Példabeszédek 7
1 Fiam, tartsd meg az én beszédeimet, és az én parancsolataimat rejtsd el magadnál.
My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2 Az én parancsolatimat tartsd meg, és élsz; és az én tanításomat mint a szemed fényét.
Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thy eye.
3 Kösd azokat ujjaidra, írd fel azokat szíved táblájára.
Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thy heart.
4 Mondd ezt a bölcseségnek: Én néném vagy te; és az eszességet ismerősödnek nevezd,
Say to wisdom, Thou [art] my sister; and call understanding [thy] kinswoman:
5 Hogy megőrizzen téged a nem hozzád tartozó asszonytól, és az ő beszédivel hizelkedő idegentől.
That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger [which] flattereth with her words.
6 Mert házam ablakán, a rács mögül néztem,
For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,
7 És láték a bolondok között, eszembe vevék a fiak között egy bolond ifjat,
And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
8 A ki az utczán jár, annak szeglete mellett, a házához menő úton lépeget,
Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house.
9 Alkonyatkor, nap estjén, és setét éjfélben.
In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:
10 És ímé, egy asszony eleibe jő, paráznának öltözetében, álnok az ő elméjében.
And behold, there met him a woman [with] the attire of a harlot, and subtil of heart.
11 Mely csélcsap és vakmerő, a kinek házában nem maradhatnak meg az ő lábai.
(She [is] loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:
12 Néha az utczán, néha a tereken van, és minden szegletnél leselkedik.
Now [is she] without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)
13 És megragadá őt és megcsókolá őt, és szemtelenségre vetemedvén, monda néki:
So she caught him, and kissed him, [and] with an impudent face said to him,
14 Hálaáldozattal tartoztam, ma adtam meg fogadásimat.
[I have] peace-offerings with me; this day have I paid my vows.
15 Azért jövék ki elődbe, szorgalmatosan keresni a te orczádat, és reád találtam!
Therefore I came forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
16 Paplanokkal megvetettem nyoszolyámat, égyiptomi szövésű szőnyegekkel.
I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved [works], with fine linen of Egypt.
17 Beillatoztam ágyamat mirhával, áloessel és fahéjjal.
I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18 No foglaljuk magunkat bőségesen mind virradtig a szeretetben; vígadjunk szerelmeskedésekkel.
Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.
19 Mert nincs otthon a férjem, elment messze útra.
For the good-man [is] not at home, he is gone a long journey:
20 Egy erszény pénzt vőn kezéhez; holdtöltére jő haza.
He hath taken a bag of money with him, [and] will come home at the day appointed.
21 És elhiteté őt az ő mesterkedéseinek sokaságával, ajkainak hizelkedésével elragadá őt.
With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she impelled him.
22 Utána megy; mint az ökör a vágóhídra, és mint a bolond, egyszer csak fenyítő békóba;
He goeth after her quickly, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
23 Mígnem átjárja a nyíl az ő máját. Miképen siet a madár a tőrre, és nem tudja, hogy az az ő élete ellen van.
Till a dart striketh through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it [is] for his life.
24 Annakokáért most, fiaim, hallgassatok engem, és figyelmezzetek az én számnak beszédeire.
Now therefore hearken to me, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
25 Ne hajoljon annak útaira a te elméd, és ne tévelyegj annak ösvényin.
Let not thy heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
26 Mert sok sebesültet elejtett, és sokan vannak, a kik attól megölettek.
For she hath cast down many wounded: yes, many strong [men] have been slain by her.
