1 Ri Pablo patanil re ri Jesucristo, sikꞌital apanoq rech kux jun taqoꞌn, tzijol re ri utz laj taq tzij rech ri Dios.
From Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, who has been called to become an apostle, and has been set apart to tell God’s good news.
2 Ri ubꞌim loq ojer xuqujeꞌ kitzijom loq ri qꞌalajisal taq utzij ri Dios pa ri tyoxalaj taq tzꞌibꞌatalik.
This good news God promised long ago through his prophets in the sacred scriptures,
3 We utz laj tzij katzijon chrij ri Ukꞌojol ri Dios, Jesucristo Rijaꞌl ri David pa ri tyoꞌjal,
concerning his Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord; who, as to his human nature, was descended from David,
4 pa ri Uxlabꞌal ri katyoxirisanik, xqꞌalajisaxik chi are Ukꞌojol ri Dios, jeriꞌ rumal xkꞌastaj chikixoꞌl ri kaminaqibꞌ. Are waꞌ ri Jesucristo ri Ajawxel.
but, as to the spirit of holiness within him, was miraculously designated Son of God by his resurrection from the dead.
5 Xa rumal rech areꞌ, xuqujeꞌ rumal rech ri ubꞌiꞌ, xyaꞌtaj ri sipanik rech taqoꞌn chaqe rech kujkwinik keꞌqataqchiꞌj konojel ri tinimit ri e kꞌo cho ri uwachulew xa jeriꞌ keniman che ri kojobꞌal.
Through him we received the gift of the apostolic office, to win submission to the faith among all nations for the glory of his name.
6 Chikixoꞌl taq we tinimit riꞌ, ix kꞌo ix, ri ixusikꞌim apanoq ri Jesucristo.
And among these nations are you – you who have been called to belong to Jesus Christ.
7 Kintzꞌibꞌaj we wuj riꞌ chiꞌwe ix, ri sibꞌalaj ixuloqꞌ ri Dios ri ix kꞌo pa ri tinimit Roma, ri ix sikꞌital apanoq rech kixux tyoxalaj taq winaq. Are ri Dios ri qaTat xuqujeꞌ ri Ajawxel Jesucristo, cheyoꞌw toqꞌobꞌ xuqujeꞌ jaꞌmaril chiꞌwe.
To all in Rome who are dear to God and have been called to become Christ’s people, may God, our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ bless you and give you peace.
8 Nabꞌe, kintyoxin rumal iwe che ri nuDios pa Jesucristo, rumal cher utz kabꞌan chutzijoxik ri ikojobꞌal pa ronojel ri uwachulew.
First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, because the report of your faith is spreading throughout the world.
9 Qas karil ri Dios ri kinpatanij rukꞌ ronojel wanimaꞌ, xuqujeꞌ kintzijoj ri utz laj utzij ri uKꞌojol, chi qas kixnaꞌtaj wi chwe ronojel qꞌij.
God, to whom I offer the worship of my soul as I tell the goodness of his Son, is my witness how constantly I mention you when I pray,
10 Ronojel qꞌij kinta che ri Dios chi we are rayibꞌal ukꞌuꞌx Areꞌ, chuya bꞌe chwe kineꞌ chiꞌsolixik.
asking that, if he be willing, I may some day at last find the way open to visit you.
11 Sibꞌalaj kurayij wanimaꞌ kixeꞌnwilaꞌ rech jeriꞌ kinbꞌij chiꞌwe jas ubꞌanik ri sipanik pa ri Uxlabꞌixel xa jeriꞌ kikꞌamawaꞌj ichuqꞌabꞌ.
For I long to see you, in order to impart to you some spiritual gift and so give you fresh strength –
12 Rech jeriꞌ kaqataqchiꞌla qibꞌ chiqajujunal pa ri xa jun qakojobꞌal.
or rather that both you and I may find encouragement in each other’s faith.
13 Wachalal, kawaj kiwetaꞌmaj chi man inkwininaq taj ixnusolim, pune jeriꞌ nurayim isolixik rech keꞌnkꞌama loq we ri iwachinik, jacha ta ne ri ix ikꞌamom loq iwe kukꞌ ri winaq ri man aꞌj Israel taj.
I want you to know, my friends, that I have many times intended coming to see you – but until now I have been prevented – that I might find among you some fruit of my labours, as I have already among the other nations.
14 In kꞌo pa kꞌasaj iwukꞌ iwonojel ta kꞌu kꞌo iwetaꞌmabꞌal ta kꞌu maj iwetaꞌmabꞌal, we ix aj Grecia o pune man ix aj Grecia taj.
I have a duty to both the Greek and the barbarian, to both the cultured and the ignorant.
15 Qas kurayij na kꞌuꞌx kintzijoj ri utz laj tzij chiꞌwe ix ri kixel pa ri tinimit Roma.
And so, for my part, I am ready to tell the good news to you also who are in Rome.
16 Qas tzij man kinkꞌixibꞌej taj uqꞌalajisaxik ri utz laj tzij rumal are ukwinem ri Dios rech jeriꞌ kekolotaj konojel ri kekojonik: nabꞌe na ri winaq aꞌj Israel kꞌa te riꞌ ri winaq ri man aꞌj Israel taj.
For I am not ashamed of the good news; it is the power of God which brings salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first, but also to the Greek.
17 Pa ri utz laj tzij kaqꞌalajisax wi chi ri usukꞌal ri Dios kukꞌut ribꞌ rumal kojobꞌal xuqujeꞌ pa kojobꞌal: Jetaq ri kubꞌij ri Tzꞌibꞌatalik ri sukꞌ rumal kojobꞌal kakꞌasiꞌ na.
For in it there is a revelation of the divine righteousness resulting from faith and leading on to faith; as scripture says – “Through faith the righteous will find life.”
18 Qas tzij wi, ri royawal ri Dios kape chilaꞌ pa ri kaj kukꞌut ribꞌ pa kiwiꞌ konojel ri winaq ri kakiqꞌatej rukꞌ etzelal ri qas tzij.
So, too, there is a revelation from heaven of the divine wrath against every form of ungodliness and wickedness on the part of those people who, by their wicked lives, are stifling the truth.
19 Ri rajawaxik ketaꞌmax che ri Dios sibꞌalaj qꞌalaj, jeriꞌ rumal cher tzi are ri Dios xkꞌutuw chikiwach ri winaq.
This is so, because what can be known about God is plain to them; for God himself has made it plain.
20 Jeriꞌ rumal cher are xtiktaj loq ri uwachulew, ri jastaq ri man kilitaj taj che ri Dios, ri ukwinem ri maj umajitajik loq xuqujeꞌ maj ukꞌisik xuqujeꞌ ri kuxik ri Areꞌ, xilitajik pa ronojel ri xutiko, rech jeriꞌ maj jun kubꞌij chi man retaꞌm taj uwach ri Dios. (aïdios g126)
For ever since the creation of the universe God’s invisible attributes – his everlasting power and divinity – are to be seen and studied in his works, so that people have no excuse; (aïdios g126)
21 Pune xketaꞌmaj uwach ri Dios, man xkiya taj uqꞌij ri Dios jetaq ri taqal che, xane xesach pa taq ri kichomanik ri maj kutayij, xuqujeꞌ xqꞌeqar ri kanimaꞌ.
because, although they learned to know God, yet they did not offer him as God either praise or thanksgiving. Their speculations about him proved futile, and their undiscerning minds were darkened.
22 Pune kakibꞌij chi kꞌo ketaꞌmabꞌal xuꞌx kꞌut e kon taq winaq.
Professing to be wise, they showed themselves fools;
23 Xkikꞌex ri ujuluwem ri Dios ri man kakam taj, choch ri upalaj ri achi ri kamel, xuqujeꞌ kipalaj taq aꞌwaj ri kerapinik, ri kajibꞌ kichakalibꞌal xuqujeꞌ ri kakijururej kibꞌ cho ri uwachulew.
and they transformed the glory of the immortal God into the likeness of mortal humans, and of birds, and beasts, and reptiles.
24 Rumal riꞌ xejach rumal ri Dios pa taq ri itzel taq kichomabꞌal rech ri kanimaꞌ ri kuꞌkꞌam bꞌik pa ri makunem kukꞌ taq achyabꞌ xuqujeꞌ ixoqibꞌ, jeriꞌ xkitukij ri kityoꞌjal chi kijujunal.
Therefore God abandoned them to impurity, letting them follow the cravings of their hearts, until they dishonoured their own bodies;
25 Xkikꞌex ri qas tzij re ri Dios cho ri bꞌanoj tzij, xeꞌkiqꞌijilaꞌj xuqujeꞌ xeꞌkipatanij ri e jastaq ri xa e tiktalik, man xkiqꞌijilaꞌj taj ri Dios ri xetikowik, areꞌ ri Dios yaꞌtal uqꞌij chibꞌe qꞌij saq. (aiōn g165)
for they had substituted a lie for the truth about God, and had reverenced and worshiped created things more than the Creator, who is to be praised for ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
26 Rumal ri xkibꞌano, ri Dios xuꞌjach pa ri kꞌixibꞌal ubꞌanik. Ri ixoqibꞌ xkikꞌex ri yaꞌtal ubꞌanik cho ri man yaꞌtal taj ubꞌanik.
That, I say, is why God abandoned them to degrading passions. Even the women among them perverted the natural use of their bodies to the unnatural;
27 Xuqujeꞌ ri achyabꞌ xkitzaq ubꞌanik ri riqoj ibꞌ rukꞌ ri ixoq, are xkichapleꞌj ubꞌanik mak achyabꞌ kukꞌ kech taq achyabꞌ xkibꞌan ri kꞌixibꞌal ubꞌanik, xuqujeꞌ xkikꞌamawaꞌj pa ke wi ri qꞌatoj tzij ri taqal chike.
while the men, disregarding that for which women were intended by nature, were consumed with passion for one another. Men indulged in vile practices with men, and incurred in their own persons the inevitable penalty for their perverseness.
28 Xuqujeꞌ xkichomaj chi man taqal taj kakikoj pa kwenta ri retaꞌmabꞌal ri Dios, rumal riꞌ ri Dios xuꞌjach pa ri tontoꞌil rech jeriꞌ xkibꞌano ri man taqal taj kakibꞌano.
Then, as they would not keep God before their minds, God abandoned them to depraved thoughts, so that they did all kinds of shameful things.
29 Xkibꞌan ronojel uwach makaj, jiqꞌjatem, xuqujeꞌ tontoꞌil. Xenoj che tiꞌtatem, kamisanik, kojoj taq chꞌoꞌj, subꞌunik, etzelal, xuqujeꞌ tzijtaꞌlik.
They revelled in every form of wickedness, evil, greed, vice. Their lives were full of envy, murder, quarrelling, treachery, malice.
30 E bꞌanal taq tzij, uꞌkꞌulel ri Dios, man kakinimaj ta kibꞌ. Kakibꞌan nimal, kakinimarisaj kibꞌ e wokol taq etzelal, man keꞌkinimaj taj ri kitat kinan.
They became back-biters, slanderers, impious, insolent, boastful. They devised new sins. They disobeyed their parents.
31 Maj ketaꞌmabꞌal, man sukꞌ taj ri kakibꞌano, man kꞌo taj kinaꞌoj, man je ta kenoꞌjin winaq.
They were undiscerning, untrustworthy, without natural affection or pity.
32 Qas iwetaꞌm ri kubꞌij ri sukꞌ laj utaqanik ri Dios, ri jewaꞌ kenoꞌjinik taqal chike kekamik; jeriꞌ rumal man xwi ta jeriꞌ kenoꞌjinik, xane kakibꞌij chike ri jeriꞌ kenoꞌjinik chi utz ri tajin kakibꞌano.
Well aware of God’s decree, that those who do such things deserve to die, not only are they guilty of them themselves, but they even applaud those who do them.
