Józsué 10
1 Volt pedig, midőn hallotta Adóni-Cédek, Jeruzsálem királya, hogy Józsua bevette Ájt és elpusztította – amint tett Jeríchóval és királyával, úgy tett Ájjal és királyával – és hogy békét kötöttek Gibeón lakói Izraéllel és közepettük maradtak:
Now it happened when Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Joshua and with Israel, and were among them;
2 akkor nagyon féltek, mert nagy város volt Gibeón, mint bármelyike a királyvárosoknak s mert nagyobb volt Ájnál s mind az emberei vitézek.
that they were very afraid, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all its men were mighty.
3 Akkor küldött Adóni-Cédek, Jeruzsálem királya, Hókámhoz, Chebrón királyához, Pireámhoz, Jarmút királyához, Jáfiához, Lákhis királyához és Debírhez, Eglón királyához, mondván:
Therefore Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sent to Hoham king of Hebron, to Piram king of Jarmuth, to Japhia king of Lachish, and to Debir king of Eglon, saying,
4 Jöjjetek föl hozzám, és segítsetek engem, hogy megverjük Gibeónt, mert békét kötött Józsuával és Izraél fiaival.
"Come up to me, and help me, and let us strike Gibeon; for it has made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel."
5 Erre gyülekezett és fölment az emóri öt királya: Jeruzsálem királya, Chebrón királya, Jarmút királya, Lákhís királya, Eglón királya, ők meg egész táboruk; táboroztak Gibeón ellen és harcoltak ellene.
Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their armies, and camped against Gibeon, and made war against it.
6 Ekkor küldtek Gibeón emberei Józsuához a táborba Gilgálba, mondván: Ne vedd le kezeidet szolgáidról; jöjj fel hamar, szabadíts föl minket és segíts, mert ellenünk gyülekeztek mind a hegységben lakó emórinak királyai.
The men of Gibeon sent to Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, "Do not abandon your servants. Come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us; for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the hill country have gathered together against us."
7 S fölment Józsua Gilgálból, ő és az egész hadnép vele és mind a derék vitézek.
So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor.
8 És szólt az Örökkévaló Józsuához: Ne félj tőlük, mert kezedbe adtam őket; nem fog megállani senki közülük előtted.
YHWH said to Joshua, "Do not fear them, for I have delivered them into your hands. Not a man of them will stand before you."
9 És reájuk csapott Józsua hirtelen; egész éjjel vonult fel Gilgálból.
Joshua therefore came on them suddenly. He went up from Gilgal all night.
10 És megzavarta őket az Örökkévaló Izraél előtt: megverte őket nagy vereséggel Gibeónban; üldözte őket Bét-Chóron hágója felé és megverte Azékáig és Makkédáig.
YHWH confused them before Israel, and he killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them by the way of the ascent of Beth Horon, and struck them to Azekah and to Makkedah.
11 És történt, mikor megfutamodtak Izraél elől – épen Bét-Chóron hegylejtőjén voltak – az Örökkévaló hullatott reájuk nagy köveket az égről, Azékáig és meghaltak; számosabbak azok, kik meghaltak a jégeső kövei által, azoknál, akiket megöltek Izraél fiai karddal.
And it happened, as they fled from before the children of Israel while they were at the descent of Beth Horon, that YHWH cast down stones from the sky on them as far as Azekah, and they died. There were more who died from the hailstones than who the children of Israel killed with the sword.
12 Akkor beszélt Józsua az Örökkévalóhoz, a mely napon az Örökkévaló Izraél fiai elé adta az emórit, és így szólt Izraél szemei előtt: Nap, Gibeónban várj, s hold, Ajjálón völgyében!
Then Joshua spoke to YHWH in the day when YHWH delivered up the Amorites into the hand of Israel, when he struck them down at Gibeon, and they were struck down before the children of Israel; and he said in the sight of Israel, "Sun, stand still on Gibeon. You, moon, stop in the Valley of Aijalon."
13 És várt a nap és a hold megállott, míg a nemzet bosszút nem áll ellenségein. – Nemde meg van írva az Igazak könyvében. – Megállt a nap az ég közepén és nem sietett lemenni majd teljes egy napig.
The sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation had avenged themselves of their enemies. Isn't this written in the book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the midst of the sky, and did not hurry to go down about a whole day.
14 És nem volt olyan nap mint amaz, sem annak előtte, sem annak utána, hogy hallgatna az Örökkévaló ember szavára; mert az Örökkévaló harcolt Izraélért.
There was no day like that before it or after it, that YHWH listened to the voice of a man; for YHWH fought for Israel.
15 S visszatért Józsua, és egész Izraél ő vele a táborba, Gilgálba.
Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp to Gilgal.
16 Megfutamodott amaz öt király és elrejtőztek a barlangban Makkédában.
These five kings fled, and hid themselves in the cave at Makkedah.
17 S jelentették Józsuának, mondván: Megtaláltatott az öt király elrejtőzve a barlangban Makkédában.
Joshua was told, saying, "The five kings are found, hidden in the cave at Makkedah."
18 És mondta Józsua: Gördítsetek nagy köveket a barlang szájára és rendeljetek melléje embereket, hogy őrizzék őket.
Joshua said, "Roll large stones to the mouth of the cave, and set men by it to guard them;
19 Ti pedig meg ne álljatok, üldözzétek ellenségeiteket és vágjátok le a hátul levőket; ne engedjétek őket városaikba jutni, mert kezetekbe adta őket az Örökkévaló, a ti Istentek.
but do not stay. Pursue your enemies, and attack them from the rear. Do not allow them to enter into their cities; for YHWH your God has delivered them into your hand."
20 És volt, midőn végzett Józsua meg Izraél fiai azzal, hogy megverjék őket igen nagy vereséggel, amíg végük lett – menekülők pedig menekültek közülük és bejutottak az erősített városokba –
It happened, when Joshua and the children of Israel had finished killing them with a very great slaughter until they were consumed, and the remnant which remained of them had entered into the fortified cities,
21 akkor visszatért az egész nép a táborba Józsuához, Makkédába békében; nem öltötte ki Izraél fiai közül egy ellen sem a nyelvét senki.
that all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace. None moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.
22 És mondta Józsua: Nyissátok föl a barlang száját, vezessétek ki hozzám ezt az öt királyt a barlangból.
Then Joshua said, "Open the mouth of the cave, and bring those five kings out of the cave to me."
23 És így tettek, kivezették hozzá ezt az öt királyt a barlangból: Jeruzsálem királyát, Chebrón királyát, Jarmút királyát, Lákhís királyát, Eglón királyát.
They did so, and brought those five kings out of the cave to him: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.
24 És volt, amint kivezették a királyokat Józsuához, szólította Józsua Izraél minden emberét és mondta a harcosok vezéreinek, a kik vele mentek: Közeledjetek, tegyétek lábatokat e királyok nyakára. Közeledtek és nyakukra tették lábukat.
It happened, when they brought those kings out to Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said to the chiefs of the men of war who went with him, "Come near, put your feet on the necks of these kings." They came near, and put their feet on their necks.
25 És szólt hozzájuk Józsua: Ne féljetek és ne rettegjetek; legyetek erősek és bátrak, mert így fog tenni az Örökkévaló mind az ellenségeitekkel, akikkel ti harcoltok.
Joshua said to them, "Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed. Be strong and of good courage, for YHWH will do this to all your enemies against whom you fight."
26 S azután megverte és megölte őket Józsua, és felakasztatta öt fára; és maradtak fölakasztva a fákon estig.
Afterward Joshua struck them, put them to death, and hanged them on five trees. They were hanging on the trees until the evening.
27 Volt pedig naplementekor, megparancsolta Józsua és levették őket a fákról és dobták a barlangba, ahol elrejtőztek volt és raktak nagy köveket a barlang szájára egészen a mai napig.
It happened at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave in which they had hidden themselves, and laid great stones on the mouth of the cave, which remain to this very day.
28 Makkédát pedig bevette Józsua azon a napon, megverte azt a kard élével meg királyát – elpusztítván őket – és mind a lelket, mely benne volt, nem hagyott menekülőt; úgy tett Makkéda királyával, amint tett Jeríchó királyával.
Joshua took Makkedah on that day, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with its king. He utterly destroyed them and all the souls who were in it. He left none remaining. He did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.
29 És vonult Józsua és egész Izraél ő vele Makkédából Libnába és harcolt Libna ellen.
Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, to Libnah, and fought against Libnah.
30 És adta az Örökkévaló azt is Izraél kezébe, meg a királyát, és megverte a kard élével és mind a lelket, mely benne volt, nem hagyott benne menekülőt; úgy tett királyával, amint tett Jeríchó királyával.
YHWH delivered it also, with its king, into the hand of Israel. He struck it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls who were in it. He left none remaining in it. He did to its king as he had done to the king of Jericho.
31 S vonult Józsua és egész Izraél ő vele Libnából Lákhísba; táborozott ellene és harcolt vele.
Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, to Lachish, and camped against it, and fought against it.
32 És adta az Örökkévaló Lákhíst Izraél kezébe, bevette azt a második napon és megverte a kard élével és mind a lelket, mely benne volt; mind a szerint, amint tett Libnával.
YHWH delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel. He took it on the second day, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with all the souls who were in it, according to all that he had done to Libnah.
33 Akkor fölvonult Hórám, Gézer királya, hogy segítse Lákhíst, de megverte őt Józsua meg népét, míg nem hagyott közüle menekülőt.
Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua struck him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.
34 Erre vonult Józsua és egész Izraél ő vele Lákhísból Eglónba; táboroztak ellene és harcoltak ellene.
Joshua passed from Lachish, and all Israel with him, to Eglon; and they camped against it fought against it.
35 Bevették azt azon a napon és megverték a kard élével, mind a lelket pedig, mely benne volt, elpusztította azon a napon; mind a szerint, amint tett Lákhíssal.
They took it on that day, and struck it with the edge of the sword. He utterly destroyed all the souls who were in it that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.
36 S fölvonult Józsua és egész Izraél ő vele Eglónból Chebrónba, és harcoltak ellene.
Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, to Hebron; and they fought against it.
37 Bevették azt és megverték a kard élével, meg királyát és mind a városait és mind a lelket, mely benne volt, nem hagyott menekülőt, mind a szerint, amint tett Eglónnal; elpusztította azt és mind a lelket, mely benne volt.
They took it, and struck it with the edge of the sword, with its king and all its cities, and all the souls who were in it. He left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but he utterly destroyed it, and all the souls who were in it.
38 Ekkor visszatért Józsua és egész Izraél ő vele Debír felé és harcolt ellene.
Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir, and fought against it.
39 Bevette azt, meg királyát és mind a városait, megverték azokat a kard élével és elpusztították mind a lelket, mely benne volt, nem hagyott menekülőt; amint tett Chebrónnal, úgy tett Debírral és királyával és amint tett Libnával és királyával.
He took it, with its king and all its cities. They struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls who were in it. He left none remaining. As he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to its king; as he had done also to Libnah, and to its king.
40 Megverte Józsua az egész országot; a hegységet, a délvidéket, az alföldet, a lejtőket meg mind a királyaikat, nem hagyott menekülőt; mind a lelket pedig elpusztította, amint megparancsolta az Örökkévaló, Izraél Istene.
So Joshua struck all the land, the hill country, and the Negev, and the lowland, and the slopes, and all their kings. He left none remaining, but he utterly destroyed all that breathed, as YHWH, the God of Israel, commanded.
41 Megverte őket Józsua Kádés-Barneától Azzáig, meg Gósen egész földjét Gibeónig.
And Joshua struck them from Kadesh Barnea to Gaza, and the entire region of Goshen as far as Gibeon.
42 S mind e királyokat és országokat elfoglalta Józsua egyszerre, mert az Örökkévaló, Izraél Istene, harcolt Izraélért.
Joshua took all these kings and their land at one time, because YHWH, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.
43 Ekkor visszatért Józsua és egész Izraél ő vele a táborba, Gilgálba.
Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp to Gilgal.
