申命記 32
1 「天よ、耳を傾けよ、わたしは語る、地よ、わたしの口の言葉を聞け。
Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
2 わたしの教は雨のように降りそそぎ、わたしの言葉は露のようにしたたるであろう。若草の上に降る小雨のように、青草の上にくだる夕立ちのように。
My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:
3 わたしは主の名をのべよう、われわれの神に栄光を帰せよ。
Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.
4 主は岩であって、そのみわざは全く、その道はみな正しい。主は真実なる神であって、偽りなく、義であって、正である。
[He is] the Rock, his work [is] perfect: for all his ways [are] judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right [is] he.
5 彼らは主にむかって悪を行い、そのきずのゆえに、もはや主の子らではなく、よこしまで、曲ったやからである。
They have corrupted themselves, their spot [is] not [the spot] of his children: [they are] a perverse and crooked generation.
6 愚かな知恵のない民よ、あなたがたはこのようにして主に報いるのか。主はあなたを生み、あなたを造り、あなたを堅く立てられたあなたの父ではないか。
Do ye thus requite the LORD, O foolish people and unwise? [is] not he thy father [that] hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee?
7 いにしえの日を覚え、代々の年を思え。あなたの父に問え、彼はあなたに告げるであろう。長老たちに問え、彼らはあなたに語るであろう。
Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.
8 いと高き者は人の子らを分け、諸国民にその嗣業を与えられたとき、イスラエルの子らの数に照して、もろもろの民の境を定められた。
When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.
9 主の分はその民であって、ヤコブはその定められた嗣業である。
For the LORD’s portion [is] his people; Jacob [is] the lot of his inheritance.
10 主はこれを荒野の地で見いだし、獣のほえる荒れ地で会い、これを巡り囲んでいたわり、目のひとみのように守られた。
He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.
11 わしがその巣のひなを呼び起し、その子の上に舞いかけり、その羽をひろげて彼らをのせ、そのつばさの上にこれを負うように、
As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:
12 主はただひとりで彼を導かれて、ほかの神々はあずからなかった。
[So] the LORD alone did lead him, and [there was] no strange god with him.
13 主は彼に地の高き所を乗り通らせ、田畑の産物を食わせ、岩の中から蜜を吸わせ、堅い岩から油を吸わせ、
He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;
14 牛の凝乳、羊の乳、小羊と雄羊の脂肪、バシャンの牛と雄やぎ、小麦の良い物を食わせられた。またあなたはぶどうのしるのあわ立つ酒を飲んだ。
Butter of kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and thou didst drink the pure blood of the grape.
15 しかるにエシュルンは肥え太って、足でけった。あなたは肥え太って、つややかになり、自分を造った神を捨て、救の岩を侮った。
But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered [with fatness; ] then he forsook God [which] made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.
16 彼らはほかの神々に仕えて、主のねたみを起し、憎むべきおこないをもって主の怒りをひき起した。
They provoked him to jealousy with strange [gods], with abominations provoked they him to anger.
17 彼らは神でもない悪霊に犠牲をささげた。それは彼らがかつて知らなかった神々、近ごろ出た新しい神々、先祖たちの恐れることもしなかった者である。
They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new [gods that] came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.
18 あなたは自分を生んだ岩を軽んじ、自分を造った神を忘れた。
Of the Rock [that] begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.
19 主はこれを見、そのむすこ、娘を怒ってそれを捨てられた。
And when the LORD saw [it], he abhorred [them], because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters.
20 そして言われた、『わたしはわたしの顔を彼らに隠そう。わたしは彼らの終りがどうなるかを見よう。彼らはそむき、もとるやから、真実のない子らである。
And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end [shall be: ] for they [are] a very froward generation, children in whom [is] no faith.
21 彼らは神でもない者をもって、わたしにねたみを起させ、偶像をもって、わたしを怒らせた。それゆえ、わたしは民ともいえない者をもって、彼らにねたみを起させ、愚かな民をもって、彼らを怒らせるであろう。
They have moved me to jealousy with [that which is] not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with [those which are] not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.
For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains. (Sheol h7585)
23 わたしは彼らの上に災を積みかさね、わたしの矢を彼らにむかって射つくすであろう。
I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them.
24 彼らは飢えて、やせ衰え、熱病と悪い疫病によって滅びるであろう。わたしは彼らを獣の歯にかからせ、地に這うものの毒にあたらせるであろう。
[They shall be] burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.
25 外にはつるぎ、内には恐れがあって、若き男も若き女も、乳のみ子も、しらがの人も滅びるであろう。
The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling [also] with the man of gray hairs.
26 わたしはまさに言おうとした、「彼らを遠く散らし、彼らの事を人々が記憶しないようにしよう」。
I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men:
27 しかし、わたしは敵が誇るのを恐れる。あだびとはまちがえて言うであろう、「われわれの手が勝ちをえたのだ。これはみな主がされたことではない」』。
Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely, [and] lest they should say, Our hand [is] high, and the LORD hath not done all this.
28 彼らは思慮の欠けた民、そのうちには知識がない。
For they [are] a nation void of counsel, neither [is there any] understanding in them.
29 もし、彼らに知恵があれば、これをさとり、その身の終りをわきまえたであろうに。
O that they were wise, [that] they understood this, [that] they would consider their latter end!
30 彼らの岩が彼らを売らず、主が彼らをわたされなかったならば、どうして、ひとりで千人を追い、ふたりで万人を敗ることができたであろう。
How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?
31 彼らの岩はわれらの岩に及ばない。われらの敵もこれを認めている。
For their rock [is] not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves [being] judges.
32 彼らのぶどうの木は、ソドムのぶどうの木から出たもの、またゴモラの野から出たもの、そのぶどうは毒ぶどう、そのふさは苦い。
For their vine [is] of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes [are] grapes of gall, their clusters [are] bitter:
33 そのぶどう酒はへびの毒のよう、まむしの恐ろしい毒のようである。
Their wine [is] the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.
34 これはわたしのもとにたくわえられ、わたしの倉に封じ込められているではないか。
[Is] not this laid up in store with me, [and] sealed up among my treasures?
35 彼らの足がすべるとき、わたしはあだを返し、報いをするであろう。彼らの災の日は近く、彼らの破滅は、すみやかに来るであろう。
To me [belongeth] vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in [due] time: for the day of their calamity [is] at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.
36 主はついにその民をさばき、そのしもべらにあわれみを加えられるであろう。これは彼らの力がうせ去り、つながれた者もつながれない者も、もはやいなくなったのを、主が見られるからである。
For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he seeth that [their] power is gone, and [there is] none shut up, or left.
37 そのとき主は言われるであろう、『彼らの神々はどこにいるか、彼らの頼みとした岩はどこにあるか。
And he shall say, Where [are] their gods, [their] rock in whom they trusted,
38 彼らの犠牲のあぶらを食い、灌祭の酒を飲んだ者はどこにいるか。立ちあがってあなたがたを助けさせよ、あなたがたを守らせよ。
Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, [and] drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, [and] be your protection.
39 今見よ、わたしこそは彼である。わたしのほかに神はない。わたしは殺し、また生かし、傷つけ、またいやす。わたしの手から救い出しうるものはない。
See now that I, [even] I, [am] he, and [there is] no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither [is there any] that can deliver out of my hand.
40 わたしは天にむかい手をあげて誓う、「わたしは永遠に生きる。
For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever.
41 わたしがきらめくつるぎをとぎ、手にさばきを握るとき、わたしは敵にあだを返し、わたしを憎む者に報復するであろう。
If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me.
42 わたしの矢を血に酔わせ、わたしのつるぎに肉を食わせるであろう。殺された者と捕えられた者の血を飲ませ、敵の長髪の頭の肉を食わせるであろう」』。
I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; [and that] with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy.
43 国々の民よ、主の民のために喜び歌え。主はそのしもべの血のために報復し、その敵にあだを返し、その民の地の汚れを清められるからである」。
Rejoice, O ye nations, [with] his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, [and] to his people.
44 モーセとヌンの子ヨシュアは共に行って、この歌の言葉を、ことごとく民に読み聞かせた。
And Moses came and spake all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he, and Hoshea the son of Nun.
45 モーセはこの言葉を、ことごとくイスラエルのすべての人に告げ終って、
And Moses made an end of speaking all these words to all Israel:
46 彼らに言った、「あなたがたはわたしが、きょう、あなたがたに命じるこのすべての言葉を心におさめ、子供たちにもこの律法のすべての言葉を守り行うことを命じなければならない。
And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.
47 この言葉はあなたがたにとって、むなしい言葉ではない。これはあなたがたのいのちである。この言葉により、あなたがたはヨルダンを渡って行って取る地で、長く命を保つことができるであろう」。
For it [is] not a vain thing for you; because it [is] your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong [your] days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.
48 この日、主はモーセに言われた、
And the LORD spake unto Moses that selfsame day, saying,
49 「あなたはエリコに対するモアブの地にあるアバリム山すなわちネボ山に登り、わたしがイスラエルの人々に与えて獲させるカナンの地を見渡たせ。
Get thee up into this mountain Abarim, [unto] mount Nebo, which [is] in the land of Moab, that [is] over against Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession:
50 あなたは登って行くその山で死に、あなたの民に連なるであろう。あなたの兄弟アロンがホル山で死んでその民に連なったようになるであろう。
And die in the mount whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy people; as Aaron thy brother died in mount Hor, and was gathered unto his people:
51 これはあなたがたがチンの荒野にあるメリバテ・カデシの水のほとりで、イスラエルの人々のうちでわたしにそむき、イスラエルの人々のうちでわたしを聖なるものとして敬わなかったからである。
Because ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye sanctified me not in the midst of the children of Israel.
52 それであなたはわたしがイスラエルの人々に与える地を、目の前に見るであろう。しかし、その地に、はいることはできない」。
Yet thou shalt see the land before [thee; ] but thou shalt not go thither unto the land which I give the children of Israel.
