1 Ibagak ti kinapudno gapu kenni Cristo. Saanak nga agulbod ken makipagpaneknek kaniak ti konsensiak iti Espiritu Santo,
I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience bearing witness with me in the Holy Spirit,
2 nga addaanak iti nakaro a ladingit ken saan nga agsarsardeng a panaas iti pusok.
that I have great sorrow and unceasing pain in my heart.
3 Ta mabalin a kalikagumak a mailunod ken maisinaak manipud kenni Cristo a para kadagiti kakabsatko a lallaki, dagiti nagtaud iti pulik segun iti lasag.
For I could wish that I myself were anathema from Christ for my brethren’s sake, my kinsmen according to the flesh:
4 Israelitada. Naamponda, naaddaanda iti dayag, dagiti tulag, ti sagut iti linteg, ti panagdayaw iti Dios, ken dagiti karkari.
who are Israelites; whose is the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service [of God], and the promises;
5 Kaputotan ida dagiti kapuonan iti iyaay ni Cristo no maipapan iti lasag—isuna a Dios iti amin. Maidaydayaw koma isuna iti agnanayon. Amen. (aiōn g165)
whose are the fathers, and of whom is Christ as concerning the flesh, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
6 Ngem kasla saan a nagballigi dagiti karkari ti Dios. Ta pudno a saan nga amin iti Israel ti maibilang iti Israel.
But [it is] not as though the word of God hath come to nought. For they are not all Israel, that are of Israel:
7 Kasta met a pudno a saan nga amin a kaputotan ni Abraham ket annakna. Ngem, “Ni Isaac ti gapuna a maawaganto dagiti kaputotam.”
neither, because they are Abraham’s seed, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
8 Dayta ket, saan nga annak ti Dios dagiti annak iti lasag. Ngem dagiti annak ti kari ket maibilang a kaputotan.
That is, it is not the children of the flesh that are children of God; but the children of the promise are reckoned for a seed.
9 Ta daytoy ti sao ti kari: “Umayakto iti daytoy a tiempo, ken maikkanto iti anak a lalaki ni Sara.”
For this is a word of promise, According to this season will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.
10 Saan laeng a daytoy, ngem kalpasan met a nagsikug ni Rebecca babaen iti maysa a lalaki, ti amatayo a ni Isaac—
And not only so; but Rebecca also having conceived by one, [even] by our father Isaac—
11 ta saan pay a naipasngay dagiti ubbing ken saanpay a nakaaramid iti aniaman a naimbag wenno dakes, tapno mapasamak ti panggep ti Dios segun iti panangpilina, saan a gapu kadagiti ar-aramid, ngem gapu kenkuana a mangay-ayab—
for [the children] being not yet born, neither having done anything good or bad, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth,
12 naibaga kenkuana, “Pagserbianto ti inauna ti inaudi.”
it was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
13 Dayta ket kas iti naisurat: “Inayatko ni Jacob, ngem ginurak ni Esau.”
Even as it is written, Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.
14 Ania ngarud iti makunatayo? Adda kadi kinakillo iti Dios? Awan koma.
What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
15 Gapu ta kinunana kenni Moises, “Kaasiakto ti kaasiak, ken makipagriknaakto iti pakipagriknaak.”
For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.
16 Ngarud, saan a gapu kenkuana a makin pagayatan, wenno gapu kenkuana nga agtartaray, ngem gapu iti Dios, a manangngaasi.
So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that hath mercy.
17 Ta kuna iti Nasantoan a Surat kenni Faraon, “Binangonka gapu iti daytoy a panggep, tapno maiparangarangko ti pannakabalinko kenka, ken tapno maiwaragawag ti naganko iti sangalubongan.”
For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, For this very purpose did I raise thee up, that I might show in thee my power, and that my name might be published abroad in all the earth.
18 Ngarud, kaasian ti Dios iti kayatna a kaasian, ken pagbalinenna a natangken ti ulo ti kayatna a patangkenen.
So then he hath mercy on whom he will, and whom he will he hardeneth.
19 Ket ibagayonto kaniak, “Apay nga adda pay laeng ti masarakanna a biddut? Ta adda kadi iti nakasupring iti pagayatanna?”
Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he still find fault? For who withstandeth his will?
20 Ngem sika a tao, siasinoka a sumungbat maibusor iti Dios? Ibaga kadi ti nadamili iti nangdamili kenkuana, “Apay nga inaramidnak a kastoy?”
Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why didst thou make me thus?
21 Awan kadi karbengan ti agdamdamili a mangusar iti daga tapno agaramid iti pagkargaan para iti naisangsangayan a pakausaran manipud iti isu met laeng a daga, ken sabali a pagkargaan a mausar iti inaldaw?
Or hath not the potter a right over the clay, from the same lump to make one part a vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?
22 No ngay ti Dios, a situtulok a mangipakita iti pungtot ken mangipakaammo iti pannakabalinna, inan-anusanna nga inibturan dagiti pagkargaan ti pungtot a naisagana a pangdadael?
What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering vessels of wrath fitted unto destruction:
23 No ngay inaramidna daytoy tapno ipakaammona dagiti kinabaknang ti dayagna nga adda kadagiti pagkargaan ti asi, nga insagananan para iti dayag?
and that he might make known the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercy, which he afore prepared unto glory,
24 No ngay inaramidna met daytoy a maipaay kadatayo nga inayabanna, saan laeng a manipud kadagiti Judio, ngem manipud met kadagiti Hentil?
[even] us, whom he also called, not from the Jews only, but also from the Gentiles?
25 Kas kunana met iti Libro ni Oseas: “Awagakto a tattaok dagiti saanko a tattao, ken ti ay-ayatenna a saan a maay-ayat.
As he saith also in Hosea, I will call that my people, which was not my people; And her beloved, that was not beloved.
26 Ket mapasamakto dayta iti lugar a nakaibagaan kadakuada, 'Saan a dakayo dagiti tattaok,' maawagandanto sadiay nga 'annak ti sibibiag a Dios.”'
And it shall be, [that] in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, There shall they be called sons of the living God.
27 Ipukkaw ni Isaias maipapan iti Israel, “No ti bilang dagiti annak ti Israel ket kas iti darat ti baybay, dagitinto laeng mabati iti maisalakan.
And Isaiah crieth concerning Israel, If the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, it is the remnant that shall be saved:
28 Ta asidegen nga ipatungpalto ti Apo ti saona ditoy lubong
for the Lord will execute [his] word upon the earth, finishing it and cutting it short.
29 Ken kas iti imbaga ni Isaias idi, “No saan a nangibati ti Apo a Mannakabalin-Amin iti kaputotan para kadatayo, nagbalintayo koma a kas iti Sodoma, ken nagbalintayo koma a kas iti Gomorra.
And, as Isaiah hath said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, We had become as Sodom, and had been made like unto Gomorrah.
30 Ania ngarud iti makunatayo? A dagiti Hentil, a saan a mangsursurot iti kinalinteg, nagun-odda iti kinalinteg, ti kinalinteg babaen iti pammati.
What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who followed not after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith:
31 Ngem ti Israel, a nangsurot iti linteg ti kinalinteg, ket saan a dimteng iti dayta.
but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, did not arrive at [that] law.
32 Apay ta saan? Gapu ta saanda a sinurot daytoy babaen iti pammati, ngem babaen kadagiti aramid. Naitibkolda iti bato a pakaitibkolan,
Wherefore? Because [they sought it] not by faith, but as it were by works. They stumbled at the stone of stumbling;
33 kas iti naisurat, “Kitaenyo, mangikabilak sadiay Sion iti pakaitibkolan a bato ken dakkel a bato a pakarurodan. Saan a maibabain ti mamati iti dayta.”
even as it is written, Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence: And he that believeth on him shall not be put to shame.
