Salmi 22

1 Salmo di Davide, [dato] al Capo de' Musici, sopra Aielet-hassahar DIO mio, Dio mio, perchè mi hai lasciato? [Perchè stai] lontano dalla mia salute, [e dalle] parole del mio ruggire?

“To the chief musician upon Ayeleth-hashachar, a psalm of David.” My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from saving me, and from the words of my loud complaint?

2 O Dio mio, io grido di giorno, e tu non rispondi; Di notte ancora, e non ho posa alcuna.

O my God! I call in the day-time, but thou answerest not; and in the night I find no rest.

3 E pur tu [sei] il Santo, Il Permanente, le lodi d'Israele.

But thou art holy, O thou that dwellest amidst the praises of Israel.

4 I nostri padri si son confidati in te; Si son confidati [in te], e tu li hai liberati.

In thee did our fathers trust: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.

5 Gridarono a te, e furon liberati; In te si confidarono, e non furon confusi.

Unto thee they cried, and were delivered: in thee they trusted, and were not put to shame.

6 Ma io [sono] un verme, e non un uomo; Il vituperio degli uomini, e lo sprezzato fra il popolo.

But I am a worm, and not a man, a reproach of men, and despised of people.

7 Chiunque mi vede, si beffa di me, [Mi] stende il labbro, [e] scuote il capo;

All those who see me laugh me to scorn: they draw open their lips, they shake their head, [saying, ]

8 [Dicendo: ] Egli si rimette nel Signore; liberilo dunque; Riscuotalo, poichè egli lo gradisce.

“Let him throw himself on the Lord, that he may deliver him: he will save him, for he delighteth in him.”

9 Certo, tu [sei quel] che mi hai tratto fuor del seno; Tu mi hai affidato [da che io era] alle mammelle di mia madre.

Yea, thou art he that took me from the womb: thou hast been my trust when I hung on my mother's breasts.

10 Io fui gettato sopra te dalla matrice; Tu [sei] il mio Dio fin dal seno di mia madre.

Upon thee was I cast from my birth: from my mother's womb art thou my God.

11 Non allontanarti da me; perciocchè l'angoscia [è] vicina, E non [vi è] alcuno che [mi] aiuti.

Oh be not far from me [now]; for distress is near; for there is none to help.

12 Grandi tori mi hanno circondato; Possenti tori di Basan mi hanno intorniato;

Many steers have encompassed me: the strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.

13 Hanno aperta la lor gola contro a me, [Come] un leone rapace e ruggente.

They have opened wide against me their mouth, [as] a ravenous and roaring lion.

14 Io mi scolo come acqua, E tutte le mie ossa si scommettono; Il mio cuore è come cera, [E] si strugge nel mezzo delle mie interiora.

Like water am I poured out, and all my bones are disjointed: my heart is become like wax, it is melted in the midst of my entrails.

15 Il mio vigore è asciutto come un testo, E la mia lingua è attaccata alla mia gola; Tu mi hai posto nella polvere della morte.

Like a potsherd is my strength dried up; and my tongue cleaveth to my palate; and into the dust of death hast thou laid me down.

16 Perciocchè cani mi hanno circondato; Uno stuolo di maligni mi ha intorniato; Essi mi hanno forate le mani ed i piedi.

For dogs have encompassed me; the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: like lions [they threaten] my hands and my feet.

17 Io posso contar tutte le mie ossa; Essi mi riguardano, [e] mi considerano.

I may number all my bones: [while] they stare and look upon me.

18 Si spartiscono fra loro i miei vestimenti, E tranno la sorte sopra la mia vesta.

They divide my clothes among themselves, and for my garment do they cast lots.

19 Tu dunque, Signore, non allontanarti; [Tu che sei la] mia forza, affrettati a soccorrermi.

But thou, O Lord, be not far from me: O [thou who art] my strength, hasten to my aid.

20 Riscuoti l'anima mia dalla spada, L'unica mia dalla branca del cane.

Deliver from the sword my life, from the power of the dog my solitary soul.

21 Salvami dalla gola del leone, Ed esaudiscimi, [liberandomi] dalle corna de' liocorni.

Save me from the lion's mouth; as thou hast answered me from the horns of the reem.

22 Io racconterò il tuo Nome a' miei fratelli; Io ti loderò in mezzo della raunanza.

I will relate thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.

23 [Voi] che temete il Signore, lodatelo; Glorificatelo [voi], tutta la progenie di Giacobbe; E [voi] tutta la generazione d'Israele, abbiate timor di lui.

Ye that fear the Lord, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and be in dread of him, all ye the seed of Israel.

24 Perciocchè egli non ha sprezzata, nè disdegnata l'afflizione dell'afflitto; E non ha nascosta la sua faccia da lui; E quando ha gridato a lui, l'ha esaudito.

For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the poor; neither hath he hidden his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.

25 Da te [io ho] l'argomento della mia lode in grande raunanza; Io adempirò i miei voti in presenza di quelli che ti temono.

Of thee shall be my praise in a great assembly: my vows will I pay in the presence of those who fear him.

26 I mansueti mangeranno, e saranno saziati; Que' che cercano il Signore lo loderanno; Il vostro cuore viverà in perpetuo.

The meek shall eat and be satisfied; they who seek him shall praise the Lord: may your heart live for ever.

27 Tutte le estremità della terra ne avranno memoria, E si convertiranno al Signore; E tutte le nazioni delle genti adoreranno nel suo cospetto.

All the ends of the world shall remember and return unto the Lord: and all the families of the nations shall bow themselves down before thee.

28 Perciocchè al Signore [appartiene] il regno; Ed [egli è quel] che signoreggia sopra le genti.

For the kingdom is the Lord's, and he governeth the nations.

29 Tutti i grassi della terra mangeranno ed adoreranno; [Parimente] tutti quelli che scendono nella polvere, E che non possono mantenersi in vita, s'inchineranno davanti a lui.

All they that eat the fat of the earth shall bow themselves down; before him shall bend the knee all that are going down into the dust; for none can keep alive his own soul.

30 La [lor] posterità gli servirà; Ella sarà annoverata per generazione al Signore.

Distant ages shall serve him; there shall be related of the Lord unto future generations.

31 Essi verranno, ed annunzieranno la sua giustizia; [Ed] alla gente che ha da nascere ciò ch'egli avrà operato.

They will come, and will tell his righteousness unto a people yet unborn, that he hath done this.
