ಸಮುವೇಲನು - ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಭಾಗ 2
1 ೧ ಅನಂತರ ದಾವೀದನು ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು, “ನಾನು ಯೆಹೂದ ದೇಶದ ಯಾವುದಾದರು ಒಂದು ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬಹುದೋ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಆತನು ಹೋಗಬಹುದು ಅಂದನು. ಅವನು ತಿರುಗಿ, “ಯಾವ ಊರಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಲಿ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆಬ್ರೋನಿಗೆ ಹೋಗು ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿತು.
It happened after this, that David inquired of YHWH, saying, "Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah?" YHWH said to him, "Go up." David said, "Where shall I go up?" He said, "To Hebron."
2 ೨ ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರಾದ ಇಜ್ರೇಲಿನ ಅಹೀನೋವಮಳನ್ನೂ, ಕರ್ಮೇಲ್ಯನಾದ ನಾಬಾಲನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅಬೀಗೈಲಳನ್ನೂ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು.
So David went up there, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelite and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite,
3 ೩ ದಾವೀದನ ಜನರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಹೆಬ್ರೋನಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದ ಊರುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡಿದರು.
and the men who were with him, everyone with his household. And they lived in Hebron.
4 ೪ ತರುವಾಯ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಅಭಿಷೇಕಿಸಿ, ತಮ್ಮ ಕುಲಕ್ಕೆ ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಸೌಲನ ಶವವನ್ನು ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡಿದವರು ಯಾಬೇಷ್ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ ದೇಶದವರೇ ಎಂಬ ಸಂಗತಿಯು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾಯಿತು.
The men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. They told David, saying, "It was the people of Jabesh Gilead who buried Saul."
5 ೫ ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಅವರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ, “ನೀವು ನಿಷ್ಠೆಯಿಂದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಸೌಲನ ಶವವನ್ನು ಸಮಾಧಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನಿಮಗೆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದವುಂಟಾಗಲಿ.
David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh Gilead, and said to them, "Blessed are you by YHWH, because you have shown this kindness to your lord, Saul, and have buried him.
Now may YHWH show loving kindness and truth to you. I also will reward you for this kindness, because you have done this thing.
7 ೭ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಅಭಿಷೇಕಿಸಿ, ತಮ್ಮ ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಅರಸನಾದ ಸೌಲನು ಸತ್ತುಹೋದರೂ ನೀವು ಶೂರರಾಗಿರಿ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕೈಗಳು ಜೋಲುಬೀಳದಿರಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
Now therefore let your hands be strong, and be valiant; for Saul your lord is dead, and also the house of Judah has anointed me king over them."
8 ೮ ಸೌಲನ ಸೇನಾಧಿಪತಿಯೂ ನೇರನ ಮಗನೂ ಆದ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಸೌಲನ ಮಗನಾದ ಈಷ್ಬೋಶೆತನನ್ನು ಹೊಳೆಯ ಆಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮಹನಯಿಮಿಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ
Now Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul's army, had taken Ishbaal the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahanaim;
9 ೯ ಅವನನ್ನು ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್, ಆಶೇರ್, ಇಜ್ರೇಲ, ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್, ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ ಜನರಿಗೂ ಬೇರೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೂ ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದನು.
and he made him king over Gilead, and over the Geshurites, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.
10 ೧೦ ಸೌಲನ ಮಗನಾದ ಈಷ್ಬೋಶೆತನು ನಲ್ವತ್ತು ವರ್ಷದವನಾದಾಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನು ಆಳತೊಡಗಿ ಎರಡು ವರ್ಷ ರಾಜ್ಯಭಾರ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರು ಮಾತ್ರ ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದರು.
Ishbaal, Saul's son, was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and he reigned two years. But the house of Judah followed David.
The time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.
Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ishbaal the son of Saul, went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.
13 ೧೩ ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋವಾಬನೂ ದಾವೀದನ ಸೇವಕರು ಹೊರಟು ಅವರನ್ನು ಗಿಬ್ಯೋನಿನ ಕೆರೆಯ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಸಂಧಿಸಿ, ಒಂದು ಗುಂಪು ಕೆರೆಯ ಈಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಗುಂಪು ಆಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡರು.
Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out, and met them by the pool of Gibeon; and they sat down, the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool.
14 ೧೪ ಆಗ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ, “ಎರಡು ಕಡೆಯ ತರುಣರು ಎದ್ದು ನಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಸಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು ಯೋವಾಬನು, “ಆಗಲಿ” ಅಂದನು.
Abner said to Joab, "Let the young men now arise and compete before us." Joab said, "Let them arise."
15 ೧೫ ಆಗ ಸೌಲನ ಮಗನಾದ ಈಷ್ಬೋಶೆತನ ಕಡೆಯವರಾದ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಮಂದಿ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರು, ದಾವೀದನ ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಮಂದಿಯೂ ಸಮಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟು ಬಂದರು.
Then they arose and went over by number: twelve of the sons of Benjamin of Ishbaal the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.
16 ೧೬ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನೂ ತನ್ನ ತನ್ನ ಎದುರಾಳಿಯ ತಲೆಹಿಡಿದು, ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಪಕ್ಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಿವಿದಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸತ್ತು ಬಿದ್ದರು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಗಿಬ್ಯೋನಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ “ಹೆಲ್ಕಾತ್ ಹಸ್ಸೂರಿಂ” ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಾಯಿತು.
They each caught his opponent by the head, and thrust his sword in his fellow's side; so they fell down together. Therefore that place was called Field of Blades, which is in Gibeon.
The battle was very severe that day, and Abner and the men of Israel were defeated before the servants of David.
18 ೧೮ ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾದ ಯೋವಾಬ, ಅಬೀಷೈ, ಅಸಾಹೇಲ ಎಂಬುವರು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಅಸಾಹೇಲನು ಅಡವಿಯ ಜಿಂಕೆಯಂತೆ ಚುರುಕು ಕಾಲಿನವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
The three sons of Zeruiah were there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel. And Asahel was as quick on his feet as a wild gazelle.
Asahel pursued after Abner, and as he went he did not turn to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.
Then Abner looked behind him, and said, "Is it you, Asahel?" He answered, "It is I."
21 ೨೧ ಆಗ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಎಡಕ್ಕಾಗಲಿ, ಬಲಕ್ಕಾಗಲಿ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಯುವಕರಲ್ಲೊಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಸುಲಿದುಕೋ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ಅಸಾಹೇಲನು ಒಪ್ಪಲಿಲ್ಲ.
Abner said to him, "Turn aside to your right hand or to your left, and grab one of the young men, and take his armor." But Asahel would not stop from pursuing him.
22 ೨೨ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ತಿರುಗಿ ಅಸಾಹೇಲನಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗು, ನಾನೇಕೆ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನೆಲಕ್ಕುರುಳಿಸಬೇಕು? ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಅಣ್ಣನಾದ ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಮುಖ ತೋರಿಸಲಿ” ಅಂದನು.
Abner said again to Asahel, "Stop pursuing me. Why should I strike you to the ground? How then should I hold up my face to Joab your brother?"
23 ೨೩ ಅಸಾಹೇಲನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಒಪ್ಪದ ಕಾರಣ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಬರ್ಜಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಿನಿಂದ ಅವನ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಯೊಳಗೆ ತಿವಿದನು. ಬರ್ಜಿಯು ಅವನ ಬೆನ್ನಿನಿಂದ ಹಾಯ್ದು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದಿತು. ಅವನು ಕೂಡಲೇ ಅಲ್ಲೇ ಬಿದ್ದು ಸತ್ತನು. ಅಸಾಹೇಲನು ಸತ್ತು ಬಿದ್ದ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅಲ್ಲೇ ನಿಂತರು.
But he refused to stop. Therefore Abner with the back end of the spear struck him in the body, so that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place. And it came about that all who came to the place where Asahel had fallen and died, stopped there.
24 ೨೪ ಆದರೆ ಯೋವಾಬನೂ, ಅಬೀಷೈಯೂ ಅಬ್ನೇರನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿದರು. ಹೀಗೆ ಅವರು “ಅಮ್ಮಾ” ಎಂಬ ಗುಡ್ಡಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಸೂರ್ಯಾಸ್ತಮಾನವಾಯಿತು. ಆ ಗುಡ್ಡವು ಗಿಬ್ಯೋನಿನ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಮಾರ್ಗದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗೀಯದ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತದೆ.
But Joab and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun went down when they had come to the hill of Ammah, that lies before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.
The sons of Benjamin gathered themselves together after Abner, and formed a single group, and stood on the top of a hill.
26 ೨೬ ಆಗ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು, “ಯೋವಾಬನನ್ನು ಕತ್ತಿಯು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತಲೇ ಇರಬೇಕೋ? ಹಗೆತನವೇ ಇದರ ಅಂತ್ಯಫಲವೆಂದು ನಿನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ಸಹೋದರರನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟುವುದು ಸಾಕೆಂದು ನಿನ್ನ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಯಾವಾಗ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸುವಿ” ಎಂದನು.
Then Abner called to Joab, and said, "Shall the sword devour forever? Do you not know that it will be bitterness in the latter end? How long shall it be then, before you ask the people to stop pursuing their brothers?"
27 ೨೭ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋವಾಬನು, “ದೇವರ ಜೀವದಾಣೆ, ಈಗ ನೀನು ಈ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳದಿದ್ದರೆ ಜನರು ನಾಳೆ ಬೆಳಗಾಗುವವರೆಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಬಂಧುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟದೆ ಬಿಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟು ಕೂಡಲೇ ತುತ್ತೂರಿಯನ್ನು ಊದಿಸಿದನು.
Joab said, "As YHWH lives, if you had not spoken, surely the people would not have given up the pursuit of their brothers until the morning."
So Joab blew the trumpet; and all the people stopped, and no longer chased after Israel, and they no longer fought.
29 ೨೯ ಅಬ್ನೇರನೂ ಅವನ ಜನರೂ ಅರಾಬಾ ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ರಾತ್ರಿಯೆಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಮಾಡಿ ಯೊರ್ದನ್ ಹೊಳೆದಾಟಿ, ಬಿಥ್ರೋನ ಕಣಿವೆಯನ್ನು ಹಾದು, ಮಹನಯಿಮಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದರು.
Abner and his men went all that night through the Arabah; and they passed over the Jordan, and marched the whole morning, and came to Mahanaim.
30 ೩೦ ಯೋವಾಬನು ಅಬ್ನೇರನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟದೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟು, ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಬಂದು, ಜನರನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸಿ ಲೆಕ್ಕಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ದಾವೀದನ ಹತ್ತೊಂಬತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಸೈನಿಕರೂ ಅಸಾಹೇಲನೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
Joab returned from pursuing Abner. And when he had gathered all the people together, there were missing from David's servants nineteen men and Asahel.
But the servants of David had struck of the people of Benjamin, from the men of Abner, three hundred and sixty men who died.
32 ೩೨ ಅವರು ಅಸಾಹೇಲನ ಶವವನ್ನು ತಂದು ಅದನ್ನು ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅವನ ತಂದೆಯ ಸ್ಮಶಾನಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡಿದರು. ಅನಂತರ ಯೋವಾಬನೂ, ಅವನ ಜನರೂ ರಾತ್ರಿಯೆಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಮಾಡಿ ಹೆಬ್ರೋನಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು. ಆಗ ಸೂರ್ಯೋದಯವಾಯಿತು.
They took up Asahel, and buried him in the tomb of his father, which was in Bethlehem. Joab and his men went all night, and the day broke on them at Hebron.
