ಎಜ್ರನು 9
1 ೧ ಇದಾದನಂತರ ಪ್ರಧಾನಪುರುಷರು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, “ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಧಾರಣಜನರೂ, ಯಾಜಕರೂ, ಲೇವಿಯರೂ, ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರು, ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರು, ಪೆರಿಜ್ಜೀಯರು, ಯೆಬೂಸಿಯರು, ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರು, ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರು, ಐಗುಪ್ತ್ಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಅಮೋರಿಯರು ಎಂಬ ಅನ್ಯ ದೇಶಗಳವರ ಬಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ತೊರೆಯದೆ ಅವರ ಅಸಹ್ಯಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
Now, when these things were ended, the rulers drew near unto me, saying, The people of Israel and the priests and the Levites have not kept themselves separate from the peoples of the lands, —in view of their abominations-even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites;
2 ೨ ಅವರು ತಮಗೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಗಂಡುಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೂ ಅವರಿಂದ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡದ್ದರಿಂದ ದೇವಕುಲವು ಅನ್ಯದೇಶಗಳವರೊಡನೆ ಮಿಶ್ರವಾಯಿತು. ಪ್ರಭುಗಳೂ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಧಾನರೂ ಈ ದ್ರೋಹಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಂದಾಳುಗಳಾದರು” ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
for they have taken of their daughters, for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy seed have intermingled themselves among the peoples of the lands, —and, the hand of the rulers and the deputies, hath, in this unfaithfulness, been, foremost.
3 ೩ ಈ ವರ್ತಮಾನವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದೊಡನೆ ನಾನು ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಮೇಲಂಗಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡು ತಲೆಯ ಮತ್ತು ಗಡ್ಡದ ಕೂದಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು, ಸ್ತಬ್ಧನಾಗಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡೆನು.
When I heard this thing, I rent my garment, and my robe, —and tore out of the hair of my head and my beard, and sat stunned.
4 ೪ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ದೇವರ ವಿಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಗೌರವಿಸಿದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಸೆರೆಯಿಂದ ಬಂದವರ ದ್ರೋಹದ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ ಕಳವಳಗೊಂಡು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
Then, unto me, were gathered, all who trembled at the words of the God of Israel, concerning the unfaithfulness of them who had been exiled, —but, I, sat stunned, until the evening gift.
5 ೫ ನಾನು ಸಂಧ್ಯಾ ನೈವೇದ್ಯ ಸಮರ್ಪಣೆಯ ಹೊತ್ತಿನವರೆಗೂ ಸ್ತಬ್ಧನಾಗಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೆನು. ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ದೇಹದಂಡನೆಮಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹರಿದ ಬಟ್ಟೆಮೇಲಂಗಿಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದವನಾಗಿಯೇ ಮೊಣಕಾಲೂರಿ ನನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಕೈಗಳನ್ನೆತ್ತಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ:
And, at the evening gift, I arose from mine affliction, which had been accompanied by the rending of my garment and my robe, —and I bowed upon my knees, and spread forth my hands unto Yahweh my God;
6 ೬ “ನನ್ನ ದೇವರೇ, ನಾನು ಮನಗುಂದಿದವನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ನಿನ್ನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ನಾಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನನ್ನ ದೇವರೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ಪಾಪಗಳು ನಮ್ಮ ತಲೆಮೀರಿ ಬೆಳೆದಿವೆ, ನಮ್ಮ ಅಪರಾಧವು ಆಕಾಶವನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟುವಷ್ಟು ದೊಡ್ಡದಾಗಿವೆ.
and said, O my God, I turn pale and am ashamed, to lift up, O my God, my face unto thee, —for, our iniquities, have multiplied above the head, and our guilt hath magnified itself unto the heavens.
7 ೭ ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ಕಾಲದಿಂದ ಇಂದಿನ ವರೆಗೂ ಮಹಾಪರಾಧಿಗಳೇ. ನಮ್ಮ ಪಾಪಗಳ ದೆಸೆಯಿಂದ ನಾವೂ, ನಮ್ಮ ಅರಸರೂ ಮತ್ತು ಯಾಜಕರೂ ಅನ್ಯದೇಶಗಳ ರಾಜರ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು ಈಗಿರುವಂತೆ ಕತ್ತಿಗೂ, ಸೆರೆಗೂ, ಸುಲಿಗೆಗೂ, ಅಪಮಾನಕ್ಕೂ ಗುರಿಯಾದೆವು.
Since the days of our fathers, we, have been in great guilt, until this day, —and, for our iniquities, have we been given up—we, our kings, our priests, —into the hand of the kings of the lands, by sword and by captivity and by spoiling and by a turning pale of face, as at this day.
8 ೮ ಆದರೂ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಒಂದು ಕ್ಷಣ ನಮಗೆ ಪ್ರಸನ್ನನಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಜನರನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಣೆಗಾಗಿ ಉಳಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊಳೆಯಂತೆ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನೆಲೆಗೊಳಿಸಿ, ನಮ್ಮ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳೆಗೊಳಿಸಿ ನಮ್ಮ ದಾಸತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಉಜ್ಜೀವನವನ್ನು ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
And, now, for a very little moment, hath come favour from Yahweh our God, in leaving to us a remnant to escape, and in giving to us a nail in his holy place, —that our God may enlighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.
9 ೯ ನಾವು ದಾಸರಾದರೂ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರು ನಮ್ಮ ದಾಸತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕೈಬಿಡಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಹಾಳುಬಿದ್ದ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರ ಆಲಯವನ್ನು ಪುನಃ ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಭದ್ರಪಡಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ನಮಗೆ ಉಜ್ಜೀವನ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತವಾಗುವಂತೆಯೂ, ಯೆಹೂದದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಮತ್ತು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನಮಗೆ ಅಭಯಾಶ್ರಯ ಸಿಕ್ಕುವಂತೆಯೂ ಪರ್ಷಿಯ ರಾಜರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಮಗೆ ಕೃಪೆಯನ್ನು ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
For, bondmen, we are, but, in our bondage, hath our God not forsaken us, —but extended unto us lovingkindness before the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up on high the house of our God, to raise up the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.
10 ೧೦ ಇಷ್ಟು ಉಪಕಾರವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದ ನಾವು ಏನು ಅರಿಕೆಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯ? ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ಉಲ್ಲಂಘಿಸಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
But, now, what can we say, O our God, after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments,
11 ೧೧ ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಾದ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳ ಮುಖಾಂತರ ನಮಗೆ, ‘ನೀವು ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವ ದೇಶವು ಅನ್ಯದೇಶಗಳವರ ಅಶುದ್ಧತ್ವದಿಂದಲೂ, ಅವರ ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಮಲಿನವಾಗಿದೆ. ಆ ದೇಶವು ಎಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲೂ ಆ ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳ ಅಸಹ್ಯತೆಯಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿರುತ್ತದೆ.
which thou didst command by the hand of thy servants the prophets, saying, As for the land which, ye, are entering to possess, an impure land, it is, with the impurity of the peoples of the lands, —with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to the other, with their uncleanness.
12 ೧೨ ಹೀಗಿರಲಾಗಿ ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಅವರ ಗಂಡುಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಕೊಡಲೂ ಬಾರದು, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಗಂಡುಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಅವರ ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲೂ ಬಾರದು, ಅವರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಸುಖಕ್ಷೇಮಗಳನ್ನು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಬಯಸಬಾರದು. ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನಡೆದರೆ ನೀವು ಬಲಗೊಂಡು ಆ ದೇಶದ ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸಿ, ಅದನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂತಾನದವರಿಗೆ ಶಾಶ್ವತಸ್ವಾಸ್ಥ್ಯವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಬಿಡುವಿರಿ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಿಯಲ್ಲಾ.
Now, therefore, your daughters, do not ye give to their sons, and, their daughters, do not ye take for your sons, neither shall ye seek their prosperity nor their pleasure unto times age-abiding, —to the end ye may become strong, and may eat the good of the land, and may suffer your children to possess it, unto times age-abiding.
13 ೧೩ ನಮ್ಮ ದುಷ್ಕರ್ಮ ಮಹಾಪರಾಧಗಳ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿ ಇಷ್ಟೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೇಡು ಬಂದರೂ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮ ಪಾಪಗಳಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ದಂಡಿಸದೆ, ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಇಷ್ಟು ಜನರನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿದಿ.
And, after all that hath come upon us, for our wicked doings, and for our great guilt—For, thou, O our God, hast spared us, punishing us less than our iniquities deserved, and hast given us a deliverance such as this,
14 ೧೪ ಹೀಗಿರುವಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ತಿರುಗಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮೀರಿ ವಿಗ್ರಹಾರಾಧಕರಾದ ಈ ಜನರ ಸಂಗಡ ಬೀಗತನ ಮಾಡುವುದು ಯೋಗ್ಯವೋ? ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ರೌದ್ರಾವೇಶವುಳ್ಳವನಾಗಿ ಯಾರೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಉಳಿಯದಂತೆ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಮುಗಿಸಿಬಿಡುವಿಯಲ್ಲವೋ?
should we again break thy commandments and join ourselves by affinity of marriage with the peoples of these abominations, —wouldst thou not be angry with us, unto a full end, that there should be neither remainder nor deliverance?
15 ೧೫ ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ದೇವರೇ, ಈಗಿರುವಷ್ಟು ಜನರನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ನೀನು ಧರ್ಮಸ್ವರೂಪನೆಂದು ಪ್ರಕಟವಾಯಿತು. ನಾವಾದರೋ ನಿನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪರಾಧಿಗಳು. ಈ ನಮ್ಮ ದುಷ್ಕೃತ್ಯದ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿ ನಿನ್ನೆದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಲಾರೆವು” ಎಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡೆನು.
O Yahweh, God of Israel, righteous thou art, for we have had left us a deliverance as at this day, —here we are, before thee, in our guilty deeds, for there is no standing before thee, because of this thing!
