ಆದಿಕಾಂಡ 23
1 ಸಾರಳು ನೂರಿಪ್ಪತ್ತೇಳು ವರ್ಷ ಬದುಕಿದ್ದಳು.
And the life of Sarrha was an hundred and twenty-seven years.
2 ಅವಳು ಕಾನಾನ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಹೆಬ್ರೋನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದರೆ ಕಿರ್ಯತ್ ಅರ್ಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿದಳು. ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಸಾರಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಗೋಳಾಡಿದನು.
And Sarrha died in the city of Arboc, which is in the valley, this is Chebron in the land of Chanaan; and Abraam came to lament for Sarrha and to mourn.
3 ಆಗ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ತನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯ ಶವದ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ಎದ್ದು, ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, ಅವರಿಗೆ,
And Abraam stood up from before his dead; and Abraam spoke to the sons of Chet, saying,
4 “ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪರದೇಶಸ್ಥನೂ, ಪರವಾಸಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನನಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಧಿಯ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಕೊಡಿರಿ. ಆಗ ನನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯ ಶವವನ್ನು ಹೂಳಿಡುವೆನು,” ಎಂದನು.
I am a sojourner and a stranger among you, give me therefore possession of a burying-place among you, and I will bury my dead away from me.
5 ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟು,
And the sons of Chet answered to Abraam, saying, Not so, Sir,
6 “ಒಡೆಯಾ, ನಮ್ಮ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳು, ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಾಪ್ರಭುವಾಗಿದ್ದೀ. ನಮ್ಮ ಸಮಾಧಿಗಳೊಳಗೆ ಉತ್ತಮವಾದದ್ದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯ ಶವವನ್ನು ಹೂಳಿಡು. ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಸಮಾಧಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾರರು,” ಎಂದರು.
but hear us; you are in the midst of us a king from God; bury your dead in our choice sepulchres, for not one of us will by any means withhold his sepulchre from you, so that you should not bury your dead there.
7 ಆಗ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಎದ್ದು, ಆ ದೇಶದ ಜನರಾದ ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರ ಮುಂದೆ ತಲೆಬಾಗಿ,
And Abraam rose up and did obeisance to the people of the land, to the sons of Chet.
8 ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, “ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯ ಶವವನ್ನು ಹೂಳಿಡುವುದು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಸರಿಬಿದ್ದರೆ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾತು ಕೇಳಿ ಚೋಹರನ ಮಗ ಎಫ್ರೋನನನ್ನು ನನಗಾಗಿ ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ.
And Abraam spoke to them, saying, If you have it in your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight, listen to me, and speak for me to Ephron the son Saar.
9 ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಹೊಲದ ಅಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮಕ್ಪೇಲಾ ಗವಿಯನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡಲಿ. ಅವನು ಅದನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕ ಕ್ರಯಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡಲಿ,” ಎಂದನು.
And let him give me the double cave which he has, which is in a part of his field, let him give it me for the money it is worth for possession of a burying-place among you.
10 ಆಗ ಅವರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ಎಫ್ರೋನನು ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ದ್ವಾರದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂತಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರು ಕೇಳುವಂತೆ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ,
Now Ephron was sitting in the midst of the children of Chet, and Ephron the Chettite answered Abraam and spoke in the hearing of the sons of Chet, and of all who entered the city, saying,
11 “ಒಡೆಯನೇ ಹಾಗಲ್ಲ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳು. ಆ ಹೊಲವನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗವಿಯನ್ನೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಅದನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಜನರ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯ ಶವವನ್ನು ಹೂಳಿಡು,” ಎಂದನು.
Attend to me, my lord, and hear me, I give to you the field and the cave which is in it; I have given it you before all my country men; bury your dead.
12 ಆಗ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ದೇಶದ ಜನರ ಮುಂದೆ ತಲೆಬಾಗಿ,
And Abraam did obeisance before the people of the land.
13 ದೇಶದ ಜನರು ಕೇಳುವಂತೆ ಎಫ್ರೋನನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳು. ನಾನು ಹೊಲದ ಕ್ರಯವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಅದನ್ನು ನನ್ನಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದುಕೋ, ಆಗ ನನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯ ಶವವನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಳಿಡುವೆನು,” ಎಂದನು.
And he said in the ears of Ephron before the people of the land, Since you are on my side, hear me; take the price of the field from me, and I will bury my dead there.
14 ಎಫ್ರೋನನು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರವಾಗಿ,
But Ephron answered Abraam, saying,
15 “ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳು. ಆ ಭೂಮಿಯು ನಾನೂರು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯ ನಾಣ್ಯಗಳ ಬೆಲೆಯುಳ್ಳದ್ದು, ಈ ಕುರಿತು ನಮ್ಮೊಳಗೇ ವಾದವೇಕೆ? ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯ ಶವವನ್ನು ಹೂಳಿಡು,” ಎಂದನು.
Nay, my lord, I have heard indeed, the land [is worth] four hundred silver didrachmas, but what can this be between me and you? nay, do you bury your dead.
16 ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಎಫ್ರೋನನ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡು, ಎಫ್ರೋನನು ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದ ಬೆಲೆ ಅಂದರೆ, ವರ್ತಕರಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುವ ನಾನೂರು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ ನಾಣ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ತೂಕಮಾಡಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
And Abraam listened to Ephron, and Abraam rendered to Ephron the money, which he mentioned in the ears of the sons of Chet, four hundred didrachmas of silver approved with merchants.
17 ಹೀಗೆ ಮಮ್ರೆಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿರುವ ಮಕ್ಪೇಲದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎಫ್ರೋನನ ಹೊಲವೂ, ಆ ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗವಿಯೂ, ಆ ಹೊಲದ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಇರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮರಗಳೂ,
And the field of Ephron, which was in Double Cave, which is opposite Mambre, the field and the cave, which was in it, and every tree which was in the field, and whatever is in its borders round about, were made sure in its borders round about, were made sure
18 ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ, ಅವರ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಹೆಬ್ಬಾಗಿಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರುವ ಎಲ್ಲರ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನ ಆಸ್ತಿಯೆಂದು ದೃಢವಾಯಿತು.
to Abraam for a possession, before the sons of Chet, and all that entered into the city.
19 ಇದಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ತನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಸಾರಳನ್ನು ಕಾನಾನ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಬ್ರೋನ್ ಎಂಬ ಮಮ್ರೆಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿರುವ ಮಕ್ಪೇಲ ಹೊಲದ ಗವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಳಿಟ್ಟನು.
After this Abraam buried Sarrha his wife in the Double Cave of the field, which is opposite Mambre, this is Chebron in the land of Chanaan.
20 ಆ ಹೊಲವೂ, ಅದರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗವಿಯೂ ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರಿಂದ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ ಸ್ವಂತ ಸಮಾಧಿ ಎಂದು ಸ್ಥಿರವಾಯಿತು.
So the field and the cave which was in it were made sure to Abraam for possession of a burying place, by the sons of Chet.
