マタイの福音書 5
1 この群衆を見て、イエスは山に登り、おすわりになると、弟子たちがみもとに来た。
And seeing the crowds, he went up onto the mountain, and when he had sat down, his disciples came to him.
2 そこで、イエスは口を開き、彼らに教えて、言われた。
Then he opened his mouth and taught them, saying,
3 「心の貧しい者は幸いです。天の御国はその人のものだからです。
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 悲しむ者は幸いです。その人は慰められるからです。
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5 柔和な者は幸いです。その人は地を相続するからです。
Blessed are the gentle, for they will inherit the earth.
6 義に飢え渇いている者は幸いです。その人は満ち足りるからです。
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they will be filled.
7 あわれみ深い者は幸いです。その人はあわれみを受けるからです。
Blessed are the merciful, for they will obtain mercy.
8 心のきよい者は幸いです。その人は神を見るからです。
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
9 平和をつくる者は幸いです。その人は神の子どもと呼ばれるからです。
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children of God.
10 義のために迫害されている者は幸いです。天の御国はその人のものだからです。
Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 わたしのために、ののしられたり、迫害されたり、また、ありもしないことで悪口雑言を言われたりするとき、あなたがたは幸いです。
"Blessed are you when they insult you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 喜びなさい。喜びおどりなさい。天においてあなたがたの報いは大きいのだから。あなたがたより前に来た預言者たちも、そのように迫害されました。
Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
13 あなたがたは、地の塩です。もし塩が塩けをなくしたら、何によって塩けをつけるのでしょう。もう何の役にも立たず、外に捨てられて、人々に踏みつけられるだけです。
"You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trampled under people's feet.
14 あなたがたは、世界の光です。山の上にある町は隠れる事ができません。
You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 また、あかりをつけて、それを枡の下に置く者はありません。燭台の上に置きます。そうすれば、家にいる人々全部を照らします。
Neither do you light a lamp, and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house.
16 このように、あなたがたの光を人々の前で輝かせ、人々があなたがたの良い行ないを見て、天におられるあなたがたの父をあがめるようにしなさい。
In the same way, let your light shine before people, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
17 わたしが来たのは律法や預言者を廃棄するためだと思ってはなりません。廃棄するためにではなく、成就するために来たのです。
"Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
18 まことに、あなたがたに告げます。天地が滅びうせない限り、律法の中の一点一画でも決してすたれることはありません。全部が成就されます。
For truly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or part of a letter will disappear from the Law, until all things are accomplished.
19 だから、戒めのうち最も小さいものの一つでも、これを破ったり、また破るように人に教えたりする者は、天の御国で、最も小さい者と呼ばれます。しかし、それを守り、また守るように教える者は、天の御国で、偉大な者と呼ばれます。
Therefore, whoever will break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever will do and teach them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 まことに、あなたがたに告げます。もしあなたがたの義が、律法学者やパリサイ人の義にまさるものでないなら、あなたがたは決して天の御国に、はいれません。
For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the kingdom of heaven.
21 昔の人々に、『人を殺してはならない。人を殺す者はさばきを受けなければならない。』と言われたのを、あなたがたは聞いています。
"You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, 'Do not murder;' and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.
22 しかし、わたしはあなたがたに言います。兄弟に向かって腹を立てる者は、だれでもさばきを受けなければなりません。兄弟に向かって『能なし。』と言うような者は、最高議会に引き渡されます。また、『ばか者。』と言うような者は燃えるゲヘナに投げ込まれます。 (Geenna g1067)
But I tell you, that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will be liable to judgment; and whoever will say to his brother, 'Raqa,' will be in danger of the council; and whoever will say, 'You fool,' will be in danger of the fire of Gihana. (Geenna g1067)
23 だから、祭壇の上に供え物をささげようとしているとき、もし兄弟に恨まれていることをそこで思い出したなら、
"If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,
24 供え物はそこに、祭壇の前に置いたままにして、出て行って、まずあなたの兄弟と仲直りをしなさい。それから、来て、その供え物をささげなさい。
leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
25 あなたを告訴する者とは、あなたが彼といっしょに途中にある間に早く仲良くなりなさい。そうでないと、告訴する者は、あなたを裁判官に引き渡し、裁判官は下役に引き渡して、あなたはついに牢に入れられることになります。
Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are with him in the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you be cast into prison.
26 まことに、あなたに告げます。あなたは最後の一コドラントを支払うまでは、そこから出ては来られません。
Truly I tell you, you will never get out of there until you have paid the last penny.
27 『姦淫してはならない。』と言われたのを、あなたがたは聞いています。
"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery;'
28 しかし、わたしはあなたがたに言います。だれでも情欲をいだいて女を見る者は、すでに心の中で姦淫を犯したのです。
but I tell you that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.
And if your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gihana. (Geenna g1067)

31 また『だれでも、妻を離別する者は、妻に離婚状を与えよ。』と言われています。
"And it was said, 'Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce,'
32 しかし、わたしはあなたがたに言います。だれであっても、不貞以外の理由で妻を離別する者は、妻に姦淫を犯させるのです。また、だれでも、離別された女と結婚すれば、姦淫を犯すのです。
but I tell you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is divorced commits adultery.
33 さらにまた、昔の人々に、『偽りの誓いを立ててはならない。あなたの誓ったことを主に果たせ。』と言われていたのを、あなたがたは聞いています。
"Again you have heard that it was said to them of old time, 'Do not make false vows, but fulfill your vows to the Lord.'
34 しかし、わたしはあなたがたに言います。決して誓ってはいけません。すなわち、天をさして誓ってはいけません。そこは神の御座だからです。
But I tell you, do not swear at all, neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;
35 地をさして誓ってもいけません。そこは神の足台だからです。エルサレムをさして誓ってもいけません。そこは偉大な王の都だからです。
nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Urishlim, for it is the city of the great King.
36 あなたの頭をさして誓ってもいけません。あなたは、一本の髪の毛すら、白くも黒くもできないからです。
Neither should you swear by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black.
37 だから、あなたがたは、『はい。』は『はい。』、『いいえ。』は『いいえ。』とだけ言いなさい。それ以上のことは悪いことです。
But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes' and your 'No' be 'No.' Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.
38 『目には目で、歯には歯で。』と言われたのを、あなたがたは聞いています。
"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.'
39 しかし、わたしはあなたがたに言います。悪い者に手向かってはいけません。あなたの右の頬を打つような者には、左の頬も向けなさい。
But I tell you, do not set yourself against the one who is evil. But whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 あなたを告訴して下着を取ろうとする者には、上着もやりなさい。
And if anyone sues you to take away your shirt, let him have your coat also.
41 あなたに一ミリオン行けと強いるような者とは、いっしょに二ミリオン行きなさい。
And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
42 求める者には与え、借りようとする者は断わらないようにしなさい。
Give to him who asks you, and do not turn away him who desires to borrow from you.
43 『自分の隣人を愛し、自分の敵を憎め。』と言われたのを、あなたがたは聞いています。
"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor, and hate your enemy.'
44 しかし、わたしはあなたがたに言います。自分の敵を愛し、迫害する者のために祈りなさい。
But I tell you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you,
45 それでこそ、天におられるあなたがたの父の子どもになれるのです。天の父は、悪い人にも良い人にも太陽を上らせ、正しい人にも正しくない人にも雨を降らせてくださるからです。
that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.
46 自分を愛してくれる者を愛したからといって、何の報いが受けられるでしょう。取税人でも、同じことをしているではありませんか。
For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?
47 また、自分の兄弟にだけあいさつしたからといって、どれだけまさったことをしたのでしょう。異邦人でも同じことをするではありませんか。
And if you only greet your brothers, what more do you do than others? Do not even the non-Jews do the same?
48 だから、あなたがたは、天の父が完全なように、完全でありなさい。
You therefore are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
