Giosué 1
1 Or avvenne, dopo la morte di Mosè, servo dell’Eterno, che l’Eterno parlò a Giosuè, figliuolo di Nun, ministro di Mosè, e gli disse:
Nowe after the death of Moses the seruant of the Lord, the Lord spake vnto Ioshua the sonne of Nun, Moses minister, saying,
2 “Mosè, mio servo è morto; or dunque lèvati, passa questo Giordano, tu con tutto questo popolo, per entrare nel paese che io do ai figliuoli d’Israele.
Moses my seruant is dead: nowe therefore arise, go ouer this Iorden, thou, and all this people, vnto the lande which I giue them, that is, to ye children of Israel.
3 Ogni luogo che la pianta del vostro piede calcherà, io ve lo do, come ho detto a Mosè,
Euery place that the sole of your foote shall treade vpon, haue I giuen you, as I said vnto Moses.
4 dal deserto, e dal Libano che vedi là, sino al gran fiume, il fiume Eufrate, tutto il paese degli Hittei sino al mar grande, verso occidente: quello sarà il vostro territorio.
From the wildernesse and this Lebanon euen vnto the great riuer, the riuer Perath: all the land of the Hittites, euen vnto the great Sea towarde the going downe of the sunne, shalbe your coast.
5 Nessuno ti potrà stare a fronte tutti i giorni della tua vita; come sono stato con Mosè, così sarò teco; io non ti lascerò e non ti abbandonerò.
There shall not a man be able to withstande thee all the dayes of thy life: as I was with Moses, so will I be with thee: I will not leaue thee, nor forsake thee.
6 Sii forte e fatti animo, perché tu metterai questo popolo in possesso del paese che giurai ai loro padri di dare ad essi.
Be strong and of a good courage: for vnto this people shalt thou deuide the lande for an inheritance, which I sware vnto their fathers to giue them.
7 Solo sii forte e fatti risolutamente animo, avendo cura di mettere in pratica tutta la legge che Mosè, mio servo, t’ha data; non te ne sviare né a destra né a sinistra, affinché tu prosperi dovunque andrai.
Onely be thou strong, and of a most valiant courage, that thou mayest obserue and doe according to all the Lawe which Moses my seruant hath commanded thee: thou shalt not turne away from it to the right hande, nor to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoeuer thou goest.
8 Questo libro della legge non si diparta mai dalla tua bocca, ma meditalo giorno e notte, avendo cura di mettere in pratica tutto ciò che v’è scritto; poiché allora riuscirai in tutte le tue imprese, allora prospererai.
Let not this booke of the Law depart out of thy mouth, but meditate therin day and night, that thou mayest obserue and doe according to all that is written therein: for then shalt thou make thy way prosperous, and then shalt thou haue good successe.
9 Non te l’ho io comandato? Sii forte e fatti animo; non ti spaventare e non ti sgomentare, perché l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, sarà teco dovunque andrai”.
Haue not I commanded thee, saying, Be strong and of a good courage, feare not, nor be discouraged? for I the Lord thy God will be with thee, whithersoeuer thou goest.
10 Allora Giosuè diede quest’ordine agli ufficiali del popolo:
Then Ioshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,
11 “Passate per mezzo al campo, e date quest’ordine al popolo: Preparatevi dei viveri, perché di qui a tre giorni passerete questo Giordano per andare a conquistare il paese che l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, vi dà perché lo possediate”.
Passe through the hoste, and commande the people, saying, Prepare you vitailes: for after three dayes ye shall passe ouer this Iorden, to goe in to possesse the lande, which the Lord your God giueth you to possesse it.
12 Giosuè parlò pure ai Rubeniti, ai Gaditi e alla mezza tribù di Manasse, e disse loro:
And vnto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to halfe the tribe of Manasseh spake Ioshua, saying,
13 “Ricordatevi dell’ordine che Mosè, servo dell’Eterno, vi dette quando vi disse: L’Eterno, il vostro Dio, vi ha concesso requie, e vi ha dato questo paese.
Remember the worde, which Moses the seruant of the Lord commanded you, saying, The Lord your God hath giuen you rest, and hath giuen you this land.
14 Le vostre mogli, i vostri piccini e il vostro bestiame rimarranno nel paese che Mosè vi ha dato di qua dal Giordano; ma voi tutti che siete forti e valorosi passerete in armi alla testa de’ vostri fratelli e li aiuterete,
Your wiues, your children, and your cattell shall remaine in the land which Moses gaue you on this side Iorden: but ye shall goe ouer before your brethren armed, all that be men of warre, and shall helpe them,
15 finché l’Eterno abbia concesso requie ai vostri fratelli come a voi, e siano anch’essi in possesso del paese che l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, dà loro. Poi tornerete al paese che vi appartiene, il quale Mosè, servo dell’Eterno, vi ha dato di qua dal Giordano verso il levante, e ne prenderete possesso”.
Vntill the Lord haue giuen your brethren rest, as well as to you, and vntill they also shall possesse the land, which the Lord your God giueth them: then shall ye returne vnto the lande of your possession and shall possesse it, which land Moses the Lordes seruant gaue you on this side Iorden toward the sunne rising.
16 E quelli risposero a Giosuè, dicendo: “Noi faremo tutto quello che ci hai comandato, e andremo dovunque ci manderai;
Then they answered Ioshua, saying, Al that thou hast commanded vs, we will doe, and whithersoeuer thou sendest vs, we will goe.
17 ti ubbidiremo interamente, come abbiamo ubbidito a Mosè. Solamente, sia teco l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, com’è stato con Mosè!
As we obeyed Moses in all things, so will we obey thee: onely the Lord thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.
18 Chiunque sarà ribelle ai tuoi ordini e non ubbidirà alle tue parole, qualunque sia la cosa che gli comanderai, sarà messo a morte. Solo sii forte e fatti animo!”
Whosoeuer shall rebell against thy commandement, and will not obey thy wordes in all that thou commaundest him, let him bee put to death: onely be strong and of good courage.
