マタイの福音書 8
1 イエスが山から降りて来られると、多くの群衆がイエスに従った。
And when he had descended from the mountain, great crowds followed him.
2 すると、ひとりのらい病人がみもとに来て、ひれ伏して言った。「主よ。お心一つで、私をきよめることがおできになります。」
And behold, a leper, drawing near, adored him, saying, “Lord, if you are willing, you are able to cleanse me.”
3 イエスは手を伸ばして、彼にさわり、「わたしの心だ。きよくなれ。」と言われた。すると、すぐに彼のらい病はきよめられた。
And Jesus, extending his hand, touched him, saying: “I am willing. Be cleansed.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4 イエスは彼に言われた。「気をつけて、だれにも話さないようにしなさい。ただ、人々へのあかしのために、行って、自分を祭司に見せなさい。そして、モーセの命じた供え物をささげなさい。」
And Jesus said to him: “See to it that you tell no one. But go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses instructed, as a testimony for them.”
5 イエスがカペナウムにはいられると、ひとりの百人隊長がみもとに来て、懇願して、
And when he had entered into Capernaum, a centurion approached, petitioning him,
6 言った。「主よ。私のしもべが中風やみで、家に寝ていて、ひどく苦しんでおります。」
and saying, “Lord, my servant lies at home paralyzed and badly tormented.”
7 イエスは彼に言われた。「行って、直してあげよう。」
And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”
8 しかし、百人隊長は答えて言った。「主よ。あなたを私の屋根の下にお入れする資格は、私にはありません。ただ、おことばをいただかせてください。そうすれば、私のしもべは直りますから。
And responding, the centurion said: “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant shall be healed.
9 と申しますのは、私も権威の下にある者ですが、私自身の下にも兵士たちがいまして、そのひとりに『行け。』と言えば行きますし、別の者に『来い。』と言えば来ます。また、しもべに『これをせよ。』と言えば、そのとおりにいたします。」
For I, too, am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 イエスは、これを聞いて驚かれ、ついて来た人たちにこう言われた。「まことに、あなたがたに告げます。わたしはイスラエルのうちのだれにも、このような信仰を見たことがありません。
And, hearing this, Jesus wondered. And he said to those following him: “Amen I say to you, I have not found so great a faith in Israel.
11 あなたがたに言いますが、たくさんの人が東からも西からも来て、天の御国で、アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブといっしょに食卓に着きます。
For I say to you, that many shall come from the east and the west, and they shall sit at table with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
12 しかし、御国の子らは外の暗やみに放り出され、そこで泣いて歯ぎしりするのです。」
But the sons of the kingdom shall be cast into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
13 それから、イエスは百人隊長に言われた。「さあ行きなさい。あなたの信じたとおりになるように。」すると、ちょうどその時、そのしもべはいやされた。
And Jesus said to the centurion, “Go, and just as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And the servant was healed at that very hour.
14 それから、イエスは、ペテロの家に来られて、ペテロのしゅうとめが熱病で床に着いているのをご覧になった。
And when Jesus had arrived at the house of Peter, he saw his mother-in-law lying ill with a fever.
15 イエスが手にさわられると、熱がひき、彼女は起きてイエスをもてなした。
And he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose up and ministered to them.
16 夕方になると、人々は悪霊につかれた者を大ぜい、みもとに連れて来た。そこで、イエスはみことばをもって霊どもを追い出し、また病気の人々をみなお直しになった。
And when evening arrived, they brought to him many who had demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word. And he healed all those having maladies,
17 これは、預言者イザヤを通して言われた事が成就するためであった。「彼が私たちのわずらいを身に引き受け、私たちの病を背負った。」
in order to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah, saying, “He took our infirmities, and he carried away our diseases.”
18 さて、イエスは群衆が自分の回りにいるのをご覧になると、向こう岸に行くための用意をお命じになった。
Then Jesus, seeing the great crowds encircling him, gave orders to go across the sea.
19 そこに、ひとりの律法学者が来てこう言った。「先生。私はあなたのおいでになる所なら、どこにでもついてまいります。」
And one scribe, approaching, said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you will go.”
20 すると、イエスは彼に言われた。「狐には穴があり、空の鳥には巣があるが、人の子には枕する所もありません。」
And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have dens, and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of man has nowhere to rest his head.”
21 また、別のひとりの弟子がイエスにこう言った。「主よ。まず行って、私の父を葬ることを許してください。」
Then another of his disciples said to him, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.”
22 ところが、イエスは彼に言われた。「わたしについて来なさい。死人たちに彼らの中の死人たちを葬らせなさい。」
But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and allow the dead to bury their dead.”
23 イエスが舟にお乗りになると、弟子たちも従った。
And climbing into a boat, his disciples followed him.
24 すると、見よ、湖に大暴風が起こって、舟は大波をかぶった。ところが、イエスは眠っておられた。
And behold, a great tempest occurred in the sea, so much so that the boat was covered with waves; yet truly, he was sleeping.
25 弟子たちはイエスのみもとに来て、イエスを起こして言った。「主よ。助けてください。私たちはおぼれそうです。」
And his disciples drew near to him, and they awakened him, saying: “Lord, save us, we are perishing.”
26 イエスは言われた。「なぜこわがるのか、信仰の薄い者たちだ。」それから、起き上がって、風と湖をしかりつけられると、大なぎになった。
And Jesus said to them, “Why are you afraid, O little in faith?” Then rising up, he commanded the winds, and the sea. And a great tranquility occurred.
27 人々は驚いてこう言った。「風や湖までが言うことをきくとは、いったいこの方はどういう方なのだろう。」
Moreover, the men wondered, saying: “What kind of man is this? For even the winds and the sea obey him.”
28 それから、向こう岸のガダラ人の地にお着きになると、悪霊につかれた人がふたり墓から出て来て、イエスに出会った。彼らはひどく狂暴で、だれもその道を通れないほどであった。
And when he had arrived across the sea, into the region of the Gerasenes, he was met by two who had demons, who were so exceedingly savage, as they went out from among the tombs, that no one was able to cross by that way.
29 すると、見よ、彼らはわめいて言った。「神の子よ。いったい私たちに何をしようというのです。まだその時ではないのに、もう私たちを苦しめに来られたのですか。」
And behold, they cried out, saying: “What are we to you, O Jesus, the Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?”
30 ところで、そこからずっと離れた所に、たくさんの豚の群れが飼ってあった。
Now there was, not far from them, a herd of many swine feeding.
31 それで、悪霊どもはイエスに願ってこう言った。「もし私たちを追い出そうとされるのでしたら、どうか豚の群れの中にやってください。」
Then the demons petitioned him, saying: “If you cast us from here, send us into the herd of swine.”
32 イエスは彼らに「行け。」と言われた。すると、彼らは出て行って豚にはいった。すると、見よ、その群れ全体がどっとがけから湖へ駆け降りて行って、水におぼれて死んだ。
And he said to them, “Go.” And they, going out, went into the swine. And behold, the entire herd suddenly rushed along a steep place into the sea. And they died in the waters.
33 飼っていた者たちは逃げ出して町に行き、悪霊につかれた人たちのことなどを残らず知らせた。
Then the shepherds fled, and arriving in the city, they reported on all this, and on those who had had the demons.
34 すると、見よ、町中の者がイエスに会いに出て来た。そして、イエスに会うと、どうかこの地方を立ち去ってくださいと願った。
And behold, the entire city went out to meet Jesus. And having seen him, they petitioned him, so that he would cross from their borders.
