Proverbi 21
1 Il cuore del re è un canale d'acqua in mano al Signore: lo dirige dovunque egli vuole.
[Like] channels of water, is the heart of a king, in the hand of Yahweh, —whithersoever he will, he turneth it.
2 Agli occhi dell'uomo tutte le sue vie sono rette, ma chi pesa i cuori è il Signore.
Every way of a man, may be right in his own eyes, but, he that testeth hearts, is Yahweh.
3 Praticare la giustizia e l'equità per il Signore vale più di un sacrificio.
To do righteousness and justice, is more choice to Yahweh than sacrifice.
4 Occhi alteri e cuore superbo, lucerna degli empi, è il peccato.
Loftiness of eyes, and ambition of heart—the lamp of the lawless, are sin.
5 I piani dell'uomo diligente si risolvono in profitto, ma chi è precipitoso va verso l'indigenza.
The plans of the diligent, tend only to abundance, but, of every one that is urgent, only to want.
6 Accumular tesori a forza di menzogne è vanità effimera di chi cerca la morte.
The gaining of treasures with a tongue of falsehood, is a vapour driven away, [they who seek them] seek death,
7 La violenza degli empi li travolge, perché rifiutano di praticare la giustizia.
The violence of the lawless, shall drag them away, —because they have refused to do justice.
8 La via dell'uomo criminale è tortuosa, ma l'innocente è retto nel suo agire.
Crooked is the way of a guilty man, but, as for the pure, straight is his dealing.
9 E' meglio abitare su un angolo del tetto che avere una moglie litigiosa e casa in comune.
Better to dwell on the corner of the roof, than a quarrelsome wife, and a house in common.
10 L'anima del malvagio desidera far il male e ai suoi occhi il prossimo non trova pietà.
The soul of the lawless man, craveth mischief, his own friend, findeth no favour in his eyes.
11 Quando il beffardo vien punito, l'inesperto diventa saggio e quando il saggio viene istruito, accresce il sapere.
When the scoffer is punished, the simple, becometh wise, when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12 Il Giusto osserva la casa dell'empio e precipita gli empi nella sventura.
The Righteous One observeth the house of the lawless, —He is ready to cast down lawless men into misfortune.
13 Chi chiude l'orecchio al grido del povero invocherà a sua volta e non otterrà risposta.
He that shutteth his ear from the cry of the poor, even he, shall call, and not be answered.
14 Un regalo fatto in segreto calma la collera, un dono di sotto mano placa il furore violento.
A gift in secret, quencheth anger, and, a present in the bosom, mighty wrath.
15 E' una gioia per il giusto che sia fatta giustizia, mentre è un terrore per i malfattori.
It is a joy, to a righteous man, to do justice, but, dismay, to the workers of iniquity.
16 L'uomo che si scosta dalla via della saggezza, riposerà nell'assemblea delle ombre dei morti.
The man who wandereth from the way of discretion, in the gathered host of the shades, shall settle down.
17 Diventerà indigente chi ama i piaceri e chi ama vino e profumi non arricchirà.
A needy man, shall he be that loveth merriment, the lover of wine and oil, shall not become rich.
18 Il malvagio serve da riscatto per il giusto e il perfido per gli uomini retti.
A ransom for the righteous, is the lawless, and, instead of upright men, the traitor.
19 Meglio abitare in un deserto che con una moglie litigiosa e irritabile.
Better to dwell in a desert land, than with a woman, quarrelsome and provoking.
20 Tesori preziosi e profumi sono nella dimora del saggio, ma lo stolto dilapida tutto.
Desirable treasure and oil, are in the home of the wise, but, a man who is a dullard, will destroy it.
21 Chi segue la giustizia e la misericordia troverà vita e gloria.
He that pursueth righteousness and lovingkindness, shall find life, righteousness and honour.
22 Il saggio assale una città di guerrieri e abbatte la fortezza in cui essa confidava.
A city of heroes, doth a wise man scale, and bringeth down the strength of its confidence.
23 Chi custodisce la bocca e la lingua preserva se stesso dai dispiaceri.
He that keepeth his mouth and his tongue, keepeth, out of distresses, his soul.
24 Il superbo arrogante si chiama beffardo, egli agisce nell'eccesso dell'insolenza.
A haughty insolent one—Scoffer is his name, is he that acteth in a transport of pride.
25 I desideri del pigro lo portano alla morte, perché le sue mani rifiutano di lavorare.
The craving of the sluggard, killeth him, for his hands have refused to work.
26 Tutta la vita l'empio indulge alla cupidigia, mentre il giusto dona senza risparmiare.
All the day, he greatly craveth, whereas, the righteous, giveth, and doth not spare.
27 Il sacrificio degli empi è un abominio, tanto più se offerto con cattiva intenzione.
The sacrifice of the lawless, is an abomination, how much more, when, with wickedness, he bringeth it in!
28 Il falso testimone perirà, ma l'uomo che ascolta potrà parlare sempre.
A false witness, shall perish, but, the man who hearkeneth, with abiding effect, shall speak.
29 L'empio assume un'aria sfrontata, l'uomo retto controlla la propria condotta.
A lawless man emboldeneth his face, but, as for the upright, he, directeth his ways.
30 Non c'è sapienza, non c'è prudenza, non c'è consiglio di fronte al Signore.
There is no wisdom, nor understanding, nor counsel, to confront Yahweh.
31 Il cavallo è pronto per il giorno della battaglia, ma al Signore appartiene la vittoria.
The horse, is prepared for the day of battle, but, to Yahweh, pertaineth the victory.
