Ebrei 12
1 Anche noi dunque, circondati da un così gran nugolo di testimoni, deposto tutto ciò che è di peso e il peccato che ci assedia, corriamo con perseveranza nella corsa che ci sta davanti,
Wherfore let vs also (seynge that we are copased with so great a multitude of witnesses) laye awaye all that presseth doune and the synne that hageth on and let vs rune with paciece vnto the battayle yt is set before vs
2 tenendo fisso lo sguardo su Gesù, autore e perfezionatore della fede. Egli in cambio della gioia che gli era posta innanzi, si sottopose alla croce, disprezzando l'ignominia, e si è assiso alla destra del trono di Dio.
lokynge vnto Iesus the auctor and fynnyssher of oure fayth which for the ioye that was set before him abode the crosse and despysed the shame and is set doune on the right honde of ye trone of God.
3 Pensate attentamente a colui che ha sopportato contro di sé una così grande ostilità dei peccatori, perché non vi stanchiate perdendovi d'animo.
Consider therfore how that he endured suche speakinge agaynst him of synners lest ye shuld be weried and faynte in youre myndes.
4 Non avete ancora resistito fino al sangue nella vostra lotta contro il peccato
For ye have not yet resisted vnto bloud sheddinge stryvinge agaynst synne.
5 Figlio mio, non disprezzare la correzione del Signore e non ti perdere d'animo quando sei ripreso da lui; e avete gia dimenticato l'esortazione a voi rivolta come a figli:
And ye have forgotten the consolacion which speaketh vnto you as vnto chyldren: My sonne despyse not the chastenynge of the Lorde nether faynt when thou arte rebuked of him:
6 perché il Signore corregge colui che egli ama e sferza chiunque riconosce come figlio.
For whom the Lorde loveth him he chasteneth: yee and he scourgeth every sonne that he receaveth.
7 E' per la vostra correzione che voi soffrite! Dio vi tratta come figli; e qual è il figlio che non è corretto dal padre?
Yf ye endure chastninge God offereth him selfe vnto you as vnto sonnes. What sonne is that whom the father chasteneth not?
8 Se siete senza correzione, mentre tutti ne hanno avuto la loro parte, siete bastardi, non figli!
If ye be not vnder correccio (where of all are part takers) then are ye bastardes and not sonnes.
9 Del resto, noi abbiamo avuto come correttori i nostri padri secondo la carne e li abbiamo rispettati; non ci sottometteremo perciò molto di più al Padre degli spiriti, per avere la vita?
Moreover seynge we had fathers of oure flesshe which corrected vs and we gave them reverence: shuld we not moche rather be in subieccion vnto the father of spretuall gyftes that we myght live?
10 Costoro infatti ci correggevano per pochi giorni, come sembrava loro; Dio invece lo fa per il nostro bene, allo scopo di renderci partecipi della sua santità.
And they verely for a feaue dayes nurtred vs after their awne pleasure: but he learneth vs vnto that which is proffitable that we myght receave of his holines.
11 Certo, ogni correzione, sul momento, non sembra causa di gioia, ma di tristezza; dopo però arreca un frutto di pace e di giustizia a quelli che per suo mezzo sono stati addestrati.
No manner chastisynge for the present tyme semeth to be ioyeous but greveous: neverthelesse afterwarde it bryngeth the quyet frute of rightewesnes vnto them which are therin exercysed.
12 Perciò rinfrancate le mani cadenti e le ginocchia infiacchite
Stretch forthe therfore agayne the hondes which were let doune and the weake knees
13 e raddrizzate le vie storte per i vostri passi, perché il piede zoppicante non abbia a storpiarsi, ma piuttosto a guarire.
and se that ye have strayght steppes vnto youre fete lest eny haltinge turne out of ye waye: yee let it rather be healed.
14 Cercate la pace con tutti e la santificazione, senza la quale nessuno vedrà mai il Signore,
Embrace peace with all men and holynes: with out the which no man shall se the Lorde.
15 vigilando che nessuno venga meno alla grazia di Dio. Non spunti né cresca alcuna radice velenosa in mezzo a voi e così molti ne siano infettati;
And looke to that no man be destitue of the grace of God and that no rote of bitternes springe vp and trouble and therby many be defiled:
16 non vi sia nessun fornicatore o nessun profanatore, come Esaù, che in cambio di una sola pietanza vendette la sua primogenitura.
and that there be no fornicator or vnclene person as Esau which for one breakfast solde his birthright.
17 E voi ben sapete che in seguito, quando volle ereditare la benedizione, fu respinto, perché non trovò possibilità che il padre mutasse sentimento, sebbene glielo richiedesse con lacrime.
Ye knowe how that afterwarde when he wolde have inherited the blessinge he was put by and he foude no meanes to come therby agayne: no though he desyred it with teares.
18 Voi infatti non vi siete accostati a un luogo tangibile e a un fuoco ardente, né a oscurità, tenebra e tempesta,
For ye are not come vnto the mounte that can be touched and vnto burninge fyre nor yet to myst and darcknes and tempest of wedder
19 né a squillo di tromba e a suono di parole, mentre quelli che lo udivano scongiuravano che Dio non rivolgesse più a loro la parola;
nether vnto the sounde of a trope and the voyce of wordes: which voyce they that hearde it wisshed awaye that the comunicacion shuld not be spoken to them.
20 non potevano infatti sopportare l'intimazione: Se anche una bestia tocca il monte sia lapidata.
For they were not able to abyde that which was spoken. If a beast had touched the mountayne it must have bene stoned or thrust thorowe with a darte:
21 Lo spettacolo, in realtà, era così terrificante che Mosè disse: Ho paura e tremo.
eve so terreble was ye sight which appered. Moses sayde I feare and quake.
22 Voi vi siete invece accostati al monte di Sion e alla città del Dio vivente, alla Gerusalemme celeste e a miriadi di angeli, all'adunanza festosa
But ye are come vnto the moute Sion and to the citie of the livinge god the celestiall Ierusalem: and to an innumerable sight of angels
23 e all'assemblea dei primogeniti iscritti nei cieli, al Dio giudice di tutti e agli spiriti dei giusti portati alla perfezione,
and vnto the congregacion of ye fyrst borne sonnes which are writte in heven and to God the iudge of all and to the spretes of iust and parfecte men
24 al Mediatore della Nuova Alleanza e al sangue dell'aspersione dalla voce più eloquente di quello di Abele.
and to Iesus the mediator of the newe testament and to the spryncklynge of bloud that speaketh better then the bloud of Abell.
25 Guardatevi perciò di non rifiutare Colui che parla; perché se quelli non trovarono scampo per aver rifiutato colui che promulgava decreti sulla terra, molto meno lo troveremo noi, se volteremo le spalle a Colui che parla dai cieli.
Se that ye despise not him yt speaketh. For yf they escaped not which refused him that spake on erth: moche more shall we not escape yf we turne awaye fro him yt speaketh fro heve:
26 La sua voce infatti un giorno scosse la terra; adesso invece ha fatto questa promessa: Ancora una volta io scuoterò non solo la terra, ma anche il cielo.
whose voyce the shouke the erth and now declareth sayinge: yet once more will I shake not the erth only but also heven.
27 La parola ancora una volta sta a indicare che le cose che possono essere scosse son destinate a passare, in quanto cose create, perché rimangano quelle che sono incrollabili.
No dout yt same that he sayth yet once more signifieth the removinge a waye of those thinges which are shaken as of thinges which have ended their course: that the thynges which are not shaken maye remayne.
28 Perciò, poiché noi riceviamo in eredità un regno incrollabile, conserviamo questa grazia e per suo mezzo rendiamo un culto gradito a Dio, con riverenza e timore;
Wherfore if we receave a kyngdom which is not moved we have grace wherby we maye serve god and please him with reverence and godly feare.
29 perché il nostro Dio è un fuoco divoratore.
For oure god is a consumynge fyre.
