ヨハネの福音書 12
1 それから，過ぎ越しの六日前，イエスはベタニアに来た。死んでいた者で，彼が死んだ者たちの中から生き返らせたラザロがいた所である。
Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.
2 そこで彼らは彼に夕食を用意した。マルタが給仕していたが，ラザロは彼と共に食卓に着いていた者たちの一人であった。
So they made him a supper there. Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with him.
3 そこでマリアは，非常に高価な純正のナルド香油一ポンドを取り，イエスの両足に塗り，自分の髪で彼の両足をぬぐった。家は香油の香りでいっぱいになった。
Therefore Mary took a pound of ointment of pure nard, very precious, and anointed Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.
4 そこで，弟子の一人で，彼を売り渡そうとしていたシモンの子ユダ・イスカリオトが言った，
Then Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, one of his disciples, who would betray him, said,
5 「なぜこの香油を三百デナリで売って，貧しい人々に施さなかったのか」。
“Why wasn’t this ointment sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?”
6 ところで，彼がこのことを言ったのは，貧しい人々のことを気にかけていたからではなく，彼が盗人であり，金箱を持っていたが，そこに入れられるものを盗んでいたからであった。
Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the money box, used to steal what was put into it.
7 しかしイエスは言った，「彼女をそのままにしておきなさい。彼女はわたしの埋葬の日のためにこのことを守ったのだ。
But Jesus said, “Leave her alone. She has kept this for the day of my burial.
8 あなた方には，貧しい人々はいつでも一緒にいるが，わたしはいつでもいるわけではないからだ」 。
For you always have the poor with you, but you don’t always have me.”
9 それで，ユダヤ人たちからなる大群衆は，彼がそこにいるのを知って，やって来た。それはイエスのためだけでなく，死んだ者たちの中から生き返らされたラザロを見るためでもあった。
A large crowd therefore of the Jews learnt that he was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.
10 しかし祭司長たちたちはラザロをも殺そうと陰謀を企てた。
But the chief priests conspired to put Lazarus to death also,
11 彼のために大勢のユダヤ人たちが去って行き，イエスを信じたからであった。
because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.
12 次の日，大群衆が祭りに来ていた。彼らはイエスがエルサレムに来ようとしていることを聞くと，
On the next day a great multitude had come to the feast. When they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13 ヤシの木の枝を取り，彼を出迎えるために出て行き，叫んで言った，「ホサンナ！ 主の名において来る者，イスラエルの王は幸いだ！」
they took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet him, and cried out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel!”
14 イエスは，子ロバを見つけて，それに座った。こう書いてあるとおりである，
Jesus, having found a young donkey, sat on it. As it is written,
15 「シオンの娘よ，恐れてはならない。見よ，あなたの王が来る。ロバの子に乗って」。
“Don’t be afraid, daughter of Zion. Behold, your King comes, sitting on a donkey’s colt.”
16 弟子たちはこれらの事を初めは理解しなかったが，イエスが栄光を受けた時，その時にこれらの事が彼について書かれていたこと，そして人々が彼にこれらの事を行なったということを思い出した。
His disciples didn’t understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about him, and that they had done these things to him.
17 それで，彼がラザロを墓から呼び出して死んだ者たちの中から生き返らせた時に，彼と共にいた群衆は，そのことについて証言した。
The multitude therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead was testifying about it.
18 この理由のためにも，群衆は来て彼を出迎えた。彼がこのしるしを行なったことを聞いたからである。
For this cause also the multitude went and met him, because they heard that he had done this sign.
19 それでファリサイ人たちは互いに言い合った，「あなた方が何も成し遂げていないのを見なさい。見よ，世は彼を追って行ってしまった」。
The Pharisees therefore said amongst themselves, “See how you accomplish nothing. Behold, the world has gone after him.”
20 ところで，祭りの際に崇拝のために上ってきた者たちの中に，あるギリシャ人たちがいた。
Now there were certain Greeks amongst those who went up to worship at the feast.
21 それでこれらの人たちは，ガリラヤのベツサイダ出身のフィリポのところに来て，「イエスにお目にかかりたいのですが」と言って彼に頼んだ。
Therefore, these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, “Sir, we want to see Jesus.”
22 フィリポはやって来てアンデレに告げ，アンデレはフィリポと共に来て，彼らはイエスに告げた。
Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn, Andrew came with Philip, and they told Jesus.
23 イエスは彼らに答えた，「人の子が栄光を受ける時が来た。
Jesus answered them, “The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.
24 本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。一粒の小麦は地に落ちて死ななければ，それはそのままで残る。しかしそれが死ぬなら，たくさんの実を生み出す。
Most certainly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit.
He who loves his life will lose it. He who hates his life in this world will keep it to eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
26 だれでもわたしに仕えるなら，その者はわたしに従いなさい。わたしがいる所，そこにわたしに仕える者もいることになる。だれでもわたしに仕えるなら，父はその者を尊んでくださる。
If anyone serves me, let him follow me. Where I am, there my servant will also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honour him.
27 「今，わたしの魂は騒ぐ。わたしは何と言おうか。『父よ，わたしをこの時から救ってください』と言おうか。だが，この理由のためにわたしはこの時に至ったのだ。
“Now my soul is troubled. What shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this time’? But I came to this time for this cause.
28 父よ，あなたのみ名の栄光をお示しください！」 すると天から声が出て，こう言った。「わたしはその栄光を現わした。そして再び栄光を現わそう」。
Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came out of the sky, saying, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.”
29 そのため，そばに立っていてそれを聞いた群衆は，雷が鳴ったのだと言った。他の者たちは，「み使いが彼に話したのだ」と言った。
Therefore the multitude who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.”
30 イエスは答えた，「この声は，わたしのためではなく，あなた方のために来た。
Jesus answered, “This voice hasn’t come for my sake, but for your sakes.
31 今こそ，この世の裁きの時だ。今，この世の支配者は投げ出されることになる。
Now is the judgement of this world. Now the prince of this world will be cast out.
32 そしてわたしは，自分が世から挙げられるなら，すべての人をわたしへ引き寄せるだろう」 。
And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”
33 しかし，自分がどんな形で死ぬことになっているかを示そうとして，彼はこのことを言ったのである。
But he said this, signifying by what kind of death he should die.
34 群衆は彼に答えた，「わたしたちは律法から，キリストが永遠にとどまることを聞いています。あなたが，『人の子は挙げられなければならない』 と言われるのはどうしてですか。この人の子とはだれなのですか」。 (aiōn g165)
The multitude answered him, “We have heard out of the law that the Christ remains forever. How do you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?” (aiōn g165)
35 それでイエスは彼らに言った，「もう少しの間，光はあなた方と共にある。闇があなた方に追いつかないために，自分たちに光があるうちに歩きなさい。闇の中を歩く者は，自分がどこに行こうとしているのかを知らない。
Jesus therefore said to them, “Yet a little while the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, that darkness doesn’t overtake you. He who walks in the darkness doesn’t know where he is going.
36 あなた方が光の子らとなるために，自分たちに光があるうちに光を信じなさい」 。イエスはこれらの事を言ってから立ち去り，彼らから身を隠した。
While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become children of light.” Jesus said these things, and he departed and hid himself from them.
37 しかし，彼は人々の前で多くのしるしを行なったのに，人々は彼らを信じなかった。
But though he had done so many signs before them, yet they didn’t believe in him,
38 それは，預言者イザヤの言葉が実現するためであった。彼はこう言った。 「主よ，だれがわたしたちの知らせを信じたでしょうか。だれに主のみ腕が示されたでしょうか」。
that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke: “Lord, who has believed our report? To whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”
39 この理由で彼らは信じなかった。イザヤはまたこう言ったからである。
For this cause they couldn’t believe, for Isaiah said again:
40 「彼は彼らの目を見えなくし，彼らの心を堅くした。彼らが目で見ず，心で理解せず，立ち返らず，わたしが彼らをいやすことがないためである」。
“He has blinded their eyes and he hardened their heart, lest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, and would turn, and I would heal them.”
41 イザヤは彼の栄光を見たのでこうした事を言ったのであり，彼について語ったのである。
Isaiah said these things when he saw his glory, and spoke of him.
42 それでも，支配者たちでさえ多くの者が彼を信じた。しかし，ファリサイ人たちのために，彼らはそれを告白しなかった。会堂から追放されないようにするためであった。
Nevertheless, even many of the rulers believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they didn’t confess it, so that they wouldn’t be put out of the synagogue,
43 彼らは神の賞賛よりも人の賞賛を愛したからである。
for they loved men’s praise more than God’s praise.
44 イエスは叫んで言った，「わたしを信じる者は，わたしではなく，わたしを遣わした方を信じている。
Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me, but in him who sent me.
45 わたしを見る者はわたしを遣わした方を見ている。
He who sees me sees him who sent me.
46 わたしは光として世に来ている。わたしを信じる者が闇の中にとどまらないようにするためだ。
I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness.
47 だれかがわたしの言うことに耳を傾けたのに信じなくても，わたしはその者を裁かない。わたしは世を裁くためではなく，世を救うために来たからだ。
If anyone listens to my sayings and doesn’t believe, I don’t judge him. For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
48 わたしを拒み，わたしの言うことを受け入れない者には，その者を裁く方がおられる。わたしの話したその言葉が，終わりの日に彼を裁くだろう。
He who rejects me, and doesn’t receive my sayings, has one who judges him. The word that I spoke will judge him in the last day.
49 わたしは自分からではなく，わたしを遣わされた父から話しているのであり，わたしが何を言うべきか，また何を話すべきか，その方がわたしにおきてを与えられたからだ。
For I spoke not from myself, but the Father who sent me gave me a commandment, what I should say and what I should speak.
