ಪೂರ್ವಕಾಲವೃತ್ತಾಂತ ದ್ವಿತೀಯ ಭಾಗ 14

1 ೧ ಅಬೀಯನು ಮೃತನಾಗಿ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಸೇರಲು, ಅವನ ಶವವನ್ನು ದಾವೀದನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡಿದರು. ಅವನಿಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಅವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಆಸನು ಅರಸನಾದನು. ಇವನ ಕಾಲದ ಹತ್ತು ವರ್ಷ ದೇಶದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಸಮಾಧಾನವಿತ್ತು.

So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David, and Asa his son reigned in his stead, —in his days, the land rested ten years.

2 ೨ ಆಸನು ತನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯವನಾಗಿಯೂ ನೀತಿವಂತನಾಗಿಯೂ ನಡೆದನು.

And Asa did that which was good and that which was right, in the eyes of Yahweh his God;

3 ೩ ಇವನು ಅನ್ಯದೇವತೆಗಳ ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಪೂಜಾಸ್ಥಳಗಳನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿ ಕಲ್ಲುಕಂಬಗಳನ್ನು ಒಡೆದು ಹಾಕಿ, ಅಶೇರ ವಿಗ್ರಹ ಸ್ತಂಭಗಳನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟನು.

and took away the foreign altars, and the high places, —and brake in pieces the pillars, and cut in twain the Sacred Stems;

4 ೪ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನೇ ಆಶ್ರಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಧರ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ವಿಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.

and bade Judah seek Yahweh, God of their fathers, -and execute the law, and the commandment;

5 ೫ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳೊಳಗಿನಿಂದ ಪೂಜಾಸ್ಥಳಗಳನ್ನೂ ಸೂರ್ಯಸ್ತಂಭಗಳನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿಸಿದನು. ಇವನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ್ಯದೊಳಗೆ ಸಮಾಧಾನವಿತ್ತು.

and removed from all the cities of Judah, the high places, and the sun-images, —and the kingdom became quiet before him.

6 ೬ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಅನುಗ್ರಹದಿಂದ ಶತ್ರುಭಯ ತಪ್ಪಿ ಯಾವ ಯುದ್ಧವೂ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಧಾನವಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ಇವನು ಯೆಹೂದದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೋಟೆಕೊತ್ತಲುಗಳುಳ್ಳ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿದನು.

And he built cities of defence, in Judah, —for the land had quiet, nor was there near him any war, in these years, because Yahweh had given him rest.

7 ೭ ಇವನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೆ, “ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ಆಶ್ರಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಕಾರಣ ಆತನ ಅನುಗ್ರಹದಿಂದ ಸುತ್ತಣ ವೈರಿಗಳ ಭಯ ತಪ್ಪಿ ದೇಶವು ಇನ್ನೂ ನಿರಾತಂಕವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ನಾವು ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿ, ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತಣ ಗೋಡೆ, ಗೋಪುರ, ಬುರುಜು ಬಾಗಿಲು, ಅಗುಳಿ ಇವುಗಳಿಂದ ಭದ್ರಪಡಿಸೋಣ” ಎನ್ನಲಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಮುಗಿಸಿದರು.

Therefore said he to Judah, Let us build these cities, and let us surround them with walls and towers, doors and bars, while the land is yet before us, for we have sought Yahweh our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built, and prospered.

8 ೮ ಆಸನಿಗೆ ಸೈನ್ಯವಿತ್ತು; ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಗುರಾಣಿ ಬರ್ಜಿಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದಿರುವ ಮೂರು ಲಕ್ಷ ಮಂದಿ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯ ಸೈನಿಕರಿದ್ದರು. ಖೇಡ್ಯ ಹಿಡಿದವರೂ ಬಿಲ್ಲುಗಾರರೂ ಆದ ಎರಡು ಲಕ್ಷದ ಎಂಭತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ ಸೈನಿಕರೂ ಇದ್ದರು. ಇವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಯುದ್ಧವೀರರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

And it came to pass that, Asa, had a force bearing shield and spear, out of Judah, three hundred thousand, and, out of Benjamin, such as bare a buckler and trode a bow, two hundred and eighty thousand, —all these, were heroes of valour.

9 ೯ ಕೂಷ್ಯನಾದ ಜೆರಹನು ಹತ್ತು ಲಕ್ಷ ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನೂ ಮುನ್ನೂರು ರಥಗಳನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟು ಮಾರೇಷದವರೆಗೆ ಬಂದನು.

Then came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian, with a force of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots, —and he came as far as Mareshah.

10 ೧೦ ಆಸನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟನು. ಮಾರೇಷದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಚೆಫಾತಾ ಬಯಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ವ್ಯೂಹಕಟ್ಟಿದರು.

And Asa went out to meet him, —and they set in array for battle, in the valley of Zaphonah, at Mareshah.

11 ೧೧ ಆಸನು ತನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ, “ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ಬಲಿಷ್ಠನು ಬಲಹೀನನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೀಳುವಲ್ಲಿ, ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲು ನಿನ್ನ ಹೊರತು ಬೇರಾರೂ ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸು. ನಿನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಭರವಸವಿಟ್ಟು ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಮಹಾಸಮೂಹಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದೆವಲ್ಲಾ. ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರು ನೀನು. ನರರು ನಿನ್ನೆದುರು ಗೆಲ್ಲಬಾರದು” ಎಂದು ಮೊರೆಯಿಡಲು.

Then Asa cried out unto Yahweh his God, and said, O Yahweh, it is, nothing with thee, to help whether with many or with such as have no strength. Help us, O Yahweh our God, for, on thee, do we lean, and, in thy name, have we come against this multitude, —O Yahweh! our God, thou art, let not, weak man, have power against thee.

12 ೧೨ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಕೂಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಆಸನಿಂದಲೂ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಂದಲೂ ಅಪಜಯ ಉಂಟಾಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು.

So Yahweh smote the Ethiopians, before Asa, and before Judah, —and the Ethiopians fled.

13 ೧೩ ಕೂಷ್ಯರು ಸೋತು ಓಡಿಹೋದಾಗ ಆಸನೂ ಅವನ ಜನರೂ ಗೆರಾರಿನವರೆಗೂ ಅವರನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದರು; ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರೂ ಜೀವದಿಂದುಳಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮತ್ತು ಆತನ ಸೈನ್ಯದ ಮುಂದೆ ನುಚ್ಚು ನೂರಾಗಿ ಹೋದರು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ಅಪರಿಮಿತವಾದ ಕೊಳ್ಳೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿತು.

And Asa and the people that were with him pursued as far as to Gerar, and the Ethiopians fell, so that there was no way for them to recover, for they were routed before Yahweh, and before him host, —and they carried away exceeding much spoil.

14 ೧೪ ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಭಯದಿಂದ ತಬ್ಬಿಬ್ಬಾದ ಗೆರಾರಿನ ಸುತ್ತಣ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ಅವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸುಲಿಗೆಮಾಡಿದರು. ಅವುಗಳಿಂದ ಅವರಿಗೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕೊಳ್ಳೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿತು.

And they smote all the cities round shout Gerar, for the dread of Yahweh was upon them, —and they plundered all the cities, for, great plunder, was there in them.

15 ೧೫ ದನ ಕಾಯುವವರ ಗುಡಾರಗಳ ಮೇಲೂ ದಾಳಿಮಾಡಿ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಒಂಟೆ ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಹೊಡೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದರು.

Moreover also, the tents of the cattle, they smote, —and carried off sheep in abundance, and camels, and returned to Jerusalem.
