サムエル記Ⅱ 23
1 これはダビデの最後の言葉である。エッサイの子ダビデの託宣、すなわち高く挙げられた人、ヤコブの神に油を注がれた人、イスラエルの良き歌びとの託宣。
Now these are the last words of David. David the son of Jesse says, the man whom God raised up, the anointed of the God of Jacob, the sweet psalmist of Israel:
2 「主の霊はわたしによって語る、その言葉はわたしの舌の上にある。
"The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me. His word was on my tongue.
3 イスラエルの神は語られた、イスラエルの岩はわたしに言われた、『人を正しく治める者、神を恐れて、治める者は、
The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me, 'One who rules over men righteously, who rules in the fear of God,
4 朝の光のように、雲のない朝に、輝きでる太陽のように、地に若草を芽ばえさせる雨のように人に臨む』。
shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun rises, a morning without clouds, when the tender grass springs out of the earth, through clear shining after rain.'
5 まことに、わが家はそのように、神と共にあるではないか。それは、神が、よろず備わって確かなとこしえの契約をわたしと結ばれたからだ。どうして彼はわたしの救と願いを、皆なしとげられぬことがあろうか。
Most certainly my house is not so with God, yet he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure, for it is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he doesn't make it grow.
6 しかし、よこしまな人は、いばらのようで、手をもって取ることができないゆえ、みな共に捨てられるであろう。
But all of the ungodly shall be as thorns to be thrust away, because they can't be taken with the hand,
7 これに触れようとする人は鉄や、やりの柄をもって武装する、彼らはことごとく火で焼かれるであろう」。
But the man who touches them must be armed with iron and the staff of a spear. They shall be utterly burned with fire in their place."
8 ダビデの勇士たちの名は次のとおりである。タクモンびとヨセブ・バッセベテはかの三人のうちの長であったが、彼はいちじに八百人に向かって、やりをふるい、それを殺した。
These are the names of the warriors whom David had: Jeshbaal the son of Hachmoni, leader of the Three. He wielded his spear against eight hundred whom he killed at one time.
9 彼の次はアホアびとドドの子エレアザルであって、三勇士のひとりである。彼は、戦おうとしてそこに集まったペリシテびとに向かって戦いをいどみ、イスラエルの人々が退いた時、ダビデと共にいたが、
After him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, one of the Three warriors. He was with David in Pas Dammim when they defied the Philistines who were gathered there for battle, and the men of Israel had retreated.
10 立ってペリシテびとを撃ち、ついに手が疲れ、手がつるぎに着いて離れないほどになった。その日、主は大いなる勝利を与えられた。民は彼のあとに帰ってきて、ただ殺された者をはぎ取るばかりであった。
He arose, and struck the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand froze to the sword; and the LORD worked a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to take spoil.
11 彼の次はハラルびとアゲの子シャンマであった。ある時、ペリシテびとはレヒに集まった。そこに一面にレンズ豆を作った地所があった。民はペリシテびとの前から逃げたが、
After him was Shamma the son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines were gathered together at Lehi, where there was a plot of ground full of lentils; and the people fled from the Philistines.
12 彼はその地所の中に立って、これを防ぎ、ペリシテびとを殺した。そして主は大いなる救を与えられた。
But he stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and killed the Philistines; and the LORD worked a great victory.
13 三十人の長たちのうちの三人は下って行って刈入れのころに、アドラムのほら穴にいるダビデのもとにきた。時にペリシテびとの一隊はレパイムの谷に陣を取っていた。
And three of the Thirty chief men went down, and came to David in the harvest time to the cave of Adullam; and the troop of the Philistines was camped in the Valley of Rephaim.
14 その時ダビデは要害におり、ペリシテびとの先陣はベツレヘムにあったが、
David was then in the stronghold; and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.
15 ダビデは、せつに望んで、「だれかベツレヘムの門のかたわらにある井戸の水をわたしに飲ませてくれるとよいのだが」と言った。
And David had a craving and said, "Oh that one would give me water to drink of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate."
16 そこでその三人の勇士たちはペリシテびとの陣を突き通って、ベツレヘムの門のかたわらにある井戸の水を汲み取って、ダビデのもとに携えてきた。しかしダビデはそれを飲もうとはせず、主の前にそれを注いで、
The Three warriors broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but he would not drink of it, but poured it out to the LORD.
17 言った、「主よ、わたしは断じて飲むことをいたしません。いのちをかけて行った人々の血を、どうしてわたしは飲むことができましょう」。こうして彼はそれを飲もうとはしなかった。三勇士はこれらのことを行った。
He said, "Far be it from me, LORD, that I should do this. Shall I drink the blood of the men who went in jeopardy of their lives?" Therefore he would not drink it. The Three warriors did these things.
18 ゼルヤの子ヨアブの兄弟アビシャイは三十人の長であった。彼は三百人に向かって、やりをふるい、それを殺した。そして、彼は三人と共に名を得た。
And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was leader of the Thirty. And he wielded his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name beside the Three.
19 彼は三十人のうち最も尊ばれた者で、彼らの長となった。しかし、かの三人には及ばなかった。
He was the most illustrious of the Thirty, and he became their leader. However he did not attain to the Three.
20 エホヤダの子ベナヤはカブジエル出身の勇士であって、多くのてがらを立てた。彼はモアブのアリエルのふたりの子を撃ち殺した。彼はまた雪の日に下っていって、穴の中でししを撃ち殺した。
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was a valiant man of Kabzeel, who performed great deeds. He killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow.
21 彼はまた姿のうるわしいエジプトびとを撃ち殺した。そのエジプトびとは手にやりを持っていたが、ベナヤはつえをとってその所に下っていき、エジプトびとの手からやりをもぎとって、そのやりをもって殺した。
He killed an Egyptian, a man of great stature. And the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and grabbed the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and killed him with his own spear.
22 エホヤダの子ベナヤはこれらの事をして三勇士と共に名を得た。
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things, and had a name among the Three warriors.
23 彼は三十人のうちに有名であったが、かの三人には及ばなかった。ダビデは彼を侍衛の長とした。
He was more honored than the Thirty, but he did not attain to the Three. David set him over his guard.
24 三十人のうちにあったのは、ヨアブの兄弟アサヘル。ベツレヘム出身のドドの子エルハナン。
Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the Thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo from Bethlehem,
25 ハロデ出身のシャンマ。ハロデ出身のエリカ。
Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,
26 パルテびとヘレヅ。テコア出身のイッケシの子イラ。
Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,
27 アナトテ出身のアビエゼル。ホシャびとメブンナイ。
Abiezer the Anathothite, Sibbekai the Hushathite,
28 アホアびとザルモン。ネトパ出身のマハライ。
Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,
29 ネトパ出身のバアナの子ヘレブ。ベニヤミンびとのギベアから出たリバイの子イッタイ。
Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the people of Benjamin,
30 ピラトンのベナヤ。ガアシの谷出身のヒダイ。
Benaiah a Pirathonite, Hiddai of Nahale Gaash.
31 アルバテびとアビアルボン。バホリム出身のアズマウテ。
Abiel son of the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Bahurimite,
32 シャルボン出身のエリヤバ。ヤセンの子たち。ヨナタン。
Eliahba the Shaalbinite, Jashen the Gizonite,
33 ハラルびとシャンマ。ハラルびとシャラルの子アヒアム。
Jonathan son of Shamma the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sakar the Hararite,
34 マアカ出身のアハスバイの子エリペレテ。ギロ出身のアヒトペルの子エリアム。
Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai the Maacathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,
35 カルメル出身のヘヅロ。アルバびとパアライ。
Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,
36 ゾバ出身のナタンの子イガル。ガドびとバニ。
Igal the son of Nathan, from the army of the Hagrites,
37 アンモンびとゼレク。ゼルヤの子ヨアブの武器を執る者、ベエロテ出身のナハライ。
Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, armor bearer to Joab the son of Zeruiah,
38 イテルびとイラ。イテルびとガレブ。
Ira the Jattirite, Gareb the Jattirite,
39 ヘテびとウリヤ。合わせて三十七人である。
Uriah the Hethite: thirty-seven in all.
