1 Mózes 13

1 Feljöve azért Ábrám Égyiptomból, ő és az ő felesége, és mindene valamije vala, és Lót is ő vele, a déli tartományba.

And Abram went up out of Egypt, he and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the wilderness.

2 Ábrám pedig igen gazdag vala barmokkal, ezüsttel és aranynyal.

And Abram was very rich in cattle, and silver, and gold.

3 És méne helyről helyre délfelől mind Béthelig, oda a hol először vala az ő sátora, Béthel és Hái között.

And he went [to the place] whence he came, into the wilderness as far as Baethel, as far as the place where his tent was before, between Baethel and Aggai,

4 Annak az oltárnak helyére, melyet ott elsőben készített vala: és segítségűl hívá ott Ábrám az Úrnak nevét.

to the place of the altar, which he built there at first, and Abram there called on the name of the Lord.

5 Lótnak is pedig, a ki Ábrámmal jár vala, valának juhai, ökrei és sátorai.

And Lot who went out with Abram had sheep, and oxen, and tents.

6 És nem bírá meg őket az a föld, hogy együtt lakjanak, mert sok jószáguk vala, és nem lakhatának együtt.

And the land was not large enough for them to live together, because their possessions were great; and the land was not large enough for them to live together.

7 Versengés is támada az Ábrám barompásztorai között, és a Lót barompásztorai között; és a Kananeusok és a Perizeusok is ott laknak vala akkor azon a földön.

And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle, and the herdmen of Lot's cattle, and the Chananites and the Pherezites then inhabited the land.

8 Monda azért Ábrám Lótnak: Ne legyen versengés közöttem és közötted, se az én pásztoraim között és a te pásztoraid között: hiszen atyafiak vagyunk.

And Abram said to Lot, Let there not be a strife between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen, for we are brethren.

9 Avagy nincsen-é előtted mind az egész föld? Válj el kérlek, tőlem; ha te balra tartasz, én jobbra megyek; ha te jobbra menéndesz, én balra térek.

Lo! is not the whole land before thee? Separate thyself from me; if thou [goest] to the left, I will go to the right, and if thou goest to the right, I will go to the left.

10 Felemelé azért Lót az ő szemeit, és látá, hogy a Jordán egész melléke bővizű föld; mert minekelőtte elvesztette volna az Úr Sodomát és Gomorát, mind Czoárig olyan vala az, mint az Úr kertje, mint Égyiptom földe.

And Lot having lifted up his eyes, observed all the country round about Jordan, that it was all watered, before God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrha, as the garden of the Lord, and as the land of Egypt, until thou come to Zogora.

11 És választá Lót magának a Jordán egész mellékét, és elköltözék Lót kelet felé: és elválának egymástól.

And Lot chose for himself all the country round Jordan, and Lot went from the east, and they were separated each from his brother. And Abram dwelt in the land of Chanaan.

12 Ábrám lakozik vala a Kanaán földén, Lót pedig lakozik vala a Jordán-melléki városokban, és sátoroz vala Sodomáig.

And Lot dwelt in a city of the neighbouring people, and pitched his tent in Sodom.

13 Sodoma lakosai pedig nagyon gonoszok és bűnösök valának az Úr előtt.

But the men of Sodom were evil, and exceedingly sinful before God.

14 Az Úr pedig monda Ábrámnak, minekutánna elválék tőle Lót: Emeld fel szemeidet és tekints arról a helyről, a hol vagy, északra, délre, keletre és nyugotra.

And God said to Abram after Lot was separated from him, Look up with thine eyes, and behold from the place where thou now art northward and southward, and eastward and seaward;

15 Mert mind az egész földet, a melyet látsz, néked adom, és a te magodnak örökre.

for all the land which thou seest, I will give it to thee and to thy seed for ever.

16 És olyanná tészem a te magodat, mint a földnek pora, hogyha valaki megszámlálhatja a földnek porát, a te magod is megszámlálható lesz.

And I will make thy seed like the dust of the earth; if any one is able to number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed be numbered.

17 Kelj fel, járd be ez országot hosszában és széltében: mert néked adom azt.

Arise and traverse the land, both in the length of it and in the breadth; for to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.

18 Elébb mozdítá azért sátorát Ábrám, és elméne, és lakozék Mamré tölgyesében, mely Hebronban van, és oltárt építe ott az Úrnak.

And Abram having removed his tent, came and dwelt by the oak of Mambre, which was in Chebrom, and he there built an altar to the Lord.
