2 Tawarikh 34

1 Yosia berumur delapan tahun pada waktu ia menjadi raja dan tiga puluh satu tahun lamanya ia memerintah di Yerusalem.

Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign; and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem.

2 Ia melakukan apa yang benar di mata TUHAN dan hidup seperti Daud, bapa leluhurnya, dan tidak menyimpang ke kanan atau ke kiri.

And he did what was right in the sight of Jehovah, and walked in the ways of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand nor to the left.

3 Pada tahun kedelapan dari pemerintahannya, ketika ia masih muda belia, ia mulai mencari Allah Daud, bapa leluhurnya, dan pada tahun kedua belas ia mulai mentahirkan Yehuda dan Yerusalem dari pada bukit-bukit pengorbanan, tiang-tiang berhala, patung-patung pahatan dan patung-patung tuangan.

And in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the Asherahs, and the graven images, and the molten images.

4 Mezbah-mezbah para Baal dirobohkan di hadapannya; ia menghancurkan pedupaan-pedupaan yang ada di atasnya; ia meremukkan dan menghancurluluhkan tiang-tiang berhala, patung-patung pahatan dan patung-patung tuangan, dan menghamburkannya ke atas kuburan orang-orang yang mempersembahkan korban kepada berhala-berhala itu.

And they broke down the altars of the Baals in his presence; and the sun-pillars that were on high above them he cut down; and the Asherahs and the graven images and the molten images he broke in pieces, and made dust [of them] and strewed it upon the graves of those that had sacrificed to them;

5 Tulang-tulang para imam dibakarnya di atas mezbah-mezbah mereka. Demikianlah ia mentahirkan Yehuda dan Yerusalem.

and he burned the bones of the priests upon their altars, and purged Judah and Jerusalem.

6 Juga di kota-kota Manasye, Efraim dan Simeon, sampai di kota-kota Naftali, yang di mana-mana telah menjadi reruntuhan,

And [so did he] in the cities of Manasseh and Ephraim and Simeon, even to Naphtali, in their ruins round about;

7 ia merobohkan segala mezbah dan tiang berhala, meremukkan segala patung pahatan serta menghancurluluhkannya, dan menghancurkan semua pedupaan di seluruh tanah Israel. Sesudah itu ia kembali ke Yerusalem.

and he broke down the altars, and beat the Asherahs and the graven images into powder, and cut down all the sun-pillars throughout the land of Israel, and returned to Jerusalem.

8 Pada tahun kedelapan belas dari pemerintahannya, setelah selesai mentahirkan negeri dan rumah TUHAN, ia menyuruh Safan bin Azalya, dan Maaseya, penguasa kota, serta Yoah bin Yoahas, bendahara negara, untuk memperbaiki rumah TUHAN, Allahnya.

And in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he purged the land and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the chronicler, to repair the house of Jehovah his God.

9 Maka datanglah mereka kepada imam besar Hilkia dan menyerahkan kepadanya uang yang telah dibawa ke rumah Allah dan yang telah dikumpulkan oleh orang-orang Lewi, yakni oleh para penjaga pintu, dari orang-orang Manasye dan Efraim, dan dari semua orang yang masih tinggal dari Israel, pula dari seluruh orang Yehuda dan Benyamin, dan dari penduduk Yerusalem.

And they came to Hilkijah the high priest, and they delivered [to them] the money that had been brought into the house of God, which the Levites that kept the doors had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin, and of the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

10 Uang itu diberikan mereka ke tangan para pekerja yang diangkat untuk mengawasi rumah TUHAN; dan mereka itu, yang bekerja dalam rumah TUHAN, mengeluarkannya untuk membetulkan dan memperbaiki rumah itu.

And they gave [it] into the hand of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of Jehovah; and they gave it to the workmen who wrought in the house of Jehovah to reinstate and repair the house:

11 Mereka memberikannya kepada tukang-tukang kayu dan tukang-tukang bangunan, supaya tukang-tukang itu membeli batu pahat dan kayu untuk tupai-tupai dan untuk memasang balok-balok pada gedung-gedung, yang oleh raja-raja Yehuda dibiarkan roboh.

they gave [it] to the carpenters and the builders, to buy hewn stone, and timber for the joists, and to floor the houses that the kings of Judah had destroyed.

12 Orang-orang itu melakukan pekerjaan itu dengan setia. Orang-orang yang diangkat menjadi pengawas mereka ialah: Yahat dan Obaja, orang-orang Lewi dari bani Merari, sedangkan Zakharia dan Mesulam dari bani Kehat mengepalai semua. Dan semua orang Lewi yang pandai memainkan alat-alat musik,

And the men did the work faithfully. And over them were appointed Jahath and Obadiah, Levites, of the children of Merari, and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the children of the Kohathites, for the oversight; and all these Levites were skilled in instruments of music.

13 mengepalai kuli-kuli dan mengiringi semua tukang dalam pekerjaan apapun. Dari antara orang-orang Lewi itu ada yang menjadi panitera, pengatur atau penunggu pintu gerbang.

They were also over the bearers of burdens, and were overseers of all that worked in any manner of service. And of the Levites were the scribes, and officers, and doorkeepers.

14 Ketika mereka mengeluarkan uang yang telah dibawa ke rumah TUHAN, imam Hilkia menemukan kitab Taurat TUHAN, yang diberikan dengan perantaraan Musa.

And when they brought out the money that had been brought into the house of Jehovah, Hilkijah the priest found the book of the law of Jehovah by Moses.

15 Maka berkatalah Hilkia kepada Safan, panitera negara itu: "Aku telah menemukan kitab Taurat di rumah TUHAN!" Lalu Hilkia memberikan kitab itu kepada Safan,

Then Hilkijah spoke and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of Jehovah. And Hilkijah gave the book to Shaphan.

16 dan Safan membawa kitab itu kepada raja. Ia juga menyampaikan kabar kepada raja: "Segala sesuatu yang ditugaskan kepada hamba-hambamu, telah mereka laksanakan.

And Shaphan carried the book to the king. And moreover he brought the king word again saying, All that was committed to the hand of thy servants, they do;

17 Mereka telah mengambil seluruh uang yang terdapat di rumah TUHAN dan memberikannya ke tangan para pengawas dan para pekerja."

and they have emptied out the money that was found in the house of Jehovah, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and into the hand of the workmen.

18 Safan, panitera negara itu, memberitahukan juga kepada raja: "Imam Hilkia telah memberikan kitab kepadaku," lalu Safan membacakan sebagian di depan raja.

And Shaphan the scribe informed the king saying, Hilkijah the priest has given me a book. And Shaphan read out of it before the king.

19 Segera sesudah raja mendengar perkataan Taurat itu, dikoyakkannyalah pakaiannya.

And it came to pass when the king heard the words of the law, that he rent his garments.

20 Kemudian raja memberi perintah kepada Hilkia, kepada Ahikam bin Safan, kepada Abdon bin Mikha, kepada Safan, panitera negara itu, dan kepada Asaya, hamba raja, katanya:

And the king commanded Hilkijah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Abdon the son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king, saying,

21 "Pergilah, mintalah petunjuk TUHAN bagiku, bagi yang masih tinggal di Israel dan di Yehuda tentang perkataan kitab yang ditemukan ini, sebab hebat kehangatan murka TUHAN yang dicurahkan kepada kita, oleh karena nenek moyang kita tidak memelihara firman TUHAN dengan berbuat tepat seperti yang tertulis dalam kitab ini!"

Go, inquire of Jehovah for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book which is found; for great is the wrath of Jehovah that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of Jehovah, to do according to all that is written in this book.

22 Maka pergilah Hilkia dengan orang-orang yang disuruh raja kepada nabiah Hulda, isteri seorang yang mengurus pakaian-pakaian, yaitu Salum bin Tokhat bin Hasra, penunggu pakaian-pakaian; nabiah itu tinggal di Yerusalem, di perkampungan baru. Mereka berbicara kepadanya sebagaimana yang diperintahkan.

And Hilkijah and they that the king [had appointed] went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tokehath, son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe: now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the second quarter [of the town]; and they spoke with her to that effect.

23 Perempuan itu menjawab mereka: "Beginilah firman TUHAN, Allah Israel! Katakanlah kepada orang yang menyuruh kamu kepada-Ku!

And she said to them, Thus saith Jehovah the God of Israel: Tell the man that sent you to me,

24 Beginilah firman TUHAN: Sesungguhnya Aku akan mendatangkan malapetaka atas tempat ini dan atas penduduknya, yakni segala kutuk yang tertulis dalam kitab yang telah dibacakan di depan raja Yehuda,

Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah.

25 karena mereka meninggalkan Aku dan membakar korban kepada allah lain dengan maksud menimbulkan sakit hati-Ku dengan segala pekerjaan tangan mereka; sebab itu nyala murka-Ku akan dicurahkan ke tempat ini dengan tidak padam-padam.

Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my fury shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched.

26 Tetapi kepada raja Yehuda yang telah menyuruh kamu untuk meminta petunjuk TUHAN, harus kamu katakan demikian: Beginilah firman TUHAN, Allah Israel: Mengenai perkataan yang telah kaudengar itu,

But to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of Jehovah, thus shall ye say to him: Thus saith Jehovah the God of Israel touching the words which thou hast heard:

27 oleh karena engkau sudah menyesal dan engkau merendahkan diri di hadapan Allah pada waktu engkau mendengar firman-Nya terhadap tempat ini dan terhadap penduduknya, oleh karena engkau merendahkan diri di hadapan-Ku, mengoyakkan pakaianmu dan menangis di hadapan-Ku, Akupun telah mendengarnya, demikianlah firman TUHAN,

Because thy heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy garments and weep before me, I also have heard [thee], saith Jehovah.

28 maka sesungguhnya Aku akan mengumpulkan engkau kepada nenek moyangmu, dan engkau akan dikebumikan ke dalam kuburmu dengan damai, dan matamu tidak akan melihat segala malapetaka yang akan Kudatangkan atas tempat ini dan atas penduduknya." Lalu mereka menyampaikan jawab itu kepada raja.

Behold, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace; and thine eyes shall not see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof. And they brought the king word again.

29 Sesudah itu raja menyuruh orang mengumpulkan semua tua-tua Yehuda dan Yerusalem.

And the king sent and gathered all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

30 Kemudian pergilah raja ke rumah TUHAN bersama-sama semua orang Yehuda dan penduduk Yerusalem, para imam, orang-orang Lewi, dan seluruh orang awam, baik yang besar maupun yang masih kecil. Dengan didengar mereka ia membacakan segala perkataan dari kitab perjanjian yang ditemukan di rumah TUHAN itu.

And the king went up into the house of Jehovah, and all the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests and the Levites, and all the people, great and small; and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which had been found in the house of Jehovah.

31 Sesudah itu berdirilah raja pada tempatnya dan diikatnyalah perjanjian di hadapan TUHAN untuk hidup dengan mengikuti TUHAN, dan tetap menuruti perintah-perintah-Nya, peraturan-peraturan-Nya dan ketetapan-ketetapan-Nya dengan segenap hatinya dan dengan segenap jiwanya dan untuk melakukan perkataan perjanjian yang tertulis dalam kitab itu.

And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before Jehovah, to walk after Jehovah, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all his heart and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that are written in this book.

32 Ia menyuruh semua orang yang berada di Yerusalem dan Benyamin ikut serta dalam perjanjian itu. Dan penduduk Yerusalem berbuat menurut perjanjian Allah, yakni Allah nenek moyang mereka.

And he caused all that were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand [to it]. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.

33 Yosia menjauhkan segala dewa kekejian dari semua daerah orang Israel dan menyuruh semua orang yang ada di Israel beribadah kepada TUHAN, Allah mereka. Maka sepanjang hidup Yosia mereka tidak menyimpang mengikuti TUHAN, Allah nenek moyang mereka.

And Josiah removed all the abominations out of all the countries that belonged to the children of Israel, and made to serve all that were found in Israel, — to serve Jehovah their God: all his days they did not depart from following Jehovah, the God of their fathers.
