マタイの福音書 8
1 第三款 ガリレアに於る種々の奇蹟 イエズス山を下り給ひしに、群衆夥しく從ひしが、
And when he had descended from the mountain, great crowds followed him.
2 折しも、一人の癩病者來り、拝して云ひけるは、主よ、思召ならば我を潔くすることを得給ふ、と。
And behold, a leper, drawing near, adored him, saying, “Lord, if you are willing, you are able to cleanse me.”
3 イエズス、手を伸べて彼に触れ、我意なり潔くなれ、と曰ひければ、其癩病直に潔くなれり。
And Jesus, extending his hand, touched him, saying: “I am willing. Be cleansed.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4 イエズス之に曰ひけるは、慎みて人に語る勿れ、但往きて己を司祭に見せ、彼等への證據として、モイゼの命ぜし禮物を献げよ、と。
And Jesus said to him: “See to it that you tell no one. But go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses instructed, as a testimony for them.”
5 斯てイエズスカファルナウムに入り給ひしが、百夫長近づきて、
And when he had entered into Capernaum, a centurion approached, petitioning him,
6 願ひて云ひけるは、主よ、我僕癱瘋にて家に臥し、甚く苦しめり、と。
and saying, “Lord, my servant lies at home paralyzed and badly tormented.”
7 イエズス、我往きて其を醫さん、と曰ひしかば、
And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”
8 百夫長答へて云ひけるは、主よ、我は不肖にして、主の我屋根の下に入り給ふに足らず、唯一言にて命じ給へ、然らば我僕痊えん。
And responding, the centurion said: “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant shall be healed.
9 蓋我も人の権下に立つ者ながら、部下に兵卒ありて、此に往けと云へば往き、彼に來れ[と云へば]來り、又我僕に是を為せ[と云へば]為すなり、と。
For I, too, am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 イエズス之を聞きて感嘆し、從へる者に曰ひけるは、我誠に汝等に告ぐ、イスラエルの中にても、斯程の信仰に遇ひし事なし。
And, hearing this, Jesus wondered. And he said to those following him: “Amen I say to you, I have not found so great a faith in Israel.
11 我汝等に告ぐ、多くの人東西より來りて、アブラハムイザアクヤコブと共に天國に坐せん、
For I say to you, that many shall come from the east and the west, and they shall sit at table with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
12 然れど國の子等は外の暗に逐出されん、其處には痛哭と切歯とあらん、と。
But the sons of the kingdom shall be cast into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
13 斯てイエズス百夫長に向ひ、往け、汝の信ぜし如く汝に成れ、と曰ひければ僕即時に痊えたり。
And Jesus said to the centurion, “Go, and just as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And the servant was healed at that very hour.
14 イエズスペトロの家に入り給ひて、彼が姑の熱を病みて臥せるを見、
And when Jesus had arrived at the house of Peter, he saw his mother-in-law lying ill with a fever.
15 其手に触れ給ひしかば、熱其身を去り、起きて彼等に給仕したり。
And he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose up and ministered to them.
16 日暮れて後、人々惡魔に憑かれたる者を多く差出ししが、イエズス惡魔を一言にて逐払い、病者をも悉く醫し給へり。
And when evening arrived, they brought to him many who had demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word. And he healed all those having maladies,
17 是預言者イザヤによりて云はれし事の成就せん為なり、曰く「彼は我等の患を受け、我等の病を負ひ給へり」と。
in order to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah, saying, “He took our infirmities, and he carried away our diseases.”
18 イエズス周圍に群衆の夥しきを見て、湖の彼方へ往かん事を命じ給ひしかば、
Then Jesus, seeing the great crowds encircling him, gave orders to go across the sea.
19 一人の律法學士近づきて、師よ、何處へ往き給ふとも我は從はん、と云ひしに、
And one scribe, approaching, said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you will go.”
20 イエズス是に曰ひけるは、狐は穴あり空の鳥は巣あり、然れど人の子は枕する處なし、と。
And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have dens, and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of man has nowhere to rest his head.”
21 又弟子の一人、主よ、我が先往きて父を葬る事を允し給へ、と云ひしに、
Then another of his disciples said to him, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.”
22 イエズス曰ひけるは、我に從へ、死人をして其死人を葬らしめよ、と。
But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and allow the dead to bury their dead.”
23 イエズス小舟に乗り給ひ、弟子等之に從ひしが、
And climbing into a boat, his disciples followed him.
24 折しも湖に大なる暴嵐起りて、小舟涛に蔽はるる程なるに、イエズスは眠り居給へり。
And behold, a great tempest occurred in the sea, so much so that the boat was covered with waves; yet truly, he was sleeping.
25 弟子等近づきて之を起し、主よ、我等を救ひ給へ、我等亡ぶ、と云ひければ、
And his disciples drew near to him, and they awakened him, saying: “Lord, save us, we are perishing.”
26 イエズス彼等に曰ひけるは、何ぞ怖るるや、信仰薄き者よ、と。即起て風と湖とを戒め給ひしに、大凪となれり。
And Jesus said to them, “Why are you afraid, O little in faith?” Then rising up, he commanded the winds, and the sea. And a great tranquility occurred.
27 斯て人々感嘆して、是は何人ぞや、風も湖も是に從ふよ、と云へり。
Moreover, the men wondered, saying: “What kind of man is this? For even the winds and the sea obey him.”
28 イエズス湖の彼方なるゲラサ人の地に至り給ひしに、惡魔に憑かれたる者二人、墓より出でて迎へ來れり。豫てより其猛き事甚しく、誰も其途を過ぎ得ざる程なりしが、
And when he had arrived across the sea, into the region of the Gerasenes, he was met by two who had demons, who were so exceedingly savage, as they went out from among the tombs, that no one was able to cross by that way.
29 忽叫びて云ひけるは、神の御子イエズスよ、我等と汝と何の関係かあらん、期未至らざるに、我等を苦しめんとて此處に來り給へるか、と。
And behold, they cried out, saying: “What are we to you, O Jesus, the Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?”
30 然るに彼等を距る事遠からぬ處に、多くの豚の群物喰ひ居ければ、
Now there was, not far from them, a herd of many swine feeding.
31 惡魔等イエズスに願ひて云ひけるは、若我等を此處より逐払い給はば、豚の群の中に遣り給へ、と。
Then the demons petitioned him, saying: “If you cast us from here, send us into the herd of swine.”
32 イエズス彼等に、往け、と曰ひしかば、彼等出でて豚に憑き、見る見る群皆遽しく、崖より湖に飛入りて水に死せり。
And he said to them, “Go.” And they, going out, went into the swine. And behold, the entire herd suddenly rushed along a steep place into the sea. And they died in the waters.
33 牧者等逃げて町に至り、一切の事と惡魔に憑かれたりし人々の事とを吹聴せしかば、
Then the shepherds fled, and arriving in the city, they reported on all this, and on those who had had the demons.
34 直に町挙りてイエズスを出迎へ、是を見るや其境を過ぎ給はん事を乞へり。
And behold, the entire city went out to meet Jesus. And having seen him, they petitioned him, so that he would cross from their borders.
