1 Samuele 15
1 OR Samuele disse a Saulle: Il Signore mi ha mandato per ungerti per re sopra il suo popolo, sopra Israele; ora dunque ascolta la voce delle parole del Signore.
And Samuel said unto Saul, It was, me, Yahweh sent to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel, —now, therefore, hearken thou to the voice of Yahweh’s words.
2 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: Io mi son rammemorato ciò che Amalec fece ad Israele, come egli se gli oppose tra via, quando egli salì fuor di Egitto.
Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, I have well considered what Amalek did unto Israel—how he lay in wait for him in the way, when he came up out of Egypt.
3 Ora va', e percuoti Amalec, e distruggete al modo dell'interdetto tutto ciò che [è] suo; e non risparmiarlo; anzi fa' morire uomini e donne, fanciulli e bambini di poppa, buoi e pecore, cammelli ed asini.
Now, go and smite Amalek, and devote ye to destruction all that he hath, and spare him not, —but thou shalt slay both man and woman, both child and suckling, both ox and sheep, both camel and ass.
4 Saulle adunque raunò il popolo, e ne fece la rassegna in Telaim, [in numero di] dugentomila uomini a piè, e di diecimila di Giuda.
So then Saul called together the people, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, —and ten thousand men of Judah.
5 E Saulle venne fino alla città di Amalec, e pose agguati nella valle.
And Saul came as far as the city of Amalek, —and stirred up strife in the ravine.
6 E Saulle disse a' Chenei: Andate, partitevi, scendete del mezzo degli Amalechiti; che talora io non vi distrugga con loro; avendo pur voi usata benignità inverso tutti i figliuoli d'Israele, quando salirono fuor di Egitto. I Chenei adunque si partirono di mezzo gli Amalechiti.
Then said Saul unto the Kenites—Go, depart, get you down out of the midst of the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them, yet, ye, dealt in lovingkindness, with all the sons of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed out of the midst of the Amalekites.
7 E Saulle percosse gli Amalechiti da Havila fino a Sur, che [è] a fronte all'Egitto.
And Saul smote Amalek, —from Havilah, till thou enterest Shur, which is over against Egypt.
8 E prese vivo Agag, re degli Amalechiti; ma distrusse tutto il popolo al modo dell'interdetto, [mettendolo] a fil di spada.
And he took Agag, king of Amalek, alive, —but, all the people, devoted he to destruction at the edge of the sword.
9 E Saulle, e il popolo, risparmiarono Agag, e il meglio delle pecore, e i buoi appaiati, e i montoni, e tutto [ciò ch'era] buono; e non vollero distruggere queste cose; ben distrussero ogni cosa vile e cattiva.
But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep and the oxen and the lambs, also the fatlings, and all that was good, and would not devote them to destruction, —but, all the cattle that was contemptible and diseased, that, devoted they to destruction.
10 Allora la parola del Signore fu [indirizzata] a Samuele, dicendo:
Then came the word of Yahweh unto Samuel, saying—
11 Io mi pento d'aver costituito re Saulle; perciocchè egli si è rivolto indietro da me, e non ha messe ad esecuzione le mie parole. E Samuele ne fu molto cruccioso, e gridò al Signore tutta quella notte.
I am grieved that I made Saul to be king, for he hath turned back from following me, and, my words, hath he not established. And it was vexing to Samuel, so that he made outcry unto Yahweh, all the night.
12 Poi Samuele si levò la mattina, per andare incontro a Saulle. Ed egli fu rapportato e detto a Samuele: Saulle è venuto in Carmel; ed ecco, egli si ha rizzato un trofeo; poi se n'è ritornato, ed è passato oltre, ed è disceso in Ghilgal.
And Samuel rose early to meet Saul, in the morning, and it was told Samuel, saying—Saul having come to Carmel, and lo! having set him up a sign, hath gone round, and passed over, and descended to Gilgal.
13 Samuele adunque venne a Saulle. E Saulle disse a Samuele: [Sii] tu benedetto appo il Signore; io ho messa ad esecuzione la parola del Signore.
And Samuel came unto Saul, —and Saul said unto him—Blessed, be thou by Yahweh: I have established the word of Yahweh.
14 E Samuele disse: Che belar di pecore dunque [è] questo [che] mi [viene] agli orecchi? e [che] mugghiar di buoi [è questo] che io odo?
And Samuel said, What then is this bleating of sheep, in mine ears, —and the lowing of oxen, which I can hear?
15 E Saulle disse: Queste [bestie] sono state menate [dal paese] degli Amalechiti; perciocchè il popolo ha risparmiato il meglio delle pecore e de' buoi, per farne sacrificio al Signore Iddio tuo; ma abbiamo distrutto il rimanente al modo dell'interdetto.
Then said Saul—From the Amalekites, have they brought them in; in that the people spared the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto Yahweh thy God, —but, the rest, have we devoted to destruction.
16 E Samuele disse a Saulle: Permetti che io ti dichiari ciò che il Signore mi ha detto questa notte. Ed egli gli disse: Parla pure.
Then said Samuel unto Saul, Stay, and let me tell thee, that which Yahweh hath spoken unto me, this night. And he said to him—Speak.
17 E Samuele disse: Non [è egli così], che, quando tu ti sei reputato piccolo, tu [sei stato costituito] capo delle tribù d'Israele, e il Signore ti ha unto per re sopra Israele?
And Samuel said, Was it not, when, little, thou wast in thine own eyes, that thou wast made, head of the tribes of Israel, —and that Yahweh anointed thee to be king over Israel?
18 Ora il Signore ti avea mandato a questa impresa, e ti avea detto: Va', distruggi que' peccatori, gli Amalechiti, e fa' loro guerra finchè sieno consumati.
So then Yahweh sent thee on a journey, —and said—Go, and devastate to destruction, the sinners—the Amalekites, and make war against them, until they have consumed them.
19 Perchè dunque non hai tu ubbidito alla voce del Signore? anzi ti sei rivolto alla preda, ed hai fatto ciò che dispiace al Signore?
Wherefore, then, didst thou not hearken unto the voice of Yahweh, —but didst rush upon the spoil, and do that which was wrong in the sight of Yahweh?
20 E Saulle disse a Samuele: Io ho pure ubbidito alla voce del Signore, e sono andato all'impresa, alla quale il Signore mi ha mandato, e ne ho menato Agag, re di Amalec, ed ho distrutti gli Amalechiti al modo dell'interdetto.
And Saul said unto Samuel—As indeed I have hearkened unto the voice of Yahweh, and have been on the journey on which Yahweh sent me, —and have brought in Agag, king of Amalek, and, the Amalekites, have I devoted to destruction.
21 Ma il popolo ha preso, d'infra la preda, buoi e pecore, il meglio dell'interdetto, per farne sacrificio al Signore Iddio tuo, in Ghilgal.
And the people took, of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things so devoted, —to sacrifice unto Yahweh thy God, in Gilgal.
22 E Samuele disse: Il Signore ha egli a grado gli olocausti e i sacrificii, come che si ubbidisca alla sua voce? Ecco, ubbidire val meglio che sacrificio; [e] prestare attenzione [val meglio] che grasso di montoni.
Then said Samuel—Doth that which is pleasing unto Yahweh consist in ascending-offerings and sacrifices, So much as in hearkening unto the voice of Yahweh? Lo! to hearken, is, better, than, sacrifice. And, to give heed, than, the fat of rams;
23 Perciocchè la ribellione [è pari al] peccato dell'indovinare; e il trasgredire [è pari al peccato che si commette intorno agl'] idoli ed alle immagini. Perciocchè tu hai sdegnata la parola del Signore, egli altresì ha sdegnato te, acciocchè tu non [sii più] re.
For, as the sin of divination, is, rebelliousness, —and, as transgression with household gods, is, stubbornness, —Because thou hast rejected the word of Yahweh, therefore hath he rejected thee from being king.
24 Allora Saulle disse a Samuele: Io ho peccato; conciossiachè io abbia trasgredito il comandamento del Signore, e le tue parole; perciocchè io temeva del popolo, onde io acconsentii a ciò ch'egli disse.
Then said Saul unto Samuel—I have sinned; for I have transgressed the bidding of Yahweh, and thy words, —for I feared the people, and hearkened unto their voice.
25 Ma ora, perdonami, ti prego, il mio peccato, e ritorna meco; ed io adorerò il Signore.
Now, therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, —and turn again with me, that I may bow down unto Yahweh.
26 E Samuele disse a Saulle: Io non ritornerò teco; perciocchè tu hai sdegnata la parola del Signore, e il Signore altresì ha sdegnato te, acciocchè tu non sii [più] re sopra Israele.
And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not turn again with thee, —Because thou hast rejected the word of Yahweh, therefore hath Yahweh rejected thee from being king over Israel.
27 E come Samuele si fu voltato per andarsene, [Saulle] prese il lembo del manto di esso, il quale si stracciò.
And, when Samuel turned about to go away, then laid he hold of the skirt of his robe, and it was rent.
28 E Samuele gli disse: Il Signore ha oggi stracciato d'addosso a te il regno d'Israele, e l'ha dato ad un tuo prossimo, ch'[è] miglior di te.
And Samuel said unto him, Yahweh hath rent the kingdom of Israel from off thee, to-day, —and will give it unto a neighbour of thine, who is better than thou.
29 Ed anche [egli, che è] la Vittoria d'Israele, non mentirà, e non si pentirà; perciocchè egli non [è] un uomo, per pentirsi.
Moreover also, the Eminence of Israel, will not lie, neither will he repent, —For no, iron of earth, is, he, to repent!
30 E [Saulle] disse: Io ho peccato: deh! onorami ora in presenza degli Anziani del mio popolo, ed in presenza d'Israele, e ritorna meco, ed io adorerò il Signore Iddio tuo.
Then he said: I have sinned, Now, honour me, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, —and turn again with me, then will I bow down unto Yahweh thy God.
31 Samuele adunque se ne ritornò dietro a Saulle; e Saulle adorò il Signore.
So then Samuel turned again, after Saul—and Saul bowed down unto Yahweh.
32 Poi Samuele disse: Menatemi qua Agag, re di Amalec; ed Agag se ne andò a lui con dilicatezze. Ed Agag diceva: Certo l'amaritudine della morte è passata.
Then said Samuel—Bring ye near unto me—Agag, king of Amalek, And Agag came unto him, in fetters. Then said Agag, Surely, terrible, is the bitterness of death!
33 Ma Samuele [gli] disse: Siccome la tua spada ha orbate le donne [di figliuoli], così sarà tua madre orbata [di figliuoli] fra le donne. E Samuele fece squartare Agag nel cospetto del Signore, in Ghilgal.
And Samuel said, As women have been made childless by thy sword, So, childless among women, shall be, thine own mother. And Samuel cut Agag asunder before Yahweh, in Gilgal.
34 Poi Samuele se ne andò in Rama. E Saulle salì a casa sua in Ghibea di Saulle.
Then Samuel departed unto Ramah, —but, Saul, went up unto his own house, at Gibeah of Saul.
35 E Samuele non vide più Saulle, fino al giorno della sua morte; benchè Samuele facesse cordoglio di Saulle; ma il Signore s'era pentito d'aver costituito Saulle re sopra Israele.
And Samuel did no more see Saul, until the day of his death, for Samuel pined for Saul, —but, Yahweh, was grieved that he had made Saul king over Israel.
