mutan kial Peter, folla manol ac el oan fin mwe oan kial.
When Jesus went into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law prostrated with fever.
15 Jesus el kahlye paol, ac musen fol lal som lukel, na el tukakek ac mutawauk in kulansap nu sel Jesus.
On his taking her hand, the fever left her, and she rose and began to take care of him.
16 Ke ekela, mwet uh use mwet mas puspis nu yorol su oasr demon yoro. Jesus el lusak ngun koluk uh ke kas na lal, ac akkeyala mwet mas nukewa.
In the evening the people brought to Jesus many who were possessed by demons; and he drove out the spirits with a word, and cured all who were ill,
17 El oru ma inge in akpwayeye kas ma mwet palu Isaiah el tuh fahk, “El sifacna eisla munas lasr, ac usla kain in mas nukewa ma oan yorosr.”
in fulfilment of these words in the prophet Isaiah – “He took our infirmities on himself, and bore the burden of our diseases.”
18 Ke Jesus el liye un mwet puspis su raunella, el sap mwet tumal lutlut in som lefahl ngia ke lulu uh.
Seeing a crowd round him, Jesus gave orders to go across.
19 Sie mwet luti ke Ma Sap uh tuku nu yorol ac fahk, “Mwet Luti, nga akola in wi kom nu yen nukewa kom ac som nu we uh.”
A teacher of the Law came up to him, and said, ‘Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.’
20 Jesus el topuk ac fahk, “Oasr luf lun kosro fox uh, ac oasr ang lun won uh, a Wen nutin Mwet wangin acn el ku in mongla we.”
‘Foxes have holes,’ answered Jesus, ‘and wild birds their nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.’
21 Ac sie pac sin mwet tumal lutlut uh fahk, “Leum, lela ngan som meet ac pikinya papa tumuk ah.”
‘Master,’ said another, who was a disciple, ‘let me first go and bury my father.’
22 Ac Jesus el fahk, “Fahsr tukuk, ac lela mwet misa in sifacna pikinya mwet misa lalos.”
But Jesus answered, ‘Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their dead.’
23 Jesus el sroang nu fin oak soko, ac mwet tumal lutlut welul.
Then he got into the boat, followed by his disciples.
24 In kitin pahl ah na eng na upa se tuhyak in lulu uh, ac oak uh apkuranna in moti. A Jesus el motul.
Suddenly so great a storm came up on the sea, that the waves broke right over the boat. But Jesus was asleep;
25 Mwet tumal lutlut elos oaksalak ac fahk, “Leum, molikutla! Kut akuranna misa!”
and the disciples came and roused him. ‘Master,’ they cried, ‘save us; we are lost!’
26 Ac Jesus el fahk, “Efu ku komtal sangeng? Efu ku srikla fuk lulalfongi lomtal an!” Na el tukakek, ac sap ku nu sin eng uh ac noa uh, na in pacl sacna arulana mihsla.
‘Why are you so timid?’ he said. ‘You of little faith!’ Then Jesus rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and a great calm followed.
27 Elos nukewa arulana fwefela ac fahk, “Mwet na fuka se inge? Finne eng uh ac noa uh elos aksol pac!”
The men were amazed, and exclaimed, ‘What kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!’
28 Ke Jesus el tuku nu in acn apkuran nu Gadara ke lefahl laco in lulu uh, mwet luo sonol su tuku liki acn ma kulyuk uh oan we. Mwet inge oasr demon in elos, ac eltal arulana fokoko, oru wangin mwet fahsr ke inkanek soko inge.
On getting to the other side – the region of the Gadarenes – Jesus met two men who were possessed by demons, coming out of the tombs. They were so violent that no one was able to pass that way.
29 Pacl se na eltal sonol Jesus eltal wowoyak ac fahk, “Kom Wen nutin God, mea kom lungse sesr an? Ya kom tuku in kalyei kut meet liki Len in Nununku?”
Suddenly they shrieked out, ‘What do you want with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before our time?’
30 Tiana loes liki acn sac, oasr un pig na lulap se mongo we.
A long way off, there was a herd of many pigs, feeding;
31 Ouinge demon uh kwafe sin Jesus ac fahk, “Kom fin ac liskutla, supwekutla nu in un pig se ingo.”
and the foul spirits began begging Jesus, ‘If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.’
32 Na Jesus el fahk, “Fahsrot,” na elos illa ac utyak nu in pig uh. Na un pig nufon sac riryak som liki mutun fulu sac, ac atula nu inkof uh, ac walomla.
‘Go,’ he said. The spirits came out, and entered the pigs; and the whole herd rushed down the steep slope into the sea, and died in the water.
33 Mwet ma karingin pig uh kaingla som nu in siti uh ac fahkak ma nukewa ma sikyak, ac oayapa ke mwet luo ma musen demon uh.
At this the men who tended them ran away and went to the town, carrying the news of all that had occurred, and of what had happened to the possessed men.
34 Na mwet nukewa in acn sac som in sonol Jesus; ac ke elos liyel elos kwafe sel elan som liki acn selos.
At the news the whole town went out to meet Jesus, and, when they saw him, they entreated him to go away from their region.
