< Esther 2 >

1 Tok, kasrkusrak lal Tokosra Ahasuerus ne ohula, el srakna nunku ke ma Vashti el tuh oru ah, ac ke mwe fahkak se ma el tuh supwalik lainul Vashti.
After these things, when the wrath of king Ahasuerus was appeased, he remembered Vashti, and what she had done, and what was decreed against her.
2 Ouinge kutu sin mwet pwapa lun tokosra su fototo nu sel elos fahk nu sel, “Efu Tokosra ku tia sap in sukok kutu mutan fusr virgin kato?
Then said the king’s servants that ministered to him, Let there be fair young virgins sought for the king:
3 Tokosra el ku in srisrngia mwet kol in facl nukewa in tokosrai lal uh, tuh elos in usani mutan fusr oasku nukewa nu in lohm sin mutan in siti fulat Susa. Fuhlelosi inpaol Hegai, mwet eunuch se su karinganang un mutan kien tokosra, tuh elang asang mwe akmusra in aknasnas nu selos.
And let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the fair young virgins to Shushan the palace, to the house of the women, to the custody of Hege the king’s chamberlain, keeper of the women; and let their things for purification be given them:
4 Na tokosra fah eis mutan fusr se ma akinsewowoyal emeet, ac oru tuh elan kasrala in aolul Vashti.”
And let the maiden which pleases the king be queen instead of Vashti. And the thing pleased the king; and he did so.
5 Oasr sie mwet Jew su muta Susa pangpang Mordecai, wen natul Jair, su ma natul Kish su ma natul Shimei in sruf lal Benjamin.
Now in Shushan the palace there was a certain Jew, whose name was Mordecai, the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite;
Who had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captivity which had been carried away with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away.
And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle’s daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai, when her father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter.
So it came to pass, when the king’s commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together to Shushan the palace, to the custody of Hegai, that Esther was brought also to the king’s house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.
9 Hegai el arulana insewowo sel Esther, pwanang el sa na in sang mwe akmusra nu sel oayapa mwe mongo ma fal nu ke manol. El sang acn se ma wo oemeet in lohm sin mutan nu sel, ac pakiya mutan fusr itkosr ma solla in lohm sin tokosra in kulansupwal.
And the maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king’s house: and he preferred her and her maids to the best place of the house of the women.
10 Fal nu ke kas in kasru lal Mordecai, Esther el tiana fahkak nu sin kutena mwet lah el sie mwet Jew.
Esther had not showed her people nor her kindred: for Mordecai had charged her that she should not show it.
11 Len nukewa Mordecai el forfor likinum in mutun lohm sin mutan, elan ku in etu lah fuka mutangal, ac mea ac sikyak nu sel.
And Mordecai walked every day before the court of the women’s house, to know how Esther did, and what should become of her.
12 Pacl in naweyuk lun sie mutan muta orek ke yac nufon se. Akmusra ke oil myrrh orek ke malem onkosr, ac mwe akmusra ke ono keng orek ke malem onkosr pac. Tukun pacl sacn, oasr pacl lun kais sie mutan fusr inge in utukyak nu yorol Tokosra Ahasuerus.
Now when every maid’s turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odors, and with other things for the purifying of the women; )
13 Pacl se el ac som liki lohm sin mutan nu in lohm fulat sin tokosra, el ku in sulela kutena nuknuk ku mwe yun elan nukum.
Then thus came every maiden to the king; whatever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women to the king’s house.
14 El ac som nu we ke eku, ac ke lotu tok ah ac utukla el nu in sie pacna lohm sin mutan, nu inpaol Shaashgaz, mwet eunuch se ma liyaung mutan kulansap kien tokosra. El fah tia sifilpa folok nu yorol tokosra, sayen tokosra el fin enenal ku sifacna pangnol ke inel.
In the evening she went, and on the morrow she returned into the second house of the women, to the custody of Shaashgaz, the king’s chamberlain, which kept the concubines: she came in to the king no more, except the king delighted in her, and that she were called by name.
15 Pacl lal Esther in som nu yorol tokosra.
Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in to the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favor in the sight of all them that looked on her.
16 Ouinge ke yac se akitkosr lal Ahasuerus in tokosra, ke malem aksingoul, malem in Tebeth, utuku Esther nu yorol tokosra nu in lohm sel.
So Esther was taken to king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.
17 Tokosra el lungse el yohk liki kutena mutan saya, ac el arulana engan sel yohk liki mutan fusr ngia kewa. Tokosra el sunya sifal Esther ke tefuro lun kasra, ac oru tuh elan aolulla Vashti.
And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favor in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown on her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.
18 Na tokosra el oru sie kufwa lulap in akfulatyal Esther, ac el suli mwet fulat ac mwet leum lal nukewa. El oakiya len sac tuh in sie len lulap nu sin mutunfacl nukewa ma el leumi, ac el kitalik mwe sang yohk ma fal nu ke ouiya lun sie tokosra.
Then the king made a great feast to all his princes and his servants, even Esther’s feast; and he made a release to the provinces, and gave gifts, according to the state of the king.
19 In pacl sac pacna, tokosra el srisrngilya Mordecai nu ke sie orekma fulat.
And when the virgins were gathered together the second time, then Mordecai sat in the king’s gate.
Esther had not yet showed her kindred nor her people; as Mordecai had charged her: for Esther did the commandment of Mordecai, like as when she was brought up with him.
21 In pacl se Mordecai el oru orekma lal inkul sin tokosra, Bigthana ac Teresh, luo sin mwet eunuch ke lohm sin tokosra su karingin mutunoa in utyak nu infukil sin tokosra, eltal eltal srungal Tokosra Ahasuerus, ac suk inkanek in unilya.
In those days, while Mordecai sat in the king’s gate, two of the king’s chamberlains, Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were wroth, and sought to lay hands on the king Ahasuerus.
22 Mordecai el lohngak ac el fahkang nu sel Kasra Esther, na Esther el fahk nu sel tokosra ma Mordecai el fahk nu sel ah.
And the thing was known to Mordecai, who told it to Esther the queen; and Esther certified the king thereof in Mordecai’s name.
Ouinge mukul luo ah kewa loksakeyuki ke acn in loksak ah. Tokosra el sapkin in simla ma inge in book in sramsram oa lun tokosrai sac.
And when inquisition was made of the matter, it was found out; therefore they were both hanged on a tree: and it was written in the book of the chronicles before the king.
